The trunk in the Lifan X60 is larger than that of its classmates, but this does not affect the convenience of seating passengers in the rear.

Drive

The lack of all-wheel drive will cause some confusion among Russian motorists - the car is front-wheel drive. The manufacturer explains this by saying that all-wheel drive will lead to an increase in the price of the model. But if demand arises during sales, there will also be an all-wheel drive option.

As for the actual driving. Accelerating dynamics at the start it’s quite good, but the car is not conducive to an active drive. The response to steering movements is somewhat delayed and at first this is scary. The brakes work quite adequately. I was pleased with the suspension - it “swallows” small irregularities easily.

At the same time, nothing creaks or rattles in the cabin. But, as a price for comfort, the car tilts in sharp turns.

A sophisticated car enthusiast will immediately notice some similarities with Japanese car Toyota RAV-4, but is it so bad for the buyer? And the similarity is not so obvious. I was also pleased with the build quality - there are no gaps where fingers can fit through, although the plastic remains cheap, it no longer looks that way.


But the interior of LIfan X60 is almost exact copy the same RAV-4. Maybe that's why there are complaints about ergonomics driver's seat No? Everything is convenient, everything is at hand. Traditionally, products from the Chinese automobile industry are pleased with the presence of all sorts of bells and whistles that make staying in the car comfortable.

This includes air conditioning, power windows, a speaker system with a connector for connecting external devices and reading CDs, and many seat adjustments. At the same time, Chinese Lifan company Motors has repeatedly announced its plans to equip the X60 with all-wheel drive. The last time this was discussed was in 2013. Ardent fans of the brand have been eagerly waiting and continue to wait for such a modification to this day. However, whether the Lifan X60 will receive all-wheel drive or not is anyone's guess. Quite recently it became known that in 2017 there will be a all-wheel drive crossover Lifan X80. The appearance of this new product should strengthen the brand’s position on the Russian market.

Let me remind you that we already test drove the Lifan X60 in 2013, as well as the pre-production X60 with an automatic transmission, which never went into production. And so, we had the opportunity to ride the updated Lifan X60.

Appearance

The updated Lifan has changed slightly in appearance. The radiator grille slats have changed plane and are now positioned vertically, the fog lights have become LED, and the pattern has changed rear lights. The update clearly benefited the X60; now it is even more difficult to discern the “Chinese” in it. It has some originality, there is no similarity with others car brands, in other words, it's not a clone.

WITH technical side Lifan body X60 is welded well. The body rigidity is decent, although it does have some displacement of body parts. Even if the gaps are not completely adjusted in some places, the car coped well with the Chinese crash test. Of course, the tests in the Middle Kingdom are not the same as in Europe or America, but they are similar in parameters.

But interior decoration Lifan X60 has not changed at all since the update. The Chinese left everything in its place, without changes. Therefore, both the pros and cons remained the same. The only thing is that the interior assembly in the updated version seemed to us to be of better quality.

What are the advantages? First, the high-rise Lifan X60. You really feel like you're sitting in a crossover. Secondly, there are all the necessary functions and options: air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, heated front seats, a center armrest, an audio system with a USB output, six speakers and navigation. Third, there are ISOFIX child seat mounts and airbags. And in the most “top” version, the X60 has an electric sunroof.

Another positive factor is that the interior of the Lifan X60 does not have that intoxicating smell that Chinese owners often complain about. Although there is a smell from the cheap leatherette seats, it is very little, not like in the X50 model or in some other models from the Middle Kingdom. Unlike the same X50, there is one cup holder on the central tunnel, plus one in the front door pockets and two in the armrest in the rear row.

Speaking of passengers, in the back row of the X60, passengers are not deprived of space and comfort. There is enough space for two or three people, and the seat backs can be adjusted to tilt.

As for ensuring the safety of the driver and passengers, the Chinese decided to make do with only two front airbags, ABS system with help module emergency braking And electronic distribution EBD braking force.

Moving on to the X60's shortcomings, I don't want to criticize it too much. The main problems with the car are minor and are purely due to the negligence of engineers and assemblers. The power window buttons are so delicate that in order to open the glass to the required distance, you will have to resort to repeated pressing. Further, the air conditioner washers have slight play, the steering wheel is adjustable only in height, and the seats have an indistinct profile. It is quite possible to improve these shortcomings, you just need to introduce a competent quality system both at the stage of work of Lifan engineers and at the Derways assembly plant.

Trunk

The luggage compartment volume is 405 liters, and when folded back row, then you can triple the space and get an almost flat floor. By the way, you can fold the back row in a 60/40 ratio.

Engine and gearbox

IN updated Lifan X60, the Chinese did not change anything under the hood, leaving the previous LFB479Q unit unchanged. And if the Chinese never decided to install an automatic transmission on the X60, the CVT has already taken root on almost all models. According to the results of the test, the combination of the variator and the engine did not cause any contradictions. The Lifan X60 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 14.5 seconds, and the maximum speed of the car is 170 km/h. Owners say that in a “stock” car it’s possible to reach both 180 km/h and 190 km/h. Personally, I don’t recommend getting carried away with speed in this car. Its handling at speeds above 150 km/h does not inspire confidence in us. Lifan sails and yaws at high speeds.

Fuel consumption during the test drive in the mixed cycle was 10.7 liters of AI-92 per hundred, while the manufacturer reports 8.2 liters in the passport data.

Suspension

The X60 suspension has moderate energy consumption, and it is enough in the city and for trips to the country on a dirt road. The X60 has MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link suspension. Of course, you can break through it, but you will need to try to do this. If you drive properly over bumps, the suspension itself will not bother you; what will bother you more is the play in the steering rack, which is clearly felt on the steering wheel.

Lifan X60 is a practical city car that is capable of moving around the city, on the highway, and along the country road to the country. Required kit no-frills options complemented by a quite decent appearance. The only drawback of the model is, of course, the lack of all-wheel drive. The manufacturer has already promised all-wheel drive on the X60 so many times that many simply do not believe in its appearance.
