Is it worth buying a used Suzuki Grand Vitara? Which crossover is better: Suzuki Grand Vitara or Mitsubishi Outlander What is better than the Suzuki Grand Vitara

31.01.2017

Suzuki Grand Vitara 2 (SUZUKI Grand Vitara) - the most popular car in the Suzuki lineup. This model, according to many experts, is considered the best among crossovers in terms of price-quality ratio and off-road capabilities, plus, the car boasts a real Japanese assembly. Many owners consider this car to the category of non-killable, arguing this with unpretentiousness and endurance. But how things really stand with the reliability of a used Suzuki Grand Vitara and what you should pay attention to when choosing this car for secondary market, now let's try to find out.

A little history:

The debut of the first generation Suzuki Grant Vitara took place in 1997. Initially, this car was a rear-wheel drive frame SUV with rigidly connected front-wheel drive. The second generation of the car was introduced in 2005. Unlike the previous version, the new product has lost the standard frame structure body (the frame is integrated into the body), and four-wheel drive became permanent with the presence of reduction gears and center differential locks. In 2008, the car underwent restyling, as a result of which the following were changed: front bumper, radiator grille, front fenders and mirrors. But the main innovations affected the technical part - drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes, the transmission was modernized, and two new engines appeared. In 2010, the car underwent a slight modernization, as a result of which the trunk lid lost the spare wheel, thanks to which the Vitara became 200 mm shorter, and the diesel engine was upgraded to comply with Euro 5 level. This model was available for purchase in three and five-door body styles. In 2015, the production of this crossover was finally discontinued.

Problem areas and disadvantages of the Suzuki Grand Vitara

Body elements of the Suzuki Grand Vitara are fitted with high quality. Also, there are no significant comments on the quality of the paintwork and anti-corrosion coating, and if a used vehicle has a large amount of rust, then this is the first sign that the car was restored after an accident. Among the shortcomings of body elements, one can highlight only thin metal on the hood (even minor contact leaves dents) and sagging back door, this happens due to the impact of the heavy spare wheel that is installed on it. In order to fix the problem, you need to adjust the hinges.

Engines

Suzuki Grand Vitara, for a Japanese-made car, has a fairly wide range of power units: petrol - 1.6 (106 hp), 2.0 (140 hp), 2.4 (166 hp) 3.2 (233 hp). With.); diesel 1.9 (129 hp). Operating experience has shown that all engines are quite reliable, but some characteristic problems in them have nevertheless been identified. So, in particular, the 1.6-liter engine is afraid of overheating, and it also suffers from oil starvation. The engine is equipped with a timing chain drive; as a rule, up to 100-120 thousand km this unit does not cause any problems; in order to increase the life of the chain it is necessary to use quality oil Also, try to warm up the engine well in severe frosts. After 200,000 km, oil consumption increases, and if you like to “light up” the car, then the oil consumption may be unpleasantly surprising (up to 400 grams per 1000 km). In order to fix the problem, it is necessary to change the rings and valve stem seals.

Among the disadvantages of 2.0 and 2.4 liter engines, we can note the short service life of the rollers drive belt(40-50 thousand km). Also, on some copies the chain stretches quite early and its tensioner fails. A signal that there is a problem will be diesel rumble and metallic ringing when starting a cold engine. All four-cylinder engines are not equipped with hydraulic compensators, which is why it is necessary to adjust the clearances in the valve drive every 40,000 km. All engines are quite sensitive to fuel quality; when using low-quality fuel, the spark plugs are the first to suffer, fuel filter(comes complete with a fuel pump) and a catalyst. The car with the most powerful engine V6 3.2 liters has established itself as the most reliable, but has very high fuel consumption (in the city 20-22 liters per hundred).

The 1.9 diesel engine is a development of the French manufacturer Renault. This engine does not have outstanding characteristics and has a number of disadvantages. In our realities, most often, the short service life of the turbocharger, pump, and DPF filter causes complaints from owners. Also, the disadvantages include high consumption fuel (8-10 liters per hundred) and high maintenance costs.

Transmission

This model is equipped with two types of gearboxes – a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic. No matter how paradoxical it may sound, but automatic transmission much more reliable than mechanics. One of significant shortcomings mechanics is a deterioration in the performance of the box (fuzzy engagement of 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears). There can be several reasons for incorrect transmission operation - failure of the bearings or gear selection mechanism; also, the problem manifests itself when the clutch is partially worn. Despite this, the clutch lasts quite a long time - 100-120 thousand km. Automatic transmissions, as a rule, do not require intervention for 200-250 thousand km, but only under the condition of proper maintenance (oil change every 60,000 km) and operation. The disadvantages of automatic transmission include long delays when changing gears.

The all-wheel drive system is one of the advantages of the Suzuki Grand Vitara. There are center differential locks and a reduction gear. Disadvantages include the noisy operation of the gearbox. front axle(it starts to buzz at 60-80 thousand km, if you often go off-road, it can start buzzing after 30,000 thousand km). Often, changing the oil helps eliminate the hum. Once every 100-120 thousand km, the front gearbox oil seals need to be replaced; a little earlier, at 60-80 thousand km, the transfer case oil seal begins to leak; it is better not to delay replacing it, since a decrease in the oil level in the transfer case will, over time, lead to expensive repair of the unit.

Weak points of the Suzuki Grand Vitara suspension

Suzuki Grand Vitara is fully equipped independent suspension Despite this, the car is not a standard of comfort and handling. If we talk about the reliability of the chassis, then it is quite durable, even despite the short service life of some elements. Most often, bushings and stabilizer links require attention; on average, they last about 30,000 km, but they can begin to creak even after 10000 km. If, after replacing the bushings, there is still a knocking sound when driving on an uneven road, then it is necessary to install rubber spacers between the bracket and the bushing or replace the brackets. The front shock absorbers are quite weak and on most models they last no more than 80,000 km, and in harsh operating conditions their service life is halved. Camber arms, wheel bearings and ball joints can please owners with a mileage of 120,000 km.

The rear wheel bearing is less durable and lasts only 60-80 thousand km (changed together with the hub). Other elements rear suspension They last about 100,000 km, but many owners recommend regularly checking the wheel alignment and changing tires every 15,000 km. Steering does not cause any special comments, the only thing that owners have complaints about is the howling power steering pump, it is worth noting that with the onset of cold weather the hum intensifies (in some cases, replacing the power steering fluid helps eliminate the problem). Also, on cars of the first years of production, the power steering cooling system tubes are not famous for their reliability (fluid leaks appear at the connection points). Front brake pads On average, they take care of 30-40 thousand km, rear ones up to 60,000 km, discs - twice as long.

Salon

Despite the fact that the interior decoration of the second generation Suzuki Grand Vitara is made of simple materials, it is assembled with very high quality, thanks to which extraneous squeaks and knocks rarely bother the car’s owners. The main sources of squeaks are: the front seats, the trunk shelf, and the plastic lining of the pillars. Electrical equipment is quite reliable and, even after for long years operation, does not cause any trouble. The only thing that might bother you is the heater fan motor (the brushes and relays fail).

Result:

Suzuki Grand Vitara is enough reliable car with good off-road potential, and if used only original spare parts, then he will not often cause trouble. But, if you are looking for comfortable, family crossover with good cross-country ability, it is better to pay attention to another car, for example.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you encountered while using the car. Perhaps your review will help the readers of our site when choosing a car.

Best regards, editor AutoAvenue

Story trademark Vitara is quite interesting. For the first time a car with this name was presented in 1988, and Suzuki itself laid claim to the laurels of the founder of a new class compact SUVs SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). And if it is difficult to challenge the primacy of the abbreviation, then from a technical point of view the Japanese are 11 years late - since 1977 domestic VAZ already produced Niva and exported it. The design of the Vitara itself, with a separate frame and plug-in front-wheel drive without a center differential, was closer to classic SUVs. The result was at the same time not very good crossover and a fairly mediocre SUV. It was this “ancestral curse” that ruined the model a quarter of a century later, despite the fact that, under pressure from competitors, the frame turned into a monocoque body, and the front end began to be connected through a constantly working center differential. Yes, and the presence of a lower row in transfer case it looked quite advantageous against the background of its main competitors - Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Mitsubishi Outlander.

Who's like the old one?

The new Grand Vitara, following them, also became more modern, more comfortable and more environmentally friendly, but at the same time it moved further and further away from the Vitara that lovers of off-road adventures liked almost 20 years ago. Unable to compete on equal terms with the giants of this class, Suzuki additionally attracted a noticeably lower price, and now the third generation Suzuki Grand Vitara (2005–2014) is a very interesting choice on the used car market in this segment: 5-7 year old copies were recently sold in the range of 400–900 thousand rubles. depending on the owners’ appetites and the condition of the car.

The car was known on other continents as the XL7, Suzuki Grand Nomade or Grand Escudo (the short versions with three doors did not have the Grand prefix in many countries) and was produced since 2005. Despite the common chassis with some models of the General Motors concern, technically there was little in common with its “relatives”. The only “close” relative was the Suzuki XL7 (since 2007). And examples of the Iranian assembly are very rare in our country. In 2006, 175 thousand cars were sold worldwide.

Interior of Suzuki Grand Vitara

The range of power units was quite wide. Until 2008, the base for long versions was a 2-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine JB420, developing 140 hp. For the American market, the petrol H27A (V6 2.7 l, 185 hp) was also offered, but at Russian roads it remains a great rarity.

On our own Suzuki diesel engines did not produce, so the Japanese borrowed a 1.9-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel (129 hp) from Renault. It was also installed on short versions before 2008 diesel engine M16 (1.6 l, 106 hp). Both modifications were not officially supplied to us and finding them on the secondary market is quite problematic, and it’s not worth it - it has long been known that modern diesel engines only save money for the first owner.

In the brand's anniversary year of 2008 (20 years since the start of production), the Grand Vitara underwent its first restyling, including new engines, now with variable valve timing - the in-line four JB424 (2.4 liters 168 hp and 225 Nm) and completely new V6 3.2 (221 hp and 284 Nm). French suppliers made minor modifications to the old 1.9 liter turbodiesel (it was registered under the hood of many brands, for example Volvo S40, Mitsubishi Carisma).

Advertising booklets at auto shows and dealer showrooms bravuraly promoted the updates: “The 3-door modification has become available with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission transmission The updated version introduced a system for holding the car on ascents and descents (for gasoline engine volume of 3.2 l), sound insulation has been improved, the design of the radiator grille and bumper has changed, new body paint colors have appeared, the overall length and the length of the front overhang of the car have increased by 30 mm, side mirrors equipped with built-in turn signal signals, additional airbags have become mandatory for all modifications.”

It was this set that became an important factor that contributed to some restoration of the popularity of Grand Vitara sales - after all, it was the only model in the SUV segment with monocoque body and a lower row in the transfer case. Subsequent modernizations in 2011 and 2012 affected stylistic decisions, but the technology did not change anymore.

Selector for selecting all-wheel drive transmission modes Suzuki Grand Vitara

Sick nature

But the transmission also has its own weak sides. Due to the fact that the Grand Vitara has an “honest” drive to all wheels, components and assemblies (gearboxes, transfer case, cardan shaft) are more heavily loaded compared to passenger cars and require more frequent maintenance. Most vulnerable spot in the transmission there is a front gearbox, which may require a rebuild at 60–70 thousand km. Due to the low location of the ventilation breather, moisture may enter the gearbox, which leads to premature wear the entire node. Restoration will cost from 60 thousand rubles. Therefore, overcoming even small puddles, not to mention deep fords, can cause damage.

Since the manufacturer has done nothing to solve this problem, it is advisable to install the breather on an extension tube under the hood, which will allow the gearbox to operate under normal conditions up to the 200–250 thousand km intended by the designers. Rear gearbox such design mistakes do not annoy you, it is enough to monitor the integrity of the seals and the level transmission oil. After a run of 50–60 thousand km, regular inspections of the transfer case and gearbox seals will be required for leaks or fogging. Replacing worn seals will cost at least 14 thousand rubles. due to the large volume of work required to dismantle the units.

Mechanical gearboxes and transfer cases are quite reliable and do not cause problems with regular oil changes (at intervals of 60 thousand and 45 thousand km, respectively). Automatic gearboxes behave no less worthy, fortunately their Suzuki design for a longitudinal engine arrangement has long been worked out (the main drawback is that due to the antiquity of the design, the unit has only four stages), it is enough to monitor the condition of the seals and the oil level. The service life of these units reaches 200–250 thousand km, mandatory oil changes, following accumulated experience, should be done at least once every 100 thousand km, and with frequent off-road driving or towing heavy trailers (for example, with motorcycles, ATVs, jet skis etc.) and completely reduce the mileage between replacements to 60–80 thousand km.

The most popular power unit on the Grand Vitara is JB420 (2 liters, 140 hp). This engine is reliable and unpretentious, it can be used on 92-octane gasoline, but for a car weighing 1.6 tons it is power characteristics clearly insufficient. In order to keep up with city traffic, it has to be unscrewed (and already at the turn of 60–80 thousand km, oil consumption can reach 2–3 liters per 10 thousand km). If there is insufficient lubrication, the chain drive of the gas distribution mechanism will be the first to suffer, which entails replacing not only the chain itself, but also the sprockets with the tensioner assembly - otherwise the service life of the new chain will be extremely short. Under normal conditions, it steadily takes care of 150–160 thousand km, and the engine itself before the first replacement of rings is 250–300 thousand km.

During active city driving, fuel consumption can easily reach 15–16 l/100 km, although on the highway you can reach 11–13 l. The JB424 engine (2.4 l, 168 hp) is generally similar to its younger brother. The main brand of gasoline is AI-92, but in the summer, for long trips along the highways, AI-95 will not be out of place. Due to the low liter power and successful layout engine compartment engines are not prone to overheating - another plus for long-term off-road driving (but this does not cancel regular cleaning of radiators at a car wash). The older brother - JB424 - is distinguished by much higher fuel consumption in operation, which largely caused a drop in demand for such modifications among residents of megacities - in combination with an automatic transmission, its value could reach 20 l/100 km!

Another sore spot- catalytic converters. In the Grand Vitara they lose the required efficiency at the threshold of 60–80 thousand km. DIY repair will cost about 40 thousand rubles. When installing non-original replacements, the costs will be lower - the favorable location behind the exhaust manifold makes it easy to select a universal part that is suitable in size, even Volgov. The low service life of these expensive components is also noted on other models of this brand, and a loss of efficiency below the permissible level is detected much earlier than the insides of the catalyst begin to fall apart - this is a clear indication of excessive savings in precious metals in the assembly.

The suspension of the Suzuki Grand Vitara resists Russian realities with dignity and rarely requires serious repairs before 80–100 thousand km. The exception has traditionally been fastening parts front stabilizer to the suspension arms and body, which, with frequent off-road driving, are worn out every 20–25 thousand km, even if they are replaced only with original ones. The service life of wheel bearings greatly depends on operating conditions, smooth roads and 150 thousand km is far from the limit, and with frequent use far from asphalt, the resource can be halved, and the components will require replacement after 70–80 thousand km. The bearing is replaced as an assembly with the hub, the cost of the original unit ranges from 7–9 thousand rubles. At the turn of 80-90 thousand km, the front levers, whose silent blocks, as a rule, become unusable, will also require revision. It also wouldn’t hurt to check the condition of the ball joints, which are made of a single piece with levers.

Tuning for the "rogue"

The main advantage of the Suzuki Grand Vitara is that the car is very good off-road for its class, which makes up for many of its shortcomings. For those who like to “go deeper,” the market has a lot of offers for off-road modifications. The simplest are kits that allow you to increase the vehicle's ground clearance by 3–4.5 cm (at a nominal 20 cm). This increase in ground clearance does not entail a critical change in wheel alignment angles, which has a positive effect on the mileage of tires and suspension parts. The cost of such modifications is 30–50 thousand rubles.

At all simple solutions, which consists in installing spacers above the springs, quickly kills the standard struts due to changes in the suspension travel and zero position. When frequently crossing water obstacles, the electric drive of the transmission mode selector in the transfer case (14 thousand rubles) falls into the risk group, and here the seals are not of very high quality.

In general, in the city, the car’s off-road capabilities are clearly excessive (although confidence on slippery surfaces is akin to all-wheel drive premium sedans), and for real off-road conditions they are insufficient.

When purchasing, it is wiser to give the main priority to copies sold online official dealers with a proven history Maintenance and with the remainder of the warranty - such cars have no problems with “crooked” customs clearance, and the overall probability of running into a copy with a criminal past is not very high - due to the specific niche of fans, the car was of little interest to car thieves, although some surge in thefts can be expected for the purpose dismantling cars for spare parts.

The Last Samurai: choosing a used Suzuki Grand Vitara

The popularity of the Suzuki Grand Vitara is so great that for many years it was produced around the world and under different names.

Success and international recognition objectively deserved - the universality of the model in its totality of qualities has no equal.

ATTENTION! A completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption has been found! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also didn’t believe it until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

For a long time, the compact SUV remained the best-selling, and on the Russian market the car took its rightful place, and on a par with its right-hand drive twin brother Suzuki Escudo.

Those who have traveled know and will understand

The Grand Vitara is interesting and unique in that it is the most off-road in its class. Because there is permanent all-wheel drive, a ladder-type frame is built into the body, there is a center differential between the front and rear of the transfer case, there is a differential locking system and a reduced speed, which gives improved off-road qualities. The interior of the model is not particularly outstanding, solid, laconic, simple, not attracting attention, but not old-fashioned.

In the constant all-wheel drive of the Japanese on the highway, even in bad weather conditions - ice, rain, winter road, there is a feeling of complete safety and reliability. If you happen to get into more serious off-road conditions, a differential lock and a lower gear will come to the rescue.

Of course, we must remember that this is not a classic all-terrain vehicle, but an urban crossover and its suspension is low, the ground clearance is only 200 mm, but the car honestly works on it and passes where most of its classmates would get stuck.

Add to this reliability, does not break, unsurpassed quality and indestructibility along with an excellent price tag, you get the most honest car in terms of hardware, cross-country ability and functionality.

A little history

In fact, 1988 can be considered the starting point of creation, when the first Suzuki Escudo was released. But it officially rolled off the assembly line under the name Grand Vitara in 1997. In Japan it is called Suzuki Escudo, in the USA - Chevrolet Tracker. In Russia, sales began along with everyone else and ended with the end of production in 2014. Replaced by Suzuki Vitara until 2016.

Debut new generation is planned for 2020 - 2021, says the top manager of the Russian representative office of the brand, Takayuki Hasegawa, due to the continuing demand from the department’s clients and dealers, who confirm that there is not enough such a car in Russia. Most likely, it will be built on its own original base, and not inherited from the Vitara cart.

1st generation (09.1997-08.2005)

There are three on sale (version available with open top) and a five-door frame crossover with rear wheel drive and the Part Time 4FWD system, the essence of which is the ability to rigidly connect/disconnect the front axle by the driver manually at a speed of no more than 100 km/h, and engage a downshift only when stopping completely.

In 2001 the lineup replenished with an extended modification (32 cm larger wheelbase) XL-7 (Grand Escudo) with a three-row cabin for seven people. The giant is completed power unit V6 with a volume of 2.7 liters, developing up to 185 hp.

The first Grand Vitara was equipped with 1.6 and 2.0 petrol in-line fours producing 94 and 140 hp. and V-shaped six-cylinder engines producing up to 158 hp. A 2-liter diesel engine, developing up to 109 horsepower, was exported to some countries. A five-speed manual or four-zone automatic transmission is paired with an internal combustion engine.

2nd generation (09.2005-07.2016)

This is the most popular generation, it was produced for 10 years without radical changes, and a huge army of car owners became the happy owners of it. What’s great is that all cars for domestic consumers were assembled in Japan.

The second Grand Vitara received a frame integrated into the body and permanent all-wheel drive with a differential lock and reduced speed. In Japan, the new product is produced in four design solutions- Helly Hanson (especially for fans active species recreation), Salomon (chrome body trim), Supersound Edition (for music lovers) and FieldTrek (luxury equipment).

In 2008, the manufacturer carried out the first minor modernization - the front bumper was changed, the front fenders became new and the wheel arches were highlighted, radiator screen, sound insulation has been enhanced, and a display has appeared in the center of the instrument panel. The restyled version has two new engines - a 2.4 liter 169 hp and the most powerful 3.2 liter 233 hp. The latter was not officially supplied to Russia, just like the diesel 1.9 liter Renault, which was exported to other markets. The transmission for all cars is a five-speed manual or a four-speed electronically controlled automatic with two modes - normal and sport.

The short three-door four-seater little one has only a 1.6 liter engine with 106 hp, its wheelbase is 2.2 meters, a small trunk and rear seats, which are folded separately. In the five-door configuration, five passengers are quite comfortable, and the two-liter engine with 140 hp. enough for full daily driving in the city. For transportation of oversized luggage back row is laid out in parts, and the volume cargo compartment increases from 275 to 605 liters.

The second change to the Grand Vitara in 2011 affected cars for the foreign market. Spare wheel dismantled from the door of the cargo compartment, thus reducing the length of the car by 20 cm. The environmental level of the diesel engine was brought to comply with Euro 5. All basic configurations received an electronic drive in the transfer case for enabling/disabling the reduced speed and a self-locking differential. The force lock button is located on the center console.

An additional option is available - a driver assistance system when driving downhill. It maintains a speed of 5 or 10 km/h according to the transmission mode. And also when starting uphill and the ESP skid prevention system. The three-door car did not receive an improved transmission, so cross-country ability does not possess.

More advantages

Among the advantages of the Suzuki Grand Vitara, in addition to the main thing - the transmission, along with cost, dynamism and reliability, good handling, one can note high level safety with the highest scores in crash tests.

An important advantage in the exterior is spacious salon, both for the legs, above the head and to the sides, which most in the class do not have. Excellent visibility. The plastic, although hard, is of high quality, with plenty of space for every little thing.

...And the cons

There are disadvantages, like everyone else. One of the important ones is high fuel consumption, as a price to pay for all-wheel drive. In the city 2.0 liter with manual transmission eats up to 15 liters per 100 km. What can we say about more powerful ones and with an automatic machine. It’s a rare case that on the highway it’s possible to achieve 10 l/100 km. Most car owners note a low level of aerodynamics. The car is noisy and rough. The trunk volume is not small, but the shape is not convenient - high and narrow.

Is it worth buying, if so, with which engine?

After weighing all the pros and cons, most likely yes. Because there are few good, reliable, durable cars now. Manufacturers have not been interested in playing the long game for a long time. They need units, parts, mechanisms, and machines to be replaced more often with new ones. Suzuki Grand Vitara is not like that. There are many timeless classics here that will serve well for decades.

No turbocharged internal combustion engines, no robots, no CVTs - beautifully smooth and imperceptibly working hydromechanics with a long service life. The most important thing when buying commercial vehicle- do not end up with expensive repairs or frequent replacement expensive items. If you choose this Japanese one, the price will be more than adequate.

Objectively, for a 5-door car, two liters and with passengers on a trip out of town and beyond will not be enough. Around the city, from work, home, to the shops - enough. Therefore, 2.4 liters with a power of 166 hp. - just right, and the 233 horses that the 3.2 liter produces is too much. For such power the car is light, it becomes dangerous, maneuverability is lost.

In general, the car is a real Japanese prude, which has everything you need to feel calm and safe on the road, to know and be confident, and not to guess, whether it will work or not on the off-road section. When creating the Grand Vitara, Suzuki did not waste time on creating a super-fashionable design, placing emphasis on the main thing.

Children's diseases Suzuki Grand Vitara (2005–2008, restyling 2008-2012, restyling 2012-2014).

For our market, the Suzuki Grand Vitara was assembled exclusively in Japan. The fit of parts and materials is good. Vitara is a kind of mixture between a “SUV” and a “Jeep”. The frame is integrated into the body. Ground clearance– 200mm. Permanent all-wheel drive with low gear and a central differential lock. With proper use of this potential, the car can compete with full-fledged SUVs. By adding “reliability” here, low cost, good equipment- we get one of best offers on the secondary market.

Engines: 1.6 l 3D (106 Horse power, acceleration to 100 km/h in 14 seconds, mixed fuel consumption - 8.4 liters per 100 km), 2.0 l (140 hp, up to 100 km/h - 12.5 sec, average consumption fuel – 8.5 liters per hundred), 2.4 l (169 hp, up to the first hundred in 11.7 s, city/highway consumption – 9.2 liters per 100 km), 2.7 l (185 “horses”, up to 100 km per hour – 9.7 seconds, mixed consumption - 10.3 liters per hundred kilometers).

There are 3 gearboxes to choose from: 4 and 5-speed automatic or 5-speed manual.

IN basic configuration: ABS, 4 el. power windows, heated front seats, four airbags, climate control, el. heated mirrors, central locking, on-board computer.

IN maximum configuration: system directional stability, six airbags, keyless entry, cruise control, leather interior, xenon headlights with auto-corrector, navigation system, AUX, downhill and uphill assistance system.

Weaknesses of the Suzuki Grand Vitara or what to look for when buying?

Sores Solutions

Transmission

weak front gearbox - humming noise when coasting and under load, increasing over time if there is an emulsion in the oil, lengthen the “breather” and check the right-hand drive oil seal for leaks, it is advisable to change the oil every 10,000 km, if that doesn’t help, order a reconditioned gearbox in Novosibirsk, sending the “buzzing” one through the recycling program, periodically check the oil level
frequent leakage of transmission seals (“squeezes out” in cold weather) after a long stay - warm up at low speed
First gear is difficult to engage - manual transmission a feature of the box, you can try to “cure” it by replacing the rocker or clutch (the diaphragm spring of the pressure plate is stretched)

Engine

Suspension

weak silent blocks of the front levers install polyurethane or from Honda CR-V
rear camber adjustment bolts become sour lubricate immediately, if soured - change along with the silent blocks of the levers
steering rack leak replacing oil seals (you can choose an analogue - for example from Nissan)
Door stops do not “hold” restoring “old” ones or buying new ones
Fuel tank cap doesn't close properly grind off the lid locking pin
front seats creaking stretch and lubricate (airbag bracket tongue) seat
front armrest creaking lubricate with silicone and glue with double-sided tape or “carpet”
water under the front passenger mat (2.4 engine) seal the connection between the drain tube and the “drain” hole in the passenger compartment
