And they don’t forget about the abundance of versions for test drives either. Sellers, by the way, do not cease to be surprised that adults, driving this crossover, sometimes rejoice like children.

After in 2013, the car "sharpened", prettier. The interior remained practically the same, but there was no point in the changes: the restrained style does not become outdated for a long time.

The nobility of the interior is reinforced by the quality of the materials. A perfectly profiled chair does not tire you on a long journey. The rim of the steering wheel with tides in the places of grip is sheathed in pleasant leather. All buttons, keys and levers are where you expect them to be. Only the range of adjustment of the steering wheel on the flight I would like to slightly increase.

I sit on the back sofa “by myself”: there is plenty of room for my knees! A colleague with a height of 194 cm did not complain about the lack of space either. There is enough air above the head. The stabilization system does not completely turn off, but it allows you to go in an easy glide.

Echoes the chassis setup and a bunch of motor and gearbox. The “turbo four” CDA has an assertive character and a wide shelf of torque. And the preselective instinct of the DSG robot allows you to instantly shoot gears. The main disadvantage of the motor is the nameplate power: 152 "horses" transfer it to a higher tax category.

The rear wheels are connected at the slightest slip of the front, so on slippery roads you feel confident. Yes, and off-road Yeti is not to say that it is completely helpless: a flat bottom and sufficient ground clearance allow you not to succumb to difficulties. However, you do not feel full confidence because of the too short-travel suspension. The stiffness of the suspension also turns out to be not the best side: on large potholes it seems that you are holding the blow together with the car - the road profile is transmitted in such detail. But there are no breakdowns, and this is the main thing.

They perfectly understood that in, and throughout the world, more than half of sales are not made up of cars with a manual transmission, as, for example, in Europe. The SUV at one time stepped on this rake and was sold for several years only with a manual transmission. This predetermined his complete failure. On the contrary, now the Yeti is on the Skoda robotic box which can be ordered on all-wheel drive vehicles with the common "four" 1.8 TSI.

And until 2011, Skoda sold only a small part of the produced crossovers in Russia, while the same Nissan showed amazing results, as it had two gearbox modifications. But now things should go much better for Skoda.

In slow and jerky motion, the gearbox shifts between first and second gear with incredible smoothness. And even if you provoke it by sharply supplying fuel and slowing down, it will not switch from an even to an odd shaft or vice versa.

Reliably keep the body from hanging out in alternating mountain turns, the front seats with dense padding. And the rear passengers in the cabin feel good, comfortable, because they are happy with a solid gap between the knees and the backs of the seats thanks to a well-made vertical landing. As for the six-band robot with a pair of wet clutches, it was chosen in tandem with a turbo engine. It is clearly not suitable here, as, for example, on Superb. Firstly, due to the special layout, and secondly, due to the high margin of safety, because the thrust limit is 350 N instead of 250. And the six-band robot will better cope with the circulation of torque in this case with the Haldex 4 clutch.

And the safety margin of the "six-step" is much higher.

Here, the Skoda Yeti crossover feels like a fish in water. It is a monolith on the track and practically does not react to ruts. Taxiing and leaving, with which the driver of domestic SUVs is so familiar, in this case, you do not need to do it. If we add the silence of the engine to the advantages, then the Skoda Yeti crossover is just perfect racing car. Up to 100 km / h, only the slightest rustle betrays life outside the crossover window, and after a hundred they only solo side mirrors. Seventeen-inch tires with molded and standard European suspension are very humane to passengers, although large holes are recommended to be avoided. There, the Skoda Yeti crossover fails with a blow, and the shock absorbers lack a little stiffness during the rebound.

Some slack was found under full thrust. A clear failure is found after the first gear, when, on switching on the second, the car responds with convulsions and jerks.

In addition, during fast accelerations from low to medium speed, the gearbox often takes up to 1.5 seconds to determine the transition to two or three steps down.

As you know, cars with DSG gain 100 km / h faster than "mechanical" models. The Skoda Yeti crossover has the opposite. The acceleration time to 100 km / h for the robot is 0.3 more than for the manual transmission. And even lower than the version with a handle - 192 km / h versus 200 km / h. But no comments on the braking dynamics, which is more convenient to control when decelerating from high speeds. And on the highway it happens much better than in the city.

The remaining indicators of the Skoda Yeti crossover are just one grace. Still, such an alliance, which is formed by a 152-horsepower turbo engine and a “preselection”, still needs to be looked for in this class. Feeling once, how alive new model takes you away from the local tinted Prior by, you understand how such a modification was lacking. The automated system will skillfully select gears during dynamic driving and will keep the current speed to the last even when cornering, and the driver will never be left without traction.

Crossover Skoda Yeti just loves bends to the point of insanity! Although she rolls a little and occasionally sways, she holds on to the trajectory with a stranglehold. If the driver lowers the gas pedal, then the Skoda Yeti crossover rolls over.

The crossover is built on the basis of a larger old Skoda Octavia: from her he borrowed a "cart" with a McPherson front suspension and a rear multi-link, as well as supercharged engines and an all-wheel drive system with a Haldex clutch. True, unlike the pre-reform version, equipped with a 4th generation electro-hydraulic clutch, the restyled version received a 5th generation mechanism, which is lighter and faster. The new clutch works with a constant preload and transmits to rear axle 4 percent of traction even in standard conditions, but it does not completely block and, in the absence of traction on the front wheels, can send back no more than 90 percent of the moment.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

Given that Yeti, like others Skoda cars, primarily positioned as family car, it is not surprising that its off-road capabilities are limited, even in the case of all-wheel drive modification. Still, its 180 mm clearance and good geometry of short bumpers to conquer Russian off-road not enough. But for the city and country primer - a completely different matter. For the harsh Russian winter, Bigfoot has heated front seats, side mirrors and washer nozzles windshield. On the 2nd row is not too spacious, but this is more than offset by the incredible functionality of the rear seats.
