general information about the car

Subaru Impreza third generation - all-wheel drive vehicle class C with rally genes. Produced in hatchback and sedan. The completely new design of the car caused a lot of controversy among fans of the brand. The production of the model was established at the Gunma Yajima Factory in the Japanese city of Ootashi.

The third generation Subaru Impreza was introduced in April 2007 at the New York Auto Show. The model was offered as a hatchback for buyers in Europe, as a sedan for the United States. In 2008, the sedan appeared in European car dealerships.

The car was developed within the framework of the concept " Sport car on every day". The challenge for the engineers was to develop a beautiful and practical vehicle while maintaining the values of the Subaru brand – powerful motors, four-wheel drive and excellent handling.

In 2010, the model was restyled. The design of the front part has changed, two new engines and a continuously variable transmission have appeared, the suspension has been finalized.

Also in 2010, a crossover based on the Impreza was introduced, called the Impreza XV. It has increased ground clearance to 185 mm and reconfigured suspension.

In 2011, the fourth-generation Impreza was introduced at the New York Auto Show.

Technological features and characteristics

The model is built on a modified second-generation Impreza platform. In length, the car has grown by 115 mm. By 95 mm, engineers increased wheelbase. The design turned out to be quite unusual, especially in comparison with its predecessors.

Compared to the second generation model, there is more space in the cabin, and the new design rear suspension made it possible to increase the useful volume luggage compartment. rear doors began to open at an angle of 75 °, which facilitated the boarding and disembarkation of rear passengers.

The engines of the model were inherited from its predecessor. Atmospheric boxer petrol engines with a working volume of 1.5 liters (107 hp), 2.0 liters (150 hp) and a 2.5 liter turbocharged engine (230 hp). They were paired with a four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual gearbox with a reduction range. In 2009, a new two-liter diesel engine 150 hp, which was aggregated with a six-speed mechanical box gears.

In 2010, the 1.5 liter (107 hp) engine was replaced by a more modern 1.6 liter (114 hp), with a timing chain drive and intake and exhaust phase shifters. Thanks to new lightweight pistons and connecting rods and a special coating of engine elements, friction losses have been reduced by 28%. New engine became 10% more economical. It also became possible to purchase an Impreza with a stepless variator.

A symmetrical all-wheel drive system is installed on the car - the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles- 50:50. On the model with a manual transmission, an all-wheel drive system with a center differential and a viscous coupling is installed.

The front suspension remained the same - like, without a subframe. A completely new rear independent suspension on double parallel A-arms. During the restyling, the suspension was finalized, it was equipped with new shock absorbers and springs with greater energy intensity. The front levers have been replaced with stiffer ones. The stiffness of the bushings of the rear subframe and anti-roll bar has been increased.

In order to improve the safety of passengers, branded frameless doors had to be abandoned. The front engine mount was lowered by 22 mm for better cornering stability. The ground clearance of the car is only 155 mm.

Interesting Facts

The Lineartronic fitted to the Impreza is the only longitudinally mounted continuously variable transmission paired with all-wheel drive. Conditional shifting time in manual mode - 0.1 sec;

Translated from Italian "impresa" - a thirst for success;

Subaru's EE model engine is the first and unique boxer diesel engine in the world. Thanks to the boxer circuit, an ideal balancing of the motor was achieved and the problem of motor vibrations was solved;

Pros and cons in comparison with classmates

Among the advantages of the third generation Subaru Impreza, it is necessary to highlight, first of all, all-wheel drive - the car behaves confidently on any road surface. Fully independent suspension confidently swallows all the pits and bumps in the roadway.

Inside the car, people of any height and configuration feel quite comfortable. All facings and panels fit well - there are no cracks and squeaks. Car thieves are usually interested in the most powerful versions of the model.

The disadvantages of the third generation Impreza include high cost and controversial design. On sedan cars, the trunk opening is too narrow - it is difficult to load bulky items. A major drawback is the lack of good specialists in the repair and maintenance of cars of this brand in the regions.

Target audience, numbers and awards

Subaru Impreza of the third generation, first of all, attracts the views of young people with an active lifestyle. The lack of comfort in it is compensated by excellent dynamics and excellent handling. As a rule, drivers who once appreciated the merits of this model are very reluctant to change to cars of another brand.

In 2008 in the UK, Swedish pilot Patrick Flodin in a 2007 Subaru Impreza model year, won gold in the production car class.

Third Subaru generation The Impreza has received excellent crash test scores from various independent organizations. American Institute automotive safety IIHS in 2007 named this model the best among classmates according to the results of frontal, side and rear crash tests.

The Impreza was named Car of the Year 2009 by Wheels magazine. The car is designed primarily for fans of the Subaru brand. Usually these are young people leading an active lifestyle.

I am not a master of writing, so do not judge strictly.

I live near Norway, on the small island of Spitzbergen. From the auto-selection - Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru (I mean the presence service centers). I will not describe my past experience of owning a car (it simply does not exist, or rather small), so after accumulating a certain amount, I rushed to ask adult uncles about a particular brand of car. Conclusion: it was not worth doing this, because. anyway, he did it his own way.

And then the day came - I'm in the Subaru dealership. The choice was between the Impreza wrx and the 2-liter diesel Impreza. I will draw the attention of local critics that I chose the car that I could get faster. Wrx had to wait six months. In Norway, they don’t buy it much (and they bring it to us from there), so you need to make an application for the plant, and the second option is 1 month. Made the payment and was looking forward to the arrival of the day when the ship with the car would arrive.

Strengths:

  • Controllability
  • Low fuel consumption (mixed around 10)
  • Very popular in the country of residence. I don't think it's hard to sell

Weaknesses:

  • Noise isolation
  • Expensive parts and service

It is believed that the choice of a car speaks about the character of its owner.

Status, drive, frugality or a desire to stand out… you never know what goals we set when buying another car.

I have long wanted an Impreza, in this body.

Review Subaru 2.5 WRX (Subaru Impreza) 2008 Part 2

So, continuation. After 5000 break-in, I began to turn the engine in full. Officials recommend going through MOT every 15,000 — nonsense! The oil they pour in is Motul, no doubt very quality oil, but only the first 4000 km. Then it becomes liquid and black. Having traveled 15,000 km on the Motul without replacement with the level on the dipstick closer to the average from the maximum, I put the engine down. cranked connecting rod bearing, and all this is due to the fact that there was an oil starvation. The motor was replaced under warranty in two weeks, no questions asked.

I have already started running the new motor in a different way. I don’t know how correct this is, but I tried not to keep the engine running at the same speed during the break-in, but to change them from 2000 to 4000. A few nights along the Moscow Ring Road and the break-in was completed. Now the car is very happy. Now I change the oil every 7500 km and not a Motul, but a mobile, with it the engine runs much quieter. Now I put 4 piston brakes, because. stock is nothing at all. After one braking from 180 to 40 km / h, they refused to work. Brakes with a large disc diameter (instead of a stock 300 mm - now 330 mm) brake much more effectively and do not heat up as much. And I also want to note about controllability. If earlier I wrote that the handling is excellent, then after some time it began to be missed. Big rolls on corners. Now put adjustable suspension HKS Hypermax III, it has become a different matter, the car goes through turns like on rails, the only thing that now lacks rubber is narrow.

And how to drive this car in winter. A little bit of gas in a turn, and you are already in a controlled skid - it takes your breath away, and the roar of the engine is a fairy tale))) In winter, the Subaru is a real lighter. You can get a lot of pleasure from driving it. I rode in the winter on various prepared tracks (Leader, Myachkovo ...) - you forget about everything!

Review Subaru Impreza 2.5T WRX (Subaru Impreza) 2008 Part 5

Hello auto forumers.

I will continue the story of the life of the WRX.

After 2.5 years after the purchase, I was faced with the classic gadfly WRX itch — I want to be faster, smarter, more picky, i.e. STI. Due to the insane increase in prices for new cars over the past 1.5 years, taking a new toad is strangling, ab.u. reluctance. Therefore, I decided to start by limiting myself to tuning an existing car, namely the so-called "Stage 1".

Review Subaru Impreza 1.5R Comfort (Subaru Impreza) 2008

I got behind the wheel of a car by accident. Came to visit and managed to get behind the wheel. The review, of course, cannot be complete, since it reflects a very short episode of acquaintance. Written according to the most vivid impressions. Some little things will be missed.

Appearance. Perhaps fans of the brand do not really like the look of the car, it did not cause any rejection in me. But at the same time, given the cost of the car, then perhaps the car should be brighter. The muscular design in other versions of the Impreza is more interesting, IMHO.

- Trunk. Very small. I even looked under the floor of the trunk, but there is no spare wheel and no space. Good for small luggage. big family it will be difficult to place things in the car. But I liked the curtain that covers the trunk. Very comfortable and functional.

Strengths:

  • Excellent handling
  • Four-wheel drive
  • The presence of a lower row
  • Excellent visibility
  • Weak loss of value in the secondary market
  • Economy
  • High build quality

Weaknesses:

  • The engine does not pull on bottoms
  • Very specific box
  • High price
  • Cheap finishing materials
  • Small trunk and interior

So the Impreza is almost 3 years old. Time to take stock and say goodbye to the guarantee.

The overall impression remains the same as immediately after the purchase: the Subaru Impreza is a strange car with a wonderful energy-intensive suspension, loving high revs engine, spacious interior and a microscopic trunk, good handling with rather sluggish acceleration ... This is a city car for people who are not burdened big family who do not like outdoor activities, but who want to comfortably ride on the ROAD in any weather.

Good afternoon, dear site visitors.

So, the turbomachine rode 30,000 km, having passed the next MOT (30,000), during which the following was done according to the regulations:

  • replacement engine oil(Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP Formula),
  • replacement of antifreeze (Mobil Extra),
  • replacement brake fluid(Mobil Brake Fluid DOT4),
  • replacement of cabin and air filters,
  • inspection of "everything and everything."

Outside the regulations, the stabilizer bushings of the front and rear were replaced, because due to our roads broken to the point of madness, the bushings “died to death” shortly before MOT.

No more problems with the car, neither me nor the dealer's servicemen found.

Review Subaru Impreza 2.0R Luxury (Subaru Impreza) 2008

The first part was written in the fall, and then came the winter of 2010, showing the correctness of my choice of car. Despite the low ground clearance, the Impreza never stalled, confidently overcame the snow-covered St. Petersburg yard passages, avoiding drifts and overtaking the rest of its class in the slush. And once she put Santa Fe to shame, the owner of which at first did not let us through at the exit from the yard, and then buried himself in the snow and resorted to the help of a shovel. It turned out that his Santa — monoprivodnoy American. While he was digging, the Impreza showed him her tail and walked off proudly, throwing clods of snow into the air with all four wheels.

In cold weather, the plant always confidently. Once the driver's door stopped closing with the key fob. The problem was solved at the dealer after washing and warming - the contacts froze. Consumption in the city in the most severe snowfalls grew to 14 liters, affected by a long movement in 1-2 gears. Climate control, heated seats, mirrors functioned adequately. I went to work and on business in a light jacket, and on a long trip it was warm and without outerwear. Winter studded tires (Yokohama) turned out to be noisy, we had to put up with this. In the cramped snow-covered yards, he received minor damage (a dent on the rear right door, passing to the rear fender), which he eliminated at the CASCO dealer.

In May, MOT passed by 15 thousand. The cost of MOT is large (11,500 rubles), but not prohibitive. The most expensive part was the cabin filter (2600 r). Next time I will buy it elsewhere (from 500 rubles), since this is not forbidden by the dealer. The other day I got the first unpleasant impression of a car - I found three rust stains on the trunk lid from under the license plate. A detailed inspection showed that the frame installed at the dealer with each slamming of the trunk hits the trunk lid. At the same time, the protruding three latches of the frame pierced the paint layer to the metal. I'll try to get it repaired under warranty.

Strengths:

  • Four-wheel drive

  • Weak paintwork

15.05.2010

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen!

So, the “pearl” continues to roll through the cities and towns of the central and northwestern parts of all Russia ... The machine has been run in (according to the OD, it “rolls out” completely by about 9000 km). At 8500 km, I added 350 ml of oil to the engine (Mobil 1 0W-40), i.e. this consumption after changing the oil during the "break-in" TO-1600 km.

Weaknesses:

Review Subaru Impreza 2.5T WRX (Subaru Impreza) 2008

Became the happy owner of this little animal))) Before that there was a Mazda 3 2.0 sport 150 horses ... The machine is nothing like that, but this ... a completely different level))) Yes, the salon could have been made a little richer (at least plastic is more expensive to use), but is it Is that why they buy it? The dealer made crankcase and differential protection, tinted the rear windows and hung mudguards (by the way, they help a lot from dirt on rear window). I bought winter tires NOT studded, I ran into studs - what the hell, a useless, dangerous thing ... True, the dealer screwed up quite well - he installed a turbo timer (along with signalization) and fur for me. protection on the box ... I just installed it in such a way that it works (the key turns and pulls out) only in 4th gear ... so I sit and wait until the machine cuts out, and only then I close the box ... well, it's okay, I'll change it soon.

The run-in was strictly according to the book (3-4 tons of revolutions), although I really wanted to try it in practice ... I went through MOT, everything is in order, and began to try it in practice. Acceleration — chic … riding, of course, only in winter, so I have not yet fully understood or felt the acceleration. When there is dry asphalt, and now I see it more and more often)), then I do the following: I stand at a traffic light, raise the speed to 2800-3000, somewhere like that, no more ... green light, vruuuummmmmmm, the arrow fluctuates a little between 3000-3500 ... and then the main thing is to have time to catch the moment when the arrow flies to 5000, switch to the second one and quickly release the clutch and gas-gas. Then you get the perfect switching and the effect of constant pressing into the seat without any jerks and some other crap ... mmm, yyyyyyyyy

Now I drive on 16 205/55, when maneuvering left and right, there is a veininess))) How would it shake her up after rebuilding. I read in various test drives that she has some kind of roll ... so far I can’t say anything about this: 1. Wrong wheels, I’ll put 17 in the summer and everything will be clear. 2. Wrong coverage - again, all in the summer ... At 80-90 I went along the radius to the Ring Road ... it holds everything and does not slip anywhere ... I like it very much. Drifted near the real in the snow ... damn it, atas control: if you wanted here - I went here, I wanted here - I went here, spin on the spot - please ... And all in 2nd gear up to 3000 rpm ... I drive 80 km around the city in 4th gear ... in general I drive around the city not in the turbo zone. A knowledgeable person said that in the turbo zone, either gas to the floor, or no gas ... otherwise it is harmful to the turbine. Therefore, in the city up to 3000 rpm (3000 inclusive). But in the evening, when there are fewer cars, or somewhere when rebuilding, I give gas to 5000 so that I don’t forget)))

"Black Pearl" is the name of a Subaru color scheme. Review Subaru Impreza 1.5R (Subaru Impreza) 2008

The car was purchased brand new in July 2009. Before that there were VAZ 2105, Toyota Carina 1990 and Daewoo Nexia 2004. After Toyota, which I had to part with due to a breakdown, I considered Nexia as a temporary option until there was money for modern car(Purchase on credit is not considered in principle).

While saving up for a car, I re-read a lot of magazines, especially sections on typical breakdowns and problems, the reliability of certain cars. And now, when I could already choose between new focus, aster, Lacetti, fawn, oktashi, etc., I suddenly realized that among all this variety, nothing “catches” me. I had completely decided to abandon the purchase and drive further on the Ksenia, as I quite spontaneously jumped into the Subaru salon. Immediately got an hour test drive on the Impreza 1.5. After a test drive, I realized that this is the same car that I need. Brought my wife to the salon. Hatchback dropped immediately because of the small trunk and low hanging over rear seats ceiling. I wanted to take a 2 liter Impreza, but with a sedan there were only 1.5 liters. The lack of power, which affects when overtaking trucks on the track, I compensate for the experience and active work of the manual gearbox handle.

In the choice between power and practicality, gave preference to the latter. The salon offered a 9% discount on cars with cruise control, leather steering wheel and 6 airbags. Alloy wheels, climate control, music were already in the database. The car itself cost 616 thousand. With crankcase protection, mudguards, signaling and insurance, I invested in 700 thousand. I was pleasantly surprised by CASCO - with my experience of 23 years it amounted to 33 thousand, and a month later it paid off (changed the cracked from a pebble under insurance windshield). In less than 5 months, dashed off more than 10 thousand km. There were long trips from 600 to 1200 km one way, as well as winding to the country for 100 km from St. Petersburg, and of course daily traffic around the city to and from work. Fuel consumption in the country is 7-8 liters per hundred, in the city 11-13 liters. Now average consumption on the computer for 10 thousand km - 8.8.

Strengths:

  • Four-wheel drive
  • Excellent standard lighting
  • Strengths:

Now about the car. The car is good — do not say anything, nimble and fast. Excellent visibility and comfortable fit, and in general, ergonomics and ease of use of the main controls do not cause any complaints. You can only blame the fuzzy temperature display at the climate control. Comfort level, especially compared to the rest of the Subaru. With all these positive qualities the poor finish and the practically absent trunk are especially annoying. And in general, everything is very, very good. If you do not forget about the clearance of 155 mm, you can carefully move off the asphalt, and in winter there is four-wheel drive - there is four-wheel drive. There is enough space in the back for a golf class, although there are no amenities, not even an armrest. The light was no, even though xenon. I lifted and adjusted it myself at the stand, because the dealer did not get involved with this simple task.

About service. Everything is as usual with Subaru. Expensive and nothing else to say.

    Strengths:

    Weaknesses:

Often, modernization is used only as publicity stunt, since new bumpers and headlights by and large do not affect consumer qualities cars. In the case of the Impreza WRX STI, there were also cosmetic touches, but the Japanese focused their attention on much more important things, seriously changed the suspension, transmission and added another sedan body option to the range of the new generation of the model.

In the European market, almost all companies offer diesel versions their cars. Without such a motor in the range, one cannot count on successful sales. Realizing this, Subaru introduced the first diesel engine in its history. First, they were supplied with the Forester crossover, and now they have begun to install it on the Impreza.
