    1. Preparation for installation of the crankshaft of the A-41 engine

    1.1. Unpack the shaft: remove the grease, remove the plugs (oil pockets), get rid of the remains of conservation, rinse the shaft (preferably under pressure), dry by blowing compressed air, install plugs. The protrusion of the plugs above the surface of the crankshaft is not allowed.

    Important! In the event that after re-preservation you find a discrepancy in the size of the shaft necks, the location of the oil channels, or the absence of oil channels, corrosion on the necks and similar defects, then it is strictly forbidden to install the crankshaft on the engine !!!

    1.2. From the rear side, an oil deflector is pressed onto the shaft flange. The concave side of the flange is turned towards the shoulder of the flange. Stop the oil deflector by pressing the metal of the oil deflector into the recesses (four recesses) on the shaft. Clearance between the ends of the oil deflector and the thrust end crankshaft up to 1mm.

    2. Requirements for contacting parts

    2.1. In order to increase the service life and prevent premature failure of the crankshaft. It is also necessary to make sure that the mating parts in the assembly are suitable for unfounded claims. Parts rejected according to the technical specifications of the State Scientific and Technical Institute for the defectiveness of parts of the A-41 engine are not subject to installation.

    2.2. The connecting rod and main bearing shells must match the dimensions of the crankshaft journals (see tables 1 and 2).

    2.3. The choice of the diameter of the half rings is based on the diameter of the 5th main neck.

    2.4. Static imbalance of the crankshaft pulley is not more than 75 g cm.

    2.5. Static imbalance of the flywheel assembly with oiler and screws is not more than 50 g cm.

    2.6. The caps of the main bearings of the engine crankshaft must clearly fit into seats block. The original position of the main bearing caps must not be allowed to change.

    2.7. Mismatch between the ends of the cover of the 5th main bearing relative to the ends of the engine crankcase support is not allowed. The gap between the ends of the cover of the 1st main bearing and support with inside up to 0.5mm.

    2.8. The mass deviation of connecting rods on one engine does not exceed 17 grams.

    2.9. Changing the position of the paired bottom caps of the connecting rods is not allowed.

    2.10. The mass deviation of the pistons of one engine does not exceed 20 grams.

    2.11. The deviation of the mass of the piston pins, one engine, does not exceed 10 grams.

    3. Requirements for the assembly of the A-41 engine

    3.1. Clean the parts selected for engine assembly from conservation, dust, dirt, water and other undesirable coatings.

    3.2. The rubbing surfaces of parts such as: main and connecting rod journals of the crankshaft, liners and thrust half rings, during installation, wipe with a rag and grease diesel oil, and apply a layer of grease on the working surfaces of RTI (rubber of technical products).

    3.3. It is necessary to align the oil holes in the liners with the oil guide channels of the engine. Also, combine the locks of the liners with the grooves of the beds in the block.

    3.4. The bearing fastening bolts are tightened starting from the third main bearing, while the tightening torque is 402-431 N m (41-44 kgf m p).

    3.5. After tightening the bolts of the main bearings of the crankshaft of the A-41 engine, the turning force in the bearings should not exceed 49 N m (5 kgf m). The play (longitudinal) of the crankshaft in the half-rings of the thrust bearing does not exceed 0.093-0.380 mm. In main bearings, the clearance does not exceed 0.116-0.180 mm.

    3.6. The connecting rod bolts are tightened, starting with a long bolt, with a torque of 216-235 N m (22-24 kgf m).

    3.7. The constriction of the connecting rod along the neck of the crankshaft is free from the "hand". Backlash (longitudinal) of the lower head of the connecting rod fixed on the neck of the crankshaft in the range of 0.24-0.70 mm.

    3.8. After tightening connecting rod bearings the crankshaft must rotate with a force of no more than 186 N m (20 kgf m).

    4. Run-in and testing of the A-41 engine

    Attention! The engine must only be put into operation after a preliminary run-in.

    4.1. Running in is necessary for running in all rubbing surfaces.

    4.2. The running-in of the A-41 engine is divided into stages:

    • 1st stage - running in at low speed for 1.5-2 hours;
    • Stage 2 - running-in at nominal speed on a running tractor for 60 hours.

    4.3. The run-in is carried out in accordance with the factory's current technical documentation for the A-41 engine.

    4.4. The break-in process is accompanied by listening to the engine, visual observation of the engine operation, and, if necessary, eliminating the detected malfunctions. After the break-in is completed, maintenance and oil change in the engine are carried out.
