Marking of automobile disks. What are the parameters of the bolt pattern and the removal of disks on the UAZ Patriot R16

UAZ Loaf (UAZ-452/2206/3741/3909/3962) - truly legendary car. Produced at the Ulyanovsk plant since 1965, it has not lost its popularity today. The car combines such qualities as cross-country ability and excellent capacity, which makes it indispensable for traveling, hunting, fishing in off-road conditions.

But the car really reveals its advantages after various modifications that allow expanding the range of its capabilities: self-blocks that improve off-road movement, springs and elongated shock absorbers that make the suspension of the car softer, off road tires with discs that increase the cross-country ability of the car, body lift, winches, bumpers, etc. All these improvements make it possible to make a prepared off-road SUV out of an ordinary UAZ.

But no matter what tuning is installed on the UAZ 452, it is necessary, first of all, to approach the choice of wheels very carefully. If you have decided on the size of the tires, it's time to start selecting wheels. Every motorist knows that right choice rims very important indicators of an SUV depend:

Driving safety;

The ability to easily overcome rough terrain and off-road.

The best choice is steel off-road wheels for UAZ Loaf. They are great for driving in the most extreme conditions: when hitting various obstacles, they deform only at the point of contact. This damage is easily eliminated by balancing or rolling the disk, which cannot be said, for example, about alloy wheels.

Today steel discs Off Road Wheels for UAZ Bukhanka are produced in various sizes, for any tires, with positive and negative offset. They are made from two stamped solid steel sheets, which are joined by welding.

Before purchasing rims, you can first compare in our calculator the compatibility of all characteristics with rubber parameters, technical features body, running gear. The possible behavior of your UAZ Loaf on off-road routes will depend on compliance with all these nuances.

The choice of disks will be divided into two parts:

1. If you plan to install disc brakes, then buy 16” or 17” ORW disks at UAZ Loaf, suitable for bolt pattern (5x139.7).

2. If you do not plan to install disc brakes, then in addition to the discs described above, it is possible to install ODS discs of 15 diameters.

Their main advantage is that Off Road Wheels are stronger and more reliable than standard regular ones.

Today, many car owners are tuning the UAZ Loaf.

One of the first problems is the replacement of standard, narrow 215/90/15 wheels with wide off-road tires, which will significantly increase the cross-country ability. To do this, you need to replace the factory stamped wheels with off-road ones. Wheels are selected depending on the rubber:

30 inches.

Wheels 30x9.5x15 are installed on the car without modifications. Recommended discs:

To install wheels 31 inches (265x70x16) you need to play with the parameters. We recommend metal wheels for UAZ Loaf with a negative offset:

32-33 inches.

The next stage of the wheel 32-33 inches, involves the refinement of the car's suspension, body lift, installation of arch extensions, and suspension, spring spacers, trimming the arches. The classic size that many Loafers strive for is 33x10.5 (285x75x16).

Bolt pattern of disks on UAZ, this legendary SUV, like any other model of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant brand, is an important parameter when selecting and installing new disks. With the help of the data presented in the parameter, you can find out how the wheel is mated with the elements of the running gear. Such a well-known and popular domestic SUV is able to overcome the most difficult obstacles and can give odds to famous foreign counterparts. The dimensions and characteristics of the car allow you to operate it in completely different conditions. Besides, wheel arches the cars are quite solid in size, so off-road or tuning enthusiasts can install very large wheels.

The manufacturer is allowed to install products of only two wheel sizes - these are R15 and R16. Only with wheels of this size will the car meet all the characteristics and qualities inherent in it. Other sizes are also suitable for operation, but their use may be harmful to components and assemblies. To get ideal off-road performance, it is necessary to take a very high quality approach to the selection of tires and wheels, as well as to clearly know the wheel bolt pattern for the UAZ.

Wheel bolt pattern for UAZ, appearance wheels

Based on a military model domestic manufacturer Ulyanovsk car factory"It is considered the leader, in the country and not only, in terms of off-road qualities. Popular among off-road adventurers and motorsportsmen who participate in all sorts of races.

To improve off-road properties, special tires and wheels are often used, which allow you to overcome more difficult obstacles. However, it is worth remembering that the improvement of any vehicle- this is a very important and responsible procedure, which should be carried out only by specialists in the places designated for this. In the case of the UAZ model, all off-road modifications begin with the replacement of rims and tires, since most of the improvements are aimed at improving off-road qualities.

If the goal is only to improve the quality of appearance, then it may be enough to simply put the wheels bigger size. Their characteristics such as diameter, shape and color can drastically change the appearance. For most car owners, this is enough. Well-chosen and well-chosen wheels can perfectly decorate the car.

Tires for the model are initially used with a very high profile height. This is done to improve the ride quality on bad roads.

However, increasing the attractiveness of such an SUV as the UAZ 469 cannot be called as important a factor as the reliability and quality of this improvement. Everything must be strictly observed important parameters and dimensions for tires and rims. Changing them in a certain direction can lead to breakdowns.

As for the parameters of the disks, the drilling or bolt pattern of the disks on the UAZ must correspond to that indicated by the manufacturer in official documents. It is important that with the presented parameters, this SUV was certified and numerous tests, thanks to which special calculations were made for strength and durability. Wheels and tires are factory-designed to work with exactly that original size, with the exact diameter of the central hole and the drilling parameter. Failure to comply with these requirements does not guarantee safe operation car.

Note!

Increased ground clearance the vehicle allows you to transport heavy loads even in the absence of a road surface.

Characteristics and features of wheel bolt pattern for domestic UAZ cars

The bolt pattern is a mounting parameter, for any car it is indicated by the English abbreviation PCD. Having analyzed the bolt pattern for the UAZ Patriot as an example, you can understand what this parameter means. In this car, it corresponds to 5x139.7:

  • the number five indicates that the disk has that many bolt holes;
  • 139.7 denotes the diameter of the circle on which the centers of these holes are located.

You should always pay attention to these data when it is necessary to replace the rims. The number of bolts can be easily calculated independently.

Due to the fact that human vision does not allow you to determine the diameter, you need to use a ruler, and a caliper is best. Having measured the size between adjacent holes, it is required to insert the obtained data into a special formula and carry out the calculation.

The bolt pattern for Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant SUVs can be called the fact that for models such as Patriot, Hunter and the classic 469, it is the same and equal to 5 × 139.7.

On a note!

For classical model SUV, the drilling parameter is the same as for other models - 5 × 139.7. In addition, the all-terrain vehicle is equipped with 15- or 16-inch wheels.

Other important rim dimensions:

  • Width - 6.0 inches.
  • Departure - ET 22 mm.
  • The diameter of the hole for the hub is TsO 108.

Tires are installed in two variations: 215/90 R15 or 225/75 R16.

Razboltovka disks on the "Patriot" and "Hunter"

Newer models such as the Patriot and Hunter also have the same drill setting but differ in rim sizes.

UAZ "Hunter" has R16 wheels and the following dimensions:

  • Rim width - 6.5J, inches.
  • Departure - ET 40 millimeters.
  • The diameter of the central hole - TsO 108.6 millimeters.

The UAZ Patriot model is equipped with R16 wheels with the following dimensions:

Car "Patriot"
  • Rim width - 7.0J, inches.
  • Departure - ET 35 millimeters.
  • The diameter of the central hole - CO 110.1 millimeters.

The exact bolt pattern for UAZ 469 wheels, as well as other models, will allow you to select and install suitable rims for an SUV and operate it without problems.

A modern car consists of a large number of components, systems that are designed to make movement comfortable and safe, allow you to move on high speed. But all these changes lose their meaning if low-quality tires and wheels are installed on the car. After all, this is essentially the only part that is in direct contact with the road surface.

SUVs UAZ Patriot are designed for movement in places where it is not even planned to use asphalt. This is largely due to the fact that the plant initially specialized in the production of vehicles for the military and other special services. To do this, he has all the necessary qualities:

  • powerful engine;
  • system all-wheel drive;
  • the possibility of installing large wheels.

At the moment, Patriots are well-deservedly popular with hunters, fishermen and travelers. For these tasks, sizes are usually enough standard rubber on 16-inch wheels: 245/70/16, 235/75/16, 225/75/16.

They are installed on wheels on the UAZ Patriot r16 with a bolt pattern of 5 * 139.7 with a central hole diameter of 110mm:

  • 16x7 ET30;
  • 16×8 ET15.

This type of discs is the most resistant to all kinds of impact. You can be sure when moving on any type of surface, because the shape of the disc has an optimal ratio of side surface to radius.

But those who are fond of conquering off-road, notice that for better traction it is better to install wheels higher and wider. The most important parameters that affect this are the width, overhang and diameter.

The most popular step is to increase the outer radius of the rubber, for example by installing wheels 265/75/16 or 265/70/R17. Installation of this type of rubber does not require any modifications. To install them on a car, you just need to pick up wheels with sufficient reach. One of several options will do:

  • 16x7 ET 0;
  • 16x7 ET -19;
  • 16x8 ET 0;
  • 16x8 ET -19;
  • 17X8 ET 0.

In this case, the condition of the suspension must always be taken into account. The new one allows you to install wheels of any diameter, and if over time it sank a little, then it is better to limit yourself to the size 265/70 R16 or 255/70 R16.

Before you install big wheels the car will require some tuning:

  1. The vehicle is raised by 5 centimeters or more. You can use spacers between the frame and the body.
  2. In some cases, factory problems may occur, as a result of which it will be necessary to straighten the arches, or install special spacers for shifting front axle forward.
  3. UAX Patriot r18 wheels are used with an offset of more than -19 so that the wheel does not touch the suspension elements:
  • 16x8 ET -19;
  • 16X8 ET-25;
  • 16X10 ET-44.

If you plan to perform deep tuning, then it is recommended to install discs with beadlocks, since in this case it is possible to lower them by 0.5 atmospheres. This is true in combination with rubber with a large tread from companies such as Fedima, Simex, Interco and others.

Wheels on UAZ loaf

At the beginning of the article, UAZ wheels, I would like to make a small digression and congratulate the owners of this brand on the 70th anniversary of the plant. The jubilee UAZ Patriot produced by the factory will please their owners with special inserts with the number 70 on the car body and steering wheel, alloy wheels for UAZ and much more.

The beginning of the next weather season, and this is spring and autumn, begins the same for all motorists - the choice car rims. UAZ wheels do not have any special differences in their design from others, everything is the same as with all cars. Let's recall what are the main parameters of the disks on the UAZ.

The parameters for mounting (drilling) the disks on the UAZ have a size of 5 * 139.7 - this literally stands for 5 holes located on a diameter of 139.7 mm. and the diameter of the central hole (CO) or DIA - 108. Further, the disks have the recommended size and, so to speak, for replacement.

For those who will select tires when tuning UAZ wheels, one important note is that, as a rule, the offset tends to negative side, the wider the tire should be!

I got bored with the search for a large 14 "rubber, so I'm thinking of switching to 15" wheels, under which rubber is in bulk.

Most a budget option with an identical 5x139.7 bolt pattern, these are stock black pieces of iron from UAZ, the only question is whether there will be problems with the central heating and departure, maybe someone has already tried it?

In our area, it’s rather tight with Niva and Sable, like with the rest of the Soviet industry, except to take new ones, and this is too expensive.
But with the UAZ, things are much better, because. troops in our enclave in bulk and, accordingly, disks from decommissioned copies can be easily found for a glass of tea.

And about the spacers, I didn’t understand at all, what for? in UAZ, the bolt pattern is identical to 5x139.7, the CO is visually larger than that of the MB100, but it has a smaller overhang and most likely the wheels will be wider, so I want to know how critical this is.

Most of the disks are held only on studs and are centered by them, for this the nuts and holes of the disk are made on a cone, remember for yourself what clearance the CH has regular disks with hub. The discs that sit on the CO are quite rare, they are only cast, with flat nuts, they are put with mandatory polyethylene washers in the CO, they are tightened onto the hub and, most importantly, this is simply not used on commercial beads.

I just got back from trying on one UAZo 6"/15" disc. It stood up perfectly, about 3 cm remained from the edge of the rim to the arch, respectively, when rubber 205/70/15 (which is clearly equal to stock 195/80/14 in diameter) is installed on them, the sidewall of the cylinders will be flush with the arches and possibly from this side beads will get dirty faster.

The next task is to install rubber on the disks and try it on already assembled, one BUT - you will probably have to use cameras.

Marking of car rims

Disc labeling seems very complicated. But this is until you get acquainted with the decoding of this abbreviation.

Let's take a look at the example of a standard UAZ disk for bridges of the "spicer" type: 6½JxR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108

Basic disk dimensions

6½ JxR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108
First digit (Rim Width) - rim width in inches. Not the entire disk, but the rim, i.e. where the tire will be. It is size "B" in the picture. Often the width is indicated in decimal fractions. 6,5"" (one English inch, if converted to the metric system, is equal to 25.4 mm)
In this case, the width of the rim is 6.5*25.4=165.1 mm. Note that this parameter is directly related to the width of the tire. For each tire, there is a fork (from and to) of the permissible width of the disk on which this tire can be installed. The best option so that the width of the disk is somewhere near the middle of the allowable range for this tire. You can find out the allowable rim width for a particular tire using tire calculator. It must be understood that if the width of the disk does not match the width of the tire, then this will create a problem with the beading of the tire on the disk, and will also noticeably worsen the performance of the tire, therefore it is necessary to pay attention to this parameter.

6½J xR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108
J(Rim Flange) - this letter is encrypted Technical information about the edges of the disc rim (design, shape, height). There can also be letters (JJ, JK, K, B, P, D ...). The most common rim types today are J (mostly for 2WD vehicles), and JJ (usually for 4WD). Rim flange disc but affect the installation of rubber, compensating weights, as well as the resistance to displacement of the tire on the rim in extreme conditions. Differences between the types of rims denoted by different letters may be insignificant, but they cannot be neglected.
The contact area of the tire to the rim is very critical, small changes in the bead profile of the tire lead to the complexity and even the impossibility of installation, as well as the inability to maintain the required pressure inside the wheel.
Rim outline designations A and D fall under the Cycles, Motorcycles, and Scooters category and are also possible under the category industrial transport and forklifts” (Industrial Vehicles and Lift Trucks). Naturally, the contours have completely different geometries for the same designation in two different categories.
Beads marked S, T, V, and W are categorized under Commercial Vehicles, Flat Base Rims, while E, FGH are categorized under Trucks, Stripped Rims ( Commercial Vehicles, Semi-Drop Center Rims). Obviously, despite external interchangeability, it is still better to choose the parameter recommended by the car manufacturer.

x” means that the rim is one-piece, i.e. consists of one element, and the “-“ sign means detachable, consists of several elements. The one-piece disc rim is more rigid and lighter than the split one, it consists of one element. It is possible to mount tires with elastic sides on such disks, therefore it is used for passenger and small wheels. trucks. The split rim consists of several elements and is used in the construction of the wheels of buses and trucks. The tire beads of these vehicles are so rigid that mounting through the rim flange is not possible.

(rim diameter) - the diameter of the wheel rim (in the figure it is the dimension "A"), measured in inches. This value is determined without taking into account the height of the rim flanges.

6½JxR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108
PSD-
an abbreviation denoting that the disk mounting parameters are standardized. This parameter is often omitted, or written instead (PCD)

6½JxR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108
5x139.7
- directly the parameters of fastening the disk to the hub.
First number 5 indicates the number of mounting holes on the disc. Often, especially on alloy wheels, number of holes marked separately by letters LZ
Second number 139,7 is the diameter of the circle in millimeters PCD(Pitch Circle Diameter), on which these holes are located (or rather their centers).

When replacing disks with analogues, it is very important not to make a mistake, since there are many different standards for this parameter, and the difference between adjacent ones is sometimes only a few millimeters. Therefore, for example, a disc from a car with PCD = 120.65 visually fits perfectly on a hub with PCD = 120, but this does not mean that it can be used on this car.

A is the width between the centers of two adjacent holes, mm.
B is the diameter of the conditional circle along which the centers of the mounting holes (PCD) are located, mm

The main thing to understand here is that despite the noticeable difference in the diameter of the disc mounting holes and bolts (studs), the car manufacturer very accurately calculates the fit of the wheel on the hub. This is due to the fact that any slightest deviation of the center of the hub from the center of the disc will not only cause the wheel to beat (usually accompanied by vibration on the steering wheel), but also jeopardize the reliability of the wheel fastening, because if the diameter of the mounting holes does not match the parameters of the hub, then fully tighten all mounting bolts (nuts) with a conical base (which should ensure the centering of the disc on the hub) is not possible. And this is a threat to life.

As for the fasteners, you need to know a few more subtleties: when replacing a stamped steel disk with an alloy one, you will have to use bolts (or studs) that are longer than standard ones. This is due to the fact that an alloy wheel is thicker than steel.

It is necessary to select so that the length of the thread that is screwed into the hub (or into the nut) when attaching the wheel is at least 6-7 full turns.

If the disk is fastened with nuts (as on UAZ), then most likely, when replacing with an alloy wheel, in addition to the studs, you will need elongated nuts

And on the Patriots, the wheel nuts and spare wheel nuts are different

Left: UAZ-Patriot wheel nut (M14x1.5); Right: spare wheel nut (M12x1.75)

In addition, the old fasteners will not work if holes are provided on the new disk, for example, for tightening on a sphere, and the bolts you have (regular) are tightened on a cone.

A - bolt and nut without head. The faces of the hexagon go to the cone; B, C - bolt and nut with head.

6½JxR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108
H2
options: (H, H2, FH, AH, CH ...) - these letters encode information about design features disk rim shelves and protrusions (humps) on them.

Humpami(from the English hump, “elevation, hillock”) are called ring protrusions along the edges rim designed for tubeless tires. The main purpose of the humps is to securely fix the tire bead in turns in order to prevent depressurization of the wheel. In the notation of disks having one hump along outside, there is one letter N.
But many disc models are equipped with a hump along the inner edge of the disc, as indicated by the H2 index. Two humps increase the reliability of fixing the tire on the wheel, but create problems during its installation.
Therefore, on some discs, the second hump is made as if truncated in height. Such humps are called flat (flat hump), in the wheel marking they are indicated by the letter X .;

Regular Hump - H

Truncated Hump - X

The following designations are also possible: FH - (Flat Hump) a flat-shaped hump, AH - (Asymmetric Hump) has an asymmetric shape, CH - (Combi Hump) a combined shape. The complete absence of humps is possible, while a special shelf SL (Special Ledge) is made on the disk, the design of which is designed in such a way that the tire only holds on to the edges of the rim and does not come off when driving.

6½JxR16 PSD 5x139.7 H2 ET40 c.o.108
ET40
(Einpress Tief, German); - disk overhang(mm). The distance between the plane of application of the disk to the hub and the central axis of the disk. This parameter must meet the requirements of the automaker, since the key parameters of the suspension and steering mechanism of the car are calculated for it. The offset of the disc does not depend on the diameter of the disc, nor on the width of the tire, nor on any of its other parameters. For one hub, the offset is the same for all sizes of tires and rims. Designation options (depending on the country of production): OFFSET, DEPORT.
We often talk about positive overhang and negative overhang. Everything is simple here: if the landing plane is mixed to inside disk - overhang negative. If to the outside - then positive. A positive disc overhang is indicated simply by a number: ET40, and a negative offset by a negative number: ET-40.
A variant is possible when the mating plane is in the center of disk symmetry. Then the overhang is zero and is designated as ET0.
It is allowed to use disks with a spread of + - 5 mm from the standard for this car model.
(It is precisely because of the difference in offset that wheels from UAZ-Patriot with Spicer bridges with ET40 do not fit UAZ-Hunter with Timken bridges, where the offset is ET22)

; d108 (DIA)
Diameter centering hole on disk. Must exactly match the diameter of the seat cylinder on the hub. You need to understand that in addition to the centering function, the landing cylinder has another, no less important - it partially takes on the load that falls on the mounting bolts (studs). Therefore, if the centering hole of the disk you like is larger than the landing cylinder of the hub, you will have to use special adapter rings which can be purchased at tire centers, or order from the Kulibins. But at the same time, the outer and inner dimensions of the centering ring must exactly (!) Correspond, respectively, to the diameters of the hub cylinder and the centering hole of the disk. There can be no gaps of 1 or a couple of millimeters here - otherwise the meaning of installing these rings will be lost.

A few more words about spacers (adapter rings) for disks.
It must be said right away that their application highly undesirable since this design greatly reduces the reliability of wheel fastening and it is not uncommon for a wheel installed on such a delivery to come off with it. But if you still decide to use them, then it is better to refuse to buy supplies with through bolts.

Option 1.
The thickness of the spacers is 3-6 mm. These spacers are made without a hub for the rim, since their small thickness allows the rim to be centered on the standard hub of the car.

Option 2.
The thickness of the spacers is 12-25 mm. The design of these spacers includes the presence of a hub for centering the rim, which eliminates imbalance when the vehicle is moving.

Option 3.
The thickness of spacers is 25-50 mm. A feature of this option is the presence of pressed-in wheel studs in the design of the spacer. During installation, the spacer is first attached to the standard studs with special nuts included in the kit, and then rim attached to the spacer with standard wheel nuts. Ideal for 4x4 SUVs.

Option 4.
The thickness of spacers is 25-50 mm. Spacers of this type are equipped with special bolts, with which they are attached to the hub of the car, after which the rim is attached to the spacer using its standard bolts.

X-factor - (X-factor, Caliper Clearance, Brake Clearance): This is the distance between the mating surface and the back side of the disc. The concept is rather arbitrary. The design of the rim is regulated by the standards, since it is necessary to ensure a fit on the rim pneumatic tire, the design of the disk is quite free. At the same time, it must provide compatibility with the brake elements, the necessary strength of the wheel and an attractive appearance. Simply put, if the x-factor is large, then the wheel will "get up" on the car, where the caliper strongly protrudes beyond the mating plane. If the x-factor is close to zero, then the wheel is intended for cars where brake elements do not protrude beyond the mating plane, for example, like a UAZ with drum brakes. In many jeeps, including the Niva 2121, the design of disc brakes is such that the caliper practically does not go beyond the mating plane, and, accordingly, the wheels for these cars can be with a small x-factor. We emphasize once again that the x-factor is a slang concept rather than an engineering one. Even on a wheel with a large x-factor, the disc may touch the caliper at the disc-to-rim transition or the disc-to-hub transition.

So,
The disk MUST also include:

  • trademark or manufacturer's name
  • date of manufacture. Usually a year and a week. For example, 0512 means that the disc was released on the 5th week of 2012
  • size wheel rim, rim offset
  • authority mark: SAE(Society of Automotive Engineers), VIA(Independent Japan Automobile Inspection Association), ISO, JWL(Japanese National Compulsory Standard for alloy wheels), TUV(Automotive German Association of Technical Supervision). This, speaking in Russian, OTK. Many firms brand their products not with dry alphanumeric indices, but with graphic pictograms.
    On alloy wheels, in addition to the OTK brand, they also put x-ray control stamp, which indicates that the disk has no internal defects - casting shells

  • MAX PSI 50 GOLD- means that the tire pressure should not exceed 50 pounds per square inch (3.5 kgf / sq. cm), the word COLD(cold) reminds you to measure the pressure in a cold tire. (MAX PSI indicated only by Americans)
  • mode of production, for example, if the disk is forged, - FORGED ("Forged"); this inscription is not provided for by any standards, it is knocked out on the disk exclusively for the public, since forged disks are considered very prestigious.

Imported discs, if not imported from third world countries, are outwardly good, but many of them are designed for normal roads and therefore do not meet Russian requirements for
