Comparison of Ford Fiesta and Hyundai Getz. Life capsules: Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Getz, Opel Corsa, Nissan Micra. Brief technical characteristics

Ford Fiesta 1.6 manual transmission

Outside

From English, French and Spanish, the word “fiesta” is translated the same way: “holiday”. True, the current latest Ford Fiesta does not externally evoke particularly festive emotions - among our four, the car looks, perhaps, the most austere.

But in fairness, we note: those looking for “fun” can safely be referred to the “three-door” - even in sports version ST this car successfully fits into the image of a “racer”.

The five-door hatchback looks heavier: due to the almost vertical tailgate, the roof seems slightly higher than it should be for a car less than four meters long.

In general, the design of the Ford Fiesta has many similarities with the design of the Fusion, but still does not leave the impression that in front of you is a bus in miniature.

Inside

The Fiesta's interior resembles the decoration of the entire Ford passenger line, adjusted for the status and age of the model. The instrument panel has no hints of a modest B-class - everything is symmetrical, strict, functional, and most importantly, comfortable...

I remember that our buyer did not particularly favor the pre-restyling Fiesta: the manufacturer reinforced the large number of options and the solidity of the interior (among other things) with a very significant price tag - the car turned out to be more expensive than the Focus, even in the initial configuration.

Now the situation has changed, but Fiesta has remained true to its declared style plan.

The Ford Fiesta will feel good for both the driver and passengers - the interior is not very wide, but the headroom remains decent.

Luggage will also be good: the Fiesta’s trunk is the largest of the four. Naturally, it can be increased by folding out the back of the rear seat completely or in parts.

On the move

Perched next to a Ford Fiesta at a traffic light, the “ten” with a hefty spoiler on the trunk lid, shiny wheels and other naive attributes of an “uncompromising sport” roared invitingly with direct flow.

Racing in the city? No, excuse me, but just a few “clutch-gear-gas” transitions were enough for the Fiesta to take revenge on all the “babies” collected in our test.

Hundred horsepower under the hood, a little more than a ton of curb weight can create a small miracle - the car accelerates so willingly and briskly that sometimes you wonder why your body is not fixed in a rigid “bucket”, and your ears are not caressed by a specially tuned exhaust sound...

When the tachometer needle approaches the 3500 rpm mark, the engine begins to overly insistently remind you of its hard work. You can maintain acoustic comfort by operating the gear lever more often, but in active driving mode you will have to put up with the noise.

The Fiesta's suspension showed excellent performance during high-speed maneuvers: the car did not allow itself to sway or roll. The other side of the coin is tough testing of uneven road surfaces at low and medium speeds.

Total

Ford Fiesta is good for those who value small car cubic meters of useful internal space along with the ability to “grasp with a twinkle.” And I’m ready to pay for it the money set aside for a car of a higher class.

The Ford guys did their job to perfection - the car boasts not only a comfortable, practical interior, but also an incendiary engine (in version 1.6) and a well-tuned chassis.

But any “holiday” turns out to be especially bright when it smells of novelty, and the car has clearly been delayed on the assembly line. Well, look forward to the updates!

Hyundai Getz 1.4 manual transmission

Outside

Hyundai Getz became a breakthrough Korean brand in Russian automotive market. Nobody thought that with the help of a modest small car it was possible to make “weather” in the vastness of our Motherland, but the fact remains that there were queues for Getz. And even now the restyled model is in enviable demand.

The designers did not experiment with the appearance of the car, created back in 2002, so the restyling carried out three years later did not greatly affect the appearance of the Getz - except that the features of the “face” became smoother. But in general, the angular shapes, which have already become the hallmark of the car, have been preserved.

The good news is that despite the small dimensions of the car, the designers managed to make the doorways wide and comfortable, without disturbing the proportions of the body.

Inside

There really is room for your imagination to run wild! But on one condition: if you want to be original and are willing to pay extra for it.

For example, you can order the interior trim with red or blue inserts, or you can leave the traditional black and gray color scheme. The latter is probably more practical in our conditions, but it is somehow gloomy and only emphasizes the simplicity of the interior.

However, simple does not mean inconvenient. The driver’s seat is “tailored” perfectly: the seat is comfortable, the instruments are easy to read, the steering wheel fits well in the hands.

Add to this the five adjustments of the driver's seat plus the height adjustment of the steering wheel - and it turns out that in its price range, Getz is among the leaders in terms of interior comfort.

On the move

The restyling of the appearance was supplemented by technical changes: two new engines appeared in the line - 1.1 l (66 hp) and 1.4 l (97 hp). There is, however, a more powerful version - 1.6 liters (106 hp), but, in our opinion, the 1.4 liter engine is still optimal for this model.

This unit begins to drive confidently from about 2,000 rpm and has a fairly wide range of confident traction: you can accelerate to 4,000-4,500 rpm without switching. Moreover, while driving, the car behaves quite quietly: the sound insulation of the interior is excellent.

The steering wheel, which, contrary to the latest trends in the small class, is equipped with a hydraulic rather than an electric booster, allows you to accurately select the required “angle of attack”, and the manual transmission, despite the rather large lever stroke, is highly selective.

The impression was somewhat spoiled by the “cotton” brake and clutch pedals, but perhaps finding mutual understanding with them is a matter of habit. Moreover, there are no complaints about the quality of braking, especially in the version with ABS.

The main thing is not to drive recklessly on potholes, since on bumps the impacts are transmitted to the body very noticeably.

Total

Hyundai Getz, despite its advanced model age, has not lost its main advantages - it is still relatively affordable, has decent dynamics (with a 1.4 liter engine) and looks good. Perhaps this is the secret of his long popularity. True, in terms of possible equipment, the car is somewhat inferior to its more famous competitors, but necessary set, such as front airbags, ABS and air conditioning, he is ready to provide.

Opel Corsa 1.2 l, 80 l. p., manual transmission Easytronic

Outside

In terms of originality, the Corsa may be inferior to the Micra, but it cannot be called less attractive. Compared to the other two test participants, Opel looks especially striking.

The nice front end with a keel is made in the corporate style; the transparent headlights are playfully “curved” upward, and the falling “shoulder” line and inclined, emphasized arches make the hatchback’s silhouette wedge-shaped and swift. You may not like the Opel design, but you won't recognize the Corsa stylish car impossible.

In addition, if you imagine a hatch with a dark color rather than a light one, Corsa will change the impression of itself. It will suddenly lose its playfulness, and in the combination of smooth contours with “sharp” elements, even some aggressiveness will be felt. And what will remain feminine in him?

Inside

Toy. There’s no more precise description of the Corsa’s interior – a beige “spot” on the center console; orange backlighting of instruments, buttons and adjustment knobs; The combination of rough and polished plastic creates the atmosphere of the interior of a children's car.

However, the interior can change dramatically along with the equipment - especially with the polished plastic of the Cosmo version...

A wide range of adjustments in the driver's seat, as well as the ability to adjust the steering column's height and reach, will help you get comfortable behind the wheel of the Corsa.

The seats, although soft, are well profiled, which is why your back does not get tired in them. But the plastic around, on the contrary, is hard. Even on the dashboard.

On the move

Like most robotic boxes, Easytronic is not the most convenient thing. In “automatic” mode it is almost impossible to move without “pecks” and “jerks.” But in “manual” it all depends on the driver: if you slightly hold the gas when shifting, the gearbox will change gear optimally, without delay. Smoothness requires effort.

So, unlike modern automatic transmissions, this box does not adapt to the driver, but requires you to adapt to it!

The suspension is quite energy-intensive and comfort-oriented. In corners, the Corsa leans and clearly shows the limits of its capabilities. And the brakes are not bad: powerful, but very sensitive: passengers will unanimously respond with a nod to the slightest “overdose” of effort. .

And the engine is just great! Quiet, playful at the low end and quite torquey for a 1.2 liter. And most importantly: seven liters of gasoline in the city is in order for him! You can, of course, choose a less powerful (1.0 l, 60 hp) or more powerful (1.4 l, 90 hp) option, but with the first, acceleration to “hundreds” will take almost 20 seconds, and with the second there is a fundamental advantage you won't get it.

Total

A car that is bright in appearance and very balanced in terms of driving performance, which is ideal for girls. But men won’t have to be ashamed of it either - they just have to choose the appropriate color and the “right” wheel size... And the queues for it are not the same as six months ago. The excitement is starting to subside...

Nissan Micra 1.2 l, 80 l. p., automatic transmission

Externally

Time has no power over the Micra: it is undoubtedly the most extravagant of our test hatchbacks – even though the first

Nissan's signature two-level front panel: the top floor is dedicated to the radio and on-board computer, and the lower one – to the climate control unit. The automatic transmission selector has a long handle: you don’t need to reach for it.

The pleasant ability to move the rear seat within 20 cm allows you to increase either legroom for rear passengers or the volume of the luggage compartment.

On the unpleasant side: getting comfortable behind the wheel is hampered by the insufficient adjustment ranges of the seats, the backs of which, in addition to this, are soft and flat. Passengers of average height will feel a bit cramped in the rear. That's why it's "Micra"!

On the move

In corners, the Micra isn't the most optimally handling of the four; In addition, the effort on the steering wheel is rather indistinct. But in terms of smoothness it will give many a head start - it is focused on comfortable movement around the city and optimal damping of impacts on potholes and road defects.

Total

A non-trivial city car; judging by the design, it is definitely aimed at a female audience. Each element of the Micra is designed for someone who, having only glanced at it in passing, will no longer be able to take it away and will be persistent in her desires. The Micra may not be the most fun hatchback to drive, but it's a godsend for people who value smoothness and comfort at an affordable price.

The most popular compact models on the secondary market

When choosing such a car for secondary market At the forefront, as a rule, is a purely utilitarian question: how much will its maintenance and operation cost? And not only because such used cars are most often the first in someone’s life, and money for your first car, as you know, is the most difficult to earn. But also because it is simply a sin to incur large expenses, having in the garage a car that is modest in all respects, and not even new. Of course, when choosing, the technical characteristics of the model, the level of comfort, and driving performance are important... But it is in the compact class and It is in the “second-hand” market that the buyer most meticulously analyzes how all the parameters of the car correspond to its price.

Meanwhile, this class is represented on the market by a huge number of models. But any attempt to consider them all in one newspaper review is doomed to failure - such a volume of information is simply impossible to digest. Therefore, we took only four models for analysis. And not only because they occupy high positions in the sales rankings. They, in fact, reflect many of the problems that are inherent in compact class models on the secondary market.

So, our review includes: “Peugeot 206”, “ Opel Corsa", "Ford Fiesta" and "Hyundai Getz". All of them have a fairly wide range of modifications, but we will focus on the most popular versions - five- and three-door hatchbacks. And, as usual, let's look at cars

at the age of five.

Production - since 1998

restyling - 2001 and 2008

I WOULD recommend this model to those for whom appearance car is of great importance. A bright car that immediately catches your eye. It is no coincidence that there are a lot of women among the fans of “206th”. By the way, an important detail when choosing a used copy is - in whose hands was it before you? Women behind the wheel, of course, are more careful drivers than men, they won’t simply press the gas all the way, but they also have a consistent sin - somehow it turns out that they quite often hit the bumper, then the fender, or the door in completely incomprehensible places, and therefore their cars are often, let’s say, clattered... But, you must admit, scratches on the body that are visible to the eye (a reason to bargain once again) are better than the consequences of a serious accident hidden by new, painted body panels...

One curious detail: the 206’s odometer readings are almost never adjusted. The fact is that the mileage data is also stored in electronic unit. Therefore, you need to not only find a craftsman who can deal with this block, but also fork out a fair amount. According to our information, such an operation to understate real mileage for a Peugeot 206 it costs about 6,000 rubles. Hardly anyone from previous owners will go to such risky expenses...

Before buying a car, you should find out whether there are specialized centers in your city. Because after five years of operation, the Peugeot 206 needs a comprehensive overhaul. The fact is that during this time, rubber products, oil seals and silent blocks wear out. If they are not changed in time, you will subsequently have to spend significantly larger sums. For example, a CV joint boot costs a penny, but if the CV joint itself flies, then you will have to spend about 5,000 rubles to replace it. And a similar picture exists for many other nodes.

As practice shows, in order to maintain a Peugeot 206 in good condition throughout the year, you need to budget approximately 15,000-20,000 rubles. Of course, this does not include fuel and insurance costs. By the way, you don’t have to spend money on comprehensive insurance - in order for a car thief to be interested in the 206, its owner will have to pay extra to the thieves..

The Peugeot 206 has completely independent suspension, which is rare in the compact class. There are McPherson struts at the front and two transverse torsion bars at the rear. This chassis provides the model with decent handling. On cars sold by Russian dealers, chassis strengthened in comparison with specimens brought from Europe. They have higher ground clearance, retuned springs and shock absorbers.

The most popular on the secondary market are cars with gasoline engine volume 1.4 l (75 hp). This engine is optimal for compact car- it has traction and is economical. The version with a 1.6-liter (109 hp) “four” accounts for only one tenth of all used “206s”. If you are looking for a copy with an automatic transmission, then remember that the automatic transmission is the weak point of this car. When taking a test drive, please note special attention to the winter mode warning light - it should not blink for no reason. Be sure to use reverse gear: switching on should occur without jerking or impact.

Already in the basic version (XR) the “206th” is equipped with a driver’s airbag (European versions have two), central locking and tinted windows. The XS variant added front electric windows. The XT version also included a velor interior, an audio system and foglights.

Take note

If you drive carelessly through deep holes or bumps, the shock may trigger the emergency button on the fuel pump, cutting off the fuel supply. But don't rush to call a tow truck. “Reanimating” a car is very simple. You just need to open the hood and press that red emergency button, which is located behind the battery, near the brake fluid reservoir.

ONE of the editorial staff once described this car in two words: good quality and reliability! And when I asked him to elaborate on the meaning of such an assessment, he replied:

There are no frills. It has just what you need! And that's it good level performance! Reliable, and for all occasions..

I also like this car. With its calm and at the same time completely modern appearance. With his riding abilities and driving performance. Such a faithful, reliable horse who is always ready to serve you..

Ford Fiesta” unquestioningly obeys all the desires of the driver. Moreover, the suspension design here is quite simple and unpretentious - McPherson struts in front, semi-independent beam in the rear. However, thanks to optimal settings, the little Ford is predictable and reliable to drive.

When choosing a car, pay careful attention to the condition of the body. A little historical note is required here. In the period 2005-2006, the manufacturing company switched to environmental water-based hull painting technology. As often happens, when introducing know-how, “growing pains” appeared. Therefore, if the body of the specimen you like looks unpresentable and needs painting, remember that bringing it to good condition it will be quite expensive.

Almost the entire range of non-original body parts is offered for Ford Fiesta. They cost two to three times less than original products. But here I advise you not to rush and exercise extreme caution. Since the vast majority of body parts produced, for example, in China or Taiwan, simply, in the terminology of the craftsmen, “do not fit in place.” To fit, for example, a wing, you have to work with it for several hours. In this case, as they say, the game is not worth the candle...

Well, since we are talking about money, I should note that maintaining a Ford Fiesta should not cost its owner very much. Around 10-14 thousand rubles per year. This model is also of no interest to car thieves.

Now about the engines. According to experts, a 1.4-liter engine is considered optimal. It is moderately high-torque and at the same time economical. For those who like something faster, I recommend the model with a 1.6 liter engine. It provides the light machine with enviable dynamics. Both engines of the Duratec series readily digest 92-octane gasoline and are generally unpretentious. We do not recommend choosing the 1.3-liter version. This engine is noisy and weak, and the fuel consumption is the same as its more powerful siblings.

A few words about automatic transmission. The Ford Fiesta has a clear division here. The 1.6-liter engine comes in conjunction with a hydromechanical automatic transmission, and models with an 80-horsepower 1.4-liter engine

were produced in tandem with the “Durashift” robotic gearbox. If you follow our publications, you know that “robots,” especially of that period, are not best option transmissions. And in this case, the robotic box not only suffers from thoughtfulness, but also overheats in traffic jams.

There is no need to talk much about the model’s configuration. In the basic version, it has ABS, power steering and front airbags. However, in our market there are quite a few such “poor” cars. Much more cars are offered with electric windows and air conditioning.

Take note

Paradoxical as it may seem, the most vulnerable spot body - this is the rear license plate illumination area. Corrosion appears here with enviable frequency every two to three years. Repairs will cost 2,300 rubles at a specialized service. From an official dealer - one and a half times more expensive.

EXPERT OPINION

Vladimir Ostapenko, head of the metalworking shop of the US Impex company:

Don't be surprised if the airbag warning light suddenly comes on on your Ford Fiesta. This is an inherent design defect and can happen even on relatively new cars. The reason is simple - poor wiring contact. There was a recall campaign regarding this issue, when because of this it was necessary to change the steering hub clock spring.

Often after winter operation The electronic regulator of the heater tap turns sour. For preventive purposes, we recommend developing this mechanism by periodically switching its operating modes.

If you often fill the tank with gasoline at dubious gas stations, the valves may become stuck in their guides. And this is already fraught with expensive repairs (15,000-20,000 rubles) or the need to replace the block head (from 35,000 rubles). On official service you will be charged 35-50% more.

Engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liters are the most popular in the Russian secondary market. They have a belt drive for the gas distribution mechanism, but their valves are not equipped with hydraulic compensators and are adjusted with washers (from 2,000 rubles) after 100,000 km. Moreover, according to the regulations, the timing belt is replaced after 160,000 km, although in Russian operating conditions it is desirable to reduce this period by one and a half times. The 1.3 liter engine is equipped with a durable chain, the service life of which is one and a half to two times longer.

In manual transmissions, after three to four years of service, the input shaft oil seal leaks. The part itself costs a penny, but replacement will cost 4,500 rubles, since for this the gearbox and engine must be suspended. Robotic box“Durashift” in loaded modes (long uphill driving, driving in traffic jams) is prone to overheating, which will be indicated by trembling on the brake pedal. True, the performance of the gearbox is completely restored after cooling the clutch mechanism.

WHEN DESIGNING this car, the Koreans tried to please the tastes of fastidious Europeans. And I must say that they did it well. “ Hyundai Getz” is different attractive appearance, comfortable interior and reliable handling.

The interior is designed in a laconic business style. The materials, although not the most expensive, seem to be quite good in appearance. “Getz” is one of the tallest cars in the class (149 cm), which helped to rationally manage the internal space, and at the same time provide convenient entry and exit and a high seating position.

Another advantage of the salon would be the ample opportunities to place various small items that are always needed on the road. There is a shelf for an umbrella under the steering column. Above the driver's door there is an eyeglass case; on the sides of the seat backs there are pockets for road atlases, and on the back of the right front seat there is a folding hook for clothes.

During a trial test of the car, you may be alerted by a quiet knocking sound coming from the depths rear suspension. These sounds, which are emitted by the upper shock absorber mounts, do not pose any danger or threat. According to the manufacturer, they are not considered a malfunction, but are a somewhat unusual perceived specificity of the chassis.

And on the move, by the way, the “Hyundai Getz” behaves very decently. The suspension (McPherson struts at the front, semi-independent beam at the rear) is tuned specifically for the European market. It very carefully levels out unevenness and at the same time provides decent handling. Although the smooth ride may seem insufficient to many.

When inspecting a used Getz, pay attention to the condition of its body, which cannot boast of lasting corrosion protection. In just two or three Russian winters The windshield wiper arms give in to rust. It will take a little longer for the brown spots to appear on the edge. back door and hood, as well as sills and the bottom of the doors. Restoring and painting these body elements will cost at least 25,000 rubles.

Among the three gasoline engines volumes of 1.1 liter (67 hp), 1.4 liter (97 hp) and 1.6 liter (106 hp), with which “Getz” were sold in Russia, the most popular is the 1.4-liter. It turned out to be the most picky about the quality of fuel: it can stall after a cold start or its speed suddenly begins to fluctuate. Usually, “reflashing” the control unit for about 3,000 rubles helps. For everyone power units, in addition to the base, in addition to the standard five-speed manual transmission A four-speed automatic was offered.

IN standard The GL car was equipped with power steering, an immobilizer, electric windows, a driver's airbag and central locking. But there are few such empty cars on the market. More common are GLS variants, additionally equipped with air conditioning, fog lights, passenger airbag, heated seats and electric mirrors.

Well, in terms of maintenance costs, this model is not much different from other competitors. If nothing unexpected happens, an amount in the range of 9,000-12,000 will be enough for a year.

Take note

Once inside, check the operation of the seat heating buttons located between the seats on the central tunnel. They are afraid of moisture. A little liquid that gets on these keys immediately disables them. The repair will cost almost 2,000 rubles. The power window buttons are also short-lived.

EXPERT OPINION

Egor Pereverzev, master of the metalworking shop of the Kraft company:

Hyundai Getz has enough engines are reliable. Only after a couple of years will the hydraulic compensators begin to knock, and even then this usually happens immediately after a cold start, and after warming up the knocking subsides and does not progress over time. 50,000-70,000 km allotted to oil seals crankshaft, the replacement of which will cost approximately 3,000 rubles at a specialized service.

If the corrugation of the exhaust pipe on your car burns out (you can immediately determine this by the bass rumble coming from under the bottom of the car), then do not delay visiting the service. Replacing the corrugation will cost approximately 4,000 rubles. If this is not done, then it will be cooked incorrectly. fuel-air mixture will kill the catalytic converter. And this is already a much significant expense...

By 80,000 km, the engine mounts “get tired” (1,500-2,000 rubles). You can find out about this by increased vibration or knocking under the hood when the engine speed increases. In this case, contact service immediately. Otherwise, the housing of one of the supports will collapse, causing the engine to sag and may even fall.

The automatic transmission of the Hyundai Getz works reliably up to approximately 100,000 kilometers. Then it may develop problems and must be rebuilt. Sometimes malfunctions occur in the control electronics - the speed sensors of the input and output shafts fail, which is why the “automatic machine” begins to twitch and often goes into emergency mode. True, repairs cost no more than 5,000 rubles.

The suspension will last at least 100,000 km during normal use. Then you may have to replace the front shock absorbers (2,600 rubles each) along with the support bearings (300 rubles each). After the same mileage, wheel bearings (1,500 rubles), steering tips (750 rubles), silent blocks (1,200 rubles per side) and ball joints (725 rubles), which are replaced separately from the levers, will require updating.

PRACTICALITY, accessibility and durability - this is perhaps how this model can be characterized. And don't be fooled by its modest design. Believe me: in a very short time you will even like the appearance of the car. Because this car is harmonious. He is calm both externally and internally. He has one task: to faithfully serve you for the entire term allotted to him.

Nothing in this car will irritate you. And the ergonomics are as if you’ve been driving a Corsa all your life - everything is at hand, everything is convenient and thoughtful. There are even such little things as, for example, additional lower seals in the doors, thanks to which the thresholds remain clean in any weather. And the central locking opens the driver's door first, and only the second time - the rest. Convenient and safe. Or large exterior rear-view mirrors that provide good visibility. However, due to their size, aerodynamics suffer, as a result of which the front door windows quickly become dirty in rainy weather.

However, I was a little overzealous in my desire to admire this model. It's time to add a fly in the ointment to this barrel of ointment. It is much more useful for a future buyer to know about possible (even extremely rare and even extremely minor) problems than to read someone’s rave reviews. For example, the gears of a manual transmission are not activated clearly here. Many novice drivers often even turn on third instead of first gear, and fourth instead of second, and vice versa. And the long-travel clutch pedal makes it difficult to start...

“Opel Corsa” is distinguished by good repairability, simplicity of design and inexpensive spare parts. For example, a hood can be bought for 3,900 rubles, and a headlight unit for 3,400 rubles. True, these will be non-original parts. And you can have your car repaired at almost any specialized service center.

The Opel suspension design is no different from most competitors - the front McPherson struts, and the rear - a semi-independent H-shaped beam. There are no surprises in terms of handling either.

Despite the fact that the Opel Corsa was equipped with a very diverse range of engines (four petrol and two turbodiesel), Russian market this model was supplied only with petrol four-cylinder engines of 1.2 liters (80 hp) and 1.4 liters (90 hp). Transmissions - five-speed manual, four-speed automatic and robotic gearbox“Easytronic”, which is unlikely to satisfy those who prefer an active driving style. The “automatic” is faster in this regard, but keep in mind that it was only available with a 1.4-liter engine.

The basic version of the “Opel Corsa” was practically empty: ABS, front airbags, electric power steering and audio preparation. Apparently, this is why there are few such copies on the secondary market. Mostly versions are offered with front electric windows, an audio system and air conditioning. There are many models with climate control, xenon headlights...

The former owners loved this car.

Take note

If the car you choose has decent mileage, pay close attention to how it runs. steering rack. To do this, sharply turn the steering wheel from side to side. If you find a large gap, accompanied by characteristic knocking sounds, feel free to bargain for 25,000 rubles - the minimum cost of replacing the rack.

EXPERT OPINION

Andrey Astakhov, warranty engineer at Auto-Start:

Robotic gearbox “Easytronic” - main headache owners of a used Opel Corsa. This transmission requires reconfiguration at each maintenance - we call this retraining the clutch engagement point. Working together with mandatory replacement brake fluid, which usually completely loses its properties after 15,000 km, costs only 2,500 rubles. Also make it a rule that when standing for a long time in a traffic jam or at a traffic light with the “Auto” mode activated, switch to N (neutral). Otherwise, the transmission control unit will fail, and it costs up to 30,000 rubles.

On five- to six-year-old specimens, the head optics become matte and dull. The fact is that the caps covering the headlights are made of plastic, which loses its transparency over time. The part is not supplied separately as spare parts, and replacing the entire headlight is expensive. Instead, specialized workshops offer cap polishing for 800-900 rubles, which is enough for a couple of seasons.

If your car has a 1.4 liter engine, then keep in mind that the timing belt needs to be changed every 60,000 kilometers. God forbid the belt breaks. Then you are guaranteed repair of the block head. And these are already decent expenses - somewhere from 30,000 rubles...

After 120,000 kilometers, the belt must be changed along with tension rollers. It is advisable to update the water pump at the same time. Work together with spare parts will cost approximately 6,000 rubles.

There are no special problems with the suspension (McPherson strut at the front, semi-independent beam at the rear), and it is inexpensive to maintain. Weak point- a steering rack that begins to knock after a couple of years of driving on our roads. ABS sensors also fail. True, they change them along with the hubs - and that’s 12,000 rubles.

Author Edition Klaxon No. 5 2011
...It was 2001. I was still in school then. In the latest autoreview article - comparison test Fiesta, Citroen C3 and Volkswagen Polo. There they called the Ford the most driver's car, and what kid doesn't dream of being a cool driver??? So I began to dream about how I would grow up and buy myself a Fiesta and drive it. Dreams do happen. And so I faced the choice of a reliable, dynamic, attractive, comfortable, safe car for about $15,000. But Ford has a lot of competitors! The same Focus 2, which I absolutely do not like, unlike the old one. And also – Citroen C3, Nissan Micra, Opel Corsa, Skoda Fabia honda jazz Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Colt, Chervolet Aveo, Hyundai Getz, Ford Fusion... First things first.

1. Citroen C3 was dropped almost immediately due to its high price, unclear handling, dubious reliability and creepy interior design with cheap plastic.

2. Nissan Micra – an interesting option, Japanese, handsome, reliable and stylish. Too stylish, damn it, you feel like a homosexual in it. In addition, with my height 187 cm, it’s simply too tight for me. front seat!! And the engine could have been more powerful...

3. Opel Corsa. I admit, this is where I started my ordeal in choosing a car. It has a comfortable suspension, excellent interior design, sufficient space, and good engines. But the ride is a little blurry, the gearbox drive is not very good, the electric steering wheel, although informative, is too light. In addition, in the desired configuration the price turned out to be prohibitive. He rejected the German with regret.

4. Skoda Fabia is the only one of all of the above in which I sat in the front seat without bending my legs in an uncomfortable position. I even had to move one click closer to the steering wheel. The range of longitudinal adjustment is great! But there are a lot of disadvantages - the design is crap both inside and outside, the engines are frankly dead, the price is sky-high. Fuck it.

5. Honda Jazz. IMHO – the best city car for a person who does not have any special driving ambitions. An excellent CVT gearbox with 7 gears and control buttons on the steering wheel, a silent engine, a huge interior with small dimensions, excellent equipment (ABS, 4 airbags, CD, climate...), excellent interior design (instruments - optitron!!!) and exterior, reliable handling... It's a pity, for all this they are asking 17900, it's damn expensive!!! Yes, and I wanted more dynamics...

6. Mitsubishi Lancer. Cool chassis. Wonderful motor. Boring appearance. Stupid interior. Sedan. Everyone has it. Pop music. Although I liked the car with the automatic machine so much... that I was just glad that I didn’t have money for it!

7. Mitsubishi Colt. Plastic on wheels. Badass on the outside, cheap on the inside. A strange driving position, a plunger instead of a gearshift lever... if not for this, then I would have thought about it, but otherwise... a good engine (1.3, 97 horses), good handling, I’ll leave all this to other buyers

8. Chervolet Aveo. A joke machine with a cocky character and a good price. The appearance of the hatchback is very interesting, but the terrible smell of plastic in the cabin quickly reminds you that this is not a Chevrolet, but even a Daewoo, sorry, Kalos. For this money you can buy a more thoroughbred car. In addition, the reliability and durability of Koreans confuses me.

9. Hyundai Getz. Correct as a refrigerator. Looks like a nerd. The appearance is quite good, the interior is also okay, except that the finishing materials let us down, but it’s a little cramped for me behind the wheel. It drives confidently, the gears click... but it doesn’t leave you with the feeling that you didn’t buy a car, not a horse with soul and character, but bought a food processor, reliable, functional and faceless. If I had chosen only in rubles, then Goetz would have won, but I also wanted to enjoy driving, and not just move from point A to point B. Besides, did you carefully read the warranty that they supposedly have for 5 years?? ??

10. Fyuzhik! Sassy with high ground clearance and claims to be a jeep, with a competent interior and good equipment. If it were cheaper, I would still think about it, but... overpaying two or three bucks for extra centimeters doesn’t work.

11. Focus 2 beckoned at first low prices... until it turned out that these prices are much higher than for a Fiesta in the same configuration. And the Focus drives a little hard, somehow sluggish and indistinct, even with a 2.0 engine. So the elder brother also remained in the shadows.

What about Fiesta? You could hit the road with it after working with the calculator! Consider: 100 horsepower, air conditioning, 6-disc changer, ABS, stabilization system, 4 airbags, leather steering wheel, trip computer, leather steering wheel - all this cost me $15,185!!! And if you consider that I really liked the appearance, the interior, the dynamics, the handling, the spaciousness, the size, and the efficiency, then... it turned out that the possibilities completely coincided with the desires! What do you say? Tell us, how do you feel about all of the above competitors of Ford?

Fiesta will be better, but buying a car that will be discontinued... I don’t know if it’s worth it.

By the way, there really was a topic, everything was described in detail there. (here is part of what I wrote there)

Quite often I have to drive both cars, both 1.6 manual transmissions. Here's a quick comparison.

Suspension.

The Fiesta is definitely more interesting to drive, the car is more lively, the understeer is almost not pronounced, rather the Fiesta has a tendency to oversteer, depending on who you want, I like it, the main thing is not to overdo it. Goetz doesn’t want to respond to the release of gas by skidding, but Fiesta does it with pleasure. The Goetz has pronounced understeer, safe but boring.

In general, the Fiesta’s suspension is definitely stiffer and, IMHO, noisier, the Getz doesn’t notice small seams and cracks on the asphalt, but the Fiesta transfers them to the body, and in general it’s more pleasant to drive on a broken road on a Getz. But due to the stiffer suspension, the Fiesta, unlike the Getza, does not rock on the waves of asphalt.

In general, the Getz is more comfortable and silent, the Fiesta is more sporty and lively.

Engine (dynamics)
At Fiesta, the sound of the engine is annoying, the vacuum cleaner at home makes a nobler noise. Getz 1.6 on high speed sounds much nicer.
We haven’t driven the quarter yet, we’ll have to wait for spring, but according to subjective feelings, the fiesta will go around the getz, not due to the engine, but due to the short row, but overall the cars are approximately equal in terms of dynamics. The fiesta row is much shorter! Where the fiesta begins to end the third, the getza has a cutoff for the second
I also like Ford’s gearbox better, but only because the moves are smaller, and IMHO it works more clearly...

Salon.
There is no friend for the taste and color.

But since our Fiesta has a black interior, and the Getza has a two-color interior, the Getza is definitely more fun and comfortable.

On the front panel of the Fiesta, the plastic is nicer and softer, but also on the Getza it is well chosen, hard, but looks quite solid.
All the doors in the Getze (and the hood) close softer and more pleasantly; in the Fiesta the hood makes a terrible noise.

The space in the cabin is about the same, but in the Getza there still seems to be a little more space, especially in the back.
In Fiesta we are pleased with the larger adjustment ranges than in Goetza driver's seat.
In a Getza, with a height of 186, I always drive with the seat pushed back all the way, but in a Fiesta, if I push the seat all the way back, I can’t even fully depress the clutch. (But if in a getza you can still sit behind the driver, whose seat is pushed all the way back, then in a fiesta, well, no way.)

I would buy a getz for a woman, it’s more comfortable and easier to drive in winter

This is not the first time that all three cars have appeared on the pages of our magazine. "Kalina" is the main trump card domestic auto industry for the next five to six years. Fiesta is one of the best-selling cars in Europe for five generations. Getz is the Russian sales champion among compact class hatchbacks. From direct comparison not to leave, but it is much more important to understand what Kalina’s chances are and what to expect in the near future. By car!

Is shorter better?

The Kalina hatchback is 190 mm shorter than the sedan, which was taken away from the trunk. Spacious salon wasn't hurt at all. Of course, the characteristic protrusion of the floor under the rear seat still makes it difficult to get in and out of the car comfortably, especially for those who wear shoes size 44 or larger... But of all the cars on test, only its rear seat is able to accommodate three in sufficient comfort. Unfortunately, there was not enough fuse for the headrests - in the event of a blow from behind, the passengers' necks would be in serious danger. Current certification standards do not require the presence of these elements, but I would really like to feel the manufacturer’s desire to make a competitive car, and not just meet current standards.

“Kalina” looks quite decent: moderate and even body gaps, tightly closing doors, well-fitted upholstery elements. But having become acquainted with the interior by touch, you understand that there is a distance from imported quality huge size. Standing in the dim autumn sun, “Kalina” emits such an amber that you want to open the window as soon as possible. By the way, why don't the windows in the front doors roll down completely? And such tight knobs control heating and ventilation? Why do you have to turn it counterclockwise to make it warmer? And even the pleasant-looking seat, quite acceptable on the editorial Kalina, here seems to be stuffed with semolina. Where did the two extra pistons fall onto the floor? Maybe someone on the conveyor forgot to insert it?!

However, when driving, the hatchback turned out to be quieter than the sedan we are used to - the sound insulation is clearly better, and the exhaust system, although not entirely serial, growls more moderately. As you drive, the engine sound becomes louder, accompanied by the rattling of the gear shift mechanism. Everything can be learned by comparison - even the loud “Fiesta” after “Kalina” seems quiet.

The electric booster worked without any whims, but did not become intelligible: in a tense turn you can rather guess the position of the wheels. However, the results of measurements of the almost untested (less than 200 km) Kalina confirmed the factory indicators. The car accelerates confidently, but in terms of elasticity, especially in fifth gear, it lags far behind its rivals. It's not the engine's fault, it's the fault of being too long. main couple. Its advantage is low fuel consumption in the extra-urban cycle. With an impromptu measurement in the speed range of 60–110 km/h average consumption amounted to 6.1 l/100 km. Noticeably less than that of the Fiesta (6.3), but more than that of the Getz, which is comparable in dynamics (5.8).

Saving fuel is useful, but not very exciting - you still want to drive fast. Moreover, according to different roads. The energy intensity of Kalina's suspensions is traditionally high - you can drive it very quickly on rough roads. But on smooth asphalt with relatively small defects, they all seep through perfectly through the “impenetrable” suspension. By geometric cross-country ability“Kalina” will “make” the vast majority of modern SUVs, but the worst thing was... the elegant gear shift mechanism. So protecting the engine compartment is a must.

Not everything is smooth with the brakes, although by domestic standards they work well: they stop a car from 100 km/h in less than 50 m. However, for some analogues it takes forty...

I want a holiday!

I want to take a break from the endless bustle, but it’s even better to combine business with pleasure. For example, in a car in which you can not only go on numerous errands, but also have fun. For this, a hundred-horsepower engine with adjustable intake and an excellent chassis on good tires. Of course, I want better seats, more comfortable suspensions, effective sound insulation, and all this is possible... in cars a couple of classes higher and three times more expensive.

Ford Fiesta has proven its convincing superiority in accelerating dynamics, brakes and handling in difficult turns. And its power steering turned out to be more accurate and clearer even at the limit of the car’s capabilities than the “electric” steering wheels of competitors. But, besides driving pleasure, there are other criteria.

A bright holiday is invariably followed by gray everyday life. In Fiesta they begin with back seat. Short, almost horizontal pillow, vertical back. It seems possible for a person of average build to sit without resting his head and knees, but only a medium-sized teenager can endure a long trip there. The Fiesta's ground clearance is formally quite good - 134 mm, but this is without any protection. There will be no more than 110–115 mm left with it - there should be a gap between the pallet and the steel sheet.

The groovy character of the car is not conducive to a relaxed driving style. Fiesta needs a good but winding road, preferably with a fresh and even surface. On ordinary Russian highways, the car even at moderate speeds copies the road profile and harshly handles the slightest irregularities. But the wheels almost always remain in close contact with the road, and the driver is fully confident that he will be able to avoid an unexpected obstacle.

It turns out that it is best to buy a Fiesta with a three-door body - this one is really created for two and a weekend. The five-door is just a forced compromise between cars for every day and for pleasure. Is this why the Ford Fusion sells much better here, not to mention the Focus...

With the mind, not with the heart

This is not the first time that Hyundai-Getz has participated in our tests. And the demands on an experienced fighter are increasing every time. Its shortcomings are known almost better than its advantages. Not great ground clearance– on this car only 116 mm. Yes, engine compartment securely covered with powerful steel “armor”, and fuel tank it is protected by both a metal and plastic screen, but the cross-country ability cannot be called acceptable: the Getz manages to scratch its belly even when entering a car wash.

But the floor in Goetz, on the contrary, is the highest. Because of this, the seating position for a taller than average driver is far from ideal, despite adjustments to the height and angle of the seat cushion. The back, with quite confident lateral support, is too flat and weakly supports the lower back. At the rear, the Getz is only slightly inferior in size to the Kalina, but all three seats have headrests, and parts of the backrest can be installed at different angles.

The new 16-valve 1.4 liter engine under the short hood of the Getz is noticeably superior to the previous 1.3 liter with three valves per cylinder and has a low noise level even at high speeds. It is there that his character shows its best side. However, in terms of elasticity, it was successfully ahead of Kalina. But this engine showed itself most clearly in fuel economy: outside the city, if the air conditioning is not turned on, the Getz easily manages 6 l/100 km.

Both in a parking lot with the engine running and on the road at any speed range, the Getz remains the quietest of the trio. It copes well with small bumps on the road and rough asphalt. But waves and large defects in the coating unsettle it for a long time. The lack of energy intensity of the suspensions greatly affects the control accuracy, and in tight corners leads to a sharp and deep skid. The electric power steering undoubtedly helps save fuel, and after the Kalina it is perceived as a tuning standard. However, having changed seats in the Fiesta, you understand that the “Korean” is far from ideal...

Emotions and arguments

They don't get worse - we get older. Quite recently, a domestic car in which everything works, nothing leaks, and in which during the test (and this is quite a serious load) nothing broke or even began to work worse, was already an event. And today we complain about bad smell plastics and tight handles... Alas, “Kalina” looks extremely pale compared to its classmates. Yes, in basic configuration it is noticeably cheaper, but how much will a car equipped with at least ABS, airbags, rear head restraints, and air conditioning cost?

Time does not stand still. “Fiesta” and “Getz” will be replaced by new models in a year or two. “Kalina” – no. Will we be able to see a stabilization system or adaptive headlights on it in the coming years, even in the most expensive, but factory-installed configuration? Or will the domestic car remain a designer car for lovers of all kinds of tuning? But the Kalina will make both a good SUV and a hot hatchback. Only they were needed yesterday...

For now, the VAZ-11193 hatchback is somewhat like a suit made by a provincial town tailor. In it you are the first guy in the village, but in the capital the policeman at the station will certainly ask for your registration. Province is not a dirty word, it’s the homeland...

Doping test

We write prices for cars in dollars - those stated by the manufacturer. It’s more clear this way, and payments for the supply of imported cars are made in dollars or euros. But the final buyer pays in rubles - this is the law.

The conversion rate at a car dealership may differ markedly from what is set by the Central Bank. So, official dealers Hyundai counts dollars at 27.9 rubles, automatically increasing the price of cars by 4.5%. So, in reality, the most affordable Getz on the day of the test cost $11,065, and the presented car cost $15,140. Ford dealers work at the official rate. Well, the price of Kalina is initially in rubles: 258 thousand. Count more carefully.

The Korean bestseller in the compact hatchback class has convincingly proven that comfort and convenience are eternal values. But if we talk about a gambling driver, Fiesta will be his choice. Who would you like to offer Kalina to?”
