Tesla cars are a new era in the automotive industry. Tesla electric car - myths and legends - nikolas tesla Modernization and changes

Five-door premium electric car Tesla Model S celebrated the official premiere in the autumn of 2009 at the motor shows in Frankfurt, however, only as a prototype, but was first shown to the public back in March at a press conference in Los Angeles. Serial production of the machine started in the first half of 2012, and already in June, shipments to the first customers began.

In 2014, the Americans upgraded the Escu, adding several all-wheel drive versions, increasing engine power and introducing a new interface for the multimedia complex.

The Tesla Model S looks beautiful and expressive, and it is unmistakably guessed in the stream, although from some angles it resembles other cars. A deliberately aggressive front end with an evil look of xenon optics, a long and swift silhouette with an actively sloping roofline, “muscular” wheel arches and retractable door handles, a powerful feed with beautiful LED lights and a massive bumper – outwardly, the electric car fully corresponds to its premium status. And at the same time, it is in no way inferior to eminent competitors with conventional engines.

The electric liftback experienced another update in April 2016, and this time the main changes were in the exterior design - the appearance of the five-door was retouched in the spirit of the Model X crossover and the Model 3 three-volume.
The front of the car changed most noticeably - the imitating grille a large black plug, which gave way to a thin bar with the brand logo, and LED instead of bi-xenon optics. From other angles, the “American” has completely retained its outlines.

By their own overall dimensions"eska" belongs to the European class "E": its length fits into 4976 mm, width - 1963 mm, height - 1435 mm, and wheelbase - 2959 mm. Ground clearance electric vehicle is 152 mm, however, when installing the optional air suspension, its value varies from 119 to 192 mm.

The interior of the Tesla Model S is a real delight, because it is built around a 17-inch interactive console, located in the center of the front panel, which manages all the main functions of the car. This decision made it possible to abandon the scattering of buttons, leaving only a couple of classic toggle switches on the dashboard - opening the glove box and turning on the emergency gang. The tidy is represented by another color screen, only smaller, and the classic multifunctional “steering wheel” looks the most mundane, sporty truncated at the bottom. The interior of the electric car is tailored with premium materials that combine leather, aluminum and wood.

At the front, in the California “esque”, comfortable and supple chairs with well-developed lateral support and a sufficient set of electrical adjustments are installed. The rear seats in the car are less hospitable - the sofa has a flat pillow and shapeless backs, and the sloping roof presses on the heads of tall passengers.

As a result of restyling in 2016, the interior of the car remained the same in terms of design, but acquired new materials and finishes.

With practicality, the Tesla Model S is in full order: with a five-seat layout, the volume cargo compartment is 745 liters, and with the second row seats folded down - 1645 liters.

There is also an additional trunk in the front of the electric car, but its capacity is much more modest - 150 liters.

Specifications. The “stuffing” is the main “highlight” of the “eski”, because the machine is driven by an asynchronous (induction type) three-phase electric motor (there are several of them on all-wheel drive versions) of alternating current, the output of which depends on the modification, combined with a single-stage gearbox and a set of lithium-ion batteries in quantities from 5040 to 7104 pieces.

  • 60 installed 306-strong Electrical engine, delivering 430 Nm of torque over the entire range, which provides the car with acceleration to the first "hundred" after 5.5 seconds and 210 km / h of maximum speed. Batteries with a capacity of 60 kW / h allow it to travel up to 375 km on a single charge.
  • For modification with index " 75 "A power plant with a capacity of 320 "horses" is provided, the output of which is 440 Nm of peak thrust, powered by 75 kW / h batteries. It takes 5.5 seconds for such an electric car to start accelerating to 100 km / h, its “maximum” is limited at 230 km / h, and its “range” exceeds a little over 400 km.
  • Under the Tesla Model S 60D there are already two electric motors with a total power of 328 horsepower (525 Nm of torque), making the liftback all-wheel drive. This version exchanges the first “hundred” in 5.2 seconds, peaking up to 210 km / h, and on “one tank” it is able to cover at least 351 km thanks to 60 kW / h batteries.
  • "Eska" marked " 75D"has in its arsenal a pair of electric motors, jointly generating 333" mares "and 525 Nm of torque. Such characteristics make the “green” car a real sports car: it “shoots” to the first “hundred” after 5.2 seconds, and it stops speeding up only when it reaches 230 km / h. Fully charged batteries with a capacity of 75 kW / h provide the five-door with a decent range - 417 km.
  • The next variant of the Tesla Model S in the hierarchy 90D equipped with two electric units, the total potential of which is 422 “horses” and 660 Nm of available torque. The electric car rushes to conquer the second “hundred” in 4.4 seconds and gains a maximum of 249 km / h. Thanks to batteries of 90 kW / h, the car overcomes 473 km of track on a “full tank”.
  • The version called " 100D"Driven by front and rear electric motors, which together give out 512" horses "and 967 Nm of torque potential. The first "hundred" of such a five-door submits in 3.3 seconds, and the "maximum speed" does not exceed 250 km / h. Batteries for 100 kW / h provide her with a "range" of 430 km.
  • "Top" solution Tesla Model S P100D equipped with two power plants: the rear electric motor develops 503 horsepower, and the front one develops 259 "mare" (total output - 762 "horse" and 967 Nm of peak thrust). Such characteristics "catapult" the car from standstill to 100 km / h after 2.5 seconds and allow it to accelerate to 250 km / h. On fully charged batteries with a capacity of 100 kW / h, the electric car covers about 613 km.

It takes more than 15 hours to fully charge Tesla Model S lithium-ion batteries from a regular 220V household network, depending on the modification. When using a NEMA 14-50 standard connector, this cycle is reduced to 6-8 hours, and at special Supercharger stations (you won’t find such in Russia) - up to 75 minutes.

The California electric car is built around a flat "winged metal" battery storage unit, to which aluminum subframes and bodywork are attached. In running order, the "eska" weighs from 1961 to 2239 kg, and its mass is distributed along the axles in a ratio of 48:52 (for the all-wheel drive P85D - 50:50).

"In a circle" on the machine, an independent chassis is installed: in front - double wishbones, in the back - a multi-link layout. An air suspension is available as an option.
All Model S wheels use disc brakes (355mm front and 365mm rear) with four-piston Brembo and ABS calipers, and its steering system expressed rack and pinion mechanism with electric amplifier.

Options and prices. In Russia, Tesla Model S is not officially sold, however, " secondary market» You can buy such an electric car at a price of 4.5 million rubles. In Germany, the car can be purchased at a price of 57,930 euros (~3.68 million rubles at the current exchange rate), but including taxes, its cost rises to 69,020 euros (~4.39 million rubles).
Standard "American" is equipped with eight airbags, xenon headlights, 17-inch touchscreen multimedia system, digital panel appliances, power accessories, ABS, ESP, dual-zone climate control, factory audio system, LED rear lights and many other equipment.

Since I saw a program dedicated to this car a year ago, we can say that it has become my dream. Just think - an electric car that does not need to be fed with petrol or diesel that is becoming more expensive every day, which does not pollute the environment, and which is recognized as the most reliable and environmentally friendly car in the world!
Today, especially for the community, a short story about the Tesla Model S electric car.

When I learned that one of the examples of the legendary electric car appeared in Moscow, I decided to meet its owner and see the car with my own eyes, but it turned out to be very popular among fans of electric cars and environmental movements, so I found it at an environmental event.

I'll tell you a little about the car: Tesla Model S is a five-door electric car manufactured by the American company Tesla Motors. The prototype was first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009. Deliveries of the car in the United States began in June 2012. The company calls its car with this type of body "fastback", which we know as "hatchback".

Model S prices start at $62.4 thousand and go up to $87.4 thousand (in the US). The most expensive option is a car with a range of almost 425 kilometers, capable of gaining a “hundred” in 4.2 seconds.

According to the results of the first quarter of 2013, 4750 copies of the Tesla Model S were sold in the USA. Thus, the model became the best-selling luxury sedan, ahead of, in particular, the Mercedes-Benz S-class and the BMW 7-series. A breakthrough also occurred in Europe. In Norway, in the first two weeks of September 2013, the Tesla Model S is the best-selling car (322 units), surpassing Volkswagen Golf(256pcs).

Under the hood there is not everything that we are used to seeing in a car with an engine internal combustion. Here is the trunk instead.

Behind the same. The trunk is quite voluminous, if desired, you can install child seats facing the glass here.

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 85kWh lithium-ion battery pack lasts for 426km, making the Model S the farthest EV available on the market. Initially, Tesla planned to start producing cars with 60 kWh (335 km) and 40 kWh (260 km) batteries in 2013, but due to low demand, it was decided to abandon the 40 kWh model. The base model S uses liquid cooling AC motor that produces 362 horsepower.

At the heart of the car battery (there are 16 blocks) there are about 7 thousand AA batteries stacked with a special distribution of positive and negative contacts, which is kept secret.
The bottom two photos are from sevruk

In June 2013, the company demonstrated the ability to recharge the Model S by automatically replacing the battery. During the demonstration, the replacement procedure was shown to take approximately 90 seconds, more than twice as fast as filling a full tank of a comparable gasoline vehicle. According to company president Elon Musk, "slow" (20-30 minutes) charging of the Model S battery at the company's gas stations will remain free, while a quick replacement will cost the car owner about $ 60-80, which is approximately the cost of a full tank. gasoline.

Let's take a look inside the car. Instead of the usual instruments on the panel, there is an LCD monitor with all the necessary functional buttons and information about the working condition of the car.

At the moment, the car is charging and instead of the speedometer, information is displayed on how charged the electric car is and how many kilometers it will run. Instead of a tachometer, the display shows ammeter data.

The back is quite spacious.

Windows on the door without frames.

On the turn signal is the symbol of Tesla Motors, concise and beautiful.

Finally, I’ll tell you about how the battery of an electric car is charged in the words of its owner. the-bpah

How to charge a Tesla? The simple answer is easy and simple.

Simple math and basic electrical engineering, 8th grade high school.

Remember that power is expressed in kilowatts and is equal to the current strength in amperes multiplied by the voltage in volts.
And the capacity of the Tesla battery is either 60 kWh or 85 kWh, depending on the modification.
And we also remember that regular Charger operates in the range 100-240V 50-60Hz. There are no problems with Russian power grids.
The main thing is not to submit three phases :) but an abstract name without an electrician fighter will not cope with this task, and stupid electrician fighters are extremely rare in nature, natural selection is everything.

So let's go. Tons of options.

Option 1. Always and everywhere.

Regular power supply, regular socket 220V.
12 amps, 220 volts = about 2.5 kW.
Full battery charge - one and a half days (indicated for a large battery 85, for a small one we divide the indicated time by one and a half).
It is important to have a working "ground" on the outlet, it does not work without it.
Technical complexity - all charger connectors follow overseas standards.
The solution is either an adapter from an American socket to a Russian one (Chinese adapters for iPhones are not suitable, they are flimsy PPC, it’s just scary to let 12A through them for a long time), or a banal twist. We cling to the American connectors for twisting the cable cut off from the heated towel rail or microwave oven with a plug. Working.

Option 2. Cheap and cheerful.

Second charger connector. NEMA 14-50 standard, US power outlet.
We take an American socket of the NEMA 14-50 standard (it is important to take care to buy in advance, it is better to immediately reserve a dozen), we call an electrician. We ask or demand to issue 50 amperes on one phase.
Depending on the degree of motivation and motivation of the electrician fighter and possibly the energy fighter, we get either 25A, or 32A, or 40A.
Next, the electrician puts a pre-stocked American outlet on the wall and connects it. The electricians are trained in this, switching does not cause problems (zero-earth-phase clings, neutral is not needed). We are looking for switching schemes on Wikipedia.
The result - the time of a full charge is reduced to 18/14/11 hours.
Already much better, the battery will charge overnight.

What does the charging process look like according to options 1 and 2.
Opened the trunk. He took out the charger. I plugged it into the outlet, waited for the green lights to run. I put it in the car, waited until it blinks green. Went to sleep. A minute and a half for everything about everything.

Not sure if outdoor installation is possible. Visually, it does not look very similar to IP44, in reality - you need to read the specifications. There are definitely options to get out.

Option 3. Wall connector.

The organization process is almost completely similar to option 2.
Differences:
- fighters-electricians and fighters are tasked with providing 80 amperes in one phase. Perhaps the fighters will not cope with this task, 80A is a lot. Then you can limit yourself to 40A.
- instead of a NEMA 14-50 socket, a wall charger is hung on the wall.

The charging procedure is greatly simplified. He removed the plug from the wall, stuck it in the car, went to bed. 15 seconds and no wires under your feet.
Full charge time (if you manage to organize 80A) is reduced to 5-6 hours.
Street performance - yes. IP44 protection.
An important point is to make sure when ordering that the Tesla can be charged with a current of 80A. If he doesn’t know how, the issue can potentially be solved by replacing the charging unit in the Tesla.
But it is expensive, it’s easier to buy not this one but another Tesla, where the block is standard.

For isolated living castles, the option of charging from a single-phase diesel engine is also available. There are absolutely no features, an electrician fighter can easily handle switching.

For now, that's all there is.
So far, there are no superchargers in Russia (110 kW power, charges in 40 minutes) or battery swap stations (they change the battery to a new charged one in 2 minutes).
All will be. A year or two at the most.
There are no technical difficulties, especially in superchargers. The question is exactly when Elon Musk will remember about poor Russia. Will remember soon :)

What else needs to be considered.
What real consumption electricity, in street racing mode (I don’t ride it in a different way yet) is 1.5 times higher than the nominal one. The stock, respectively, is not 400 km, but 250-300.
That the real daily mileage of a typical intramachine is within 100-150 km. Castles drive 150-200 km. Accordingly, every day you need to charge not the entire battery, but half or 2/3. And not 10 hours, but 5-6-7.

It's all. No more features and revelations.
Just every evening we put on charge iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Tesla.

Electric cars began to fill the streets of New York en masse 100 years ago. But why are they still not popular all over the world? The answer is simple - at that time there were not enough powerful batteries. With the development of battery technology, large capacity appeared, and quite a long time ago. Decades ago, at various exhibitions and in news stories, prototypes of electric cars began to catch the eye, which were quite efficient and practical. Each of these new products had something unique and innovative, some manufacturers even put them into mass production and set a price that was affordable for buyers. But why are cars with gasoline engines still the main means of transportation?

That's because at that time there was no electric car that could make a revolution. All electric cars were praised in narrow circles of geeks, but did not find recognition among ordinary people. There were family models that could save money, but there was no supercar, the notebook on the cover that would have been swept off the shelves by schoolchildren and that boys dreamed of from an early age. In the world of electric cars, there was no iPhone and no Steve Jobs to develop it. There was no electric car with “wow!” effect.

Start

Now such a revolutionary car exists. Meet the Tesla Model S. Changing the world for the better, this full-size five-door luxury liftback began in 2012. The ideological father of the project is the American engineer and entrepreneur Elon Musk, who in 2009 presented the Model S prototype to the world at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Today, few people remember how many problems preceded this presentation, Tesla Motors was even on the verge of bankruptcy. However, Musk believed in the idea of a mass-produced electric car to the end, invested all his savings and was able to find investors. And later his efforts paid off: the first limited edition of 1,000 copies worth about $100,000 each sold like hot cakes!

Such a fantastic success is not surprising, since Tesla still remains the electric vehicle with the largest mileage without recharging, accelerating to 100 km / h in, for a minute, 2.8 seconds !!! (meaning the top version of Modes S P85D with Ludicrous mode), and also has the title of the safest in the USA vehicle on the roads. Reality surpassed all expectations. For the first time in 10 years of existence, Tesla Motors has made a profit, paid off all debts and increased the production of Model S. By this time, about 50,000 of these electric cars drive around the world.

In fact, the best electric car in the world, Tesla Model S is today a leader not only in the category of electric cars. So, for example, at the end of 2013 in the USA, the model became the best-selling luxury sedan, ahead of, in particular, the BMW 7-series and Mercedes-Benz S-class, and in Norway, thanks to state support for electric vehicles, the Model S generally became the best-selling cars at the end of September 2013, while ahead of such a weak competitor as Volkswagen Golf.

What electric motor does Tesla Model S have

Under the hood, the Tesla does not have an engine, but a small trunk. According to the laws of automotive logic, if the trunk is designed in front, then the engine is in the back. But everything is not so simple here, because in the back of the car there is also a luggage compartment, but already much larger, there is enough space even for installing two additional child seats or placing a bicycle.

Rear wheel drive models

Electric motor designers placed over rear axle, and visually "do not touch it". A three-phase asynchronous electric machine with four poles is connected directly to the rear drive without a gearbox and transmission as such. top configuration its power is 310 kW or 416 horsepower, and the maximum torque that it can develop reaches 600 N m. At the same time, the engine is capable of delivering up to 16,000 rpm, which allows the car to move at speeds up to 210 km / h. Also, during energy recovery, it can work as a generator when the driver releases the accelerator pedal and the car starts to slow down. In general, rear-wheel drive Model S was originally produced in three trim levels: 60, 85 and P85. Depending on this, the engine power was respectively 225 kW, 280 kW, and in the Performance version as much as 310 kW. Since April 2015, the company has discontinued the Model S 60 and replaced base model on the Model S 70D.

All-wheel drive models

In October 2014, Tesla announced modifications to the S-ki with all-wheel drive, which contain two electric motors each. One, as before, remained on the rear axle, while the other drives the front wheels separately. Thus, in the P85 model, another motor appeared on the front axle, the power of which was 221 hp. with., which in total with the rear, more powerful engine is almost 700 liters. With. Now acceleration to 100 km / h has become possible in 3.2 seconds, which is faster than in Porsche Panamera Turbo S! Also increased maximum speed, which is now 249.5 km / h. Other versions were installed on the front wheels of 188 "horses". Everything all-wheel drive modifications received the suffix "D" and became known as 70D, 85D and P85D. Interestingly, the distribution of the load on the axles was almost even in the early models, but in the new P85D it has become close to ideal - 50:50.

Tesla engineers did not stop there and in July 2015 the company introduced new versions of the Model S - 70, 90, 90D and P90D, along with an optional "ludicrous mode" ("ridiculous" mode), which allows you to accelerate to "hundreds" in 2.8 seconds. Now the P90D combines 259 horsepower(193 kW) front axle and 503 horsepower (375 kW) rear axle, giving a total power of 762 hp. (568 kW). You can upgrade the car and install the "ludicrous" mode for $10,000.

What kind of battery Tesla electric car

All Model S are far from the lightest, the weight of each car is about 2 tons. Although the body elements are made of lightweight aluminum, the battery significantly increases the overall weight of the car. It is located under the floor and includes more than 7,000 modern lithium-ion cells manufactured by the Japanese Panasonic. Depending on the configuration, its power can reach 70 kWh or 85 kWh. Actually, this is where the names of a number of Tesla modifications came from. The less powerful is designed to cover a distance of 335 km on one full charge, on the other you can travel 426 km.

Placing such a heavy battery down between the wheelbase significantly shifts the center of gravity, which makes the car more stable when cornering. Separate lithium-ion modules are not evenly placed in the battery, but are compacted closer to the middle, which has a positive effect on the inertia of the S-ki about the vertical axis. The battery also has another useful function: it strengthens the body structure and stiffens its frame. The developers took into account the sad experience of several cars from the first batch, when the “gas tank” was pierced due to a collision with the bottom of hard objects, and installed a special titanium plate to protect the battery from damage.

In July 2015, Tesla Motors introduced a range upgrade that increases battery capacity to 90 kWh, which can be equipped (at an additional cost) with the top versions of the 85D and P85D. The developers explained the possibility of such an improvement in efficiency by "optimizing the chemical processes in the cell." The new batteries increased the range on a single charge by 6%.

Tesla Supercharger Charging Stations

Fast charging stations allow you to recharge Tesla electric vehicles at up to 120 kW, bypassing the basic 10-kilowatt (or additional - 20 kW) inverter. According to Tesla developers, Superchargers charge electric vehicle batteries many times faster than other types of charging stations. The result of this express charging is quite impressive - 50% of the Model S battery is replenished in just 20 minutes, and 80% in 40 minutes. A 75-minute full “fill-up” might seem like a bit of a stretch, but Tesla says it’s common to stop on long journeys, with people often warming up, eating, or showering.

The network of Superchargers, which are powered by solar panels, is constantly growing: at the end of 2015 there were already 220 of them in North America, and 180 in Europe. The company's management says that refueling for Tesla car owners will always be completely free. This stimulates the use of electric vehicles around the world. And, of course, Superchargers are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How to drive a Tesla car

The driver will first be unusual behind the wheel and will have to get used to the features of the electric car. But these features differ for the better, so you can get used to it with pleasure. For example, Model S does not start, but is turned on by pressing the brake pedal. But that's not the first thing that draws attention, because the first thing that catches the eye is the large 17-inch display located to the right of the steering wheel.

Tesla Motors decided to minimize the number of buttons and mechanical controls, instead putting it all on one touch screen. Only on the steering wheel and steering column left a few mechanical buttons, turn and wiper switches, as well as a handle for the front and reversing. There is another screen behind the wheel, which displays information about the charge and temperature of the battery, the remaining mileage, speed, etc. There are only two pedals at the bottom, in most cases you have to use only one of them - the accelerator. Brakes are only needed emergency cases, since when the gas pedal is released, the car “brakes the engine”, and there is no clutch at all.

Unlike other electric vehicles, Tesla Model S is suitable for people who are going to move not only around the city, but also on longer journeys. Fans of gadgets will also like it, since you can control the state of the car from your smartphone. Due to its luxurious design and expensive cost, the car is in demand among businessmen and people with high incomes, at the same time, due to the high level of safety and the possibility of installing two additional seats for children, family trips will also be as comfortable as possible. And finally, the Tesla Model S is the choice of progressive people who care about the environment and who are ready for an early transition to the transport of the future.

Tesla Model S battery

It is worth noting that Tesla battery Model S has an extremely high charge density (similar batteries are used in laptops). A high battery life is achieved through a modern liquid cooling system, which, by the way, cools the motor itself.

In addition, a modern electric car has reliable transmission from Mercedes-Benz, which drives the car with a single-stage gearbox (one speed). Ratio gearbox 9.73.

  • Top speed: 209 / 201 / 193 km/h*
  • Power: 416 / 362 / 302 HP With.
  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h: 4.4 / 5.4 / 5.9 sec*

pendant and chassis

Tesla Model S just soaked modern technologies, no exception and the chassis of the car. The air suspension is able to change the clearance of the car, it is enough to set the desired clearance and the car will rise or fall at the request of the owner. Due to the lowered center of gravity, the car feels confident even with a decent ground clearance "ala Tiguan".

The steering is rack and pinion and of course has an electric power steering. On-board computer allows you to set the stiffness of the steering wheel. There are several levels, ranging from sporty hard to comfortable "Mercedes" soft, very comfortable, agree?

Suspension

Brake System Tesla Model S deserves special attention. Main brake system consists of ventilated brake discs and electronic system parking brake. But the main feature of this electric car is the regenerative braking system. With its help, the car is able to brake the engine and convert the energy received into electricity, thereby charging the car's battery. This is an extremely useful and handy feature. To activate the regenerative braking system, the driver simply needs to gently release the gas pedal and the electric car will begin to slow down and convert the braking energy into useful energy.

Tesla Model S safety

5 stars is the highest safety rating the Model S has received! The best safety record for 2013. The highest rating is achieved due to the design of the body part of the electric car. The absence of a motor and attachments under the hood and in the rear of the car allows the car body to form a solid “capsule”, which is complemented by strength qualities due to the battery located along the bottom of the car. O .

  • Number of airbags: 8 pieces
  • Additional braking system: ABS
  • Other security systems: Immobilizer, battery cut-off system in case of accident, seat belts, etc.

After the American company Tesla Motors in December 2011, published the technical specifications, price and equipment of the new Tesla Model S electric car, it became clear to everyone that this is the most efficient vehicle in the world by the standards of 2011.

According to representatives of the company, the electric car is planned to be produced in three modifications. They will differ from each other in the capacity of lithium-ion batteries.

Today we will introduce you to new model Tesla Motors 2013 of the year - Tesla Model S.

To the new Tesla electric car all the achievements of advanced technologies from all over the world were introduced, the main result of which was a record power reserve without recharging the batteries - 480 kilometers.

At the electric car spacious salon and excellent driving performance. After watching the videos below, you will be convinced of this. Easy handling and the uniqueness of the transmission, complement all of the above.

The design of the Tesla Model S was developed from the ground up. This electric car has an aluminum body shell.

Let's first get acquainted with the interior of the new Tesla Model S 2013. One of the first striking is the absence of conventional door handles. Sensors are installed in their place, and all door control is carried out by touch.

Regardless of the configuration, in all modifications of the Tesla Model S 2013, there are 7 seats in the cabin, 5 adults, as in ordinary cars, and two children, which are located in the trunk of an electric car.

On an electric car Tesla"There is no ignition switch, as well as a toggle switch to turn on the power supply. Everything happens automatically as soon as the driver settles in his seat.

The upholstery is leather and the decorations are mostly made of wood.

Under the hood of the BMW M5 is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. This engine produces 560 hp. forces and 500 Nm of torque.

It is also worth noting that the 2013 BMW M5 costs $106,695 and weighs 1,989 kg. The 2013 Tesla Model S costs $102,270 and weighs 2,105 kg. (This is one of the expensive modifications of the Tesla Model S 2013, with a large battery capacity).

The drag coefficient of the Tesla Model S is 0.24. This figure is better than the successful hybrid Japanese car Toyota Prius.

Despite the solid weight, the electric car is very sensitive to the actions of the driver and keeps well on the road. For higher driving performance the very low center of gravity, which Tesla Motors specialists obtained by placing batteries across the entire plane (bottom) of the electric vehicle, favorably affected.

As a result, the Model S's center of gravity is at the lowest point of the body, a few centimeters from the road surface.

We present a video in which you can see how the batteries are installed on the bottom of the electric vehicle.

Model S electric motors are powered by a battery that was developed specifically for this model by the Japanese famous company Panasonic. The charge that the battery produces with a parameter of 85 kW / h allows the Model S 2013 to travel 480 kilometers without recharging.
