Kia Mohave in Russia is a frame SUV with multi-link suspension. Test drive of the updated Kia Mohave: everything you wanted to know about the frame "Korean" Kia Mohave frame

Rama is losing ground. The once famous "rogues" with a change of generations degenerate into banal SUVs. Jeep Cherokee, Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder has long left the ranks of honest SUVs. But Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and in the third generation remained true to itself - this is the L200 in the guise of a station wagon. Powerful frame, impressive tire size, continuous rear axle and transmission Super Select- what else is needed for complete happiness?

Diesel! And they didn’t offer it for a beginner. And now, a year after the debut on Russian market, Pajero Sport got the same 181‑horsepower 4N15 turbodiesel, already familiar from. He is assisted by an 8-speed automatic. The test car in the Ultimate version costs 3,050,000 rubles.

Mitsubishi's opponent in today's duel is . Also a large frame with an 8-speed automatic and a turbodiesel, but a 3.0-liter and 70 “horses” more powerful. Not quite fair? So after all, Mohave with a similar level of equipment is cheaper - 2,850,000 rubles. It doesn't get any more honest!

Kia Mohave

It debuted back in 2008 and the name clearly hinted that it was focused on the North American market. However, we also sell it. organized at the plant in Kaliningrad. Mohave underwent a facelift last year.

ENGINE:

diesel: 3.0 (250 hp) - from 2,419,900 rubles.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The third generation car debuted back in 2015, but reached our market only in 2016 and only with gasoline engine. Diesel modification appeared this year. The car is assembled in Thailand.

ENGINES:

gasoline: 3.0 (209 hp) - from 2,799,990 rubles.

diesel: 2.4 (181 hp) - from 2,399,000 rubles.

Asian beauty

The image of the current Pajero Sport reminded of the Chinese actor Bolo Yen, familiar to everyone who watched action movies with a nasal translation on VHS cassettes worn to holes. Pumped "Asian" Mitsubishi looks strange. Everything is in order with the face - an oriental squint, muscular front wings. Chromed x-elements on front bumper transmit . But sadness is trouble with the stern. Because of the side windows billowing to the sky, it turned out to be heavy, flowing down to the bumper rear lights only enhance the effect.

I quickly open the door, grab the handle on the A-pillar, and hop into the rocking body. Inside, it's almost an L200, only more expensive - for example, the instrument panel is adorned with a colorful trip computer display. Thai hands are magical not only in massage - they also know how to carefully assemble cars. It's a pity they saved on materials.

Plastic tries very hard to look like soft, but you knock on it - a cork, a gift from Africa. For a pickup it will do, but for a car for three million, I would like more expensive materials. As well as more thoughtful ergonomics. It does not matter that the seat has a minimum set of adjustments - the main thing is that the profile is not bad. Worse, it is slightly deployed relative to the steering wheel and pedals. After a couple of hours landing "in three quarters" begins to tire. Yes, even this savings on trifles. The glass closer is only for the driver. Nice leather on the steering wheel? Only in places of grip, and for others they sacrificed a pair of tarpaulin boots.

Mohave is the complete opposite. Appearance is calm and almost boring. Nothing to complain about. How to get hooked. Kia looked slightly outdated right after its debut. But now, after almost ten years, he is younger. These forms will almost certainly be relevant for another ten years.

Getting into the cabin is a little more difficult than in Mitsubishi: the driver was deprived of a handle on the counter windshield, although the passenger was not forgotten. Feel? It was like moving from economy to business class. The plastic is soft not only to the touch, but also in appearance, the painted inserts on the center console are skillfully disguised as metal, and there is something “wooden”. Updated, Mohave found a new instrument panel with moonlight and red arrows. Simple and elegant. And there is no feeling that they saved on me: the landing is correct, the seat is with a lumbar support, the steering wheel is electrically adjustable in height. Who would have told me five years ago that the interior of the "Korean" would be better and richer than that of the sacred Pajero!

Places for small things - with a margin, and that's good. They drive a large SUV not only to work - it would be nice if the smartphone did not conflict with a glass of coffee because of the “living space”. So it turns out that Kia is a little more intelligent than Mitsubishi in everything.

Your place in the gallery

For passengers, Mohave is a paradise. Spacious, the second row seats move back and forth, the backrest angle is adjustable. There is a separate climate control and seat heating. In the third row, the landing is far from ideal, but you can go. In general, Mohave passengers are in a special position. Only the entrance-exit is not very convenient: the Koreans crossed out the handrails on the racks here too.

Pajero Sport also happens to be seven-seater (cup holders on the sidewall in the trunk clearly indicate this), but only in Thailand. Probably as a reward for a quality build. Russian cars- double row. The rear seats are set much higher than the front ones, in an amphitheater. There is seat cushion heating, you can adjust the air flow from the ceiling vents, but there is no full-fledged climate control.

Only by opening the tailgate, you stop regretting that the Pajero Sport does not have a third row. What a hold! We measured an honest 552 liters “under the curtain”, and if we fold the seats and load things up to the ceiling ... However, Mohave is also an economic small. It is clear that in the seven-seater version, the trunk will be equal in volume to a large travel bag, but with the third row folded down, its capacity almost reaches half a cubic meter (476 liters).

Tractor and diesel driver

I wake up a four-cylinder diesel 4N15, and the interior is filled with tractor rattling. But there are no vibrations, which is nice. Pajero doesn't move - it jumps forward! It's not about the transcendent zeal of the motor, but about the damping of the gas pedal, which must be properly pushed in order to get the result. A noticeable longitudinal buildup on a soft suspension only enhances the dive.

I still have fresh memories of who didn’t “ride” at all. Against its background, Pajero Sport is a sprinter. Twelve plus seconds to 100 km/h for severe diesel machine- tolerable result.

The eight-speed automatic Aisin skillfully compensates for flaws in the accelerator setting and a slight shortage of “pots” and “horses”. The Japanese even fitted huge manual shift paddles. I love these things, but in a frame all-terrain vehicle they look foreign. Much more appropriate is active cruise control, which works pretty well on the highway: it does not allow sudden braking and allows you to adjust the distance to the car in front. The delicacy of his work should be noted by the parking sensors, who paranoidly sounds the alarm with or without.

You start Mohave - and you understand that there are no superfluous cylinders. The three-liter diesel V6 rustles softly at idle, almost without betraying its "heavy" origin. The box is also 8-speed. There are no paddles on the steering wheel, but they are not needed: 549 Newton meters carry the Mohave forward, dissolving the Pajero in the rear-view mirrors. There is enough traction throughout the entire range, since the machine with tightly “chopped” gears does not interrupt its flow.

It is gratifying that consumption is also lower - Kia eats less on average per liter. And how stable it is on the track! A frame is a frame, but the merit of a fully independent suspension cannot be denied. Side wind, light asphalt track - all for nothing. It is even surprising that the cruise control on such a road car is inactive.

The first turn makes you remember that Mohave is big and heavy. Not the sharpest reactions to the steering wheel, smeared "zero" ... The winding road is not one of his favorite habitats, but compared to the Pajero, this is practically a passenger car!

Any frame with dependent suspension is subject to the effect of a double chassis - when body roll relative to the frame is added to the work of springs and shock absorbers. Of all these cars that I have ever driven, only did not suffer from this. But he is a product of the Stuttgart school of witchcraft and wizardry, and Pajero Sport is a simpler guy.

According to the chassis, this is the same pickup truck, only with springs in the rear suspension instead of springs. Therefore, even on a straight line, Mitsubishi requires a firm steering hand. And in the corners it needs to be constantly adjusted. Soft off road tires Bridgestone Dueler only increase the dynamic corridor and make even more discord in the already “approximate” handling.

wild horse racing

Asphalt was replaced by a medium scall primer. This is where the honest hard worker Pajero should win back! He actively scans small things, transferring it to the body in all details. But the larger the pit, the stronger the confidence in the amazing energy intensity of the suspension. Even in the pits of half a wheel, you can’t wait for a breakdown. Mitsubishi is more likely to get off the ground. In which he, in fact, succeeded. I won’t say that Pajero resembles a prancing mustang on a transverse wave, but on a broken road you need to regularly catch a car. And it's tiring.

Kia's suspension margin is less, but it's almost impossible to catch the difference. But on the primer, he is much friendlier to riders: he practically ignores a trifle, and works out more serious flaws no worse than his opponent. It remains stable and does not require permanent job steering wheel.

Gradually, the primer turns into off-road, and Pajero proudly spreads its wings. Here he is the owner! For the time being, he does not need either downshifting or blocking. But when thick slippery clay went under the wheels, I still used the lower row and the off-road mode (“dirt”). The rear differential lock did not come in handy: Pajero Sport confidently rushes through the field, which is usually driven only by tractors and rural Urals. Even when it turned sideways, the formidable off-road tires continued to "dig" and pulled the car in the right direction.

It was not scary to fall into a rut - there is enough clearance! Watching this show, Mohave respectfully got up. In addition to the changing clearance under the rear axle, its off-road arsenal has only a downshift.

He failed to overcome the entire route following Mitsubishi: on ordinary road tires There's nothing to do here. If Kia were on toothy Bridgestones, he would have gone further, but he has less all-terrain talents: the clearance is more modest, the bumpers hang lower. Yes, and the hydraulic clutch that controls the front axle can overheat with a long slip.

Destinations

Pajero Sport is a legendary name. And the new generation machine is the best of what Mitsubishi offers. With the advent of the diesel version, sluggish sales will go uphill. nice car! But on many points, he lost out to the elderly Kia.

Only on medium and hard off road Pajero out of competition. Does it make sense to buy an SUV for three million, if you go into impassable jungle once a year on a promise? It is better to take the simplest version with mechanics, saving half a million. Or even opt for an L200 pickup truck.

If you need a big universal car, then Mohave is your hero. He passes only on extreme off-road, pleasant on the track and spacious. Even the base Mohave has a powerful diesel, an automatic transmission and a decent level of equipment. What else do you need in life?

Driver's workplace

The Pajero seat has only a standard set of adjustments and is deployed relative to the longitudinal axis. driver's seat Kia - with adjustable lumbar support and better profiled. The Mohave steering wheel is electrically adjustable, and the Mitsubishi steering wheel is nicer to grip. The exterior mirrors of the Pajero are huge, the forward view is excellent, but there is little to see in the saloon mirror. Kia is in a similar situation. The capabilities of electronic assistants are about the same.

Governing bodies

Salon

At Pajero, the frame eats up a tangible part of the cabin, which is why the headroom is modest. Possibilities of the central tunnel are not used in the best way. Kia has more space. In addition, it has a wider range of options - only the adaptive cruise control that Mitsubishi flaunts is missing. Kia is friendlier to rear passengers, in addition, it has a third row. in pajero rear seats stand too high, there is less space. But the trunk of the Sport is more spacious, and its shape is correct. The shape of the Mohave trunk is suboptimal, and the volume is slightly less.

Driving performance

The Mitsubishi turbo diesel has good returns, but the two-ton SUV drives without enthusiasm. Against his background, Kia is a real sprinter. There are no questions about the automatic machines of both cars. Pajero's handling is far from ideal: reactions are slow, in corners and on a straight line, it regularly requires steering. Mohave is also not ideal, but it holds the trajectory better, and is stable on a straight line. The capabilities of the brake systems of rivals are close. Mitsubishi has an automatic braking system.

Dynamics

Controllability

Comfort

The Pajero engine is slightly louder, otherwise both cars are close in terms of sound insulation. Pajero's suspension cannot be punched on a bad road, however, small bumps are transmitted to the body in too much detail. Yes, and on large potholes, Mitsubishi actively “goats”. Energy intensity Mohave pendants slightly lower, but he does not annoy with buildup and jumps. Mitsubishi has a standard two-zone “climate”, as well as the ability to regulate the air flow for rear passengers. There is a heated steering wheel. Kia has added full climate control and ventilation of the front seats to all this. Both cars have heated rear seats.

Smooth running

Adaptation to Russia

The Kia has good clearance under the rear axle, but the angle of entry and clearance under the engine protection is much less than the Mitsubishi. In addition, only the engine has protection, while Mitsubishi has all transmission elements covered. Kia is traditionally strong in the branching of the dealer network and warranty conditions. However, the number of Mitsubishi dealers is also large. Both cars have a full spare wheel under the trunk floor. The Kia's rear towing eye is poorly positioned: it's very easy to damage the bumper.

Behavior off the road

The possibilities of the Super Select transmission are wide. You can drive with all-wheel drive high speed, there is a rear differential lock, low gear, hill descent assistant and off-road mode that changes the sensitivity traction control and accelerator depending on driving conditions. Plus, the Pajero has very decent suspension travel. Against its background, Mohave looks pale: only a downshift and the ability to raise the body with the help of a rear air suspension. In addition, there is a high risk of overheating of the fluid coupling.

Technical nuances Kia designs Mohave

After miraculously transforming the Sorento into a crossover this spring, Kia has only one model left. off-road- Borrego/Mohave. To meet the needs of Russian off-road enthusiasts, it has already begun to be produced at a plant in Kaliningrad

This same “borrega” (more precisely, its latest version) has been used by an American layman for more than a year: the car was the off-road nail of Detroit-2008. And now it is the turn of the Russians. Mohave will be its own, assembled in its native country - the company in Kaliningrad has been working in this direction since October.

The car is comfortable, with air suspension, an adjustable pedal assembly and other options familiar to a resident of the States. At the same time, it was made on a frame, but there are no bridges with continuous beams at all - independent suspension in the front and in the back. Of the two schemes provided for Mohave - rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive - our readers, for obvious reasons, are interested in the second. We will deal with her.

  1. Bearing element - a frame to which the body is attached by means of eight vibration mounts
  2. Engine internal combustion(petrol V6 and V8 or diesel V6)
  3. Classic type automatic transmission: torque converter and planetary gear
  4. Front axle drive shaft
  5. Transfer case with reduction gear, made in the form of a planetary gear set
  6. Single-section rear axle drive shaft
  7. Exhaust system
  8. Fuel tank 82 l
  9. Rear axle with optional self-locking differential

We study the materiel

It would seem that what is unusual in a torque-on-demand transmission? The design has long been known, worked out, by ear. However, when discussing the principle of its work in relation to Mohave, the opinions of the editorial staff were divided - there was, so to speak, a debate. Some said that the clutch placed in transfer case, has two fixed positions - the discs are either open or fully compressed and do not slip relative to each other (that is, a hard lock). The second argued that the power take-off on front axle may not be discrete. To understand the issue, let's start from the stove, or rather, from the dispenser device supplied by Borg Warner.

The first element encountered "along the way" of the power flow is the planetary gear set, which performs the functions of a downshift. It is activated by means of a servo drive: the actuating element moves the fork, the fork “pulls” the gear carriage behind it. Behind the planetarium there is a multi-plate friction clutch operating in oil, and an electromagnet that controls this clutch. The driven clutch disks are connected by a cage to a gear that transmits power (through a toothed chain and another gear) to the driveshaft of the front axle drive. The driver manages all this economy through a toggle switch located on the center console.

There are no ambiguities with provisions 4L and 4H. The clutch is completely closed, while the drive gears of the main gears of the axles are, as it were, rigidly planted on one shaft. Moreover, if the adhesion of all wheels to the road and other conditions are the same, then cardan shafts loaded with the same torque. The difference is that at 4L, when the lowering is activated, this moment is higher. Here it is important for the driver to remember that due to the rigid connection when driving on good asphalt, significant overloads in the transmission and accelerated tire wear are possible. With differential coupling, such phenomena do not occur.

As for the clutch, Kia says it does indeed function smoothly, loading the front wheels as needed. Selection occurs not only if there is a difference in grip between the front and rear wheels and during acceleration (deceleration) of the car, but also in stationary modes. For example, at low speeds, the thrust on the front axle varies from 5 to 20%.

Other equipment

In the North American market, two engines are installed on the Borrego - V6 and V8. Both of them are gasoline, equipped with variable valve timing by correcting the angular positions of all camshafts. The diesel that Russians can count on is not represented in the USA, while in Russia there is no V8 engine (only this modification is equipped with airbags for the driver's knees). All three units work with hydromechanical automatic transmissions. Only the petrol V6 comes with a five-speed automatic transmission, while the other two come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both automatic transmissions have a manual gear selection program.

A self-locking rear axle differential is also provided, it’s a pity that the option is not available in the Russian Federation. Another interesting feature of Mohave is its high maneuverability: the turning circle is only 11 m.

Interestingly, Kia managers see such popular cars in the Russian Federation as the Mitsubishi Pajero and Nissan Pathfinder as the main competitors of Mohave. We will see next year how a newcomer will show himself in such a serious company.

Korean analogue of Toyota Land cruiser Prado, and in fact "American" to the marrow, Kia Mohave is an absolutely niche product in the Russian market. And how can he not be niche if it is a huge seven-seater frame SUV with a diesel engine, the design of which is high time to change in favor of modern trends in the auto industry? The same Prado looks much better, not to mention a bunch of other competitors. And, nevertheless, in connection with the restyling of 2016, which reached the Russian Federation only in the spring of 2017, Mohave became definitely prettier, especially inside. Read all the details about it in our review!

Design

The restyled Mohave, which, as you might guess from the name, was originally developed for the North American market, seems as boring as its predecessor, and there is hardly anyone who will gasp with surprise and delight when they see it on the road. There is still nothing remarkable in the appearance of a large Kia Motors SUV - to this day it is a “workhorse” and nothing more. But the “horse” has updated bumpers, a radiator grille and 18-inch wheel rims, as well as LED running lights above the fog optics. And the color scheme of the model was replenished with blue and brown shades. Here, actually, and all innovations.

The new chrome grille is nothing special, as is the head optics around the edges. From the side, a car with American roots looks no more interesting than UAZ Patriot, but domestic car costs almost twice as much! Changing a picture alloy wheels did not have much effect on the situation. The "stern" of the updated Mohave is purely practical - with plain lanterns that extend onto the rear fenders and a huge trunk lid. Behind the tailgate is a truly chic amount of cargo space, which is good news. With two rows of seats folded down, this volume reaches 2.7 cubic meters, which, given the flat floor, allows you to easily organize full-fledged sleeping places. No wonder the car was designed for the USA! There was no electric drive at the tailgate (only a regular door closer is provided), and the opening is small for people whose height exceeds 180 cm.

Design

The basis of the restyled version of Mohave is the old frame structure: it has a double wishbone suspension in front, and a multi-link in the back. Offered for an extra charge rear air suspension(and a self-locking limited-slip rear differential), but it should be borne in mind that on severe off-road it will be of little use, since the design of the SUV differs in crossover habits, and the clearance of the crossover model is only 195 mm, although the manufacturer claims that under bottom as much as 217 mm. For serious cross-country driving, the ground clearance is frankly modest.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

Mohave 2017 model year- definitely an option for the city and light off-road, and not for extreme Russian conditions, even despite the presence of a frame and all-wheel drive. For operation in Russia, it is not ideally prepared, but not bad either: it has an 82-liter fuel tank with steel protection and a jack hidden in an organizer under the floor cargo compartment, as well as a full-size spare wheel, an Era-Glonass emergency call button in case of an accident, a stabilization system, an assistant when starting uphill and separate climate control. For winter, heating of exterior mirrors, front and rear seats, steering wheel and windshield in the rest area of the “wipers” is provided. In addition, there is an electric interior heater.

Comfort

The interior of the Mohave is American-style spacious, you can’t say anything about it. It can be seen that it is designed for a large and friendly family that takes a lot of things with them on the road and does not forget about paper cups with coffee from McDonald's - the local coasters seem to be specially created for them. Seven seats- a good family solution, but in which case it is better to place children on last row- adults will definitely not like it there, because the third row is not suitable for tall passengers, and it is not very easy for adults to climb onto it. Of the innovations in the interior, there is a leather multifunction steering wheel with a wooden insert and electric height / reach adjustment, more thoughtful dashboard with a classic layout and a large eight-inch touchscreen multimedia complex. The left spoke of the steering wheel, unfortunately, somewhat overlaps the control unit for the all-wheel drive transmission, suspension and system exchange rate stability- you have to press buttons and twist the “washer” by touch or take your eyes off the road for a moment to see what is where. The headlight washer button is not too well located.

The layout of the climate control unit (3 zones) is logical and understandable, the “climate” control is already available in the initial configuration. Automatic windows went only to the front doors, and the manufacturer decided to save on the rear. On the ceiling there are air ducts, a ceiling light, sun visors with a retractable section and an electric sunroof (the sunroof is in the top version). The front seats can not boast of a perfect fit, but you quickly get used to them. driving position- with adjustable lumbar support. For the first time, perforated quilted Nappa leather is used for the seating of the SUV - however, this is the privilege of the most expensive Premium option, as is the armrest with a refrigerated drink box.

The Mohave comes standard with front and side airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), stability control (ESC) and hill-climb assist (HAC), cruise control, park assist and a rain sensor. Monitoring is now available for an additional fee dead zones(BSD) and 4 all-round video cameras (AVM), showing the situation in front and behind in various variations. There are no more security innovations.

The Mohave infotainment system and speakers have been updated. From now on, JBL speakers and a media system with an eight-inch color touchscreen, navigation, steering wheel controls, Bluetooth and AUX / USB connectors are installed on the car. mobile devices, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The processor of the new "multimedia" 2-core, 1 GHz, RAM - 1 GB, OS - Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The sound of the system is excellent, the graphics are decent, but the responses to finger presses are not very fast, and the navigator, which is capable of showing houses in 3D, sometimes gets confused in the readings.

Kia Mojave Specifications

Under the hood is a good old three-liter EN590 diesel engine with a return of 250 hp. at 3800 rpm. In South Korea, he gives out 14 "horses" more, but in Russia this option is simply not profitable by the grace of transport tax. Paired with it is the latest automatic transmission with 8 steps - with it Mohave accelerates to 100 km / h in just 8.7 seconds, which is an excellent indicator for a huge SUV. The maximum speed is 190 km/h. According to the manufacturer, the consumption of "heavy fuel" averages 9.3 l / 100 km, in the city - 12.4 l / 100 km, and on the highway - 7.6 l / 100 km. However, judging by the reviews of car owners, the real numbers may be different.

Rama is losing ground. The once famous "rogues" with a change of generations degenerate into banal SUVs. Jeep Cherokee, Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder have long left the ranks of honest SUVs. But Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and in the third generation remained true to itself - this is the L200 in the guise of a station wagon. A powerful frame, an impressive tire size, a solid rear axle and a Super Select transmission - what else do you need for complete happiness?

Diesel! And they didn’t offer it for a beginner. And now, a year after its debut on the Russian market, Pajero Sport has acquired the same 181-horsepower 4N15 turbodiesel, already familiar from.

Chrome-plated X-elements on the front bumper convey. But sadness is trouble with the stern. Because of the side windows rising to the sky, it turned out to be heavy, the taillights flowing down to the bumper only enhance the effect.

Places for small things - with a margin, and that's good. They drive a large SUV not only to work - it would be nice if the smartphone did not conflict with a glass of coffee because of the “living space”. So it turns out that Kia is a little more intelligent than Mitsubishi in everything.

For passengers, Mohave is a paradise. Spacious, the second row seats move back and forth, the backrest angle is adjustable. There is a separate climate control and seat heating. In the third row, the landing is far from ideal, but

Review of the Korean SUV Kia Mohave, reviewed specifications, complete set, it is told about the exterior and interior, luggage compartment, advantages and disadvantages obtained on the basis of feedback from the owners.

The first premiere of the SUV

Kia Motors - Korean car company, was established in June 1944, throughout the history of the company's existence, many different car brands, and the millionth car rolled off the assembly line of the South Korean enterprise back in 1988.

The company manufactures buses cars v various bodies, crossovers can also be distinguished as a separate class.

Kia Mohave is a very impressive SUV that was first shown at the Detroit Auto Show in 2008.

The project was designed by Peter Schreyer, the car was originally intended for the North American market.

In Russia, an SUV class car has been on sale since the fall of 2009, the model is produced at the Avtotor Kaliningrad plant.

In 2017, an update of the Korean brand is expected, and it is likely that the second generation Mojave will appear in the near future.

Kia Mojav in Russia

In America korean car known as the Borrego, the car was produced in LX, EX and Limited trim levels.

But in the US, the brand did not gain much popularity and sold poorly, so in 2011 the release of the North American SUV was discontinued.

The technical characteristics of the car produced for Russia remained the same as those of the North American model, only the number of modifications, engine and transmission options decreased.

Even the car in the Russian version has a more powerful generator, it is used accumulator battery increased capacity.

In the Russian Federation, the car is already delivered in a restyled version, with a diesel engine and automatic transmission, a 3.8-liter gasoline 6-cylinder engine was also announced at first, but did not go into the series.

But the all-terrain vehicle got a rear and high ground clearance, in addition, all cars are produced only in all-wheel drive.

Kia Mohave Russian assembly is a classic SUV with frame structure, named after the Californian desert where Kia tests take place.

The basis of the Mojave body is a platform, the car has many common elements with the Huyndai IX55 and Hyundai Veracruz.

The external features of the crossover are also classic - the shape is cubic, angular, the number of rows of seats is three (seven seats).

It has been on sale since 2018.

Kia Mohave equipment and prices

The Korean car on the Russian market is presented in two trim levels - Comfort and Premium.

Even in the basic Comfort version, the “charge” of the crossover is impressive, the car is equipped with:

The front seats are electrically adjustable and memorize the positions of the seats, the electric mirrors are folded, the price of the new Kia Mohave 2016 in the Premium package is from 2.65 million rubles.

Exterior and interior

There is nothing remarkable in the appearance of Mohave - the car even looks a bit boring, except for the impressive size of the chrome grille that attracts attention.

The headlights are large, standard trapezoidal, the lines are straight and simple, and yet, thanks to its considerable size, the SUV looks solid.

Cabin plastic of a Korean car - inexpensive, although not of the worst quality, there are wooden inserts, the steering column is adjustable in all positions (electric joystick).

There are a lot of niches for things in the cabin - there are pockets for plastic bottles and various little things in the door trim, there are two compartments in the front armrest, and two cup holders are located on the gearbox console.

The front seats are equipped with an electric drive, in the Premium package they have many different adjustments, it is comfortable to sit on them, and the only negative is the rather short “seats” themselves.

In the more expensive version, the option “electrically adjustable pedal assembly” is available, which is very useful for drivers of small stature.

The instrument cluster is quite deeply recessed into the panel, with white illumination (and red at the edges), very informative, in bright sunlight it does not glare.

But there is also an inconvenience - the location of the air conditioner cannot be called successful, in bright light it is almost impossible to see readings on its screen, and even at night it is difficult to see what temperature is set.

It is not easy for a tall driver to sit behind the wheel, even if the seat is fully pushed back, there is not too much space.

But the passengers of the second row feel quite comfortable in the car, and the three will not be cramped here.

The farthest "gallery" is more suitable for children, after all, adults will be uncomfortable there.

Trunk

The trunk volume of the Kia Mojav is small, it is equal to 350 liters, but this is only when all the seats are in place.

The rear two backrests fold extremely easily, and in this case luggage compartment increases to 1050 liters.

You can also fold the second row, in which case cargo compartment becomes very voluminous - 2765 liters.

Under the floor in the trunk for the tool there is a niche, the spare wheel is mounted outside, under the bottom of the car.

To open the tailgate from the outside, a handle is provided, it is located in the center, under the chrome trim.

On the right side there is a 12V socket, under it there is a backlight with a switch.

The door opens and closes manually, there is no electric drive here.

Kia Mohave specifications

The Korean off-road vehicle of the Russian assembly is completed diesel engine 3.0 l s direct injection fuel and turbocharging.

The number of cylinders is 6, their arrangement is V-shaped. ICE with a capacity of 250 liters. With. allows the car to accelerate to 190 km / h, to gain “weave” in nine seconds.

A diesel engine for such a volume consumes fuel very economically, diesel fuel consumption per 100 km on the highway is 7.6 liters.

In urban conditions, diesel fuel consumption increases to 12.4 liters, diesel is brought into line with Euro-5 standards.

Volume fuel tank- 82 liters, the engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, other transmission options are not provided.

Despite the fact that the Mojave is considered a full-fledged SUV, there are no continuous bridges here, both suspensions are multi-link, independent.

Disc brakes are installed all around, the front discs are ventilated.

Ground clearance of 217 mm and all-wheel drive allows the crossover to overcome shallow off-road, confidently drive on roads with any surface.

Permanent wheel drive - rear, front axle is connected using an electronic clutch.

The length of the car is almost 5 meters (4880 mm), the height of the crossover is 1.76 m, the width is 1.92 m.

With a wheelbase of 2.9 meters, the turning circle is 11 m, the curb weight of the SUV is 2.22 tons, the car is equipped with a power steering.

Sufficiently large dimensions make the SUV not very convenient for operation in the city, the car is more suitable for traveling long distances.

Kia Mohave reviews

In general, car owners like the Korean crossover, although it is not without flaws.

Positive reviews.

Big plus of the car - roomy interior, and if it accommodates no more than 4 passengers, then there is more than enough space for luggage.

Also among the advantages, car owners note:

  • powerful engine providing excellent dynamics;
  • efficient, soft brakes;
  • high reliability, serious breakdowns occur infrequently;
  • easy control;
  • relatively low consumption of diesel fuel;
  • good equipment, the car has many additional options.

Main Kia disadvantages Mojave:

  • rigid suspension;
  • weak paintwork;
  • not the most good quality assemblies;
  • somewhat outdated design.

The shock absorbers (especially the rear ones) are not designed for such a heavy car, because of this, the car rolls along the road, with rocking, and the suspension parts often have to be changed, as they cannot withstand the load.

The uneven road is felt in the cabin, especially the rear passengers notice.

The design of the SUV is somewhat archaic, the air conditioning and audio system also do not look modern, but this is not surprising, because the car has been produced since 2009.

The fans of this brand are looking forward to the new Kia Mohave in 2017.

It's time to update the model, release a car that meets all modern requirements.

Test drive and vehicle review.
