Cerato performed well in , only slightly inferior to the latest Hyundai Elantra(largely thanks to less powerful motor) and beating such a strong player as the Nissan Sentra. However, four years by today's standards is a critical period for the production of a car in its unchanged form. And today, the Koreans are presenting us with an updated sedan, which should be even a little better.

Fog lights in front bumper received a modified shape, vertical air intakes “cut through” along the edges. Secondly, expensive versions of Cerato are now equipped with LED taillights. Together with a modified trim at the bottom of the bumper and an oval muffler (it was round before restyling), they noticeably refresh the look of Cerato. And only in profile, the updated car is almost impossible to distinguish from its predecessor.

By the way, all the cosmetic changes described above did not affect the geometric dimensions of the machine. Updated Cerato millimeter to millimeter repeats the dimensions of its predecessor. Length, width, height and wheelbase are 4560, 1780, 1445 and 2700 mm, respectively.

There are hardly more changes inside than outside. You can bend your fingers - one hand is enough. The finish of the selector of the machine and the shape of the buttons at its base have changed. There were no problems with the quality of the interior, and no. Most plastic panels that you can reach with your hand are soft. In this sense, Cerato is preferable to the Hyundai Elantra co-platform. Yes, and ergonomics are in order. As soon as the tachometer needle approaches the red zone, the interior is filled with an unpleasant hum and forces you to leave the right pedal alone. I hope that the issue of sound insulation in Kia will be resolved promptly - without waiting for a generational change or the next upgrade. However, let's get back to the technical component.

At Cerato 2017 model year debuted a new electric power steering. It is installed directly on the steering rack, and its settings, according to the manufacturer, should provide better feedback than its predecessor. To be honest, I do not remember the behavior of the pre-reform Cerato very well, but the new one - even in sport mode movement (option Drive mode allows you to change the settings of the engine, automatic and steering) does not shine with sharp reactions. Only the effort on the steering wheel changes - but not the quality of the feedback. Plus, the car remains quite rolled. At the same time, on speed bumps and other point irregularities, the suspension sometimes breaks through. However, consider that I find fault. People who perceive the car solely as a household appliance will not be disappointed. And from a purely consumer point of view, Kia Cerato is really very good. Who else in the class is willing to offer a five-year limited 150,000 km warranty?

And one more thing: during the update, Cerato received several new options, including blind spot monitoring with indicators on the rear-view mirrors, a reverse parking assistance system, as well as the ability to keyless access to luggage compartment. In order for the trunk lid to open automatically, it is enough to approach the car with the key in your pocket and linger at the rear bumper for a couple of seconds. Checked - it works. Very nice.

In general, the update of the third generation Cerato turned out to be rather superficial, but more was not required so far. It's absolutely adequate family car, well equipped even in the basic version. And the fact that the car is produced on a full cycle at the Avtotor enterprise in Kaliningrad allows you to keep the price at an acceptable level. Other things being equal, Kia Cerato is more than 100 thousand rubles cheaper than Elantra, which is assembled from Korean car kits at the same Avtotor. I think it's a great argument!

Sales of the 3rd generation Kia Cerato in Russia started in February 2013, the assembly was carried out at the Avtotor plant. In September 2014, the model switched to a full assembly cycle.

The release date of the new Kia Cerato 2017 model year in Russia is scheduled for the second half of 2016. By that time new model will already appear on the American market under the name Kia Forte.

Specifications

V technical specifications The new Kia Cerato 2017 has two engines (photo): a 1.6-liter 130-horsepower (G4FD) and a 2.0-liter 150-horsepower (G4KD). The less powerful GDI is a more modern unit, which took 4 years and 60 million dollars to develop. The new 16-valve 4-cylinder (in-line) engine is chain driven, direct injection and new system cooling. Unlike its predecessor G4FC, which is installed on Hyundai cars Solaris and Kia Rio, the new G4FD has a continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) system on both shafts (intake and exhaust).

A more powerful and already proven 2.0-liter unit is installed only in the richest Kia trim levels Serato. This motor is from the Theta II family, which replaced the outdated Beta series engines. The two-liter G4KD is an upgraded version of the engine from Kia Magentis(G4KA) with modified intake and exhaust manifolds, SHPG and timing. CVVT system also on both shafts, attachments and firmware upgraded. The real power of such an engine is 163 hp, but for Russia it is underestimated to 150 hp in order to meet transport tax. There are no hydraulic compensators (as in G4FC, G4KD), therefore, after strictly defined mileage intervals (each model has its own), valve adjustment is necessary.

Sales (release date) in Russia

Sales of the pre-reform Kia Cerato in Russia in 2015 amounted to 5,495 cars, and 23,729 cars were sold together with its colleague Kia Seed - best result in the C+ segment. Meanwhile (November 27, 2015), sales of the new Kia Cerato 2017 model year (Korean name - Kia K3) started in South Korea. The price of the sedan in the South Korean market is $13,000. In January of this year, the American version of the sedan, Kia Forte, was presented at the Detroit Auto Show, the production of which will be launched in the near future at a plant in Mexico. The new Kia Cerato 2017 release date in Russia is scheduled for the 3rd quarter of this year (early autumn), a little later than the start of sales of the American version. The configuration and prices of the Russian sedan will become known closer to the start of sales.
