Toyota Mark II came to the author of this project with a regular in-line 6-cylinder "aspirated" 1G-FE with a capacity of 140 Horse power. Of course, this engine from the largest Japanese automaker is considered “eternal”, and its characteristics are quite enough for city driving and high-speed overtaking on the highway. But sooner or later, power and torque always begin to be lacking, so it was decided to replace the “native” motor with a more productive and suitable for tuning 1JZ-GTE unit, famous in the circles of technical improvements.

The 2.5-liter twin-shaft "six" was produced for more than one year, and therefore during the production period it received many modifications. Early versions of this engine were equipped with distributed fuel injection and two CT12A turbines, but the “restyled” versions received a different cylinder head with the VVT-i system and BEAMS technology, which was progressive at that time, and most importantly, two parallel small “snails” were replaced by a single supercharged CT15B greater performance.

The engine of the new model is standard for the flagship mark versions II JZX100 Tourer V - has the best return on high revs, but the original version of the "J-Z" is more elastic and produces more torque in the middle of the range. It was necessary to make the right choice.

Initially, this cherry “sedan” was built for everyday driving, and not for racing, so a version of a turbo engine with two “snails” was ordered from the Land of the Rising Sun, which was then installed in the JZ Service workshop, well-known among coastal lovers of “mark-like” ones. And this step was only the beginning of a long journey.

In the fight for uniqueness
And then large-scale work began to bring the chassis, appearance and interior in line with the new engine capabilities. The motor itself received a GReddy front intercooler, a custom fuel pump, a Blitz turbo timer, a sports exhaust system A'PEXi N1 and intake kit from the same Japanese manufacturer. The regular “automatic” was supplemented with a selector with a stepped mode switching scheme from the “Markov” Tourer V configuration, and when working with a conventional non-blocking drive axle gearbox, welding was required. As they say, cheap and cheerful, or rather, simple and practical.

Chief among all the new features to be found in the chassis is the HKS HyperMax adjustable coilover set, well-respected by many drifters. Plus, under the bottom there are already stiffening struts from TRD, but the author of the project has been looking for a “decent” element under the hood for quite a long time - and now a new upper strut is waiting for its turn to be installed.

The choice was made in favor of collapsible alloy wheels from VeilSide, which provided "different-wide" tires with a dimension of 225 / 40ZR18 in front and 235 / 40ZR18 in the rear.
