Reviews from Hyundai Santa Fe III owners

Hyundai Santa Fe III, 2012

The choice fell on the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe III model year, we decided to take the basic package, always white (well, I like white and that’s it). I called all the car dealerships, one of them said that such a car would be available in a week, I was quite happy with that. A week passed, and my wife and I left the dealership in a new car. The dealer offered floor mats and crankcase protection, which seemed a little expensive to me, so I refused. “Begged” for interior mats as a gift. The market promised to bring crankcase protection in 2 weeks for 2400 rubles. I was very pleased with the already tinted ones rear windows, good sound insulation, the door goes all the way to the bottom, your feet don’t get dirty on the sills, the seating position is comfortable (my height is 176 cm), comfortable second-row seats (adjustable for tilt and the “seats” move back and forth), the stove works very well, informative rear-view mirrors , a bunch of drawers under the trunk floor. I can't write much about it yet driving characteristics Hyundai Santa Fe III, because I decided not to drive the car until 1000 km. Fuel consumption is from 13.5 to 15.5 liters in the city, I hope it will decrease in a couple of thousand km. Among the “extras”, I bought and already installed a standard head-mounted touchscreen multimedia (Chinese), a TV antenna on the glass, a rear view camera and parking sensors (they didn’t have to be installed, everything is clearly visible in the camera).

Advantages : design. Comfort inside. Engine. Suspension. Noise insulation.

Flaws : price.

Hyundai Santa Fe III, 2012

I saw the new Hyundai Santa Fe III generation in the press. I read everything I could and when I arrived at the salon I took it for a test drive. One petrol version is presented for testing. The look in white is great. The interior and thoughtful door seals are beyond praise. The ground clearance and distance to the thresholds are sufficient. Sometimes I don’t understand how 185 mm might not be enough, when the Moskvich 2140 had 173, the Japanese had even less, but in my youth I climbed to places where I don’t go now on the “hundredth” (L.C.). In addition, the measurement actually showed 195-200 mm with the car equipped. The distance from the edge of the wheel to the edge of the wing suggests that it is realistic to install the “rubber” 10-20 mm higher. Although the dealer immediately warned against this seditious thought by losing the warranty. The engine does not “mumble” in the cabin, the suspension behaves decently in terms of extraneous sounds, but this new car, and it’s too early to judge this. Acceleration to “hundreds” was 11.6 seconds, and this was on an untested engine (I wasn’t driving, but I confess – my idea), there were 3 people in the car, two 100 and one 65. The test cars get it. Consumption on the computer is 16.8 at the beginning of the test and one tenth less at the end. But here I make allowances for the long idling and illogical driving (brake, gas) of many “drivers”. In reality, I think it will be less, and the running-in will make itself felt.

The information content of the displays, both instrument and multimedia, is rather poor. The display of information could have been five points more (travel time, readings of external and internal thermometers, etc.) maybe this is true, but I apparently didn’t get to the bottom of it. I didn't like the stock GPS on the Hyundai Santa Fe III. It’s problematic with updating and information content, so “my” Navitel is still better. The trunk is well thought out and sufficient. Between the lower edge of the rear seat and the edge of the trunk there is another niche - a kind of safe. Although the trunk curtain could be implemented like in the Mazda CX-5 - rising along with the trunk lid.

Advantages : thoughtful interior. Ergonomics. Capacity. Comfort.

Flaws : The information content of the devices is rather simple. Standard GPS.

Hyundai Santa Fe III, 2013

What can I say, at first glance and testing for a 175-horsepower unit, the Hyundai Santa Fe III is quite dynamic. In the city you can easily drive at 80 and 120, on the highway it is advisable to keep it on the tiptronic in the operating range of 3500-5500, then it has enough dynamics for both overtaking and getting ahead. After the maneuver, you turn on “D” and again there is peace and quiet in the cabin. At a speed of 180 km/h, the tachometer shows 4300 rpm, and in the cabin you can calmly talk and listen to music - the rumble of the engine is not annoying and the road noise is practically inaudible. The suspension in the city on small bumps makes you feel discomfort, but on the highway the Hyundai Santa Fe III simply turns into a large airliner, easy to control and holding the ruts as if it were not there at all. The travel of the stabilizer bars is very large, so it is very difficult to break through the suspension, even when lifting off the road with all 4 wheels (believe me, I have already tried it). Stabilization system directional stability Hyundai Santa Fe III performs 10 points out of 10 possible; I have never experienced the smarter “brains” of a car.

The ergonomics of the arrangement of instruments in the cabin is a solid “4” out of “5”. As for the cross-country ability of the Hyundai Santa Fe III, I can say the following, which is a little worse than that of my previous Hyundai ix35 transshipment vehicle with a manual transmission. However, half a meter of snow with loose soil is not a hindrance for the Hyundai Santa Fe III. The only thing that annoys me is the periodic creaking of the front panel (torpedo), but I think this happened after the “officials” installed parking sensors and an alarm system for me. One gets the feeling that they forgot to screw something in, but in general, the car from the Hyundai concern turned out to be excellent and it is quite worthy of the name “Premium Crossover”.

Advantages : appearance. Salon. Ride quality.

Flaws : fuel consumption.

Hyundai Santa Fe III, 2015

Good afternoon, I decided to insert a couple of lines about the Hyundai Santa Fe III. After the birth of the child, it was decided to switch to a SUV with a more spacious trunk for transporting children's accessories, with tears in my eyes I sold my F10 2.0 diesel with a mileage of only 9,000. I immediately went for a test drive of the X3 diesel, overall I liked it, but the price tag in a good configuration was prohibitive , and I didn’t really like the runflat, it’s a bit harsh, but changing tires and buying a spare tire new car I didn't want to either. Then I went and tested the new Tiguan, it totally sucks, another deception of the buyer, they put on lipstick and that’s it. It’s hard, it breaks through the shock absorbers even when passing speed bumps lightly, the gearbox is old from Multivan, it roars, but stubbornly doesn’t move. I was already upset, but on the way home I stopped at Hyundai, where a new Hyundai Santa Fe III diesel came for testing and I was the first to drive it, the dynamics were very impressive and the performance of the gearbox was on par, I compared it with the sold F10, then the manager said that they were selling my test drive car with 3500 mileage, after negotiations it was purchased in maximum configuration. So, I’ve been riding for the seventh month now, I’m happy with the dynamics and fuel consumption, nothing has broken, there’s a 4-year warranty. That's it.

Advantages : appearance. Dynamics. Controllability. Capacity.

Flaws : sound insulation of arches.

Hyundai Santa Fe III, 2016

The car is just a fairy tale. I enjoy every inch I walk. Whether it's yard holes, country off-roads or flat track, pleasure in any case. You can easily drive for 4 hours straight. Seat comfort allows. And when my legs still start to go numb, I simply use a button to slightly change the inclination of the seat. The ride is not harsh. This was the determining factor for me when purchasing. She seems to be moderately elastic. Small shot, small irregularities, large crushed stone - passes smoothly, unlike so many others. Diesel is very playful. I really love how it accelerates. I like that I can easily transport 3-meter sheets of “lining”, for example. An old blanket on the dashboard and forward, you don’t even have to fold out the seats, I just fold back the central section of the back of the sofa. There are a bunch of different niches and drawers. Another thing that pleased me was that when driving over diagonal bumps, the body does not bend, there is no characteristic creaking of the seals, as was the case even in the Tuareg test. The all-wheel drive on the Hyundai Santa Fe III made me happy in the winter, when the whole city was stuck, I drove around calmly, it wasn’t even interesting, I never skidded or skidded anywhere. Yes, by the way, the suspension is somehow tuned in such a way that, with sufficient softness, it does not allow you to roll and skid on brutal turns. That is, you can simply sink it into the floor at a 90-degree turn. I really like how the diesel engine rushes up a steep hill at idle. I remembered what I didn’t like - leather seats. They get very warm in our latitudes, and their bottoms sweat. I have a model without seat ventilation, although it has perforations. So they are good, but I installed good gray covers. In terms of consumption: when I drove Hyundai Santa Fe III from Moscow to Crimea, it showed 1000 km average consumption 8.5. In the city, I drive exclusively through yards and in traffic jams, with trips all weekend to fly through forests and mountains, which for us also means 10-kilometer traffic jams at the entrance and exit of the city. Average consumption 10.4. The radio picks up unusually well, I say this as a driver with 19 years of experience. The sound is excellent.

Advantages : a lot of advantages.

Flaws : The engine start button is not visible from behind the steering wheel.

Hyundai Santa Fe III, 2014

I bought a Hyundai Santa Fe III in black - this is my first and last car in this color, the dust settles instantly and the car looks like it's covered in dust after 3-5 km. For comfortable ride and in order not to break the suspension, I deflated the tires: up to 2 atmospheres in front, 1.8 atmospheres in the rear - the effect is excellent. Our roads are very bad, in the spring a knock appeared in the front suspension, on the passenger side when driving slowly smooth road, the knock sounds like a ball or support bearing, I plan to go for maintenance one of these days. Fuel consumption up to 7,000 thousand kilometers (city, traffic jams, warming up plus winter) is approximately 14-15 liters. Now in May, consumption has dropped to 11 liters. The on-board PC (underestimates) is lying, by about 2 liters. The other day the oil level dropped below zero, as evidenced by the yellow light on the dashboard. Having taken out the dipstick, I saw black oil on it interspersed with black debris, as they write sulfur everywhere. Oil in the car from the factory. I'll go change it urgently; in the future I plan to reduce the oil change interval to 8000 km. The car is diesel. And the engine's operation can be clearly heard inside the car. If you are ready to drive with the sound of a tractor, then this is your choice - for me it is not a problem. At -24 degrees it starts without problems. The car drives quite well and holds the road well. The speed is felt differently, it seems that you are going 80, but on the speedometer it is 100. I checked it using the navigator, on the navigator it is 5 km/h relative to the speedometer. Visibility is slightly obstructed by the right A-pillar when turning sharply to the right. The dimensions of the car in the front and rear are poorly felt without cameras. There is apparently no sound insulation of the floor and arches; in our Kalina 2007 it is in no way inferior. Gas pedal - there is a response delay. I read that it can be eliminated with the help of new brain firmware.

Advantages : holds the road well at all speeds. Good brakes. It picks up speed well.

Flaws : hard suspension. Standard tires Nexen N8000 (very noisy). Gas pedal failure. Poor sound insulation wheel arches. Windshield wiper - no constant intermittent mode. The rain sensor lives its own life. The dimensions of the car in front and behind are poorly felt.

The Korean manufacturer has replenished model range mid-size crossover in 2000. Developed by engineers, designers and marketers of the Californian branch of the brand, Santa Fe takes the name of a city in the state of New Mexico and is created for sales in the North American market. The car was immediately loved by the spoiled big cars Americans, where a third of the market belongs to the giants, and their quality has been tested over the years. And today the popularity of Santa Fe is great - up to 140 thousand units are sold per year in the USA alone.

3rd generation (05.2012 - 06.2015, for Russia 08.2012 - 02.2016)

Large, all-wheel drive, economical, solid and worth real money. This is the formula for success previous generations Hyundai Santa Fe. This is what the buyer wants from the car. The third generation was a logical continuation of the second, but even an order of magnitude higher. The changes affected the quality of equipment, power, and degree of controllability.

For the first time, the design idea of Storm Edge (on the edge of the storm) was realized - the car design was made in a dynamic and rapid style.

Specifications

The five- and seven-seater (three-row XL is 20 cm longer in Russia with the Grand prefix) crossover Hyundai Santa Fe 3 Sport (in Russia simply Santa Fe) has become lower (clearance 185 mm), so driving is only on highways or dirt. But the comfort has increased.

Independent spring suspension, front - McPherson. Rear - connected when the front wheels slip, the new electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch of the Santa Fe 3 all-wheel drive system is Dynomax. Along with the arsenal electronic assistants(locking, switchable stabilization system, assistants when descending and starting on an ascent) it excels off-road. On a dirt road sprinkled with crushed stone of various sizes at a speed of 60 - 70 km/h, the car behaves very decently: it does not shake, there are no shocks from the suspension, the driver does not get tired and there is no need to cling to the steering wheel with force. The model feels like it has become more of a driver's car compared to its predecessor.

The new Santa is led into battle over distances by an old familiar 4-cylinder. If the gasoline unit is 2.4 with 175 hp. and it was not enough before, the turbodiesel 2.2 (197 hp) is one of the best created by the Koreans. A thrust of 436 N/m gives sprint acceleration to a car weighing 2500 kg. The feeling of lightning speed is hidden by the gas pedal - the first third of the stroke reacts very amorphously to pressure.

Outside

The innovative exterior design in the style of flowing lines attracts attention, looks bold and impressive. Huge potential, tastefully wrapped in smooth transitions that are pleasing to the eye. It turned out noble, stylish and elegant. Huge chrome hexagonal air intake grille with large emblem concern, front bumper two colors, a sloping hood, solid and calm optics - evidence of the status of the Hyundai Santa Fe III, which is not inferior to premium models.

The thresholds are neatly covered by the overhangs of the massive doors. Large alloy wheels, dual exhaust, and a plastic all-round body kit harmoniously fit into a well-thought-out, moderately aggressive image.
Family values are still a priority for the Korean Santa Fe 3, so the trunk volume has increased by 10% - 585/1680 liters. At the same time, voluminous underground niches remained. Among the acquisitions, it is worth noting the convenient folding back row and a 220 V socket. The only thing missing is an electric rear door. Many competitors can boast of this.

Inside

The interior organically echoes appearance crossover. Most of the torpedo is made of soft plastic with inserts made of natural and artificial leather. The front panel cannot be called an example of ergonomics. If in the previous version it was turned towards the driver, now it is strictly symmetrical. The starter key brings to life not only the engine, but also the panel with rich colors and excellent readability in any light.

It’s nice that the 3rd generation Santa Fe retains the values for which rear row passengers loved it so much - the ability to increase legroom, recline the backrest and sit comfortably on a comfortable chair on a long journey. A folding wide armrest with retractable cup holders also remains. Of the acquisitions, it’s nice to have it in basic configuration heated rear seats, which is not common in this class.

The steering wheel has 10 buttons, a pair of double-armed keys and two rocker levers. But this option is not perceived as brute force, because they are arranged in 4 logical blocks. Like everyone else latest models Hyundai, Santa Fe has a button that changes the steering effort: Normal, Sport, Comfort. Among the innovations and also included in the base is a heated steering wheel.
The installation range of the steering column is not very large. This is compensated for by numerous driver seat servo settings. Particularly good is the lumbar roller, which thanks to its four directions electrical adjustments and with a wide stroke, can give an impromptu massage of the lower back. The passenger's seat, like the driver's, is limited by reinforced lateral support.

The ventilation system for the perforated leather seats has not yet been developed, but this is not far off. The manufacturer does not hide its premium manners new Santa Fe. In terms of price and equipment level, it has outgrown yesterday's competitors - Outlander and Captiva.

Family - 7th

A few words about the 7-seater Hyundai Grand Santa Fe. The first copies rolled off the assembly line in December 2012; sales in Russia started in February 2014. The big brother is made in full accordance with the design and constructive concept of the third Santa, with an increase in wheelbase and dimensions.

The almost five-meter (4915 mm) liner has added 225 mm in length; (1885 mm) - 5 mm in width; (1685 mm) - 10 mm in height; (2800mm) - 100 mm in wheelbase. But the trunk turned out to be only 176 liters when all passengers were seated; its volume was 634 and 1842 liters when the rear rows were folded. The third row, in the form of two stools, is difficult to climb in and out of, and it is cramped and uncomfortable for adult passengers to ride.

Changes (restaling) (07.2015 - 01.2018)

Hyundai Santa Fe 3 has undergone restyling and at the same time received the “Premium” prefix and, as a result, an updated appearance, improved finishing materials and chassis, additional options and high cost. The crossover began to look even more aggressive and respectable thanks to a new hexagonal massive radiator grille with three rows of wide chrome strips, special original optics, and sports bumpers. Inside there is a new multimedia system with an 8-inch screen.

Weaknesses:

  • in winter when the frost is more than -20 rear suspension breaks through significant unevenness;
  • the gasoline engine is rather weak;
  • standard navigation; fragile glass;
  • thin and vulnerable coating of the Santa Fe 3 body.

Strengths:

Main competitors:

Mitsubishi Outlander,
Kia Sorento,
Lexus RX,
Volvo XC60,
Nissan Xtrail,
Nissan Murano,

Renault Koleos.

How is it different from competitors

In terms of maintenance cost, the Hyundai Santa Fe 3 crossover can only be compared with a good Japanese one in the Far East. And the amount of useful functionality in the basic configuration exceeds its analogues. A high-torque, dynamic, economical diesel engine is an indisputable advantage, along with the spaciousness of the interior and cargo compartment.

What to choose from and at what price

The potential buyer's multiple choice test consists of choosing an engine (gasoline or diesel), gearbox (6-speed manual or automatic), type of drive (front-wheel or all-wheel drive) and one of six Santa Fe 3 trim levels. Prices for used cars range from 900 to 1900 thousand rubles. New cars from official dealer Hyundai have a price tag/thousand rubles: Start - 1964 (only gasoline engine), Comfort - 2059, Dynamic - 2189, High-Tech - 2309. Diesel engine starts with the second version of the specification with an additional payment of 145 thousand rubles. in 2018 prices. Hyundai's traditional extended warranty of 5 years or 120 thousand km covers the engine and gearbox. Everything else, from bumper to bumper, is covered by a 3-year warranty contract limited to 100 thousand mileage.

Conclusion

Over 10 years, the Hundai Santa Fe has transformed from a simple bumpkin, a kind of shirt-guy with excellent driving characteristics, reliable and durable parts budget car for the broad middle class into a premium, high-quality crossover, which is not a shame to transfer from a classmate from Europe or Japan. Among the achievements of this generation, the third Santa received top scores in crash tests from the Institute for Highway Safety.

The new 3rd generation Hyundai Santa Fe crossover debuted in 2012. And already in 2015, the Korean manufacturer updated this all-terrain vehicle, which after restyling received the Premium prefix to its name.

Exterior

The new Hyundai Santa Fe 2017-2018 looks respectable. We have a nice Korean crossover with a strict, precise design, straight lines and laconic relief. Definitely, appearance can be considered an asset of the model; it certainly shouldn’t interfere with sales.

In the center of the front end there is a hexagonal radiator grille with three horizontal darkened fins. Above it, at the edges, there are head optics “eyes”.

Under the headlights there are complex design slots with built-in fog lights with a metal frame and a strip of LED DRLs top edge. At the bottom center is a small trapezoidal lower grille.

The profile of the Hyundai Santa Fe Premium 2017 in the new body is made in a traditional crossover style with a slightly lowered hood, a sloping roofline with a shark fin antenna and a spoiler protruding back.

The side relief expresses a "shoulder" line that rises along the road to the rear and ends at the lamps. Darkened ones look beautiful alloy wheels, combined with decorative body inserts of a similar shade.

Stern new Hyundai Santa Fe Premium 2017-2018 is slightly tilted forward and starts with an overhanging spoiler visor with an integrated brake light, quite large rear lights, divided into two parts by opening doors.

Salon

The 2016-2017 Hyundai Santa Fe salon is still far from the Premium prefix in the name, struggling with it with a large amount of plastic, complex shapes of ventilation deflectors and a number of other solutions.

Conservatives should like the interior of this model - no newfangled sensors, washers, flags and other high-tech "chips" - a real kingdom of classic buttons that provide familiar and effective control.

The driver of the new Santa Fe Premium has at his disposal an ergonomic multifunctional 3-spoke steering wheel. The buttons, in addition to the left and right spokes, are also located on the lower divided one.

The instrument cluster is made according to the traditional design - two analogue wells for the speedometer and tachometer and an information display between them. A screen is located in the center between the broken ventilation deflectors multimedia system, and below it is a rather large push-button control unit.

The front seats are comfortable, with good lateral support and are quite suitable for long trips. The rear is spacious and comfortable, the floor is almost flat. But calling the rear sofa a three-seater is a stretch.

Characteristics

The updated Hyundai Santa Fe Premium 2017 can be called universal family crossover. It is suitable for driving around the city and going to the country or nature on weekends.

The main drawback of the model after its release in 2012 was the weak and stiff suspension, the problems of which were not solved during the update process, although, in fairness, it is worth noting that the situation did improve a little.

The new body of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2016-2017 has the following dimensions: length 4,700 mm, width - 1,880 mm, height - 1,685 mm, and wheelbase is 2,700 mm. The curb weight, depending on the engine, varies from 1,793 to 1,907 kg. Volume luggage compartment standard 585 liters, and with the rear row seats folded - 1,680 kg.

The car is equipped with independent spring suspension: McPherson type at the front, multi-link at the rear. Disc brakes (ventilated front) are installed on both axles. Wheels 235/65 R17 or 235/55 R19. Ground clearance not impressive - only 185 mm.

Power range Russian version The new Santa Fe 3 Premium consists of two engines: a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated petrol four with a power of 171 hp. and 225 Nm of torque, as well as a 2.2-liter diesel engine with an output of 200 hp. and 440 Nm. For petrol, a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, and diesel only works with an automatic transmission.

Price in Russia

The Hyundai Santa Fe 3 Premium crossover was sold in Russia in four trim levels: Start, Comfort, Dynamic and High-Tech. The price of the Hyundai Santa Fe Premium 2018 ranged from 1,964,000 to 2,459,000 rubles.

AT6 - six-speed automatic transmission
AWD four-wheel drive(plug-in)
D - diesel engine

Called Hyundai Santa Fe Sport in Europe, and simply Hyundai Santa Fe III (third generation) in our country, this crossover is one of the most popular cars in its class.

Exterior

The exterior of the car is created in the concept of flowing lines. Indeed, it turned out quite impressive. The design is both attractive and fluid, but there is nothing overtly garish or eccentric about it. The front end meets a large, chromed radiator grille, 2-color front bumper, sharpened optics and fog lights, as well as a sloping hood. It won’t be difficult to recognize the new Hyundai Santa Fe from the front.

The profile of the car also did not disappoint - everything is proportional and harmonious. Massive doors with stampings at the bottom and top, covering the entire rear fender and a little of the front fender. Round fuel filler flap, small glass rear doors and a slightly littered roof.

The stern came out very thoroughbred, with a dual exhaust, a spectacular rear wing, and elongated feet. What makes the whole car recognizable is plastic body kit in a circle, successfully harmonizing with large alloy wheels.

Interior

Hyundai Santa Fe salon III generation made soundly, with high quality and in the signature Hyundai style. A wavy dashboard, decorated with original-shaped air deflectors, as well as a nice and informative dashboard with soft blue backlighting and deep wells in which the speedometer and tachometer are “hidden”. The center console is crowned with a large display under a special visor that improves visibility and prevents glare.

Below the screen is an options control base. Visually, this sector is distinguished by 2 “twists”, strewn with keys on all sides. However, the ergonomics are excellent - nothing gets in the way on the road, everything is in its place. The gear lever is very comfortable, and the buttons around it complete what didn't fit on the dashboard. The finishing materials are of high quality, there is enough space in the cabin for everyone - even tall and tall passengers can easily sit in the back and will not feel discomfort on a long journey.

The seats are comfortable, equipped with excellent lateral support, moderately tight and have a lot of adjustments. The rear sofa is clearly designed for two; it has an armrest and other nice little things. The trunk volume is quite decent - 585 (1,680) liters. In addition, excellent sound insulation of the Santa Fe was noted on all test drives. In this regard, the Koreans did a great job - they installed thicker glass and additional insulation mats - all this reliably protects riders from bottom noise, wind whistle and engine growl, although diesel engine gives himself away.

Engines

On the list power units The crossover has 2 engines (petrol and diesel). These are 4-cylinder, in-line units.

  • The first is a 2.4-liter injection engine running on gasoline. Its output reaches 175 horses, and its thrust is 227 Nm of torque. But to get peak power, you need to spin the engine up to 6,000 rpm, which is difficult to do in the city. Acceleration to hundreds varies, depending on the drive and gearbox. As a result, it differs by a second: from 10.6 seconds. up to 11.6 sec. As for fuel consumption, the stated figures are relatively modest - 7.1 liters of gasoline on the highway, 8.7 liters in the city-highway mode, and 11.5 liters in the concrete jungle.

These data are typical for Santa Fe with front-wheel drive and MT. If an automatic transmission and a 4x4 layout are on board, then the consumption increases by about a liter in all respects. However, everything suggests that in real life the numbers will be slightly higher, however, much will depend on the driving style and terrain.

  • The second was the 2.2-liter turbocharged heavy fuel unit, with direct injection. It would be hard to say that it is much more powerful. 22 horses (power is 197 horses) - not God knows what an advantage. But it’s all about the torque, which is almost twice as high - 436 Nm. It is equally important that the engine produces maximum power already at 3,800 rpm, and traction even from the very bottom - from 1,800 rpm.

The dynamic characteristics of a diesel engine are also better - it takes 10 seconds to accelerate to hundreds. Another advantage of a “solar-eating” engine is significantly lower fuel consumption. So, he drinks about 5 liters outside the city, well, a little more. Mixed mode drains the tank by 6.4 liters every 100 km, and in the city the data increases to 8.7 liters. Naturally, in real life the consumption is always higher than according to the passport, but even in this case, the fuel savings are very significant. And the range, considering the 64-liter tank, is quite decent.

checkpoint

The new Hyundai Santa Fe 2014 model year is equipped with different gearboxes. For those who like complete control over the road and the car, a 6-speed “stick” is offered. However, it must be taken into account that it is paired only with a 2.4-liter engine, and is also combined with both types of drive.

To those who advocate technological solutions, it is recommended to purchase a car with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This box is equipped with both versions - gasoline and diesel, regardless of the drive. In principle, for such a car a 6-speed is quite enough.

Suspension and drive

The suspension on the Santa Fe is completely independent. There is a simple McPherson at the front, and a multi-link arrangement at the rear. This immediately suggests that the crossover is not intended to overcome serious off-road conditions. His native element is asphalt roads (ideally good ones).

As for the brakes, ventilated disc sets are installed at the front, while rear axle you have to be content with regular disk ones. Apparently, tests have shown that this approach is quite sufficient.

Driving sensations

A review of the Hyundai Santa Fe 3 showed conflicting impressions. It will not be possible to dot all the “e”s right away, since the car behaves differently, which directly depends on the specific operating conditions.

It’s clear right away that such a crossover is perfectly suited for driving in city traffic. The engines pull well from below, so at traffic lights you can not only ride in the crowd, but also constantly be ahead of the flow. It’s just that the diesel version takes a little getting used to - acceleration is sketchy. When you press the pedal, the car reacts weakly in the first second, as if preparing for a jerk, and then accelerates sharply. But if you get used to this, and also to the heavily damped accelerator pedal, then when driving diesel version, you will truly enjoy it.

The gasoline modification of the Hyundai is calmer. Main reason- much less torque, which is also located higher. Although many argue that it is easier to dose traction in a car with gasoline engine. In general, neither version is suitable for dynamic driving - the units are not the most powerful, and the weight is considerable (when fully loaded it is 2,510 kg).

As for traveling on the highway, the situation here is special. Staying confidently in the flow of work will not be difficult, but you should go out for long overtaking sessions with extreme caution. Ideally, you need to correctly predict the situation and perform similar maneuvers on the move, having previously accelerated the Santa Fe to the required speed. After all, if you have to slow down, you won’t be able to quickly restore it. In mountainous areas it’s a total disaster, especially in petrol modification. The engine clearly does not have enough air, as a result of which there is too little thrust - the engine cannot even spin up to the red zone, not to mention hitting the cutoff. The Hyundai Santa Fe 3 diesel, thanks to turbocharging, conquers peaks much easier, so it’s better to travel through mountainous terrain with it.

As for the “automatic”, it clearly lacks decisiveness. Upshifts are smooth, but he does it lazily, and downshifts even more reluctantly. Manual mode doesn't help. “Taxiing” is not bad - the reactions are clear, transparent and predictable, but there is no enthusiasm, and the steering wheel settings, which allow you to choose one of 3 driving modes, are nothing more than a tribute to fashion, since they have almost no practical use.

The suspension is ambiguous. Its undoubted advantage is the comfort of movement. The Santa Fe is not rigid like many other models. But I want to praise the car only as long as it drives on good asphalt. On poor surfaces (especially with swells), the character of the chassis becomes apparent. On the one hand, it is quite long-stroke, but main problem- the amplitude of the wave buildup persists for an excessively long time, making it difficult to control the crossover. The Hyundai suspension copes well with small road irregularities, but on large ones it capitulates almost immediately. To the merciless shaking (affected by the lack of energy capacity) and wave buildup are added frequent breakdowns of the racks, which are shorted to the compression buffers. So move around with high speed It is not recommended on a bad road - comfort will disappear, and the suspension will last a long time.

Many people are concerned about the issue of off-roading. Santa Fe doesn't shine on this path. But to figure this out, you don’t need to be clairvoyant or drive a car into arable land. Just look at the ground clearance, which has decreased by 15 mm (compared to the previous generation, it has dropped to 185 mm), the long overhangs of the body and the suspension design. It immediately becomes clear that the hero of our story has practically no chance on serious off-road conditions. Of course, the car will not fail before the first oncoming dirt road, but you need to drive extremely carefully, because given the characteristic “squat” on the waves, the risk of denting the thresholds, or something more important, is constantly pursuing.

Another unpleasant surprise when off-road can be a spare tire. It is there, but the Koreans placed it under the bottom, so it is possible that the head of the family will have to climb into the mud to fish it out spare wheel, while recalling the carefree Asians.

Equipment and prices

The colors of the 3rd generation Hyundai Santa Fe can be different: from black to white. So there is freedom of choice in this regard. As for the equipment of the car, there are 6 fixed configurations.

  • The cheapest is the “Base” version. It is only available for gasoline car with front-wheel drive and manual transmission. In principle, it will do for not too demanding passengers - front airbags, electric. systems (EBA, EBD and ABS), 17-inch wheels, fabric interior with heated front seats, cruise control, air conditioning, factory music and acoustics (6 speakers), multifunction steering wheel, on-board computer. Not much, but the essentials are there. The cost of this version is 1,199,000 rubles.
  • Next comes the “Comfort” package, available for any modification. It additionally has side airbags and curtains, as well as HHC, HDC, ESP and ASR systems. The interior adds a leather gearshift lever and steering wheel, 2-zone climate control and heating windshield. • The next version is "Dynamic". It is distinguished by: leather interior, roof rails, light and rain sensors, xenon, rear view camera, LEDs in the feet and a multifunction display. Price - 1,535,000 rub. (2.4 AT 4WD) or RUB 1,675,000. (2.2 CRDi AT 4WD).

  • The “Family” package is available only for the 2.4 AT 4WD version. It has an automatic body level adjustment system, front and rear parking sensors, illumination when entering the cabin, heated rear sofa, 8 speakers, Bluetooth, navigation and voice control. Price tag - 1,629,000 rubles.
  • The “Sport” modification is distinguished by a driver’s knee cushion, automatic switching on"emergency lights" when emergency braking, 18-inch wheels, headlight washers, push-button starter with keyless entry and heated steering wheel. The price for a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe with this equipment is RUB 1,629,000. (2.4 AT 4WD) or RUB 1,769,000. (2.2 CRDi AT 4WD).
  • The top version "High-Tech" boasts a tire pressure monitoring system, 19-inch titans, a panoramic roof, automatic parking and memory settings for the driver's seat. The cost is 1,749,000 rubles. (2.4 AT 4WD), or RUB 1,889,000. (2.2 CRDi AT 4WD).

Bottom line

Hyundai Santa Fe is a solid and attractive crossover for the city. It is under these conditions that its advantages manifest themselves. But driving on highways with poor surfaces or off-road will not leave a pleasant impression. The price of the Hyundai Santa Fe fluctuates over a wide range and is explained by the large number of trim levels.

Called “Santa Fe Sport” in Europe (and in Russia “simply Santa Fe”), the five-seater crossover is the next generation of one of the most popular cars in its class. The Koreans managed to combine a high level of safety, comfort and advanced workmanship with modern features, allowing this crossover to easily compete with more expensive Europeans.

In general, the Koreans are only improving every time, and this happened in 2012 with the advent of the third generation of the mid-size crossover.

The appearance of the “third” Hyundai Santa Fe is quite modern and attractive. The exterior is designed in a bold style that can attract the attention of a wide audience of potential buyers. We especially highlight the elongated silhouette of the body, topped with “strict” headlights, peering intently into the road surface. You can also note the abundance of prominent stamps decorating not only the hood, but also the sides of the car. By 2015 (shortly before the “large-scale restyling”) for the Santa Fe, the shade of the chrome plating of the radiator grille was slightly changed.

In terms of dimensions, the third generation car has not changed much: length is 4690 mm, height – 1675 mm, width – 1880 mm, wheelbase – 2700 mm, and ground clearance – 185 mm. The trunk volume is 585 liters, and with the rear seat folded down it increases to 1680 liters. By the way, at the beginning of 2015, Santa Fe added a “smart” electric trunk drive to the list of equipment (the car owner just needs to have the car key with him - stand behind the car, wait 3 seconds - the trunk lid will open automatically).

The interior of the Hyundai Santa Fe crossover in the 3rd generation has noticeably stepped forward and is now persistently catching on the heels of European giants. Korean engineers took into account all the mistakes of the past and created a truly cozy car With high level comfort. The front seats are equipped with lateral support, and the rear seats fold down conveniently, increasing the luggage compartment.

The quality of the finishing materials and its execution are at their best: there are no “crooked” seams, clearly creaking panels or other “joys” in the cabin. The front panel has a bold, bold layout with original design, immediately attracting increased attention. The only thing I can complain about is the steering wheel, which is made too thin. In addition, the display control buttons located at the bottom on-board computer not entirely convenient due to its location.

If we talk about technical characteristics, in Russia the 3rd generation five-seater Hyundai Santa Fe crossover is offered with two powertrain options.

  • As the main engine, the developers chose the improved Theta II gasoline engine with a displacement of 2.4 liters (2359 cm³), capable of developing 175 hp. (129 kW) at 6000 rpm. The engine is equipped new system distributed fuel injection with variable geometry injectors and complies with environmental standards of Euro-4 standard. The maximum torque of this engine is 227 Nm at 3750 rpm. The available engine power is quite enough to reach the upper speed ceiling of 190 km/h, while accelerating to the first hundred on the speedometer the new product will spend about 11.4 seconds in the case of a 6-speed manual transmission and 11.6 seconds with a 6-speed "automatically". Average fuel consumption in mixed operating mode is about 8.9 liters of gasoline, in city traffic 11.7/12.3 liters (manual/automatic transmission), and on the highway - 7.3 and 6.9 liters, respectively.
  • The second engine is diesel unit R 2.2 VGT. This unit has a displacement of 2.2 liters (2199 cm³) and develops 197 hp. (145 kW) power at 3800 rpm. The engine is equipped with an injection system Common Rail third generation, electronic turbocharger, recirculation system cooler exhaust gases EGR and piezo injectors with operating pressure up to 1800 bar. Peak torque diesel unit falls at 436 Nm at 1800-2500 rpm, which allows the crossover to accelerate to the same maximum 190 km/h, taking only 9.8 seconds to raise the needle from 0 to 100 km/h. Comes with diesel unit only automatic transmission, and its average fuel consumption is about 6.6 liters in mixed driving mode, 5.3 liters on the highway and 8.8 liters in city traffic.

The suspension of the third generation Santa Fe has changed significantly in settings, which was dictated by changes in the vehicle's ground clearance and center of gravity. As a result, on a flat road the new vehicle has become easier to control, confidently hold its course, easily take turns at speed and ensure peace and comfort for passengers. But when sensitive bumps, holes or unpaved surfaces appear, noticeable shaking begins to be felt, increased noise in the cabin, as well as a decrease in the stability of the car. But, however, this is typical for almost all crossovers of this class. In general, the suspension of the “third Santa Fe” is still independent, using MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link system at the rear. Brake system disc, ventilated at the front, equipped with wear sensors and separate drums on rear wheels For parking brake With electronically controlled. The steering is complemented by an electric power steering with three switchable operating modes: Comfort, Normal and Sport.

It is worth mentioning the security options. During tests according to Euro NCAP standards, the third generation of this crossover was awarded five stars. In particular, we note that the level of safety for an adult passenger is at around 96%, and the level of protection for pedestrians in the event of a collision is 71%. Moreover, in January of this year, the same Euro NCAP association awarded the new Hyundai Santa Fe crossover with the title of “safest car” in its class.
