Specifications KIA Optima 2018

Now on new sedan install any of the 3 motors, the first two units were already present in the last generation, and now they have added another new one.

  1. AT basic configuration a 2-liter unit is installed, which is known to the owners of the previous generation. For those who do not know, this is a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which gives out 150 horses with its volume. With this engine, the car picks up the first hundred in 9.6 seconds, and maximum speed is 205 km/h. This is the only unit that is offered in tandem with a mechanical and automatic transmission gears. He uses 10 liters in the city.
  2. The second engine has a volume of 2.4 liters, it is still a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine. The power of this unit is 188 forces, and it accelerates the sedan to the first hundred in 9 seconds. The maximum speed is 210 km / h, and the consumption is 12 liters of 95th gasoline in the city.
  3. The new engine is also a 2-liter engine, but already equipped with a turbocharger and now its power is 245 horses. With this engine, the KIA Optima 2019 sedan accelerates to hundreds in 7.4 seconds, and the maximum speed will be 240 km/h. This engine consumes 12 liters in the city, and on the highway it will need 6 liters.

Interior

The third generation model will please the owner with a presentable interior, high quality seat upholstery and trim. And this is not surprising, because the car is presented as a representative of business class sedans.

The salon has become much more spacious due to the expansion of the wheelbase.

Noise isolation has improved significantly in quality, the cabin has become much quieter. An additional soundproofing shield reduces the intake of engine sound into the passenger compartment.

The model is equipped with a number of functional and interior bonuses:

  • Armchairs have become anatomically more adapted and comfortable;
  • The built-in bluetooth headset will allow the driver to communicate with the interlocutor using Hands-Free technology. Calls will be output to the speaker, and the microphone is built into the ceiling space above the driver;

  • Cruise control will become an indispensable assistant on fast lane. By holding one speed, the function not only makes the trip easier for the driver, but also saves fuel;
  • The steering wheel can also be adjusted for height and reach.

The build quality is top notch!

Suspension KIA Optima 2018

In a car, the suspension characteristics are not bad, it is an independent suspension with a stabilizer both front and rear. Earlier versions had rear suspension coil spring (2000) and transverse stabilizer(2005 year).

Kia ground clearance Optima is the distance between the road and the lowest part of the car. To be more precise, the clearance is considered, according to factory standards, from the threshold vehicle to the road. Ground clearance directly affects the aerodynamics of the car, as well as streamlining.

Clearance

The ride height of the Kia Optima is from 145 to 155 mm. But be careful when going on vacation or returning with purchases: a loaded car will easily lose 2-3 centimeters of ground clearance.

If desired, the clearance of any car can be increased with the help of spacers for shock absorbers. The car will be higher. However, it will lose its former stability at high speeds and lose a lot in maneuverability. The ground clearance can also be reduced, for this, as a rule, it is enough to replace the standard shock absorbers with tuning ones: handling and stability will please you right away.

Methods for increasing ground clearance

Since the road surface on the territory of the CIS countries generally leaves much to be desired, pits and potholes, many Optima owners try to increase the height of the clearance in order to avoid damage to the protective elements of the body, such as bumpers and sills. This can be done in several ways. The most common is the installation of spacers or springs with shock absorbers. Let's consider both options.

Spacers

Spacers are rubber-metal plates that are inserted between the body and the shock absorber to increase the vehicle's ride height. These refinement parts can be found in automotive markets or in auto shops. Since the cost is much lower than shock absorbers and springs, most motorists prefer spacers.

Consider the sequence of work for installing spacers:

  • We carry out the dismantling of the shock absorber strut together with all components.
  • We dismantle the metal cover that fixes the spring.
  • Install the spacer so that it is between two metal plates.
  • We mount the fixing bolts, with which the rack will then be fixed on the glass.
  • Set the rack to standard seat.

Thus, it is possible to increase ground clearance on Kia Optima by 15-20 mm.

Shock absorbers and springs

Another way to increase ground clearance on the Optima is to install high shock absorbers and springs. To do this, you need to find a set of non-standard chassis to increase the clearance. Usually, motorists go to tuning shops or the car market to buy this type of spare parts.

Installation is done by hand. Old parts are dismantled from the car, and new parts are easily installed on the old seat. So, you do not need to redo or customize anything. The only caveat may be large mounting bolts that need to be cut after installation on the car.

Conclusion

The clearance of Kia Optima for all body types is one and is 145-155 mm, according to the technical documentation provided by the manufacturer. So, to increase ground clearance, motorists use different ways. The most common is the installation of spacers.

Owner reviews

Great car! The car is 1.5 months old. Nice looking, nice handling. Even with a 2.0 liter engine, excellent dynamics. Good soundproofing for high speed. Very light steering wheel, cruise control in the simplest configuration, spacious salon especially at the back.

With my height (190 cm) it is comfortable on any of the seats and there is even a margin of adjustment behind the wheel! The truth is, I can't get used to it. large sizes auto ( previous car was below class). Gasoline consumption is about 7 liters per 100 km on the highway, about 11 liters per 100 km in the city.

Of the shortcomings, I note a small opening in the trunk and large loops. Ground clearance is 155 mm, but it seems to me that it is less. Very soft rear springs - there are two people on the seat, and the rear suspension drawdown is as if there were 500 kg of cargo in the trunk!

Vladimir, drives a Kia Optima 2.4 (150 hp) 2016

Has gained this car after the AUDI Q7 2007, which had an expensive repair. In addition, a car was needed mainly for the track. Of course, Audi rides better, but they are completely different cars.

Six months have passed since the purchase of the Kia Optima GT, we can draw the first conclusions. Rolled carefully. After 10,000 km, the car really became a very decent speaker. From a place it starts not like a hurricane (unpleasantly surprised), but from a speed of 30 km / h it is very brisk, from 50 km / h - with a slip. There are simply no problems with overtaking on the track, the dynamics are very decent at any speed. Definitely not enough all-wheel drive!

Automatic 6-speed, works perfectly. Consumption on the highway on a cruise at a speed of ~ 105 km / h - 6 liters. In the city, 11-12 liters, but with very active driving, you can bring it up to 16. There was a small, fast-moving “triple” of the engine during warm-up, I’ll pay attention to maintenance. Gasoline only 95 from a proven gas station. Doesn't eat oil.

The suspension is very comfortable, really adapts to the road surface. On the primer rides like asphalt. A couple of times on the track, getting into deep and “sharp” pits, the suspension worked on breakdown, which was not very pleasant, but the pits were really big.

Strains a little not "sharp" steering, which practically does not change even depending on the inclusion of the "sport" mode, which cannot be said from the sensations in the dynamics of the car, which differs radically from the "eco" mode. The car does not feel the track.

Lateral seat support is designed, perhaps, only for a very voluminous driver and passenger. Lots of space in the car. The trunk is huge. Behind three passengers are placed very comfortably. Shumka is good, the insulation of the wheel arches fails. The music is great. The climate works great. high beam excellent, but the neighbor, even after additional adjustment (raised a little up), suits only a four.

The owner drives a KIA Optima GT 2.0 (245 hp) 2016.

Car impressions. Everyone says about the 2.0 engine (150 hp) it doesn’t drive, it doesn’t overtake trucks. Well, I don't know, but I'm on my way. Of course, not a fighter, but enough for me. I am a family man, I have children, there is no hurry.

Consumption on the highway in sport mode at a speed of 130-140 km / h is approximately 7.5-9 liters of 95 gasoline, in the city in a calm manner 10-11 liters, in sport mode in the city with air conditioning - 15 liters, without air conditioning - 12-13 l. I have never ridden in eco-mode, they say the consumption will be even lower.

The automatic transmission does not kick in normal mode, you don’t even feel it when it switches, but in sport mode it kicks a little (from second to third). Many write that the box itself adapts to the driving style, so if you drive dynamically (aggressively) all the time in sport mode, then it does not kick.

The suspension is normal on 17-inch wheels, it swallows small and medium bumps, but it is harsh for deep bumps. Handling is good, you don’t feel the speed, but sometimes it recognizes the track under the wheels. Shumka is not bad, but there is noise from the arches. Interior comfort at "five".

What I didn’t like about Optima was the slippery steering wheel, covered with very smooth leather (maybe leatherette). I don't know if it will last long. Also, the car has too wide sills, and the children get their pants dirty all the time.

What I miss in it is a circular view (although in more expensive trim levels there is). The car is big, and the hood is wide, so I won’t get used to the dimensions when I drive into the garage.

Video review

I won't comment on the appearance. In my opinion, it looks solid with a touch of sportiness, but nothing more.

The interior is where it gets interesting. Reminds me of salons German cars, especially Audi five-seven years ago. The console is turned towards the driver. All buttons are at hand. The quality of the materials is on par with the competition and certainly head and shoulders above anything I've ridden in the past.

The trunk is huge. In the underground is a full-size spare tire on cast disk, but there are no additional niches and compartments, although on the same Rio there were convenient compartments for storing small items. In general, in terms of arranging the trunk, for some reason, the Koreans do not look at the same Germans who have a bunch of mesh hooks and other things in the trunk.

Engine and box. The fundamental point when transferring from Rio to new car was that the dynamics of the new car should be better, or the same as in Rio. Rio in manual transmission was very brisk for a cheap car, about 10 seconds to 100 km / h. Accordingly, I didn’t even look at the 2.0-liter Optima, since the power reserve for overtaking on the highway was important for me.

In principle, I did not expect anything supernatural from the 2.4 engine, given the huge mass of the car (1.7 tons, which is 200 kg heavier than the same "six"). In fact, it turned out that Optima is a little more dynamic than Rio. According to the passport, Optima is faster by 1.0 seconds, but this is somehow not felt on the go, perhaps due to much better sound insulation and dimensions.

Suspension. Here is just a breakthrough for the Koreans. I think it's no secret to anyone that the suspension is weak point all Korean cars, not in terms of reliability, but in terms of customization. In the review of Rio, I wrote in detail about this. Optima in this regard is a breakthrough for Korean cars: the suspension is energy-intensive, at the same time it does not sway. Smooth running at a very good level

The owner drives a Kia Optima 2.4 (188 HP) AT 2016.

Where can I buy?

About the salon: there are really a lot of places! For example, in the 2012 Accord, I couldn’t sit down by myself (height 182 cm), and here even my knees don’t reach front seat. The seats are very comfortable, the lower part is long (unlike the Japanese), and there part of the leg always “hangs” in the air.

About the engine: The engine is the #1 reason to buy this car. Under the hood is a 245-horsepower engine, which, with the economy of a conventional four-cylinder, rides no worse, and somewhere even better than six-cylinder ones. I will say in advance that I will not judge the resource, time will tell.

Consumption now does not rise above 10 liters per hundred. While I'm still rolling. Even if you drive actively, I don’t think it will be more than on the Accord, but the car drives in a completely different way.

The automatic machine works slowly, it switches slowly, it seems to me, but with such an engine you don’t notice this, since it pulls from any speed, nullifying the errors of the automatic machine.

The suspension is similar to the chord one, due to the 18-inch wheels it is harsh. With a car that had 16-inch wheels, a huge difference, but you have to pay for beauty with comfort!

Review of Kia Optima GT 2.4 (245 hp) on the machine in 2016

New Kia sedan Optima represents the Korean company Kia in the European D-class. For the first time, the four-door Kia Optima was officially presented at the New York auto show in the spring of 2011; Russian sales of the car started in February 2012. In fact, we are in the third generation Kia Magentis, but Korean marketers decided that in Europe, as in the United States, the car will be sold under one sonorous name Optima. As part of our review, we will try to tell our readers in detail about the appearance and interior of the car, the proposed enamel colors for painting the body, installed on car tires, wheels and accessories. We will evaluate the convenience of placing the driver and passengers, the dimensions of the trunk, the ergonomics and quality of the interior materials, filling the car with comfort and safety functions. We will not ignore the technical characteristics, we will conduct a test drive, find out real consumption fuel and what is the price for Korean Kia sedan Optima 2013 in Russia. Traditionally, our assistants will be reviews of owners, comments by auto journalists, photo and video materials.

More new business class:

The appearance of the Kia Optima sedan is so bright and attractive that it is time to exhibit the car to participate in a beauty contest. Yes, and it cannot be otherwise for a Korean manufacturer in recent years. With the arrival of designer Peter Schreyer, the whole the lineup Kia began to look stylish and original, but most importantly, the cars had a corporate family style.

  • The Kia Optima sedan is not a small car, dimensions are: 4845 mm long, 1830 mm wide, 1455 mm high, 2795 mm wheelbase, 145-150 mm ground clearance (clearance).

The front part of the body is decorated with a branded radiator grille (tightened with a fine mesh), located in the embrace of narrow headlights (xenon as an option). Sculptural front bumper a fairing with a slot for an additional air intake, a bright aerodynamic lip along the lower edge, original foglight triangles and stylish strokes of LED daytime running lights. The large plane of the hood is drawn with two ribs forming relief transitions into the immodest wheel arches of the sedan.

When reviewing a car from the side, we reveal a harmonious proportional body with a soft line of a roof falling to the stern, mirrors with LED repeaters, a high side window sill, large doorways, a stylish rear rack roofs, large radii wheel arches with neat edges, a powerful rear end. The stern of the sedan looks somewhat heavy, but not without attractiveness.

Powerful bloat rear arches harmoniously combined with a large bumper, these body parts look like a single whole, so smoothly and harmoniously flow into one another. Large and beautiful shades of marker lamps look like expensive crystal chandeliers, especially with LED filling. The boot lid has a compact top surface and is complemented by a miniature spoiler (Premium version), its large vertical part, when opened, provides easy access to luggage compartment. The Kia Optima sedan really looks great, the most important thing is harmonious and original.

  • Bright colors of enamel complement the successful exterior design: Snow White Pearl (white mother-of-pearl), Satin Metal (metal), Bright Silver (bright silver), Light Graphite (light graphite), Platinum Graphite (platinum-graphite), Santorini Blue (blue) , Metal Bronze (bronze), Golden Beat (dark gold), Spicy Red (dark red), Temptation Red (tempting red) and Ebony Black (black).
  • A beautiful car needs stylish alloy wheels, Kia Optima with tires and wheels is in perfect order. All versions from the base flaunt on light alloy wheels from 16 to 18 sizes. For the Comfort version, wheels 205/65/R16, Luxe and Prestige are equipped with tires 215/55/R17, rich equipment Premium with 225/45/R18 tires on sports rims.

Salon Kia Optima large, to match external dimensions sedan. On the first and second row with a tangible margin in all directions will accommodate the driver and his four companions.
Let's Evaluate Convenience First back row. Three passengers will fit comfortably, legroom with a margin, a tunnel on the floor of a minimum height, getting in and out of the car is convenient, there are ventilation deflectors. The back of the seats, which is heavily littered back, somewhat spoils the positive impression, but it is possible to rank this drawback as an advantage that provides an imposing landing. As a bonus in expensive trim levels rear seats heated, and in the maximum even with ventilation.
Front seats with insufficient lateral support, it will be convenient for a large driver and passenger. Starting with the basic configuration, heated first-row seats and electric lumbar support for the driver's seat are installed. With the increase in the cost of the sedan, first the driver's seat, and then the passenger's seat will acquire electrical adjustments, and the driver's seat will also have a memory of the settings.

The driver's workplace is worthy of praise: comfortable multifunctional steering wheel with height and depth adjustment, informative and beautiful Supervision instruments with color screen trip computer(not available in the initial configuration Comfort), which displays the mass useful information up to the position of the front wheels !!!, the center console is turned towards the driver, a high tunnel with the gear knob placed in the right place, a comfortable armrest. It is pleasant and convenient to use the audio system settings knobs, climate control, auxiliary function buttons. Interior finishing materials - soft textured plastics, fabric, artificial and genuine leather - are tactilely pleasant. The assembly of interior elements is neat and of high quality.

Already the initial equipment of Kia Optima boasts the presence of a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear selector, 8 airbags, separate climate control, fairly advanced music (radio CD MP3 AUX USB 6 speakers) with steering wheel controls, ABS, ESS, electric power steering controls, electric drive with folding function and heated mirrors, heated wiper rest area, fog lights and LED daytime running lights, adaptive sports shock absorbers.
The richly packaged Kia Optima Premium sedan, in addition to the above options, has a sports bumper and spoiler on the trunk lid, xenon cornering headlights, LED lamps in position lamps, combined seat trim (fabric and leather), heated steering wheel, faux leather trim for door panels, dashboard and center consoles, illuminated door sills, aluminum pedals, Smart Key keyless entry with push-button engine start, electric handbrake, power driver and passenger seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, panoramic roof and an electric sunroof, rain and light sensors, cruise control, an Infinity audio system with 7 speakers, a color screen for displaying navigator maps and images from the rear view camera, parking sensors, a parallel parking assistant, a system exchange rate stability(ESC), system active management(VSM) and Hill Start Assist (HAC).
The trunk of the Korean Kia Optima sedan is designed to accommodate 505 liters of cargo, the opening is large and comfortable. You can significantly increase the cargo capacity of the sedan by lowering the back of the rear seats.

Technical Kia specifications Optima 2012-2013 release: for Russian motorists, the car is offered with two petrol four-cylinder engines:

  • A 2.0-liter MPI (150 hp) paired with a 6 manual transmission (or automatic transmission 6 automatic transmission) accelerates the sedan to 100 mph in 9.5 (10.6) seconds and a top speed of 210 (208 mph). Depending on the installed gearboxes and equipment, the curb weight of the car varies from 1443 kg to 1526 kg. Passport fuel consumption in mixed mode 7.0 (7.6) liters.

AT real conditions exploitation two-liter engine in tandem with an automatic, it consumes 7-7.5 liters on a suburban highway, 11-13 liters in urban mode, with mechanics, gasoline consumption is slightly lower - 6.5-7 liters outside the city and 10-12 in the city.

  • The 2.4-liter MPI (180 hp) is paired with 6 automatic transmissions and provides dynamism up to 100 mph in 9.5 seconds, a top speed of 210 mph. Claimed fuel consumption in combined mode is 8.1 liters. Depending on the installed options, the weight of the car is from 1542 kg to 1619 kg.

This engine in real conditions will require 7-7.5 liters on the highway and 12-13 liters in urban mode when driving in heavy traffic.
The Kia Optima sedan is built on a front-wheel drive platform, the suspension is completely independent, MacPherson struts in front, multi-link rear, electric power steering, disc brakes.

Test drive Kia Optima 2013: the suspension makes a dual impression, the chassis does not notice small and medium bumps in the road and pits, the car seems to hover above the road, there is silence in the cabin. Broken roads with large pits, sharp edges of the joints of the roadway, tram rails, the suspension notices and transmits blows to the body and interior. Steering with a pleasant heaviness on the steering wheel, but, alas, the information content is very weak. You don’t want to aggressively storm turns while driving the Optima, its strong point is in excellent directional stability when driving on a straight road with a minimum of turns. Even at a speed of 150-160 km / h, the car holds the road remarkably well, giving driving pleasure. In our opinion, the car was created mainly for the US market, it is for this reason that the steering is devoid of sharpness, the suspension is tuned for comfort, the brake pedal is tight and uninformative. It should be noted right away that the 2.0 (150 hp) engine is rather weak for a sedan weighing under 1500 kg.
In general, the car deserves attention due to the chic appearance, big and comfortable salon collected from quality materials, a wide range of configurations. But the question of price raises some doubts.

How much it costs: the price in Russia for Kia Optima 2012-2013 in car dealerships starts from 959,900 rubles for an initial rather modest by business class standards Comfort package with 150 horsepower engine and mechanics. Buy in the salon official dealer Kia Optima with 2.4 (180 hp 6 automatic transmission) costs from 1,139,900 rubles per complete set Luxe, well, at the top - the sale of an expensive version of Premium for a cost of 1,339,900 rubles. Issues such as tuning, maintenance, repairs and spare parts are mainly dealt with through the official service. However, spare parts for Kia Optima, like any other Kia cars, it is quite possible to order via the Internet on your own, and at the same time, as usual, save.
So whether the Korean business sedan Kia Optima is the best choice is up to motorists to decide. On our own, we can only add that the quality of workmanship Korean cars has improved significantly in recent years and is comparable to Japanese cars.

5.03.2017

The clearance of the Kia Optima is one of the characteristics that buyers of this car are often interested in. And no wonder, ground clearance to a large extent determines the capabilities of the car. On rural, bad, snowy roads, when passing obstacles and avoiding them on the side of the road, a tall car has the advantage of better flotation and protection from damage. On the smooth roads, on the contrary, low ground clearance is needed, it makes the center of gravity lower, which increases the stability and controllability of the car. The ride height of the Kia depends mainly on design features, incorporated during the design, but it can be changed independently using suspension tuning parts, rubber with a higher or lower profile, spacers and other elements.

Real clearance figures for Optima

Optima belongs to the D-class sedans and its clearance is quite comparable with the models of this class. traffic data skylight kia Optima differ even from dealers. Some claim a figure of 145 mm, while others indicate 155 mm in the documentation. In some sources, you can find a figure of 160 mm. So what is the reason for such discrepancies and what is the clearance of the Kia Optima in reality? To answer this question especially for the readers of the site, the author of this article was not too lazy to stock up on a tape measure and go to the nearest Kia dealer to conduct an experiment. When measuring the clearance of the Optima on 17 wheels (there were no others available), the ground clearance in the lowest places turned out to be approximately 155 mm. The same was indicated in the section specifications on the dealer's website. Where do the figures of 145 and 160 cm come from? The fact is that the height of the clearance depends on the height of the tires used. In addition to 17-inch wheels on the Kia Optima, 16 or 18 wheels are often installed. This gives a small difference in ground clearance.

Ground clearance of 155 mm can be called quite good for a sedan in this class, although this is unlikely to play a serious role in its cross-country ability. Due to the rather long base, Optima is afraid of high bumps and speed bumps. Curb rides are also not her forte, and large objects should not be passed between the wheels either. But instead of all this, the car offers excellent handling, stability on the road and lack of roll in corners.
