Whose car production is Datsun? Datsun history of the car brand. Datsun whose car production. What engines are installed on Datsun on-Do and mi-Do

The Datsun on-DO car (correctly spelled this way, and not “un-DO”, “on-DU” or “on-DA”) has a sedan body. Due to its comfort and practicality, Datsun on-DO performs well not only in urban environments, but also beyond. The model firmly established itself in the domestic automobile market in 2015.

As the review shows, the advantages of the sedan are suitable for energetic people with great ambitions.

Where is the sedan assembled?

Datsun on-DO is assembled on an assembly line in Togliatti, and the country of origin is, accordingly, Russia. To develop the model, a separate plant was allocated on the territory of the VAZ factory premises. For the production of Datsun on-DO we use the latest complexes welding coupled with robotic welding lines from Kuka. The plant has a robotic painting complex from Eisenmann.

The car is assembled by the hands of our citizens. The plant operates a quality system program of the largest Renault-Nissan alliance and it is inappropriate to talk about hack work. The assembled Datsun on-DO is sent to the finished product site, where more than twenty quality control posts pass. Only after all checks does the manufacturer deliver the car for sale. The plant's employees are seriously motivated to avoid defects in production.

The Japanese have no complaints about the assembly.

Dimensions

According to the description, the length of the Datsun on-DO body is 4337 mm, width - 1700 mm, and height - 1500 mm. Wheelbase 2476 mm is compensated by the reserve of internal space. The car has a fairly high ground clearance of 174 mm. This clearance will not allow you to skid in deep snow. The curb weight of the vehicle is 1160 kg. The luggage compartment allows you to freely transport food and all kinds of small items. The compartment volume is 530 liters.

Have you long dreamed of replacing your old but beloved Lada with something newer? But your budget doesn’t allow you to dramatically change car brands? Then we bring to your attention the improved Japanese-style Lada.

What does "Japanese style" mean?

Less than half a century passed when the event that everyone had been waiting for for so long happened, the revival of the Datsun brand. I would like to note: the display of this model took place in Moscow.

At this meeting, Japanese manufacturers showed their vision of the Datsun car. Finally, everyone has reached the moment when foreign car manufacturers began to take ideas from the Russian automobile industry.

Not the other way around. Few know. that this car, which was made in Japan, is an improved model of our compatriot Lada Kalina.

Appearance: for or against

Japanese manufacturers faced a difficult task: to make new brand car as different as possible from the Lada Kalina. And they partially coped with this task.

If the appearance of the Lada, familiar to our eyes, as if it came from the 90s, brings us the spirit of the past and Soviet times, then the Japanese car tells us: “I am faceted gem, look at my chiseled edges.”

Front view new car is not very different from the appearance of the already known Lada Kalina, so the question of one hundred percent similarity with the Lada does not make sense. The Japanese Mi-Do has a neat and chiseled front bumper.

The car also has modern optics unique shape, which made it possible to create an image Japanese car completed. But if you don’t nitpick about the little things, then outwardly the two main cars of the Russian and Japanese auto industry are not much different.

Except that the wheel frames of the Mi-Do are slightly enlarged and the rear-view mirrors are slightly changed. This is where the differences visible to the naked eye end.

Dimensions

  • acceleration to 100 km/h;
  • front-wheel drive;
  • tank volume: 50 l.

Datsun mi-Do did not become the most modern car, but his contribution to the development of both the Russian and Japanese automobile industries is obvious.

Japanese manufacturers, as always, acted wisely - they did not make fundamental changes to the technology, focusing instead on small improvements to achieve even greater perfection.

Therefore, we can expect that other models will be greeted even more cordially.

Today the Russian page of the Datsun website starts working. It has started a countdown until the official launch of the new model. The site will allow visitors to subscribe to the latest brand news. A live broadcast of the presentation on April 4 will also be available for viewing.

About the Datsun brand

In March 2012, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced the return of the Datsun brand, the company's third global brand along with Nissan and Infiniti. The Datsun brand will offer modern, reliable and affordable products to optimistic, active buyers in growing markets. Datsun builds on eight decades of Japanese automotive experience and is an important part of Nissan's DNA. The start of sales of Datsun cars in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa is scheduled for 2014.

Datsun brand history

The roots of the Datsun brand go deep into history.

The first car, called the DAT-GO (“DAT Car”), appeared in 1914. DAT is an acronym consisting of the initials of the businessmen who financed the creation of this car - Den (Den), Aoyama (Aoyama) and Takeuchi (Takeuchi). In addition, this abbreviation was consonant with the Japanese word for “alive, mobile.” In campaigns to promote the brand on the market at the beginning of its history, this acronym also stood for Durable, Attractive and Trustworthy.

Nissan

In 1933, the business passed into the hands of Nissan founder Yoshisuke Aikawa, who proposed the concept of “a car for everyone.” Introduced in the early 1930s, lightweight, economical and maneuverable cars aimed at the younger generation of Japanese residents were called Datson (son of DAT). This name was subsequently changed to Datsun. The development of models taking into account the needs of local markets and their mass production turned the dream of the brand founder into reality.

A revived Japanese brand car company Datsun, the rights to which belong to Nissan, has now become oriented towards the production of affordable cars. The company's debut was the new affordable Datsun on-DO sedan, designed specifically for Russian consumers.

The new product is designed on the platform, but the design was carried out by Nissan specialists. They decided to borrow the body from a Russian car. Power units were also borrowed, which, for natural reasons, were modified. The entire Datsun model range.

Based on the company’s plans, they planned to create a network for vehicle sales car showrooms, and the machines will be able to be serviced in technical centers Nissan. Datsun on-DO can be classified as a niche of economy class cars. Based on his position, he is able to displace Russian and Chinese manufacturers in this category, and even used cars purchased in European countries.

It is not clear why the Russian auto giant decided to produce direct competitor Granta and Kalina during a sales decline own cars. Most likely, AvtoVAZ’s behavior makes sense, and even a slight decrease in profits from the sale of its cars can be compensated in another way.

History of creation

This is not the first time the Japanese company Nissan has taken a closer look at the huge Russian automotive market. It was precisely for this direction that we decided to revive trademark Datsun. But then a logical question arises: why? This decision can be explained quite logically - between Nissan’s Almera and VAZ’s Granta and Kalina, there is a fairly large niche that no one occupies.

Therefore, the model was designed to cover this price segment. Many Russian motorists have the means to buy much the best cars than Russian cars, but they are not enough to purchase a Japanese vehicle.

In addition to the market future, issues of prestige also played a big role in the company’s recovery: Nissan could not decide to provide its own name inexpensive car, so as not to lose face in the niche of expensive premium cars.

The sedan itself is assembled on one of the conveyors in Togliatti, where components of its own production are used. But it cannot do without imported spare parts. Based on this good start official sales, the company decided to increase production. Taking all this into account, the production of many units, components and parts will eventually be mastered at Russian enterprises.

Exterior

As already mentioned, the car is similar to the Lada Kalina 2 not only in technical aspects, but also in visual parameters - if you look very quickly, you can even confuse them. It is logical to conclude that thanks to the use of more modern light optics, a different configuration of wings, bumpers with bright aerodynamic elements and other new parts, Lada

Kalina is noticeably inferior in exterior design, because the Datsun on-DO looks more serious and stylish, even compared to the VAZ Granta. In order to improve the external attractiveness of the car, the dimensions were artificially increased by means of a rear overhang of 80 mm.

The bow of the body is decorated with a large trapezoidal radiator grille with a wide chrome frame and filigree mesh with large cells. You can also pay attention to the small, strict headlights, the embossed hood with stampings, the modest bumper, trimmed at the bottom and complemented by auxiliary holes for the fog lights, and the large, streamlined rear-view mirrors. The side body of the Datsun on-DO shows off its unique fenders and the truly immodestly sized rear of the car.

Similarities with Granta

On the new sedan you can see the lines already familiar from the Grant car, along with contours and styling, but most of them are more expressive and modern. The rear of the compact sedan is not lacking in charm and attractiveness.

Unique lampshades of light-amplifying equipment, large sizes luggage compartment lid, which provides comfortable access to the trunk and, finally, lean rear bumper. The Japanese managed to make the new elements neat and stylish, as well as modernize them and give them solidity.

The model looks nicer than its direct domestic competitor, which allows it to win this competition, winning the attention of car enthusiasts from Russia and beyond. Despite the fact that the appearance of the vehicle is quite budget-friendly, however, with all this, the sedan looks quite attractive, which cannot be fully said about its domestic rival.

Interior

The interior of the new Japanese car is designed on an interior platform Lada Granta And Lada Kalina, however, is very different from them. You can feel it almost everywhere - the center console, dashboard and so on. However, the steering wheel, seats and door card design were transferred to the Japanese from Lada. The torpedo looks pretty good.

This is achieved with the help of considerable volume and waves that smoothly flow across the top of the panel. The instrument panel has a familiar layout and on-board computer display, however, the chrome finish makes the instruments more solid and presentable. The nozzles of the ventilation system, located on the side of the dashboard, retained their shape and location, like those of the Russian “brother”, but the central deflectors received a slightly different shape.

The console located in the center has a correct, ergonomically adjusted shape with the audio and climate system settings units located on it. All the keys and knobs on it are comfortable, you quickly get used to everything - everything is intuitive and readable. If we talk about the interior dimensions of the Japanese sedan, it remains the same, like the Lada Granta.

According to the manufacturers, the cabin is designed for 5 people. In reality, only two people can sit comfortably in the back, and the third seat is not designed for long trips. In addition to the mentioned configurations designed to increase the level of comfort, the Datsun on-DO also has electric drive mirrors with a heating function.

In a more advanced configuration, the car boasts a frontal airbag for the front passenger and side airbags, a multimedia system with a display that supports touch input, a Cityguide navigation system, heating windshield And alloy wheels, designed for 14 or 15 inches.

Despite the large luggage compartment, it can be further expanded by folding it down if necessary. rear seats, which as a result will increase the free space by more than 2 times.

Improvements compared to Granta

The manufacturers also assured that the noise and sound insulation of the interior has been radically improved, the calibration of the springs along with the shock absorbers and the technical properties pendants. Therefore, the inside of a Japanese car is better and more comfortable than in Russian-made cars.

If we talk about the salon, here is the design team Japanese company tried to combine Japanese asceticism with the breadth of the Russian soul. It all starts with appearance and ends modern materials execution - this is noticeably different from the domestic version, and for the better. It’s not for nothing that many people call the salon good quality. If you take individual elements, then they were able to fit well together, and they are perfectly secured.

Another undoubted advantage is the massive luggage compartment, the volume of which is about 530 liters. But there are points that eloquently indicate that this is still a budget model - the seat does not have height adjustment, and the range of adjustments is not so large.

The limited functionality of the car will not allow you to get completely comfortable behind the wheel. In addition, there are no options or armrests for the seats installed in the rear of the Japanese sedan.

Specifications

Power unit

The engine on the Datsun on-DO is a four-cylinder petrol VAZ 1.6 liter in volume. The power of this “heart” develops to 82 horsepower. This aspirated engine has four cylinders arranged in a row and a lightweight connecting rod and piston group.

The power unit has an electrically controlled distributed fuel injection system. The motor fully meets Euro-4 standards.

Despite the VAZ origin of the engine, they were able to seriously modify it, and Japanese engineers were involved in the modernization. The engine runs on high-octane gasoline AI-95. Like the domestic version, here injection system fuel supply.

The power unit is equipped with moving parts made from new alloys with improved weight characteristics. Thanks to this, it was possible to increase power along with torque while saving displacement.

Transmission

The installed manual transmission received cable drive Atsumitec and shift forks from Shaeffler (manufacturer: Germany). A dry single-plate clutch is provided. A Jatco 4-speed automatic transmission can be installed as a separate option.

The manual transmission allows the sedan to reach the first hundred in 12.9 seconds, and its top speed is set at 165 kilometers per hour. If we talk about the “automatic” box, it loses 1.4 seconds to the “mechanics” in acceleration to 100 km/h, however, it is superior in the maximum speed limit at 1 km/h. According to the passport, for every 100 kilometers, the Datsun fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 7.4-7.7 liters of fuel (depending on the version of the car).

Suspension

In order to adapt the car to not very good roads new gas-filled shock absorbers, as well as vacuum brake boosters, were developed for it and subsequently installed. In addition, ground clearance has been increased to 185 mm. When loaded it is slightly smaller – 168 mm.

Datsun on-DO received independent suspension with McPherson struts in front and a semi-independent torsion beam on rear axle. The suspension was retuned, some silent blocks were replaced with more durable ones, however, in general, this is already a familiar VAZ solution with its advantages and disadvantages.

Steering

Driving the Japanese sedan is quite easy, thanks to the electric power steering, which is provided even in standard.

Brake system

The front wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, and the rear wheels are equipped with simple drum brakes, which is typical for VAZ-made cars. Handbrake mechanical.

It is dual-circuit with cross distribution of forces. The Datsun on-DO reviews have already collected quite good reviews and, in general, this is deserved. The car is made with high quality, which makes you feel good about it.

Dimensions

As a result, the Datsun on-DO four-door sedan measures 4,337 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width and 1,500 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,476 mm. The ground clearance has been increased to 185 mm, which will allow you to drive confidently even on a broken country road.

And with a fully loaded car, with five people, 50 kilograms in luggage compartment, the ground clearance will be only 168 mm, which is very good considering the quality of our roads.

Safety

The car is already in standard configuration The Access is equipped with a driver's front airbag. The middle version already has a pair of airbags, and the top version also has side airbags. Also, among other things, to increase the safety of the “Japanese version of Lada” you can find:

  • Seat belts;
  • Seat belt pretensioners;
  • Belt limiters;
  • Electronic stability control (monitors the angle of rotation of the steering wheel in comparison with the actual course of the car, braking individual wheels if necessary).

The simplest configuration of the Japanese sedan Datsun on-DO is equipped with:

If we talk about the Trust and Dream versions, they are equipped with side and passenger airbags. Moreover, models come with electronic stability control (ESC). Quite humane pricing policy, inherent in a Japanese sedan, does not in any way affect the quality of passive and active safety car.

Theoretical crash test

To date, the Datsun on-DO has not yet been crash tested. However, the Lada Granta was checked for safety, which, as we mentioned earlier, is the prototype of a Japanese car. The debut inspection was carried out by Czech specialists at the TUV SUD laboratory, and the next one was carried out by the Auto Review magazine in 2012.

During research Russian car was able to demonstrate himself properly and achieved a result of 2 stars, in points – 8.4. According to Grant's results, she even outperformed Kalina, which suggests that hatchback Datsun on-DO also lost his points.

During the ongoing crash test of the Lada Granta, considerable interest was present among Japanese representatives, because at that time they only had plans to create a vehicle based on the Lada. A little later, Takata specialists began developing airbags and seat belts, which once again makes it possible to verify the advantage of the Japanese in a theoretical crash test over the Lada Granta.

Specialists from the Japanese company Nissan said that since it was able to receive 3 stars on the safety scale (9.6 points), then Datsun on-DO will receive no less a rating. The test itself was carried out according to the method head-on collision with offset.

As a result of the impact, the collision axis passed by the power unit and rushed towards the driver's seat. As for the front and rear doors left side of the car, they were opened under the influence of the powerful force of the collision. The door frame in front was deformed, causing the car to lose a point.

Such a malfunction is defined as a loss of integrity and a reduction in the degree of safety according to EuroNCAP standards. Speaking of the steering column, it is worth saying that it has moved inside the car by half a meter and deviated upward by 68 millimeters.

The displacement occurred following the deployment of the airbags. The cabin capsule was able to maintain its structural integrity; only the A-pillar was damaged, which was bent by 70 millimeters. This deviation is normal and indicates acceptable body strength.

The dummy's head did not hit the steering wheel or dashboard thanks to the airbag, which was able to deploy in time. However, there are also shortcomings with similar triggering. The mannequin was thrown onto the side stand, as a result of which it was subjected to an impact that in reality would have caused a concussion or skull injury. Quite unusually, however, the standardization of a European company does not record or take into account such side effects when calculating the results.

The clutch and brake pedals were moved inside the car by 90 and 120 millimeters. Based on this displacement, they will not cause damage to the legs. The floor of the car was not greatly deformed, and the seats and parts of the interior were not displaced.

As a result, the direct relative of the Japanese sedan, the Lada Granta, scored 8.4 points out of the maximum possible 16. The following received similar ratings: vehicles, How Fiat Albea, Chevrolet Lanos And Hyundai Solaris. Theoretically, the Datsun on-DO is at a similar safety level to these cars.

Options and prices

The production of Datsun on-DO was established at Volzhsky automobile plant in Togliatti, and began selling the cars in the summer of 2014. The cost of a new Japanese sedan of 2016 in the standard Access configuration will be 436,000 rubles.

More advanced configurations Trust and Dream start at 462,000 and 507,000 rubles, respectively. IN minimum configuration includes driver airbag, electric power steering, ABS, EBD, emergency brake assist, height-adjustable steering wheel, heated front seats, folding rear seat backrest.

With the advent of the new Japanese subcompact Datsun on-DO, a dilemma arose: should I give my preference to a semi-foreign car or opt for the VAZ Lada Granta? In this review, we will try to determine which of them - Datsun or Granta - will prevail on the vast expanses of Russian highways in the near future.

Datsun on-DO and Lada Granta cars – are they the same in everything?

The thing is that when creating Datsun on-DO, it was Granta that was taken as the basis. It should be understood that they do not have such big differences, especially with technical side. Although, of course, each of them has individual characteristics. A detailed examination of each of the characteristics will help us understand Datsun from Grants.

Comparative characteristics

General Similarities

Both cars have a number of common similarities, despite the fact that they belong to model lines of different manufacturers. The main one is the use of the same platform for the two models, which originally belonged to Grant. Both cars are designed for 5 passenger seats.

Both Datsun and Granta are perfectly adapted to the conditions of Russian roads and have a ground clearance of more than 16 cm. Thanks to this ground clearance Uneven roads and potholes do not pose major obstacles to driving.

Test drive Lada car Granta:

A significant disadvantage of the Datsun on-DO sedan is the lack of design options for installation automatic transmission transmission Automation will be installed and will work in conjunction with an eight-valve engine, since Datsuns will not be equipped with sixteen-valve engines at all. Therefore, if the choice for a domestic car enthusiast is a 16-valve Granta liftback or a Datsun hatchback with 8 valves, then the obvious favorite here will be LADA.

Chassis architecture

For Japanese developers, the first priority was to achieve complete adaptation of Datsun to all Russian roads. And although the architecture itself was left the same as in Grant, having undergone a complete reconfiguration, the behavior on the road of the first model is significantly different from the second. The quality of stabilizers, shock absorbers and springs in the Japanese and Russian models is absolutely the same, only Datsun has slightly changed the design of these parts.
