Audi tt red. The next generation Audi TT RS coupe and roadster. Suggested color options

Quick jump to sections

The Audi TT RS is a model that carries the branded genes of its automaker, most accurately reflecting the approach and philosophy of its company in the automotive industry. Of course, this Audi TT RS cannot be called mass, nevertheless, the interest that experts and “lovers of getting through” show to it not just with the breeze, but at lightning speed, has long acquired the scale of an epidemic.

Audi TT RS does the first hundred kilometers an hour in 3.7 seconds, if we talk about how fast it goes new Audi TT RS. If we consider the question of what the TT RS Audi looks like, then one thing can be said: restrained. He does not scream about his charge, he calmly declares this with huge air intakes on the front bumper, wheels of unimaginable diameter, a rear wing on the trunk, carbon body elements and a host of other characteristic nuances.

So that others have no doubts about what exactly is in front of them, in addition to body and aerodynamic elements, Audi provided the coupe with visual cues in the form of visual cues scattered around the body in the form of TT RS Audi inscriptions.

On the race track

During the test drive, the Audi TT RS managed to visit several of its intended habitats. Which of them can and should be considered his natural element? Of course, the racing track. A challenging track and this technically incredibly advanced car are like made for each other.

The new TT RS Audi got a really serious engine. Despite the rather microscopic volume for sports car, only 2.5 liters, this is the legendary five-cylinder gasoline engine from Audi, now delivering 400 hp. and 480 Nm, available in the range of 1800 - 6000 rpm, that is, almost always.

Video review TT RS Audi

The engine, along with an advanced chassis, intelligent all-wheel drive and a finely tuned transmission, are the highlights of the new Audi TT RS. In different versions, this motor became seven years in a row the best engine year in category 2 - 2.5 liters.

Most of the engine is made from aluminum and magnesium, resulting in a weight reduction of more than 20 kg compared to the previous version of this motor. It would seem that all this power will lead to the fact that in the end the car will start to fly off the track in every turn. But nevertheless, he holds on to the asphalt of the track with all four wheels. The answer to the question "how does he do it?" lies in the Quattro transmission.

In the TT RS Audi, perhaps like no other car from Ingolstadt, all-wheel drive is brought to perfection. Many sensors continuously transmit information about speed, behavior of the wheels, body, steering and other and other parameters to the super brain of the new coupe. He, in turn, instantly change the stiffness of the shock absorbers and the balance of thrust between the axles. It even briefly slows down the necessary wheels for better passing turns. This work is done every second while the car is in motion.

In the entire history of the penultimate modification of the TT RS Audi, only seven thousand cars were sold. That's not a lot. Only truly sophisticated people can entrust themselves to this Audi TT RS, which turns very beautifully and pleasantly. The TT RS ceramic brakes, which are also 14kg lighter than conventional brakes, deliver amazing performance. And about the sound in Audi they say that they made the most delicious-sounding five-cylinder engine in the world. In addition, if it seems insufficient to someone what he hears behind him, then in this case there is a special button near the gear lever that activates a sports exhaust that can cause the envy of others.

Exterior and interior

With all its appearance and character, the new TT RS Audi, as it were, declares: I am the same as they are, real sports cars, but only much cheaper. Plus it has a trunk. Even in the four-seater version, it has 305 liters of free space, slightly less than a typical member of the family golf class.

Since it will never occur to anyone to put on backseat TT RS Audi of living people, you can safely recline the back of the rear sofa and get an impressive 712 liters that can accommodate everything that people usually carry in a large family crossover. It is unlikely that in the world of sports coupes you can find something similar.

On normal roads

How comfortable does this sports car feel among the uninteresting and slow bums that inhabit the public roads? It is not easy to drive the TT RS Audi in the city, it is too reckless. The roar of the engine is good on the track, but in the conditions of the city it only significantly complicates the perception of any other sounds. Besides adaptive suspension The Audi TT RS is hardly comfortable, and driving through a speed bump turns into a real adventure for the driver's spine. Few will be able to use this sports car in the city every day.

A compromise that allows the driver to enjoy the finely tuned chassis and superb engine of the new Audi TT RS can be a scenic mountain road, provided it is relatively deserted. There is a sharp steering wheel, four-wheel drive and powerful motor will allow you to truly enjoy driving on a winding track. On it, the Audi TT RS literally pulls itself into a turn. Four-wheel drive does not allow the driver to hooligan, but at the same time leaving the opportunity for gambling taxiing. In such road conditions, the maximum speed is not so important, but the power, and most importantly, the torque, for the transfer of which one of the best boxes gears - 7-speed and very agile Stronic.

For the distribution of torque along the axes, one of the the best systems Quattro all-wheel drive from Audi. As a result, we get almost limitless possibilities in terms of dynamics, not only on the approach to the turn, but also in the turn itself and at the exit. At the same time, the driver has absolute control over the car. It's not just a pleasant feeling, it's an exhilarating, almost exciting feeling of control. The only limitation that will have to be faced in these conditions is the instinct of self-preservation and the capabilities of the vestibular apparatus, because the technical abilities of the Audi TT RS definitely exceed the physical capabilities of a person.

What else do you like about the Audi TT RS? Having reached almost the top of his technical development it sort of takes it one step further, introducing a roadster version that has all the virtues of a coupe and a soft top, which, as it turns out, can be a serious problem. The fact is that the retractable roof eats up almost the entire trunk space, there is hardly enough free space in it for one sports bag. However, you don't have to worry about this Russian market it will not be presented.

Price TT RS Audi

The Russian price tag of the TT RS Audi starts at 4,500 thousand rubles. This is for the original model. What the cost of a sports coupe enriched with various options, dealers have not yet disclosed this figure. Of course, among the products of the big German three, you can find a car that is bigger, more practical and more accessible, but in terms of charisma, any of them will definitely be inferior to the small TT RS Audi.

Specifications TT RS Audi 2017:

  • Engine: five cylinders, displacement 2.5 liters, turbocharged;
  • Power: 400 hp;
  • Torque: 480 Nm;
  • Length: 4197 mm;
  • Width: 1843 mm;
  • Height: 1343 mm;
  • Wheelbase: 2466 mm;
  • Clearance: 12 cm;
  • Curb weight: 1,450 kg.

I rush along the blocked serpentine, stop - and I can’t believe my eyes: smoke is pouring from the front pads! Why would? The brakes are here wow! The rear brake discs are larger than the front ones on Kalina, and the front ones are completely hefty “pancakes”. But even 370 mm cast iron discs with eight-piston calipers are not enough for such an aggressive ride - overheating! I give up the steering wheel to a colleague, who first cools the mechanisms in a calm mode, and only then rushes to attack the turns.

In the studs, the coupe rests on the front axle, but under the traction, the Haldex clutch disks of the fifth generation are compressed under a pressure of 40 bar - and in the middle of the turn, the “ereska” begins to turn. In running arcs, understeer is felt much more strongly. On a narrow road, you have to start the maneuver early in order to wait out the drift phase. I wince... but at the end of the straight section I suddenly glance at the speedometer: I'm driving at a speed of 195 km/h!

So, very fast fast car. It just allows you to race with a minimum of effort, and this apparent lightness is misleading. The Porsche Cayman S will probably fly even faster here, but in this mode, not every driver will retain control of a central engine car with rear wheel drive. The Audi TT RS will lose to him in corners due to a different weight distribution and steered wheels loaded with traction, but it will forgive much more mistakes.

Catapulting from place to infinity on an "eresk" is easier than making tea. Depress both pedals, then release the brake...

A seven-speed robot with two clutches closes an odd clutch, after a moment it jumps to the second - and you gain the first hundred in 3.7 seconds. Three and seven tenths, Carl! Fifteen years ago, this result was unattainable even for a Porsche 911 Turbo S, and now any blonde in a cute Audi will perform this trick. And not everyone will understand why it was darned so unceremoniously: the most evil version outwardly differs from the usual TT only in other bumpers, a fixed wing and oval exhaust pipes. Yes, with big wheels: the minimum option for the winter is 225/40 R19, and the standard summer size is 255/30 R20. Tires are supplied by Pirelli - road P Zero or more evil, track version P Zero Corsa.

Smaller wheels simply won't fit the brakes. An alternative to the already mentioned cast-iron discs that give up too soon are the optional carbon-ceramic ones. They provide better responsiveness to the first press, more precise dosage of force - and, of course, much more enduring than standard ones. Heat is dissipated more efficiently, and this also benefits the tires: with standard brakes, after active driving, the pressure in the front wheels jumped from the recommended 2.4 to 3.3 atm, and the temperature - up to one hundred degrees!

The convertible, curiously, loads the front axle less, although it is heavier than the coupe: 1530 against 1440 kg.

New body built on the Audi Space Frame concept. The floor and front are made of hot stamped steel, the power structure and body panels are aluminum. The roadster has a reinforced windshield frame (aluminum profiles are duplicated with steel ones), diagonal struts appeared at the rear, and an additional partition made of box-shaped profiles between the passenger compartment and the trunk.

The aluminum engine in the coupe and roadster is the same - an evolution of the famous five-cylinder 2.5 TFSI engine, which was named the best engine of the year in its class seven times. With the preserved working volume of 2480 cm³, it develops 400 hp. and 480 Nm, while the previous TT RS output was 340 forces and 450 Nm. The increase was given by a new turbocharger with an overpressure of 1.35 atm (it was 1.2 atm), a more efficient intercooler and combined injection. At the same time, the motor felt lighter by 26 kg, and together with other measures to reduce weight, this provided a specific power of 3.6 kg / hp. for coupe and 3.8 kg/hp for a convertible. dynamics open machine a little worse: acceleration to a hundred lasts two tenths longer - but it is controlled more interesting!

Thanks to a different weight distribution and chassis tuning, the roadster plows less in corners and takes maneuvers more quickly. It is generally accepted that an all-metal body is stiffer than an open body, and this is true - however, it is not only the ability to resist twisting that matters, but also how it is taken into account when sizing the suspension. The TT RS roadster, if not faster than a coupe on the circuit, is certainly more pleasant to drive.

And if you fold the roof, you will get all the pleasures at once. You can bathe in sun, wind and sound: the unique sound of the five cylinders, which work in a 1-2-4-5-3 sequence, can be enhanced by opening the flaps in the mufflers by pressing a button on the center tunnel. And do not regret that the roadster has only two seats - the rear sofa of the coupe is absolutely nominal, even teenagers cannot fit here.

So my choice is an Audi TT RS roadster with optional carbon-ceramic brakes and active suspension, which in Comfort mode really provides an acceptable ride, and in Sport mode it becomes more collected. The usual, non-adaptive chassis gives the Ereska even more interesting handling, but even on Spanish roads it shakes the soul.

But what's the point of dreaming? . At the beginning of 2017, only the coupe will appear, and it is not known at what price. But the fate of the car will depend on the price.

Will Audi go for dumping for the sake of a fashion model, as competitors did? So, a 370-horsepower coupe in Russia is sold for 3.65 million rubles - half a million cheaper if you count the German price tag. Porsche Cayman S with a capacity of 350 forces in Germany costs 4.68 million in terms of rubles, and in our country its price is a third of a million lower.

At home Audi coupe TT RS will cost 66,400 euros, which is 4.85 million rubles at the current exchange rate! If the Russian office can “move” up to four million, then I would be more willing to recommend this car to a wider range of customers than the M2 or Cayman: Audi has an all-wheel drive transmission and a combination of crazy dynamics with complaisant behavior.

And the brakes ... In the city, basic cast-iron ones are enough, and for trips to the track, you just need to change the pads.

Compact coupe will overtake a supercar from the 90s Will not give sharp driving emotions

The Audi TT RS debuted at the annual Beijing International Auto Show in 2016. The novelty is a heated version of the third generation TT. It is not difficult to distinguish it from the civilian version. At sports model 19 inch wheel disks with unique design, side mirrors carbon fiber, a small rear wing on the trunk lid, a cabin with carbon and metal inserts, a steering wheel with a truncated rim and, of course, a more aggressive body kit. A large radiator grille consisting of many large hexagonal cells catches the eye. On it is a small nameplate, indicating a sports pedigree. Down, around the edges front bumper there are two predatory air intakes. They are also covered with a plastic mesh and give the car a swift appearance. In general, the design of the novelty perfectly emphasizes its inner content.

Audi TT RS dimensions

The Audi TT RS is available in coupe and roadster body styles. In the first version, dimensions new items are: length 4191 mm, width 1832 mm, height 1344 mm, wheelbase 2505 mm, and the ground clearance will be 120 millimeters, which is 10 mm lower than the standard version. This clearance is characteristic of vehicles designed for extreme driving. They hold the road well, do not lose stability on high speeds, and most importantly, less prone to overturning due to the low center of gravity.

Audi TT RS has a good trunk for a sports car. In the coupe, with the backs of the second row of seats raised, 305 liters of free space remain behind. Thanks to this volume, the car will perfectly cope with the daily tasks of a city dweller. If, by a whim of fate, the owner has to take on board a larger cargo, he can always fold the backrests back row and release up to 712 liters.

Audi TT RS engine and transmission

Audi TT RS is equipped with one power unit, seven-speed robotic box gears with two clutches and a proprietary all-wheel drive system. From now on mechanical box gear is not available for this model. Although the manufacturer no longer produces alternatives transmissions, the presented units are quite versatile and able to satisfy most of the requests of a potential buyer.

The engine of the Audi TT RS is a five-cylinder in-line turbocharged petrol power unit volume of 2480 cubic centimeters. He received a new aluminum block, which reduced the weight by 10 kilograms. Thanks to this innovation, an innovative valve timing mechanism, direct fuel injection and a turbocharger, engineers managed to squeeze 400 Horse power in the range from 5850 to 7000 rpm and 480 Nm of torque from 1700 to 5850 rpm crankshaft in a minute. With such a herd under the hood, the coupe takes off from zero to hundreds in 3.7 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited at around 250 kilometers per hour. Despite the high powerful and amazing dynamics, the car is quite economical. The fuel consumption of the Audi TT RS will be 11.3 liters of gasoline per hundred kilometers at an urban pace with frequent acceleration and braking, 6.4 liters during a measured trip on the highway and 8.2 liters of fuel per hundred in a combined driving cycle.

Outcome

The Audi TT RS keeps up with the times. She has an aggressive and impetuous design, which is the best way to emphasize the character and status of its owner in society. Such a car will never dissolve in the gray everyday flow and will always be in the spotlight. Salon is a kingdom quality materials finishes, verified ergonomics and comfort. Despite the sporty nature of the model, even a long trip can not bring unnecessary inconvenience. The manufacturer is well aware that, first of all, the car should give driving pleasure. That is why, under the hood of the car there is a powerful and modern power unit, which is an alloy innovative technologies and legendary German quality. Audi TT RS will last for many kilometers and will give you unforgettable emotions from the trip.

Video

In 2016, at the Beijing Motor Show, Audi presented a new development from the quattro GmbH division - a new Audi generation TT RS 2018-2019. The new 8S body was brought to the Beijing exhibition in coupe and convertible versions with a soft roof. Let's understand all the innovations of the second generation.

Design

You can discuss the visual part from two sides: talk about the differences from, or discuss the differences from the civilian model in . There are no differences in body shape from its predecessor, but a completely different design is created in detail, so it is not difficult to identify the car.

In front, the charged version immediately gives itself away with another aggressive bumper with large air intakes and a chrome trim on the radiator grille with “quattro” stamping. On the side, you can highlight the silver rear-view mirrors and 19-inch stunning wheels.

The stern of the coupe and roadster is distinguished by the absence of a retractable spoiler, they put the usual one. The bumper is no different, but in its lower part appeared under the chrome insert 2 oval pipes of the exhaust system. The diffuser is also an attractive element.

Let's deal with the new dimensions of the TT RS:

  • length - 4191 mm;
  • width - 1832 mm;
  • height - 1344 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2505 mm;
  • ground clearance- 120 mm.

The roadster is 2 mm higher, in other planes everything is the same.

Suggested color options:

  • grey;
  • yellow;
  • red metallic;
  • metallic silver;
  • white metallic;
  • black metallic;
  • gray pearl;
  • blue crystal;
  • black crystal.

Salon

Having bought a new sports car from ordinary TTs in the cabin, you will only differ in seats and steering wheel. From previous generation there is nothing left, everything is recycled. You will be on leather bucket seats with active lateral support, electric adjustment and glossy plastic lining on the sides. There are two seats in the back without retention elements and in general there is not much space there.

The interior is full of Fine Nappa leather with diamond stitching, Alcantara and rare carbon inserts. The beveled steering 3-spoke steering wheel received more than 15 buttons on 2 chrome-plated spokes.

The dashboard of the Audi TT RS is represented by the MMI Radio multimedia system display. It displays information about the car, including the current speed, and it also displays navigation data, audio systems, etc. There is no familiar display on the center console.

The minimalism of the center console is surprising, because it is represented by several buttons and air deflectors. The amazing part is the vents themselves, there's a shared climate control, and each of the three vents has a small washer in the center that you can adjust. The left controls the tempo, the central temperature, the right controls the direction.

The gradually rising tunnel received Aluminum Race decorative inserts, which can be optionally replaced with carbon. The gearbox selector, compared with its predecessor, is somewhat closer to the dashboard. Behind the selector is a multimedia puck with additional buttons and joysticks. Parking brake locked with a button.

The trunk of the TT RS 2018-2019 of 302 liters is acceptable for bags with things, it makes no sense to carry something else in a sports car. Even the ability to fold down the seats and get 712 liters is amazing. What for? The roadster will have 280 liters and the rear seats do not recline.

Specifications

The novelty is equipped with a new 2.5-liter TFSI engine. This is a 5-cylinder turbo unit with direct injection fuel. The return was 400 horsepower at 5850 rpm and 480 H * m of torque at 1700 rpm - almost from idle.

A pair is a 7-speed robotic S-Tronic with multiple clutches. The moment is distributed along the axes in different proportions, regulated by an all-wheel drive system with a Haldex clutch.

Now for the dynamics. The Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and electronically limits the top speed to 250 km/h. The roadster, due to the weight of 90 kg more and the worst aerodynamics, gains a hundred square meters in 3.9 seconds, the maximum speed is also limited. When the restriction is removed, 280 km / h is reached. Passport consumption figures look false - 11 liters of AI-98 in the city and 8 on the highway, perhaps not using the Audi TT RS (8S) as a sports car, driving as calmly as possible, such figures are achieved, but we are not sure.

The platform implies a system on the front axle and a multi-link scheme at the rear, adaptive shock absorbers are located in a circle. Handling is simply indescribable, due to the layout, shock absorbers and electronic assistants, the car is screwed into turns without demolition of the rear axle.

The braking system does the job, with 370mm and 310mm discs front and rear respectively with single-piston calipers stopping well. Ventilation is present only at the front, which is a little disappointing. Optionally, you can put more efficient ceramics.

Price

Russian buyers are offered only a coupe version with a minimum base price tag of 4,962,000 rubles. For a minimal cost, the owner will receive climate control, a tire pressure sensor, 19-inch wheels, a combined interior trim, 8 Audi sound system speakers, LED optics, rain and light sensors, TT RS power seats, lane control and a parking assistant function.

The German manufacturer offers an extensive list of options:

  • matrix optics - 64,000 rubles;
  • leather seat upholstery - 62,000 rubles;
  • carbon inserts - 59,000 rubles;
  • carbon casing of the internal combustion engine - 42,000 rubles;
  • mirror color in body color - 7,000 rubles;
  • carbon mirrors - 98,000 rubles;
  • tinted rear windows - 29,000 rubles;
  • electrically adjustable and heated mirrors - 14,000 rubles;
  • MMI Navigation plus - 129,000 rubles;
  • smartphone interface - 24,000 rubles;
  • Bang & Olufsen audio system - 59,000 rubles;
  • rear view camera - 38,000 rubles;
  • skid prevention function - 5,000 rubles;
  • cruise control - 21,000 rubles;
  • RS sport plus suspension - 63,000 rubles;
  • ceramic brakes - 326,000 rubles;
  • sports exhaust - 70,000 rubles;
  • the color of the calipers in red - 23,000 rubles;
  • removal of the maximum speed limit - 105,000 rubles.

This is not the whole list, they even offer bags and flashlights, pencils. The final cost, with all the options, easily exceeds 6 million rubles.

As a result, according to the Audi TT RS 2018-2019, I would like to say that it has become much better than its predecessor. This is noticeable in the design of the exterior and interior, also noticeably improved specifications. Is it worth buying for yourself? Most likely not, he can easily cope with attracting glances and giving back emotions civilian version, if it is not enough, that is . This car is exclusively for aggressive sports driving, for nothing else.

Video

Oh, it’s completely cold, and I want to give her at least a little warmth from my fingers, because the countdown, according to the laws of the genre, is a little delayed. Here, finally: "Three, two, one ...". The awakened in-line 400-horsepower "five" roars with a half-second delay, adding a couple of juicy low-frequency shots to the exhaust tract, and quickly calms down, moving on to a disgruntled bay.

At least, in the near future only those who ordered the Audi TT RS in the spring will hear her voice. The car is so limited that the Russian quotas were scattered instantly. And at outbids, of course, you can’t get such a sports car.

The TT got the RS version only in the second generation of the 2009 model, and the current third is the second for the RS. Before the advent of the MQB architecture, all Eresques were strikingly different from stock Audis, primarily in terms of technology. To put it bluntly, interchangeable parts could be counted almost on the fingers. Any RS was the personification of almost space technology.

TT or RS?

Now it seems to me that "modularity" has destroyed everything special and individual, and above all - appearance. MIAS-2014 is still fresh in my memory, when a pair of Audi TTs on the podium caused a flurry of emotions with their appearance. But three years later, they are almost the same for me.

Of course, the black grille with TT RS badges and sweeping quattro lettering underneath is incredibly cool, the huge air intakes at the edges of the front bumper are simply gorgeous in their adjusted aggressiveness, and the squinting of the LED headlights is solid and expensive.

Expensive and authentic carbon exterior mirror housings, a 305-liter trunk lid spoiler, and finally, surround with 3D glow rear lights and muffler ends. Until you get behind the wheel, until you press the gas, everything you see seems like a body kit and make-up, and the face of a really formidable and completely unique in all respects RS6 from the beginning of the 2000s comes to mind ...

But let's not rush to conclusions, but take a closer look at the details. In what other car do you see truly gigantic aluminum front wheel hubs and match them with huge perforated brake discs that can be replaced with ceramic ones. Oh, it looks like something...

So there is no need to grieve about the “under-rotation” of the exterior, besides, the interior of the new TT RS is almost the same as that of the regular TT. The lack of a center console as such and head multimedia for this car, in my opinion, is only a plus. All climate control is concentrated in the central parts of the deflectors: three central and two at the edges. For the rest, there is an MMI joystick with a “handwritten” panel and buttons on a special “Aeres” steering wheel. Voila, drive, sir!

Yes, I'm comfortable in the RS-embossed leather seat, spreading the side bolsters a little - what a nice feature - and for the second time this month I'm blaming the Audi tanners about the lack of perforations in the seats. Okay, now minus is overboard, but what will happen in the summer? Back in soap or plus 15 in the cabin?

I admit that somewhere on the track this question will worry me last. The lap time is much more important, and in the options on-board computer I find its commit menu. Sweeping graphic tidy - a virtual cockpit - displays, if necessary, the level of overloads, the degree of use of power and torque, and much more useful. Or is the everyday use of the TT RS not even theoretical?

Still not a city...

Even as provided, the only question is where. Why, then, the Start / Stop system, which saves fuel, Drive Mode with a button on the steering wheel and many manual and preset modes, including suspension stiffness, a Wi-Fi module and pre-installed news and weather bookmarks, communication with a smartphone and the most convenient navigation with graphics "Torch" mode?

Of course, for the city, and, at first glance, even for such as Moscow. Slightly pressing the accelerator, I roll myself with the allowed 80 km / h, or even quieter, and look not so much at the cameras poked every kilometer, but at the long-term fuel consumption indicator reset before leaving.

Wheelbase

Some 15 minutes, and the gluttony indicator drops below ten! Seemingly fantastic, such a small figure with huge power and a torque of 480 Nm at 1,700-5,850 rpm turns out to be quite real. There is practically nowhere to gain these momentum, even the minimum necessary for a shot. As if realizing this, the TT RS does not seek to punish me for burning wasted gasoline. Fortunately, in addition to AI-98, you can also fill in the 95th.

Feature supercharged engine capacity of 2480 cc. see, judging by the documentation, this is not limited. If in the past generation he had a cast-iron cylinder block, then the current one has acquired aluminum. The crankcase also became light-alloy magnesium, the crankshaft was lightened, the power system received combined injection, and the boost pressure increased to 1.35 bar.

Not having time to realize where I can apply and test all this, I get a crushing blow to the fifth point. It seems that the speed in front of the traffic light is quite small, only the unnoticed "speed bump" for a moment turned the sports coupe into a stool for torture. Tires 245/35 R19 transmit any irregularities over 3-5 cm into the cabin, but if it were only in the wheels ...

The TT RS's own suspension design is not allowed. As a basis, they took a regular one from a TT with a front MacPherson strut and a rear multi-link. Changed only the diameters of the stabilizers roll stability, reinforced springs and shock absorbers, which in the test version also with electronic damping. Only now it does not save in our conditions. The chassis is sharpened for perfect asphalt, and in the absence of such, your soft spot should be iron, or even better, plump.

Just from the mere realization that you have a full-fledged sports car in your hands, you can put up with such costs, and at a speed of 5 km / h, almost any Audi obstacle will crawl over without consequences. The main thing is not to hook it with a bumper: the ground clearance is quite small. But the whole buzz from the management of the RS, of course, is different. The only trouble is that for this car, any speeds allowed for us are included in the concept of “vomiting” ...

Naturally, there are autodromes where you can get through, as long as we have not yet dreamed of unlimited autobahns. You can spit on the cameras: the amount of fines for half an hour of pleasure will hardly exceed 4,000 rubles paid for a 15-minute race at the same Moscow Raceway, but you can trick ...

aborted flight

In addition to a maximum speed of 250 km/h, and with a surcharge for removing the limiter - and 280 km/h, a little less than one and a half ton TT RS is distinguished by heavy dynamics of 3.7 s to hundreds. It is faster than all German classmates in terms of dimensions and curb weight.

So, no traffic rules will prevent you from gaining 60, 80 or 100 km per hour in a much shorter time than all other cars. With a slight trembling in my heart, I wait for the "green" and quickly push the accelerator to the stop. A hail of low-frequency sounds crashes into the surrounding area, and the RS takes off.

The steering wheel, sheathed in suede, does not try to escape from the hands: both axles came into play, the virtual tachometer needle jumped to 6 thousand, and all I had to do was count “one, two, three ...”. And cut the fun short with eight-piston brake calipers. To brighten up the annoyance, I press the button for the sporty sound of the exhaust and, rumbling, I drag myself in the general stream. Though so, but the process reminded me of something that is not talked about in a decent male company.

Along the way, I'm trying to realize how many gears the 7-speed "robot" DQ500 with two clutches managed to flip over in a few seconds ... Two, three, four? It is simply impossible to keep track of this with an emergency set of speed. How do HRs write there: “Work in multitasking conditions”? Yeah, they just don't know what it really is.

Brutal motor, super-fast box… Lack of authenticity in appearance and interior? I no longer remember this. Who cares if the TT RS can accelerate like that. But there are feelings of understatement and incompleteness, with which it will be dreary and insipid to live.

Price of freedom

Almost every driver has his own, hidden and studied to the cracks, a section of asphalt several kilometers long, where you can afford the forbidden fruit of speed and tough maneuvers. Mine is half an hour from Moscow. No, already in 20 minutes ... In the case of the TT RS, I was wrong by a third.

There is no longer any need for a deliberate “push-button” exhaust sound: the set Sport mode, which immediately added a thousand on the tachometer and squandered the box “down”, provides for the opening of the dampers in the muffler and a rare thump in the city on the highway turns into a cannonade. And without that rigid suspension turns the coupe into a monolithic slab without a swing shadow, rapidly sliding along the highway.

Any overtaking or advance is simply imperceptible - just add a little gas. Any rebuilding is as if on command from your own brain, which has calculated the trajectory and the list of actions for its implementation. The “double-turn”, extremely “short” steering wheel feels the slightest tension in the fingers. Just move your little finger!

In fast, tight corners, you can get by with gas, twisting the car with much more effect. It would seem that the transverse arrangement of the engine and the absence of a Torsen differential are not the best way for an all-wheel drive sports car. But not in our case.

Audi TT RS Coupe

Brief specifications:

Dimensions (L × W × H): 4,191 x 1,832 x 1,344 Power: 400 hp Transmission: 7-speed, robotic, S tronic Top speed: 250 (280) km/h Acceleration to 100 km/h: 3.7 s Average consumption fuel per 100 km: 8.2 l

The electronic-hydraulic clutch (forget about Haldex) of the fifth generation, coupled with ESP, works wonders. Missing the TT RS at that speed of processing information and making decisions about braking one or more wheels, transferring torque between axles, reducing or adding power is almost impossible. Unless you let go of the steering wheel and close your eyes.

The sea, just an ocean of pleasure from sensations. Even more of them would be in the summer blue sky and in the version of the roadster. But where are we all this? Pay a draconian tax for a car that, whatever one may say, is not included in the category of image supercars, appearing on the roads on holidays of body and soul? However, opinions on this subject may be very different ...

You will love the Audi TT RS Coupe if:

  • Your priorities are dynamics and controllability;
  • You have built an autobahn from home to work;
  • You treat the rest of the German sports cars with contempt.

You won't like the Audi TT RS Coupe if:

  • You need a cool image;
  • You are not ready for hard overloads;
  • You don't want to sponsor the treasury.
