It was on New Year's holidays, we drove into the dealer's salon just passing by, just to look, but in the end I left it on my own the next day new car! Because in the cabin we were offered a car of 2017, 1.6 liters, mechanics in the most luxurious configuration (rain and light sensors, parking sensors, rear view cameras, cool multimedia with navigation, climate control, electric heating of the front window and all other bells and whistles) with kit winter tires for only 680 thousand, while taking my Cobalt on a trade-in for 350 thousand (right here and now).

The trick was that the car was from a test drive, mileage 1002 km. To be honest, I didn't even think about it! Because I didn’t count on so many bells and whistles for that kind of money, and the car was already with numbers, TCP, that is, take it, register it with the traffic police in an hour - and drive!

So far, I have not regretted the purchase for a single day! The presence of rain and light sensors make trips just a holiday - I don’t think about such trifles, everything switches by itself, climate control regulates the temperature without my intervention, the ability to talk on the phone on speakerphone, without taking it out of the bag, through the multimedia system is also important for me, because by virtue of their work they call me endlessly. Acceleration dynamics (for which I love mechanics!) Allows the first to start from a traffic light easily and simply, and in general the car is quite nimble.

In winter, I was more than once happy with the presence of the anti-zanos system, since we live outside the city, the roads are poorly cleaned, we drive not on asphalt, but on snow-covered primers. The car holds the road securely, I feel calm behind the wheel even on a difficult road. I also like the small turning angle, which makes it easy to turn around even on a narrow road in one movement, my husband was even surprised at such unexpected agility with its length.

Taking into account my small height (164 cm), the height adjustment of the seat also came in very handy, I raised it as high as possible, I feel like a queen on the throne, since all the sedans were lower, I look down on them. Since I drive a child in the back seat, and the passenger front seat is rarely occupied (and pushed forward to the maximum), and my seat is also moved close, there is a lot of room for passengers in the back, even for long-legged ones.

I have a two-tone interior, a combination of gray fabric and brown leather, in the same color interior decoration doors, panels, looks nice and stylish (yes, I'm a woman, it's important to me!).

Over the past time, there have been no complaints about anything, that is, there were no problems (I think that during the test drive, all the problems that arose were eliminated at the car dealership, if any). Even the small toggle switch for turning on the heated seats seems to be created for thin female fingers! I find it unmistakably, there are no problems (maybe the Lada X-ray was created for women, everything is so sharpened for women's hands?).

For the first time, the car suited me completely and according to driving performance, and in terms of equipment, and cross-country ability, and safety, fully meeting all my expectations and requests. Yes, and for such money!

General impression

Our first family car was Nexia. When buying a choice between her, Kalina and 2115, but the choice was up to Nexia because of popular interest.

Now the times, the situation in the world have changed, progress has come to our VAZ and we have made our choice in its favor. Of course, you can argue endlessly whether this car is good or not, diligently look for pluses and minuses in it, but I think there will be no consensus.

Handling and general impressions

During this time, the car has never broken down, "surprises" with technical side did not have. I am pleased with the low fuel consumption, the presence of various useful and comfortable options (in the LUX Prestige configuration), which were not on previous cars.

I like the work of seat heating - it works gently, does not fry the fifth point, like eggs in a frying pan, but simply gently warms it to a pleasant temperature, then turns off and turns on again. And so constantly.

A separate plus is to put the stabilization system. I don’t know why they complain about it, everything works correctly for me (maybe the requests are small). In winter, in snowfall, I calmly overtook cars on the highway at a speed of 100 km per hour, overcoming the dividing snow strip, without fear of skidding or turning around. The car obeys the steering wheel and drives like it is on rails while the icon flashes on the display.

The same situation when accelerating slippery road(on ice, snow porridge). Pressing the pedal to the maximum, the car just picks up speed in a straight line. The car keeps the speed itself, no need to steer.

Very good aerodynamics. It is quite comfortable to move at speeds up to 140 km per hour.

But at higher speeds there are distinct noises, it seems that you are taking off, it becomes uncomfortable and tiring to ride. Windshield various bugs, dirt from neighboring cars does not get dirty much, but the rear window gets dirty at any speed and in any weather: in the rain - with mud, and in the dry - with dust.

In general, the handling is good. There are no super abilities here, but the handling is no worse than in the Lacetti, adjusted for height and ground clearance. It goes into turns very well. Among the shortcomings, I can only note blows to the steering wheel, which are felt when cornering in places with sharp irregularities - pits with sharp edges, plate joints and others.

Braking, dynamics - not bad. ABS and all electronic assistants allow you to get maximum efficiency from pressing the brake.

As for the comfort of movement on the highway with good coverage, at 110 km per hour, the car holds 3000 rpm. These are excellent indicators - the golden mean between comfort, speed and fuel consumption (about 8 liters). More economical mode - up to 90 km per hour (consumption is within 7 liters). The fastest comfortable speed is 140 km per hour.

Lighting

Like the head light, reversing lights. After the half-blind Nexia and the blind Lachcheti, I received my sight. The light is excellent, I don’t even want to install xenons, diodes.

An important advantage is the design

If we talk about design, then the model is quite bright and stylish, especially for the LADA brand. In comparison with previous models - a completely different level. Maybe I was lucky, but all the components of the interior and exterior fit smoothly and neatly.

There are no creaks either in thirty-degree heat or in ten-degree frost. There are no stocks either in the field or in the trunk.

The wiring is in its place, everything is neatly covered with electrical tape, all the clips are present. Under the hood, everything is like a foreign car - neat tubes, hoses, cable channels. Maybe I got excited, but just in case, I wrapped a couple of hoses with electrical tape, which I was worried about.

Compared to premium cars, X-Ray Lux is inferior in capacity and comfort. In the cabin, the rear is somewhat cramped, but in the trunk, without folding the seat, you can fit four wheels of 16 standard wheels. This is a good indicator for such a hatchback.

Briefly about suspension

The suspension is great for our roads, allowing you to swallow all the bumps in your native country. Easy off-road is overcome in quite comfortable conditions. The car travels at least 80 km per hour on broken asphalt with patching. At the same time, fuel consumption is small, and service in the official service is quite affordable.

Technical breakdowns and shortcomings

During this time, I had only one problem - a third-party alarm. There was an error on the cann line. Under warranty, I changed the module, filled in a new firmware. There have been no other technical problems so far. For 8000 km 200 gr. on the oil dipstick. Given my love of overtaking, I think that this is a normal indicator.

Improved management

The steering wheel is well made, it is comfortable to hold it. It has the right thickness and comfortable tides (there were none on the Opel). Bold plus - height adjustment, minus - no reach adjustment.

Compared to the Astra, the steering wheel is somewhat more comfortable in the X-Ray Prestige. On the last car, I always tried to raise it higher, but rested on the limiter. There is no such problem here - I adjusted the steering wheel to my height and needs. There are multi-wheel functions, but the tracks do not switch. It's upsetting, but not much. In general, manufacturers are a big plus for the performance of the steering wheel.

Now let's talk about the pedal assembly. Here everything is somewhat ambiguous. I like the soft grip. There are no complaints about the gas pedal, the reaction to pressing is quite fast. The brake pedal is ordinary, does not cause any impressions at all. Cons - the brake is a bit high - you need to get used to it. The dimensions of the pedal assembly for my size 44 are quite suitable.

The paddle shifters are well made. There are also no complaints about the climate control unit. The buttons on the air conditioner on the last car were somewhat more pleasant and softer in terms of tactile sensations. In general, for everything together, you can put a small minus, but mainly because of the clutch pedal.

Visibility, dimensions and light

Visibility vehicle on top, it is much better than in the Astra. In the past, there were problems with this car, I even nearly got into an accident. Mirrors are not bad, repeaters are built into X-Ray - this is a plus.

As for the dimensions of the car, my opinion is subjective. I don't like big cars and I don't like being crowded with other passengers, so I prefer small hatchbacks, which, alas, are not very popular in our market. Astra was great for me. Its width, poor visibility in combination with a small gap created significant restrictions when choosing a parking space. X-Ray in this regard is ideal for me.

The front is allocated exactly as much space as is needed for a comfortable stay for two people, and no more. As for me, there is enough space in the back, but it can be cramped for three passengers. For my requests X-Ray Prestige has ideal conditions.

As for the light, there are LED DRLs, they are bright, visible from afar. Rear optics - parity. For visibility, the size of the transport, solely in my subjective opinion, I put a big plus.

What irritates in dynamics and gearbox

Dynamics does not cause special impressions. According to the passport, in comparison with Astra, it is better by half a second, but I did not notice the difference. In the first gears the machine is peppy, but from the fourth gear it starts to deflate. The short-stroke lever of French mechanics is controversial. Short transmissions. In this regard, Astra was more convenient for me, now I have to get used to it. In this category I can not put a plus, but I will not put a minus either.

Weaknesses in handling and suspension

This is another point with which I can not decide until the end. Astra's handling was thoroughbred and the best among relatives. She had rigid suspension, it shook on bumps, a sharp reaction to the steering wheel and a very small clearance, because of which I got stuck in almost every snowdrift. It was not well suited for the countryside.

X-Ray is the complete opposite. It has an empty steering wheel, slightly sluggish reactions and large clearance 20 cm. The omnivorous suspension is well balanced, neither soft nor hard. On the track, the sensations are mediocre - the reaction to the steering wheel is sluggish, the car rolls during sudden changes. But it behaves well on a broken road - it swallows all the bumps perfectly, and it’s comfortable to drive. Feelings are contradictory - with average behavior on the track, the car behaves well on the roads.

Options and dopa

I took a car in Top performance with a Prestige package with manual transmission, the cost is about 690 thousand. The equipment has everything you need. I want to add leather braid on the steering wheel, armrest, headlight lenses.

Active safety is the norm. Passive safety in comparison with the Astra is somewhat behind. In stock (I list what was not in Astra in the Enjoy package) climate control, rear-view cameras, parking sensors, navigation, radio with bluetooth, LCD display, light and rain sensors, heated seats, cooled power windows, glove box.

The equipment is on top, security is somewhat worse compared to Astra, but overall not bad. You can add a plus.

Summing up

LADA X-Ray Prestige is a good vehicle. When compared with previous car- somewhat worse, but considering the class and cost, everything is at a fairly high level.

Advantages - excellent visibility, optimal dimensions (subjectively), good equipment, external data and clearance.

The disadvantages include mediocre behavior on the road, incomprehensible plastic, almost unreadable Logan dashboard with the absence of needle fuel temperature gauges, as well as individual economic miscalculations - the light control is located on the steering column switch, and the seat heating buttons are in the blind zone.

However, after a short period of driving, I can say with confidence, taking into account the class and cost of the vehicle, that the car was a success and justifies its cost one hundred percent.
