And then the results stubbornly crawled down, and now, at the end of its conveyor life, the 3008 is sold one and a half times worse than the bestseller of the Citroen C4 Picasso single-volume segment. Keeping the old concept of "under-crossover" in such conditions would be just stupid. And at the same time, the French transplanted 3008 to a new platform.

If the first generation car was based on the old PF2 “trolley” from the previous Peugeot 308, then the new 3008 is designed on the EMP2, Efficient modular platform 2, from the current “three hundred and eighth”. Oh, it’s not for nothing that this unit won the title of “International Engine of the Year 2015” in its category. I rode this "3008" with a six-speed "mechanics": a peppy start with the help of a "transparent" clutch, a fat shelf of momentum, a cheerful sound - and no vibrations at idle. The plump gear lever seems to find itself necessary transmissions, and as an alternative - a six-speed classic "automatic" Aisin. He is also assigned diesel versions, and the usual petrol turbo four 1.6 THP. In Europe, the latter produces 165 hp, but we will have "tax-friendly" one and a half hundred "horses". By the way, the engineers mentioned that the modern eight-speed Aisin will soon appear on Peugeot.

So far, not a single car is produced on the EMP2 platform with a rear multi-link suspension. So the new 3008 has a semi-dependent beam. And also pay attention to how neatly the bottom is made.

And for those who dream of all-wheel drive, the proprietary Grip Control washer has been retained, with which you can optimize the operation of the power unit and ESP, depending on the surface. And Grip Control really helps. I try to climb the snow-covered serpentine in the "asphalt" mode, but traction control too greedy with traction. I turn the puck into Snow mode, the system loosens its grip, allowing a strictly defined amount of wheel slippage, and the 3008 confidently moves upwards with the gas pedal recessed. What if you have to go down the mountain? There is a corresponding electronic assistant HDC (Hill Descent Control), and very curious. Since the minimum speed is limited by the gear ratio of the transmission, in Peugeot you can turn on “neutral” right on the descent, and then HDC will slow the car down to a completely snail's speed, which can be controlled by ... the gas pedal. A little pressure, the engine, not connected to the wheels, growled, the brakes loosened their grip - and the car rolled faster. The sensations are very unusual, but it is convenient to use.

Of course, without Russian production it will be very difficult for the new "3008" to compete with localized Toyota crossovers RAV4, Kia Sportage, Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail. In addition, this will have to be done without all-wheel drive, which is more in demand here than in Europe: last year it was chosen by almost half of the buyers of mid-size SUVs. But with such a catastrophic drop in Russian sales (last year, demand fell fourfold), the Peugeot brand is now clearly not in the mood for setting up local production - to maintain its presence in the market.

But in Europe, Peugeot is on the rise: last year, demand for the 308 increased by a third. Both the 208 hatchback and the 2008 SUV are in the black. I'm sure the 3008, whose sales will begin in the fall, will also become an excellent student.

Less than a year has passed since the presentation of the second Peugeot 3008 at the motor show in Paris, and this crossover has already managed to get the title of "Car of the Year" and become the sales leader in its homeland in the class of mid-size SUVs. You should not be surprised at the successes, because as a result of the change of generations, the model really took a step forward: if the predecessor had real problems with self-identification, and it looked more like a compact minivan than an SUV, then the novelty has no such problems - it is the most real crossover. Design

All have headlights like headlights, and the updated “three thousand and eighth” has eyes. Well, how else to designate what the language does not dare to call simple optics? It is enough to take a single look at the photo of the novelty and, in particular, at the head lighting equipment, to make sure that it looks really conceptual, thanks to the aforementioned Quartz. Not somehow, namely conceptually, since usually, due to the complexity of manufacturing, automakers equip production models simpler optics, leaving original design their show cars for history. Even the electronic joystick of the six-speed automatic transmission, unusual for Peugeot, reminiscent of BMW joysticks, does not spoil the picture. A slight dissonance here, perhaps, is brought only by the cruise control panel, which was inherited from the old PSA cars.


The front seats of the Peugeot 3008 2017 are the first time among PSA models that a really great massage is provided (option). It is completely different from what sister brands Citroen and DS offer and is no worse than expensive German-made executive sedans.
