Information about the car Skoda Octavia A5
(photos, modifications, engines, gearboxes, main problems, prices)

general information

Second generation generation Skoda Octavia received the designation A5 (based on its platform) and replaced the previous model Skoda Octavia a4. A new version was introduced in March 2004. The car is built on the A5 platform (internal designation PQ35), which it shares with the second generation Audi A3, Volkswagen Golf fifth generation and other platform models. In addition to the new range of engines, the model received more spacious salon, in particular more legroom for rear passengers ( weakness previous generation). In addition, it has been increased ground clearance in the front and in the back.

The production of the model was established in many countries, including Russia - at the end of 2007, it was opened Skoda production Octavia in Kaluga. In India, the second generation Octavia was sold under the name Laura in order to distance itself into a higher market segment from the first generation model, which was also sold there until 2010, however, from 2010 to 2012, the price of Laura was reduced and she already focused on that part of the market where before that, the first generation was positioned.

There were also two all-wheel drive versions in the Octavia a5 lineup: 4x4 and Scout. Both versions used four-wheel drive with a Haldex clutch. Both modifications had increased ground clearance: by 24 mm for the 4x4 version and by 40 mm for the Scout. The Scout itself was introduced in 2006 and was only available as a station wagon. Outwardly, it differed from the usual Octavia in enlarged bumpers and plastic body kit giving it a more crossover look.

Skoda Octavia A5 was offered in two types of bodies: liftback and station wagon:
Liftback - Skoda Octavia A5 (model code: 1Z3), years of production: 2004 - 2013
Station wagon - Skoda Octavia Combi A5 (model code: 1Z5), years of production: 2005 - 2013

2. Complete sets and modifications of Skoda Octavia A5 restyling (11.2008-06.2013)

Restyled models were introduced at the end of 2008. The changes affected external design bumpers, hoods and optics. On the technical side, the list of proposed engines and transmissions has changed, and head multimedia devices have changed in the cabin, steering wheel and interior finishes. The restyling also for the first time for the model appeared robotic gearbox DSG7 (0AM).

Also, the restyled Octavia a5 retained the RS version for both body types (engine power remained at the same level, but a version with DSG for a gasoline engine appeared).

Station wagon kept versions from all-wheel drive, including the modification off-road- Scout.

3. Body Skoda Octavia A5 (LKP, corrosion centers, problem areas)

The body of the Skoda Octavia A5 is well galvanized and is not afraid of external aggressive factors. But this is only as long as there was no external intervention in the paintwork or body repair. No matter how well they try to repair the body, especially if one or more elements have been replaced, the zinc coating will no longer be uniform, which means that the appearance of corrosion centers at the repair sites is very likely.

Do not believe it, if they write somewhere that the paint from the thresholds or arches of the Skoda Octavia A5 peels off by itself from old age, this is very unlikely. The paint itself does not peel off the cars, most likely it just was body repair that was done inappropriately. But this applies only to very advanced cases:

Small chips are possible, since the zinc coating has and negative side: paint does not adhere as well to zinc as it does to primer applied to non-galvanized steel body parts. Thus, don't be surprised if the stones leave enough noticeable chips that you should touch up quickly enough so that the chips do not increase their area.

There are other purely Škodovskie features inherent in almost all models of the brand. For instance, rear bumpers they are very tightly attached to the body, and during the operation of the car, the bumper rubs against the body. This leads to the fact that the paint begins to rub off, and at the junction of the two parts corrosion centers appear (the so-called "bugs"). For those who have not yet manifested this sore, you can remove the bumper and apply a transparent vinyl film between the wing and the bumper - this will save the body from paint abrasion.

For everyone Skoda versions Octavia a5 has very good door seals that do not allow water to enter the car interior, even in cases where the body passes very deep puddles. But these seals, unfortunately, wipe the paint on the body very much, after which they are also taken for the zinc coating. It is necessary to avoid the appearance of sand and dirt in the areas of contact between the seals and the body. The bottom line is that paint abrasion occurs not only at the moments of opening and closing the doors, but also because the doors themselves walk somewhat in their openings, due to the fact that the body does not have sufficient torsional rigidity (typical for liftbacks up to emergence of the MQB platform).

Also, on the thresholds of the Skoda Octavia a5, a layer of anti-gravel is applied, on the border of which defects in the paintwork (microcracks) may appear, which ultimately leads to the appearance of quite noticeable peeling of the paint. In order to catch such defects at the initial stage and try to clean and paint over them, you should run your finger along this edge: if you don’t feel peeling and softness, then everything is fine, and if the edge of the anti-gravel coating began to move under the pressure of a finger, then in this place peeling of paint and anti-gravity has already begun.

Surprisingly, the paint on the hood of the Skoda Octavia a5 holds up very well, and even with active driving on the highway, there are not as many chips on the hood as it could be. What can not be said about the roof of the car, where the chips are formed quite easily and begin to expand quickly enough.

4. Body colors Skoda Octavia a5 (paint codes)

You can find out your paint code either by deciphering the VIN number, or by looking at the plate with option codes from service book(The same table is duplicated by a sticker in the trunk next to the spare wheel niche.

5. Interior Skoda Octavia A5

5.1 Skoda Octavia A5 trim options

Skoda Octavia A5 had various color combinations in the interior. Most often in Russia this is a black Anthracite interior, but in Europe and other countries it was possible to choose combinations of Anthracite with light gray and beige inserts.

Depending on the configuration, decorative inserts in the cabin also changed:

  • Black plastic (Classic and Active equipment);
  • Painted in silver metallic (complete set Ambiente and Ambition);
  • With an imitation of the structure of aluminum or wood (Elegance);
  • Black piano lacquer (Laurin&Klement).
On the pre-styling version, there was also a version of the "Dynamic" saloon with sports seats

Laurin & Klement was the richest version of the interior trim in terms of equipment, only she relied on decorative inserts in black piano lacquer. This version also featured leather seats and Alcantara/leather combination seats.

The RS versions also relied on an interior with full leather or combination trim, while the color performance of the seats could also vary. The seats on the Octavia RS have a more pronounced profile. Also on the RS versions was a three-spoke steering wheel with a sporty grip, trimmed with perforated leather.

5.2 Multimedia systems Skoda Octavia A5

Skoda Octavia A5 was equipped with various multimedia systems that differed in their functions. At the same time, pre-styling multimedia systems differed from those that were installed on restyled cars.

Head units Skoda Octavia A5 (dore styling) (02.2004-10.2008)

Skoda Melody
Equipped with a CD player, AM / FM radio, RDS system, coding system to a specific car, a 4 x 20 W audio amplifier and a mini-jack input for connecting a hands-free headset. It has the ability to connect a multifunction steering wheel and a MaxiDOT display.

Skoda Stream
It was equipped with a CD / MP3 player, AM / FM radio, an RDS system and a large monochrome dot display that allows you to display data on street temperature, show the time, and also duplicate information from the Climatronic climate system, parking sensors and a connected hands-free headset. The audio amplifier has the same power as the Melody: 4 x 20 watts. It has the ability to connect a multi-wheel, MaxiDOT display and CD changer.

Skoda Audience
Equipped with all the same functions as the Skoda Stream, but in addition to them, it also has a built-in 6-disc CD changer.

Skoda Cruise Navigation System
It has a large monochrome display that shows the direction of navigation using schematic arrows. The system also displays the number of kilometers to the destination and the remaining travel time. Navigation instructions, in addition to visual designations, are also accompanied by voice comments. For navigation, special navigation CDs are used, which require updating and change for different regions. The rest of the functionality is in line with what the Stream head unit offers.

Skoda Nexus navigation system
Has a color LCD display that displays detailed navigation along with a map of the area. The display shows detailed itinerary to the target, while the information is duplicated on the MaxiDOT display dashboard. It has a traffic alert feature.

Head units Skoda Octavia A5 (re styling) (11.2008-06.2013)

Skoda Blues
The same device that in the pre-styling version of the Octavia A5 was called the Skoda Melody. Equipped with a CD player, AM / FM radio, RDS system, coding system to a specific car, a 4 x 20 W audio amplifier and a mini-jack input for connecting a hands-free headset. It has the ability to connect a multifunction steering wheel and a MaxiDOT display.

Skoda Swing
The base 2-din model offers features such as FM/AM radio, CD/MP3 player, parking assistant visualization on a 302 x 45 pixel monochrome display, Bluetooth (on some models) and USB support, AUX (on some models). It does not allow connecting such functions as a rear view camera, displaying information on the screen, there is no possibility of navigation, viewing photos and videos.

Skoda Bolero
It has much more functionality than Swing. A 6.5-inch color touch screen with a resolution of 400x240 pixels allows you to connect a rear view camera. The screen also displays indicators from the climate system and other sides of comfort. It has support for multi-wheel, MaxiDOT display, SD cards. The player supports CD and MP3 formats, as well as incoming AUX and USB ports.

Skoda Amundsen/Amundsen+
This head unit had a 5-inch color touch screen with a resolution of 400x240, support for navigation software, CD, SD. Bluetooth was absent in this model, but it was possible to install it additionally. Navigation in this GU worked from the disk, and not all maps were supported. Also, this GU did not have a connector for a rear view camera, which made it impossible to install it.

Amundsen+ has the ability to load maps directly into the memory of the PG itself, eliminating the need to use a navigation CD for this purpose. Amundsen + also has a built-in bluetooth model and makes it possible to connect a rear view camera to the GU.

Skoda Columbus
The device was equipped with a large 6.5-inch touch screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels and LED backlight. Columbus also had features such as support for navigation, video playback, as well as internal memory, which allowed you to download maps and navigation updates directly into the head unit.

6. Technical features and hidden features Skoda Octavia A5

Skoda Octavia A5 is built on the PQ35 platform and has quite ample opportunities for coding and activating various functions internal equipment car. The list of functions that can be activated on the Skoda Octavia A5 can be found on a separate forum page dedicated to.

6.1 Suspension

Suspension Skoda Octavia A5 is fully independent: McPherson front and multi-link rear. The suspension of the Octavia A5 is quite unpretentious and reliable. But we must be prepared that every 60-80 thousand km it will be necessary to change the stabilizer struts 1K0 411 315 R. Less often, shock absorbers leak and springs break (although if the trunk is heavily loaded, then the rear springs and shock absorbers will require replacement at a run of about 50 thousand km).

6.2 Brakes

Front and rear brakes disk (front - ventilated), which differ in size depending on the engine model. The following front brake mechanisms were installed on the Skoda Octavia A5:

  • 1ZF- Teves FS III 280x22 mm for 15"" rims - (rims 1K0 615 301 AS, pads 1K0 698 151 F) - for basic modifications 1.4 MPI and 1.6 MPI

  • 1KP- CII38HR-A LUCAS 282x12 mm - (rims 5Q0 615 601G, pads 1K0 698 451 G) - RS version.
You can read about how to independently replace the rear brake discs and pads on the Skoda Octavia A5 in a separate one.

6.3 Transmission

Skoda Octavia A5 was equipped with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive transmission. The all-wheel drive transmission uses the Haldex Traction system, which includes a computer-controlled central clutch that is capable of automatically redistributing torque, transferring up to 85% of the force to the selected wheel.

On various modifications of the Skoda Octavia A5, the following versions of gearboxes were installed.

  • 5-speed manual transmission 0AF
  • 5-speed manual transmission 0A4
  • 6-speed manual transmission MQ250 02S
  • 6-speed manual transmission MQ350 02Q
  • 6-speed torque converter
  • 6-speed robotic (wet clutch)
  • 7-speed robotic (dry clutch)

7. Frequent problems and maintenance features of the Skoda Octavia A5:

Skoda Octavia A5 is reliable and has established itself as great option for a pragmatist who not only does not cause much trouble, but also performs a lot of various tasks in terms of versatility and ease of transportation of goods. Despite all this, the Octavia A5 also has a number of features that are worth remembering.

7.1 Stretching the timing chain and oil burner of 1.8 TSI engines

Diesel and aspirated engines have a timing belt drive, so do not neglect its replacement every 90 thousand km. (The factory recommends inspection every 60,000 km and replacement every 120,000 km). Turbo engines have a chain drive, which, according to the factory, is designed for the entire service life. But this is not at all the case, because not only are the chains on these motors stretched, but even before 2012 they could make a jump due to a design flaw in the timing tensioner.

7.4 Problems with the DSG robot

According to the manufacturer's information, the 7-speed preselective DSG robotic box is designed for 300 thousand kilometers, but the situation with it is difficult. In fact, this "robot" turned out to be the most trouble spot Octavia. The minimum that the owner may encounter is a clang coming from the box when driving at low speeds. Plus jerks and vibrations in the first two gears. Such phenomena do not affect the lifespan in any way. In contrast to the constant urban operation, if a significant part of it falls on traffic light traffic jams.

The mechanical part of the "seven-step" is unlikely to force you to contact the service. "Mechatronic" is able to require a replacement for 30-40 thousand km. Well, if it was done before the end of the warranty. What is even more interesting, the “preselective” itself appeared on Skoda only with restyling. But then a 6-speed automatic transmission was returned to the version with 1.8 TSI. And rightly so - the described problems are more typical for the most powerful modification.

7.5 Reliable enough, but not perpetual machine 09G

"Automatic" Aisin TF-61SN, it is also known as 09G by modern standards is not bad. Up to 100 thousand km, you only need to follow the internal left anther of the drive, which tends to break after winter season(3,000 rubles). The inner left CV joint can also fail and begin to create unpleasant vibrations during acceleration.

After 100,000 km of run, slipping and hitting "hot" may begin, while "on a cold unit" everything will work fine. All this promises the owner the replacement of the valve body. But then burnt friction clutches and the destruction of the "planetary" may follow. This does not happen for everyone, and some cars with automatic transmission 09G drive 250-300 thousand km without any problems.

Remember that the oil in the automatic transmission also changes every 60,000 km, as well as on the DSG.

8. Prices at the time of production and at secondary market

The price of Skoda Octavia 2009 "Ambient" at the time of production in Russia was in the range of 499-735 thousand rubles for a hatchback body and 535-755 thousand rubles for a station wagon (Combi). The price of Skoda Octavia 2009 "Elegance" ranged from 629 to 779 thousand rubles for a hatchback and from 669 to 819 thousand rubles for a station wagon.

Looking at such prices now, you start to "bite your elbows", and you think, that's what you had to buy then in order to drive now and still not know problems (of course, without DSG).

To date, the secondary market is filled with a mass of offers for the sale of Octavius A5, since there were a lot of them, and in Russia it has become one of the best bestsellers. Offers for more or less decent copies start at 300,000 rubles. But here you need to be very careful, since the Skoda Octavia is one of the favorite taxi cars (confirms reliability and versatility), especially the 1.6 MPI version with a manual transmission. It is clear that such machines will be squeezed out "to the last drop"

Therefore, it is better to look at offers at a price closer to 500,000 rubles, but even there you need to be on the alert, because how to buy Octavia now in good condition- a great success and an excellent investment of money.

by the most the best option there will be restyled cars of the last years of production 2012-2013, since they did not have completely empty configurations (dealers made discounts and stirred up interest in the outgoing model), and 1.4 TSI engines have already received an upgraded timing mechanism. Therefore, it is worth choosing either a 1.4 TSI manual transmission or a 1.6 MPI manual transmission / automatic transmission. Versions with 1.8 TSI, although powerful, suffer from oil consumption and will eventually require the replacement of the piston group.

You should also always remember the basic ones that will help you not make obvious mistakes when choosing a car.

My cars: Skoda Octavia A5 ambition 1.6 MPI (BSE) 102 hp Automatic transmission-6 09G and some other German garbage dumps =)

Russian buyers have long and firmly fallen in love with representatives of the golf class, especially if they are made in a sedan body. One of the favorites of the domestic car enthusiast was and remains the Skoda Octavia in the back of the A5, and after the restyling of the second generation of the model, the level of its consumer attractiveness has greatly increased.

The start of the second generation of the Skoda Octavia A5 took place in 2004, and the car that filled the showrooms of dealers was shown to the public today at the International Motor Show in Paris 2008.

By and large, no radical changes have taken place. Following the tradition of the "big brother" represented by the Volkswagen Group, Skoda designers slightly changed the shape of the front optics and bumper, and also slightly corrected rear lights. Nevertheless, despite the almost completely preserved concept of appearance, Octavia began to look fresh, fully fitting into the current model line Czech company.

With more than impressive dimensions (4569 x 1769 x 1462, wheelbase length 2578 mm), new Skoda Octavia A5, as expected, is able to provide a decent level of comfort to all the inhabitants of the cabin.

The driver will be pleased with the extensive range of seat and steering wheel adjustments (tilt and reach), as well as the new dashboard. Its changes consist in other dials, which, unfortunately, have become a little less informative, and more pleasing to the eye with white backlight, while before the eyesight was irritated by a caustic green glow.

All the necessary functions, whether it is the control of the audio system or the climate control system, are at hand for both the driver and the front passenger. Moreover, in order to master their work, one glance is enough, since the keys and displays are arranged in German clearly and thoughtfully.

The material prevailing in the interior of the Skoda Octavia FL is soft plastic, pleasant both to look at and to the touch. But when driving on pavement or poor quality roads, the interior trim allows for unpleasant squeaks. One of the reasons for this phenomenon is not the highest rigidity of the car body.

Undoubtedly, the main advantage Skoda Octavia A5 is the trunk. On the Russian market The car is offered in two body styles - liftback and station wagon (Combi). If everything is clear with the second, then the first is nothing more than a five-door hatchback.

Volume luggage compartment such a car is equal to 560 liters. The successful layout of the compartment, coupled with a huge opening for loading and the possibility of luggage directly to the glass, make the Octavia A5 one of the class leaders in this indicator.

If the initial volume of the trunk is not enough, then the folding seatbacks will increase it to cargo 1,350 liters. The station wagon has even more impressive indicators - the volume of the luggage compartment, depending on the position of the rear sofa, varies from 580 to 1,630 liters.

In terms of dynamics and controllability, the Skoda Octavia A5, albeit not by much, still loses a little to its competitors. The most popular and interesting motors are engines of 1.4 and 1.8 liters of the TSI family, but due to the availability, buyers still have a 1400 cc power unit.

In fact, this is the same engine that is installed on, but on the Octavia A5 it lacks a compressor, limiting itself to one turbine. However, the motor is very flexible, and paired with a 7-band preselective robotic box The DSG actively picks up speed in any gear.

In urban conditions, this is more than enough, all the more so since fuel consumption during not very active movement varies at the mark of 7.0 liters per 100 kilometers. But on high-speed highways, a 122-horsepower TSI may not be enough. On the high speeds acceleration is not so assertive, so when overtaking slow neighbors downstream, it is better to switch to downshift, since the traction reserve may simply not be enough.

The handling of the Skoda Octavia A5 is not the sharpest, but thanks to the good setting of the electric power steering, there is feedback on the steering wheel. Nevertheless, the rapid passage of turns is not the element of Skoda, since the car allows for noticeable, albeit not very large, body rolls.

But all this does not apply to the "hot" version of the Octavia RS. In our market, such an Octavia is offered exclusively in a liftback body and is equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI motor paired with the "robot" DSG. This car equipped with a sports-tuned suspension, which allows you to clearly and accurately take any turns.

The dynamics of the Skoda Octavia RS is especially impressive - it takes only 7.2 seconds after the start to exchange the first hundred, and maximum speed reaches 240 km/h. The engine produces 200 "horses", which is ideal for those who like to get the thrill of driving.

Today, Russian dealers offer customers four configurations of the Skoda Octavia A5. The most affordable option is a car with a 1400 cc atmospheric engine 80 hp and a manual transmission in the Active package.

They ask for 574,000 rubles for such a car, and its basic equipment includes ABS, audio training, lumbar support for the front seats, driver airbag, full-size spare wheel and immobilizer.

Hello everyone.

The review may be useful to those who are going to transfer from the A5 octavia to the A7 octavia. Since I owned the A7 for only one month, there is no information about reliability in this review. Here will be a comparison of my former A5 1.8tsi manual transmission vs A7 1.4tsi manual transmission in the elegans configuration.

So getting rid of the problematic Octavia A5 began looking for a replacement. Alas, I quickly discovered that with my requirements there was no choice. I wanted a station wagon / liftback with dynamics less than 10s to 100km / h on manual transmission. Gasoline/diesel doesn't matter. Of the new ones, in fact, only the octah was suitable. And I also considered the FF-3 2.0 station wagon automatic transmission. Since my brother drives like this and does not know any problems with him. Yes, there are many shortcomings, but it was cheaper than octah and there was a choice of trim levels and colors. But then a terrible thing happened, the euro began to grow literally before our eyes, in a couple of days the price tag for a Ford grew up to 120t.r ... Octavia was in a terrible deficit, I didn’t want to take those that were left. On the used market, the hype was also crazy, and then I realized that there was no time to choose, decent cars didn’t hang for more than a couple of days. I took an octahu 1.4tsi elegans without packages + wheels as a gift, 1 year used mileage 22300km. for 760t.r.

I really liked the motor, its response is much faster than that of the previous 1.8tsi. I would not say 1.8 is long, it is quite responsive, just 1.4 is better. In short, it has less turbo lag, I would even say that it does not exist at all, which makes it seem that it is even more powerful. Surprisingly 1.4 pulls better from the bottom. Although the characteristics should seem to be the same. The old motor felt that it takes time to spin up the turbine. That is, for example, you drive a truck at 70-80 km / h, when a window for overtaking appears, turn on the 3rd, gas to the floor and ... thoughts begin to rush through your head "well, where are these damn 250 n / m", the time delay is comparable to kickdown on the machine. At the same time, after accelerating, if you press the gas again for a few seconds, then this delay was no longer there. On 1.4 this is not the case, his response is always the same and very fast.

The sound from 1.4 is really not euphonious and it makes more noise. I understand turbo farts all buzz about the same, but 1.8 this buzz was more pleasant, some kind of reassuring baritone. If you drive slowly, even in acceleration mode, you can’t hear it. There were no vibrations from the motors; in the city, a running motor is not felt in any way.

Fuel consumption for xx 0.4-0.5l (1.8 took 07-0.8l) in the city in winter 7-7.5l for short trips (5-7km), which is about 2-2.5l less than it was by 1.8. And this is without loss in dynamics! Inferior to 1.4 only after 3500 rpm, and even then not much. Also, thanks to the motor, the stove began to work much better. Once recorded a confident heat on the 2nd! a minute away at -5c, the temperature arrow has not yet moved.

For some reason, they reduced the gas tank, although there is a sea of \u200b\u200bplace under the bottom. Was 55l became 50l. Not enough for the track. Easily got there and 60l tank.

For some reason, the music of the "bolero" plays worse, as I did not play with the settings, but .. only the understanding came that the music would have to be completed. The display was three color, became monochrome. Radio reception has deteriorated. Alas, disappointed and salon. Yes, it's bigger, but that's where its merits end. And the old size was enough for me. Materials have become simpler to the touch, and to the ear too. When driving on flat road he began to make more sounds. There was a feeling that the car is lower class. Certainly not a rattle. Only the armrests on the doors kozh.zamom sheathed, this is the only thing that I liked more in the A7. They also simplified the shelf in the trunk. Now you can’t hang a convenient hanging box on it. Removed the pockets on the seats and the center console. In general, the interior was strict and boring in the A5, but here it became even more boring. Previously, a colored emblem on the steering wheel, a three-color bolero, and a embossed dashboard, although they did not dilute the dullness of the interior a lot, but now this is gone. Previously, when the octahu was called a penso mobile, I did not agree, but in the case of the A7, I agree. I have nothing against the classic design, but it seems to me that the stick was overdone, I think such a design looked more appropriate on the Superb.

Mirrors have become smaller and visibility as a result is worse. It is not clear why there are no drains from windshield, what is not blown onto the roof, everything flies to the side windows. Treated with anti-rain. For some reason, the function of folding mirrors was removed from the key.

The climate and rain sensor began to work better. The airflow deflectors in the dashboard received wheels with which you can more smoothly adjust the strength of the air flow, and not just open / closed as it used to be.

There was a washer level sensor in versions with halogen headlights, it was not there before!

Became lower clearance. bottom shape, front bumper sticks out and hangs low. The further away from the wheel, the higher the bumper. Where I used to drive on the second one, now on the first one, quietly, quietly + before, it was easy to park in front of the curb.

The suspension has become much better overall. Less roll, while not so hard. The rumble of the wheels has become noticeably less, but I would not call a quiet car. But if the asphalt is smooth, then there is no difference. Behind is now a beam. There is a difference with a lot of leverage, but only on rough roads. If you drive in 1st gear over bumps with sharp edges (broken railroad tracks for example), the beam is stiffer and noisier. Also, in a turn with poorly rolled patches, if you drive close to the tire limit due to the A7 beam, the skid develops earlier. With a lot of leverage, it was possible to drive faster, it slid with all four wheels and more smoothly, in general it was more stable. Also close to emergency braking it was more confident in turning with a multi-link. But most people don’t drive like that, which means they can only notice the difference on a very rough road, and even then not all.

Steering liked the steering wheel even a little easier, and the feedback became better. Sensitivity has also improved in near zero positions of the steering wheel .. The steering is excellent. Previously, there was not enough feedback in turns, at a speed of 50-100 in the near-zero zone, the steering wheel was completely empty.

The clutch has become much more informative. Fun starts are easier to get. Pedal travel has decreased. The moves of the manual transmission lever have become easier, and the fixation at the moment the gear is engaged is higher. It looks like the box was filled with thinner oil.

The gaps on the body are smoother, but the doors close a little worse. But the trunk lid closes more smoothly. On the front of the body, restyling is crying. Dirty streams form from the corners of the headlights.

It became more difficult to remove the headlights. Like changing light bulbs. Now it will have to be done by car.

In general, this is all that I could notice for not a long tenure. Summing up - I didn’t like the car as a whole, although it seems to have become generally better. I just realized it's not my car. I am not ready to endure many shortcomings for such money. I posted an ad for 880 tr. A day later, she was stolen, well managed to insure. At first I could not believe that this happened to me, surprisingly when I realized I was not upset. Although he made quite a few efforts to find her and found out where she had gone, he could not return her. Having received the Casco payment and looking at the prices on the market, I decided not to buy anything, postponing the purchase until spring. As it turned out later, he did the right thing.

I do not rule out that I will take the A7 again sometime, but I will wait for restyling.

P.S. I apologize in advance if my opinion doesn't match yours.

Changing the engine oil of the Skoda Octavia A5 on a 1.4 engine is as simple as it is. Changing the oil and filter with your own hands is quite affordable, which is what many drivers do.

When to change, how much and what kind of oil to fill in Octavia A5 1.4

The maintenance schedule of the manual indicates the frequency of replacement every 15,000 km. At the same time, along with the oil, it changes and oil filter. V difficult conditions operation, it is reasonable to reduce this interval to 10,000 km.

According to the manual, for the 1.4 engine need 3.6 liters of new engine oil. For engines 1.6 and 2.0, this figure will be 4.5 and 4.6 liters, respectively. Diesel 1.9 will require 3.8 liters of oil.

How to change the oil and oil filter Octavia A5 1.4

First you need to warm up the oil in the engine so that it drains better. Then install the front of the car on a flyover, pit, lift, ramp or jack.

The oil will drain faster if you unscrew the filler cap and pull out the dipstick.

Hot oil can burn hands that are not protected by gloves.

When the oil stops dripping, screw the drain bolt back on. You should not be too zealous when tightening, a quarter of a turn is enough after the cork sits tightly.

Replacing the oil filter with an Octavia A5 1.4 is quite easy - access from under the hood, it is unscrewed with a 30 head. At the same time, a little oil can also run. Before installing a new filter, be sure to lubricate the sealing gum fresh oil. And twist should be no tighter than three-quarters of a turn after the elastic touches the seat.

Making sure that drain plug and the oil filter are screwed in, fresh oil can be poured into the engine. First, fill in 3 liters of oil, then tighten the filler cap and start the engine. Letting him work for 5 minutes and cool down for 10 minutes so that the oil runs into the sump, check the oil level on the dipstick. Then add enough oil to bring the level up to the upper mark.
