Driving tests of summer tires. The best summer tires. Nokian Hakka Black – summer tires test

The most demanded size in this segment is 215/65R16. Such shoes are worn by the Chevy Niva, which is popular among the people, and the rather expensive Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Renault Duster bestseller - we used it as a carrier. Realizing that most of the time crossovers iron the asphalt, they limited themselves to comparing competitors only in these conditions, leaving the primer as an optional extra - outside the offset.

The Nokian tire, the Hakka Sport Utility model, got to the head of the column with 936 points. The leader has the highest rearrangement speed among the test participants. The cost is not at all a record - 5000 rubles, this provides a completely democratic value for money: 5.3.

The Michelin Latitude Diamaris is noticeably more expensive, scoring 926 points and taking the vice-championship position. We consider this tire the most balanced and devoid of shortcomings. The exception is the price: it is the highest. Therefore, the price / quality indicator is appropriate - 6.3.

On the bottom step of the podium is Pirelli (model Scorpion Verde), losing only a point to Michelin in the overall standings. Due to a much more modest price, the price / quality ratio of 5.3 is the most attractive in the leading group.

The first trinity is slightly behind the "Continental", represented by the ContiCrossContact UHP model. It came close to the 900 mark (898 to be exact) that separates great tires from just good ones. These wheels are expensive (5700 rubles), and therefore, in terms of price / quality (6.3), they compete with Michelin.

Rounding out the top 5 with 886 is Hancook's Dynapro HP, which is constantly improving its performance. In terms of price / quality (5.0), the tire managed to catch up with Pirelli. At the same time, she, albeit only by one, beat Bridgestone's Dueler H / P Sport, which scored 885 points. According to the characteristics determined during our test, Hankook and Bridgestone can be safely called twins: these tires differ in nuances that only high-precision equipment can capture. The only noticeable difference is the price. And if so, why pay more? 5.0 versus 5.9, there is no doubt which purchase is more profitable.

Viatti with the Bosco A / T model got to the seventh line - 868 points at a price of 3700 rubles. give a price / quality ratio of 4.3.

Very bargain, although domestic competitors have a price / quality ratio of less than 4.

Eighth place with 866 points goes to "Goodyear" (model Efficient-Grip SUV) with an exorbitant price. The highest speed index (240 km / h) could serve as a partial justification - but where in Russia can you drive so fast? Unless it warms the soul. In terms of price / quality (5.9), we will include Bridgestone and Yokohama among the same “shower warmers”.

By the way, the latter, having gained 842 points, lagged behind the main competitor, Bridgestone, by more than 40 points and took only ninth place.

Literally on the heels of her comes the domestic "Amtel" with the Cruise 4 × 4 model. He is a little slower than the bulk of the participants, his maximum speed is “only” 190 km / h, but this did not stop him from scoring 841 points and taking the tenth line. In terms of price / quality (3.6) - the most profitable purchase.

Very close to him All Terrain("Cordiant") with a semi-all-terrain tread. For such a tire, 834 points and eleventh place in a dispute with asphalt colleagues is a very worthy result.

The twelfth place, quite unexpectedly for us, was taken by the "Japanese" "Dunlop" - the Grandtrek PT2 model, which was able to score some 804 points. It seems that the lowest speed index (180 km / h) has nothing to do with it. But the rough Russian asphalt is clearly not to her liking. In terms of price-quality ratio (5.5), this sissy is located in the middle between Nokian, Pirelli, Hankook tires on the one hand and Bridgestone, Yokohama, Goodyear on the other.

WORD AND DEED

Tires for all-terrain vehicles, unlike ordinary cars, work in more difficult road and off-road conditions. Their features are not only in specific dimensions and increased load capacity. They are structurally stronger due to a more powerful frame and reinforced shoulders and sidewalls. Sometimes such tires are marked with the abbreviation SUV, more often with a destination code. Here are the most common (but not mandatory) categories.

M/T (MT) - Mud Terrain- tires with toothy tread for mud. As a rule, such tires are not recommended to drive on asphalt. Here they are noisier than purely asphalt counterparts. Coupling properties are low, because due to the wide grooves, the contact area of rubber with asphalt is minimal. Yes, they wear out quickly.

A/T (AT) - All Terrain- universal tires that combine increased cross-country ability with satisfactory behavior on asphalt. However, on hard roads they exhibit the same disadvantages as the M/T, but to a lesser extent.

H/T (HT) - Highway (Terrain)- road tires for paved roads. More comfortable than the previous two categories, with better traction on asphalt. Naturally, they are inferior in cross-country ability to A / T and, to an even greater extent, to M / T.

S/T (ST) - Sport (Terrain)- as a rule, they differ from the H / T category by a higher speed index. The tread pattern is even less aggressive and does not involve driving on primers. If you are not going to drive, it makes no sense to overpay for them.

On sale there are passenger (PC - Passenger Car) tires of the same dimension as the SUV. They can be used instead of all-terrain vehicles, provided that the speed and load indexes are correctly selected, but if you drive only on flat roads. You will have to forget about curbs, ruts, pits and other obstacles that load and strain the sidewalls.

215/65R16 SUV SUMMER TIRE RANKING: BY LOCATION

12th place. Dunlop Grandtrek PT2 98S

Place of manufacture Japan

Tread depth 7.1-7.4mm

Shore hardness 61 units.

Tire weight 10.7 kg

Price/quality 5.5

The weakest braking on dry and wet surfaces. The leader of the exercise loses 7.5 m on a wet road and 7 m on a dry one.

At high speeds, they are affected by crosswinds. Correction of the direction is complicated - a blurry "zero", a significant delay in reactions. You should not even think about sharp maneuvers, they succeed only at the lowest speed. The car suddenly breaks into a slip, and early, at a speed of about 60 km / h.

On a wet road, there is a strong drift at the entrance and a skid at the exit, and again at a low speed.

Comfort sucked. Loud noise from 20 to 65 km / h. Early start squealing in corners and when braking. They transmit shocks from convex irregularities.

They roll best of all: at a speed of 60 km / h it is inaccessible to the rest, at 90 km / h - in the leading group.

Lowest fuel consumption, satisfactory ride.

Extremely weak braking on dry and wet surfaces, problematic handling during extreme maneuvers on wet surfaces, difficult behavior at high speed and handling on dry roads during extreme maneuvers, noisy.

This universal tire with a toothy tread has naturally weak braking, although it is better than that of the “asphalt” Dunlop: on a wet road, the braking distance is 3 m shorter.

At speed, drive the car slightly from side to side, without requiring steering. An attempt to gently change the lane causes a sluggish reaction, and then a sharp skid of the rear axle.

The speed at the rearrangement is average, the handling is difficult. Large steering angles and a sharp skid at the exit. On wet pavement, drift at the entrance and skid at the exit, lack of information on the steering wheel.

They buzz loudly with a toothy tread, especially in the speed range of 45–80 km / h. They shudder on medium bumps. Rolling resistance is increased at any speed, in this they are on a par with Amtel.

High cross-country ability, speed at the rearrangement is average, satisfactory smoothness.

Weak braking on dry and wet surfaces, increased fuel consumption, difficult directional stability and handling during sudden lane changes, noisy.

Dry and wet braking is average.

On a straight line, the car floats slightly from side to side. Direction correction is complicated by increased steering angles and delayed responses. The speed at the rearrangement is average. In dry conditions, it is problematic: large steering angles and a strong roll contribute to a sharp, unpredictable skid. In the wet, a little better, but the behavior remains difficult due to the large steering angles, coupled with a complete lack of information content.

They make a loud noise from 25 to 65 km / h. They make the car wobble on medium bumps.

Rolling resistance is above average at any speed.

Average braking, satisfactory noise level, good cross-country ability.

Tire weight 11.1 kg

The average price in online stores is 5000 rubles.

Price/quality 5.9

Braking is weak: results on dry and wet roads are comparable to those shown by the more off-road Cordiant. Driving at high speed is smooth, but reactions to direction corrections are thoughtful.

The speed of performing extreme maneuvers is low. Handling is difficult - an unexpected breakdown in slip leads to a departure from the trajectory. Smooth steering wheel action is preferable. On wet surfaces, the speed is limited by a strong, progressive skid.

They buzz loudest at a speed of 40-45 km / h. Strongly push the car on average roughnesses.

Rolling resistance is low at any speed.

Economical at any speed, high speed behavior and comfort level are satisfactory, good cross-country ability.

Shore hardness 74 units.

Tire weight 11.4 kg

The average price in online stores is 3700 rubles.

Price/quality 4.3

Braking is average on both dry and wet surfaces. They seem to be rolling the car evenly, but with soft changes they noticeably lag, then sharply, as if from a slingshot, they shoot to the side.

The speed at the rearrangement is above average, - the tires seem to have been created specifically for the Duster. On a dry road, the reactions are slightly delayed, on a wet road - a slight passive skid that does not require compensation.

The hum peaks at about 45 km/h. On small irregularities, the door upholstery and the instrument panel are forced to “talk”. Rigidly push the body on medium and large irregularities.

Rolling resistance is average at all speeds.

High speed when performing extreme maneuvers, stable behavior during extreme maneuvering on dry and wet surfaces.

Exchange rate stability leaves much to be desired, rigid.

868 points

Will delight in urban modes, on the streets with a high quality coating.

Braking is slightly better than average in the wet, close to average in the dry. At high speed, move the machine slightly away from the intended direction under the influence of a slight transverse slope or side wind.

The speed when performing the rearrangement is average. Fast steering causes a sharp skid, smooth - thruster steering of the rear axle. On wet surfaces, the speed is limited by a sharp skid. The driver is hindered by increased steering angles.

Quite loudly buzzing in the range of 30-60 km / h. They push the car on medium bumps, large and small damp well.

Rolling resistance is average at any speed.

Stable in all respects.

Minor remarks about directional stability, handling and comfort.

Shore hardness 71 units.

Tire weight 10.1 kg

The average price in online stores is 5700 rubles.

Price/quality 6.3

They brake well on dry surfaces (fourth result) and excellent on wet ones. The palm of leadership in braking gave way to Pirelli. At high speed, the movement is smooth, without deviations. A clear "zero" and high information content help with gentle maneuvering.

Transfer speed is average. On a dry road, the reaction is good, but when the steering wheel is shifted, the information content decreases. Sharp, deep skid at the exit. If you do not have time to pay it off, the car is thrown out of the second corridor. On a wet surface, the same remarks - skidding. But not as sharp as on dry land.

Comfortable. The general noise background is increased, but the irregularities are not voiced. Shocks and vibrations are transmitted from all road bumps.

Rolling resistance is low at all speeds.

Excellent braking in the wet, good in the dry, low fuel consumption, a clear course at high speed.

Difficult handling during extreme maneuvers on dry roads, tough.

898 points

For urban and suburban driving modes on high quality hard surfaces, they will help save fuel.

Place of manufacture UK

Asymmetrical tread pattern

Shore hardness 65 units.

Tire weight 12.1 kg

The average price in online stores is 4600 rubles.

Price/quality 5.0

Braking is the best: they beat Continental, which usually leads in these disciplines, and the outsider of the exercises is "carried" by one and a half car bodies - 7.3 m on a dry road and 7.6 m on a wet one. The course is kept clear. Good response to direction correction. High speed of rearrangement on a dry road, on a wet one - medium. When driving on dry land, the speed is limited to a small, easily corrected skid.

On a wet road, large steering angles and a decrease in information content on the shift were noted. Speed limits smooth and soft drift.

Comfort is almost like that of the "Continental": rustling rustling, deaf sounding of irregularities. Shocks and vibrations from road bumps. Rolling resistance is average at any speed.

Better braking on dry and wet roads, a clear course at high speed, clear handling during extreme maneuvering on dry roads.

Tough, minor remarks on wet handling.

925 points

The best qualities are shown in suburban modes on roads with a good hard surface.

2nd place. Michelin Latitude Diamaris 98H

Place of manufacture Poland

Asymmetrical tread pattern

Tread depth 7.2–8.5 mm

Shore hardness 66 units.

Tire weight 11.6 kg

The average price in online stores is 5800 rubles.

Price/quality 6.3

Dry braking is good, even better than the Continental. On wet - in the first four. At high speed carry the car smoothly. A clear "zero", good reactions and small steering angles help in soft maneuvers.

High transfer speed. Behavior is clear, handling without complaints. On a dry road, the clearest reactions and the best information content. On wet surfaces, the speed is limited to a slight skid, which is easily stabilized.

The best in terms of comfort. Softly pass any irregularities. Quiet, only slightly phony on coarse-grained and rough pavement.

Good braking, economical at 60 km / h, stable handling and directional stability, high level of comfort, good cross-country ability.

No deficiencies noted.

926 points

Tires for all occasions: stable in any conditions on different roads, will not let you down on the primer.

The differences between the best tires in this test are quite small, and when braking from 80 km / h, their results are within a few meters. So while wet stopping distances are a good indicator of overall tire quality, it's worth noting that the differences were minimal in the case of the top performers in this test.

Another visual way to see how good a particular tire is is to determine the residual speed on wet surfaces. For example, in this test, where Continental, Dunlop and Pirelli had already stopped a VW Golf from 80 km/h, the speed of the car on Bridgestone or Nankang was still 30 km/h. If we calculate what the performance will be when braking from 120 km / h, the differences become even more significant, and here the residual speed of the worst tires will already be about 50 km / h.

Wet grip, as well as rolling resistance and noise levels, have been featured on the new EU label since November last year to inform the buyer of these three important tire characteristics. As noted in Test World, this year's tests were carried out in accordance with the standard methodology adopted in the European Union, after which the results were compared with tire ratings supplied by manufacturers. As a result, it turned out that the test results and assessments of the companies themselves differed somewhat, but by no more than one division of the scale, and such differences can be considered within tolerance, since there is still a small variability in testing conditions.

TEST RESULTS

Braking on dry and wet surfaces

Wet braking performance tests were carried out in accordance with EU regulations, according to which tires are rated according to new system markings. Take into account, in particular, the coefficient of adhesion and roughness of the asphalt, the characteristics of the car and the load capacity of the tires.

(Braking distance from 100 to 5 km/h, m)

(Braking distance from 80 to 5 km/h, m)

Handling tests were carried out on an irrigated track, including various types of corners, that is, the tires had to demonstrate braking and acceleration efficiency, as well as hydroplaning resistance.

(Time to pass the distance, s)

The speed at which wheel slip began, acceleration stopped, and the car went out of control was estimated.

(Speed of loss of adhesion, km/h)

Driving performance on wet and dry surfaces

The behavior of tires in various situations was evaluated, including during an emergency detour of obstacles. The most important criteria for obtaining a good score were a high level of safety and predictable steering responses.

(Score, points)

(Score, points)

The noise level this time was assessed subjectively. The car was accelerated to 100 km / h, after which the engine was turned off. Pilots gave ratings for how loud the noise was and how annoying it could be. Noise was assessed in both the front and rear seats.

(Score, points)

The test was carried out on an uneven surface with bumps and potholes. The ride comfort was evaluated both for the driver and for the passengers sitting behind.

(Score, points)

Tests were carried out in laboratory conditions in accordance with EU standards. After the tests, the effect on fuel consumption was determined using a computer.

Goodyear won first place for "raising the bar to a new level when it comes to combining low rolling resistance with high wet grip". The tires performed well in all disciplines - they have good handling and speed on wet pavement, decent ride quality on dry pavement, and they cope well with sharp maneuvers. Perhaps the only drawback can be considered only a relatively weak resistance to aquaplaning.

The Continental has been praised for its ease of handling and logical response during emergency manoeuvres, but the Finns have noted that the tires on the rear axle still show a tendency to lose traction when shifting hard on dry pavement. Continental also took first place in the hydroplaning test and these tires have a very quiet and comfortable ride. Rolling resistance is quite low, but not as good as best tires, and the only significant drawback is the long braking distance on a dry surface.

Nokian performed well in this test and fell only one-tenth of a point behind the leader, sharing second place with Continental. Finnish tires were described as surprisingly predictable and balanced tires that never give the driver an unpleasant surprise. Nokian also brake effectively and fight against aquaplaning, but in these disciplines they still lost to the leaders. Ride quality, noise level and rolling resistance are average.

The Dunlop has a very short stopping distance and good controllability on both dry and wet pavement. At the same time, when the load increases - primarily on dry pavement - the tires can unpleasantly surprise you with a sharp loss of grip on the rear axle. Dunlops will also not tire with high noise levels and they have good aquaplaning resistance.

Pirelli showed excellent grip on wet surfaces and excellent hydroplaning resistance. At the same time, they are somewhat unpredictable, and in extreme situation on wet roads, the clutch can be lost too easily. On dry surfaces, the Pirellis, on the other hand, react very precisely and quickly during sudden rearrangements, ensuring an optimal level of safety. With comfort and noise level, everything is also fine, but the rolling resistance could be lower.

The tires from Vredestein were the fastest on the wet track thanks to their high lateral grip and excellent maneuverability. Braking performance, however, is no longer as impressive, and on top of that, Vredesteins give in to aquaplaning too quickly. On dry surfaces, the tires confidently hold traction in sharp corners and do not lose it even in the most extreme situations. Comfort and economy are average.

Apollo is participating in Test World for the first time, and their debut turned out to be quite successful - perhaps after the purchase of Vredestein, the company received new developments that they successfully used in the production of tires under their own brand. The Apollo has short braking distances on both dry and wet surfaces, so in these disciplines they were even able to compare with tires much more famous brands. In terms of handling, the Apollo is too sluggish to handle and lose traction easily, but they have a very high ride comfort. All in all, not a bad try, but there are still some shortcomings, and besides, the Apollo has a very high rolling resistance.

The Hankook resists hydroplaning well and has decent braking performance on wet surfaces. In the handling test, the tires still failed to show good result due to weak lateral grip - they lose contact with the road very easily, especially during braking in a corner. In addition to this, Hankook has the highest rolling resistance of the tested tires, and these tires do a poor job of absorbing bumps.

Michelin showed poor handling on wet surfaces, making sharp maneuvers more difficult. Hydroplaning resistance is also one of the weakest of the tested tires, and traction on the front axle is lost extremely quickly, which was reflected in the time of the course. On dry surfaces, Michelins are more confident and reliable, but they have only an average level of comfort, and plus an average rolling resistance.

The Barum performs well in the wet as it has a predictable response and balanced behavior that allows it to show fast lap times. However, in an emergency, these tires behave nervously and can abruptly lose traction on the rear axle. If you make a quick maneuver on dry pavement, Barum respond too slow, and their braking distance in such conditions is one of the longest in the test. Barum also willingly informs the driver about road irregularities, and in terms of rolling resistance, these tires also failed to match the leaders.

Bridgestone's results were the main disappointment of this test. These tires clearly don't have good handling on wet surfaces for a product from such a large manufacturer, and the situation on dry pavement is hardly much better. Bridgestones are slow to respond to steering inputs and can suddenly lose traction, making the vehicle's handling require increased attention. The main advantage of Nankang is a very low noise level. Unfortunately, this is also their only advantage, since in all other disciplines these tires have shown very poor results, and, as the Finns noted, such grip and handling is no longer acceptable for modern tires. Nankangs quickly lose traction in corners and make emergency driving very difficult. Nankangs also hydroplan quickly and have high rolling resistance. All in all, Nankangs are in urgent need of improvement, and these tires cannot compete with the rest, no matter how cheap these Taiwanese tires are.

Although selected for the test Renault tires Duster does not have the size of a large SUV, it needs specific tires. A team of experts from Za Rulem magazine, led by Sergey Mishin, tested 12 sets of popular tires on the market.

Size 215/65 R16 is one of the most popular in the compact SUV segment. Tires in this size are suitable for both Chevy Niva and Volkswagen Tiguan. Since such cars spend most of their time on asphalt roads, the results of the sets on the primer were not taken into account.

The test leader with 963 points was the Nokian Hakka SUV tire, which showed the best rearrangement speed on dry roads. The average cost of a tire provides it with a quite democratic price / quality ratio of 5.3.

Significantly more expensive set of tires Michelin Latitude Diamaris (926 points), located on the second line of the final rating. Za Rulem specialists defined this kit as well balanced and free from flaws. The only exception was its cost, which turned out to be the highest among the tested kits. Price / quality ratio - 6.3.

Pirelli Scorpion Verde occupied the third place according to the results of the points calculation, falling short of the second place by only 1 point. Due to the acceptable cost, Pirelli tires received the best price / quality ratio of 5.0.

Slightly behind the top three are Continental tires (898 points). The tire stands on the line separating excellent tires from just good ones. The cost of the kit is quite high, and therefore the price / quality ratio, like that of Michelin, is 6.3.

In fifth place with 886 points is the model of the Korean manufacturer Hankook - the Dynapro HP tire. With a good price/performance ratio of 6.0, the Korean tire was 1 point ahead of its Japanese competitor from Bridgestone. By the way, tires Dueler H / P Sport (885 points), other things being equal, turned out to be significantly more expensive, for which they received a price / quality ratio of 5.9.

Tires ranked seventh in the test domestic manufacturer Viatti Bosco A/T (868 points). The low cost of tires determined the price / quality ratio equal to 4.3, which, against the background of compatriots who scored no more than 4 in this discipline, is a very successful acquisition.

Eighth place went to Goodyear Efficient Grip SUV with a very high cost, not justified even by the highest speed index. As a result, the price / quality ratio is only 5.9. The Yokohama Geolandar SUV follows with the same price-performance ratio, with a score of 842.

Rounding out the top ten are Amtel Cruise 4X4 tires with a low speed index of 190 km/h. According to the results of the test, this model scored 841 points. According to the price / quality ratio of 3.6, they are called the best buy.

Silently behind the Cordiant All Terrain model with a "toothy" tread. Having scored 834 points in the end, the tires showed a very decent result among asphalt counterparts.

Surprisingly, the Dunlop Grandtrek PT2 tires came in last place. And the point here is not the lowest speed index (180 km / h), but rather the rough structure of Russian asphalt, which is clearly too tough for a Japanese woman.

Tires for compact SUVs are forced to work in more difficult road conditions than their passenger counterparts. The features of such tires are not only their specific dimensions and load capacity indices, but also a reinforced carcass structure. Quite often, such tires are marked with the abbreviation SUV.

About sources and test methods

In tests summer tires season 2013 was attended by tires of different categories, purposes and sizes. This year, in addition to the usual sources (Autoreview newspaper and Za Rulem magazine), the [email protected] website has also been added, which, based on the expert base and the results of the analysis of the German automobile club ADAC, published its material on the assessment of summer tires in size 185/60 R15 . In addition, along with the above, we will additionally consider the results of control measurements of the behavior of a car on tires of dimension 195/65 R15 of the German automotive magazine AutoBild. Now more detailed. Za Rulem magazine rolled out two sizes this year: the outdated 175/75 R13 and the very popular 185/60 R15, while the Autoreview newspaper tested crossover tires 215/65 R16 and high-speed sports-class tires designed for driving at speeds up to 300 km / h, but quite civilian dimension 225/45 R17.

Also in this review, we will analyze the results of the specialists of the Finnish test center Test World, who tested summer tires of dimension (205/55 R16). It is noteworthy that for many years the Autoreview newspaper used their data, but this season the newspaper did not used.

The ADAC club has almost half a century of experience in comparative testing of car tires, followed by an in-depth analysis of the data obtained. This year they tested tires from 19 manufacturers. All these tires are officially presented on the European market and perform in them in the lower and middle price range.

It is noteworthy that since the autumn of last year, new requirements for marking automobile rubber have been in force in the European Union. Each tire must be marked with the rolling resistance class, noise level, wet and dry behavior class of the tire. The requirements have become more serious. And since independent public organizations in Europe, together with specific states, are closely monitoring an honest and objective assessment, manufacturers have upgraded not only future, but also existing tire models. German experts from the ADAC club stated that the tires really got better that year. Moreover, some of the models have added quality very significantly. According to the ADAC club, the strongest summer tire of 2013 was the Michelin tire, which moved the leader of the past years, the Continental tires, although their gap with Michelin turned out to be minimal: they were only slightly inferior to the French tires in terms of resource, which, in principle, is subjective even in laboratory conditions. The tires Dunlop and Goodyear, brotherly to each other, showed themselves very well, which lagged behind the leaders by only half a step, which completely redeems the more democratic price tag. ADAC experts also considered balanced tires produced under the brands Vredestein, Bridgestone and Nokian. Slightly worse were the results of products under the brands Fulda and Semperit. Hankook, Firestone and Pirelli all performed satisfactorily, while tires made by Nexen, GT Radial, Kleber, Marangoni, Rotalla and Sailun failed the ADAC test.

The German publication AutoBild has tested fifty sets of summer tires in size 195/65 R15 this season. In addition, four models of all-season tires were additionally present in the test, but we will not consider them, since they are not applicable in our climate. The experts of the magazine arranged the test itself in two rounds. Fifteen models were awarded the second stage of testing, including summer tires of models: Bridgestone Turanza T001, Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, Dunlop Sport BluResponse Fulda EcoControl HP, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance, Hankook Kinergy Eco K425, Kumho Solus KH17, Michelin Energy Saver +, Nokian Line, Pirelli Cinturato P1, Sava Intensa HP, Uniroyal RainExpert, Viking ProTech II, Vredestein Sportrac 5 and Yokohama C.Drive2 AC02.

Magazine "Behind the wheel"

Za Rulem magazine tested summer tires of two dimensions this year: 175/70 R13 (9 models), among which the winner was Amtel Planet 3 tires, and the losers were Capital-Sport tires. As a starting point in the 175/70 R13 dimension, Za Rulem magazine chose the time-tested Nordman SX tires, which were tested outside the standings and showed excellent results in all important disciplines.

The size 185/60 R14 is called by the experts of the magazine “Za Rulem” the most massive “format” of car tires in Russia. Nokian Hakka Green took the first place among fourteen-inch tires in the test cycle of the publication, and the little-known Contyre Megapolis tires came last.

Later, Za Rulem magazine published the results of testing summer tires for crossovers in the size 215/65 R16, which is identical to the SUV tire category that the Autoreview newspaper chose for the test. It is quite logical, because this is the most popular size among SUVs.

Usually the newspaper "Autoreview" in the test of car tires uses the results of the expert work of the independent Finnish testing center Test World. But a few years ago, along with the main material from Test World, Autoreview again began to publish the results of independent tests of car tires. This year, the Autoreview website does not have an article based on Test World materials, but two of its own tests have been published. One summer tire crossover dimension 215/65 R16, the other passenger car 225/45 R17.

The program of the first test included a wet braking cycle (at least six times), where the Pirelli tires were the best, and the Dunlop tires were the worst; hydroplaning resistance; imitation of a detour of an obstacle on a wet road; emergency braking and “rearrangement” on dry pavement, as well as an assessment of the level of comfort, rolling resistance, and, of course, cross-country ability.

As usual, when building our review, we use the results of the Finnish company Test World. In many ways, the list of measured values is comparable to last season: wet and dry behavior, handling, aquaplaning, rolling resistance...

Amtel Planet 3 - summer tires, test

MODEL FEATURES

The manufacturer claims that the Amtel Planet summer tire with a classic road pattern gives confident control over the car on both dry and wet road surfaces, providing reliability and comfort in all weather conditions.

With two solid center ribs combined with massive studded blocks, Amtel Planet tires provide secure handling and increased exchange rate stability. The directional V-shaped tread pattern most effectively removes water from the contact patch, and two rows of diamond-shaped checkers of different sizes and alternation of different-sized tread pattern steps prevent resonance and reduce noise generation.

TEST RESULTS

In the test of Za Rulem magazine, Amtel Planet 3 summer tires became the winners among 175/70 R13 tires, but despite the leadership position, Amtel tires do not behave reliably in all disciplines. Braking on wet roads is not confident, although there are no problems on dry roads. On straight car tires, Amtel Planet 3 stands confidently, but when changing direction, the reactions are ambiguous, accompanied by delays. But the acoustic comfort of Amtel is at its best. In addition, Amtel Planet 3 summer tires are economical in operation. And yes, they are inexpensive.

Another modification of Amtel Planet tires - Amtel Planet T-301 participated in the "Behind the wheel" test in dimension 185/60 R14, where it took only eighth place. The reason is that many tires of foreign manufacturers of the first and second categories took part in this test, in contrast to the dimension 175/70 R13, where mainly Russian tires competed with Amtel tires. Therefore, in the test of the “senior” group, Amtel tires turned out to be weaker against the background of competitors. Braking on any surface is mediocre, but handling does not cause any comments. However, on this rubber it is especially important to control the speed. It is worth overdoing it, the car abruptly breaks into a slip. In addition, these tires turned out to be quite noisy, unlike the Amtel Planet 3.

BRIDGESTONE Turanza T001 – summer tires, test

MODEL FEATURES

The Bridgestone Turanza T001 is a premium summer travel tire that builds on the best of its predecessor, the Bridgestone ER300, and is even more reliable and agile, especially over long distances and at high speeds. Bridgestone T001 delivers a luxurious driving experience by combining optimal balance between comfort and handling.

The main features of the Bridgestone Turanza T001 tire is that it provides a low noise level, which is achieved thanks to the unique resonator grooves, the noise level is significantly reduced. The manufacturer also claims excellent handling on wet surfaces, reduced rolling resistance, thanks to the use of Nano Pro-Tech technology, which made it possible to improve tire performance on wet roads and reduce rolling resistance.

The Bridgestone Turanza T001 is also claimed to be durable and safe with: - A new angled shoulder that provides a flat contact patch, reducing uneven wear and extending tire life.

The innovative technologies used in the tread design provide maximum handling and safety on the road.

TEST RESULTS

Tires Bridgestone Turanza T001 were tested by the experts of the German magazine Auto Bild. The main strength of these tires, which was highlighted by the German testers, is balance. Both on wet and dry pavement, they performed well from all points of view. With these tires, the car brakes and handles well. The negative feature is the cost of operation. When buying these tires are very expensive, exactly as in operation. They have high wear and rolling resistance, and, consequently, fuel consumption.

Bridgestone Turanza T001 was tested by the ADAC club, the results of which are used by the Internet edition [email protected]. Tires of size 185/60 R15 participated in this test. The summary of the German specialists of the ADAC club was not much different from the results of their colleagues from the AutoBild magazine. The main automobile club in Germany used almost the same wording. The strength of these tires is balance.

The Finnish expert association Test World also got acquainted this season with the Bridgestone Turanza T001 tire. In Finland, Japanese tires took 11th place. Unlike their German colleagues, the Finns were disappointed in this model. First of all, a failure in wet disciplines (braking, handling). Yes, and on dry pavement, competitors turned out to be stronger. As a strength of the tire, Test World testers identified worthy resistance to aquaplaning.

BRIDGESTONE MY-02 Sporty Style – summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

The BridgestoneMY-02 SportyStyle is an all-round sports tire with an attractive appearance and aggressive sporty design that reduces uneven wear and noise levels in city driving.

The manufacturer notes in his product - aggressive tread design saying that the design of the grooves in the form of lightning gives the tire an aggressive appearance, in addition, provides improved water drainage and excellent traction

Bridgestone MY-02 SportyStyle has a low noise level due to the fact that the MY-02 has five, varying in size, randomly arranged shoulder blocks of the tread, which reduces noise

Also, experts note a flat spot of contact between the tread and the road. It provides a constant contact patch width during vehicle operation, which reduces the deformation of the shoulder blocks during side sliding, and, as a result, reduces uneven wear and increases tire life.

TEST RESULTS

The Bridgestone MY-02 Sporty Style tires were tested by Za Rulem magazine in the 185/60 R14 category. In this test, the Japanese tires (although the test tires were made in Taiwan) finished in sixth place. For these tires, the coating is the determining factor. On a wet road, they give in, but on dry pavement they are rehabilitated. Bridgestone tires do not like high speeds. On them, communication with the car is lost more than on other rubber. Ride is not standard. But the acoustic comfort of the tires is acceptable.

Behind the wheel (185/60R14): 6th place

Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 - summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

Continental ContiPremiumContact 5, according to the developers, is an excellent all-round tire that combines comfort and safety at the highest level. it new tire premium class, for cars of various types, from compact models to full-size sedans. Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 features extremely short braking distances on dry and wet roads, low rolling resistance, excellent performance and comfortable handling.

The improved traction of the ContiPremiumContact 5 is achieved through the use of macroblocks for a larger contact patch.

The new geometry of the longitudinal grooves prevents hydroplaning even at high speeds. The flatter contour of the tire contributes to even wear and increased tire mileage, while the cross-shaped groove arrangement reduces noise.

The use of a solid rubber compound in the bead sidewall of the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 makes the tire stiffer and reduces deformation, while the shoulder remains more flexible and helps reduce rolling resistance. Thus, the movement becomes more comfortable

TEST RESULTS

The Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 summer tire is an extremely important product for the European market. Therefore, this model has been tested by almost all reputable publications and laboratories. Among the sources we consider are Test World, ADAC, Za Rulem magazine, and AutoBild magazine. In all tests, this tire performed very well. In the Finnish test, German tires were awarded second place. ADAC testers also gave them second place. Russian colleagues shared their points of view - the second place, but for some reason the journalists of the AutoBild publication sent these tires almost to the end of the list (12th place), although they recognized the high grip properties of tires on any surface, as well as their other advantages.

Dunlop Sport BluResponse summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

So the manufacturer says about his offspring: "DunlopSport BluResponse deserves the best handling epithets", despite the environmental overtones and the corresponding fuel economy. The presence of polymers in the rubber compound allows you to quickly adapt to the road profile, significantly increasing the level of grip. Dunlop's slip threshold is higher; the speed of cornering on wet surfaces is frankly impressive and allows you to feel the rigidity of the shoulder area on the steering wheel.

At the product launch stage, the developers conducted various tests, including the union of independent experts TUV SUD Automotive. Back then, across seven disciplines, Dunlop's Sport BluResponse tires outperformed the competition in most key factors. The braking distance on wet surfaces is three meters shorter than the average tire of other manufacturers, and the grip coefficient is 3% higher than the average result of the test participants. These impressive benefits are complemented by the BA label from the European Attestation Board for exemplary rolling resistance, wet grip and acoustic comfort.

Dunlop Sport BluResponse has been present in the official European dealer network since the beginning of 2013.

TEST RESULTS

The Dunlop Sport BluResponse tire, along with the Continental, is an important model for the European market. In this regard, she, like the tires of the German brand, has been tested by a wide range of publications in Europe. In our case, these are the ADAC club, the Test World committee, and the AutoBild magazine. Again, as with the Continental tires, the Dunlop tires performed well, showing decent results in all disciplines. The ADAC club assigned this rubber 2-4 places, the Finnish TestWorld - the fourth place, and the Germans from AutoBild - the first!

Fulda EcoControl HP – summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

The manufacturer, developing the FuldaEcoControlHP flight tire, sought to reduce the braking distance on dry roads. That being said, it has been possible to achieve reliable handling exactly when it is needed most, as FuldaEcoControl HP tires improve contact with the road during braking; Compared to competitors, the braking distance on dry roads is reduced by up to 3 meters.

It also claims to reduce braking distances on wet roads by up to 2.9 m, thanks to the use of a high silica polymer and the presence of working edges that help ensure contact with the surface even on wet roads. This statement is based on tests conducted by TÜV SÜD Automotive, Garching (Germany) and Mireval (France); tire size 205/55R16 91V; Golf VI 1.6 TDI and 2.0 GTD compared to 3 direct competitors in the middle segment. But the manufacturer does not indicate with whom the comparison was made. AquaFlow grooves quickly drain water during heavy rain.

The manufacturer also claims to reduce the cost of gasoline and reduce CO2 emissions when using FuldaEcoControl HP summer tires. Their high-performance design, combined with EcoTread technology: results in a vehicle wearing EcoControl HP tires requiring less energy to overcome rolling resistance. Independently tested, the rolling resistance of EcoControl HP tires is 9% lower than the competition.

Also, FuldaEcoControl HP organic pressure distribution over the entire tread surface of the tire helps to slow down wear and make it more uniform. The rubber uses components that are resistant to wear, thereby claiming a long tire life.

TEST RESULTS

The German company Fulda presents tires of the second "line". However, despite relatively affordable price, the EcoControl HP performed well. Germans tested FuldaEcoControl HP. The ADAC club gave them a “good” rating, noting their main advantages, such as balance. Their colleagues from AutoBild magazine even honored these tires with the wording “Exemplary!”, Putting them next to Michelin and Nokian. Excellent and relatively affordable tires!

Asymmetric tread geometry with an innovative water flow profile (AquaFlow) provides exceptional handling and shortest braking distances on wet surfaces.

TEST RESULTS

High-speed model of the little-known German company Fulda. Fulda SportControl tires are the second line, but despite this, their behavior surprises with predictability and balance. They are only slightly inferior to tires of the first category. And this is noticeable across the entire model line of the company. Good tires!

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance - summer tires test

MODEL FEATURES

Summer tires Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance, according to manufacturers, are distinguished by the following features, this is category A wet grip, as the highest rating according to EU regulations.

Shorter stopping distance for confident driving

The Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tire uses ActiveBraking technology, which improves tire contact with the road surface, resulting in a shorter braking distance of two meters (8%) when driving on wet roads and 3% when driving on dry roads. At the same time, it claims improved wet braking performance and reduced rolling resistance, due to WearControl wear control technology. What provides optimal combination wet grip performance and low rolling resistance for the life of the tire.

Due to all this, the use of Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance summer tires leads to lower fuel consumption. What is also facilitated by the basic components of the rubber compound created on the basis of FuelSaving technology, the main essence of which is to reduce the level of tire energy dissipation. This results in a 1-8% reduction in rolling resistance, which means improved fuel efficiency and lower consumer costs.

TEST RESULTS

The Goodyear brand is progressing convincingly from model to model. If a couple of years ago their tires were in the group of worthy middle peasants, now they occupy a leading position. Or at least very close to them. Europe is in most cases a market for first-class products, which means that professionals, experts and testers are very interested in the product. All leading European authorities included Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance in this season's test program, where they received the following places: Test World - 1, ADAC - 2-4, and AutoBild - 6.

The independent Finnish organization Test World has evaluated thirteen models of summer tires in the popular size 205/55 R16 V. This organization is owned by Finnish individual entrepreneurs. Test World experts regularly conduct comparative studies and tests for specialized publications, car and tire manufacturers.

This year, experts from an independent organization tested summer tires according to several fundamental criteria. These are, in particular, the braking distance on wet and dry road surfaces, handling on wet roads, hydroplaning resistance and driving performance of the tire on wet and dry surfaces. In addition, TestWorld experts evaluated parameters such as noise level, tire comfort and rolling resistance. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the results of the tests.

13. Nankang ECO-2 GreenSport

In last place were tires from Taiwan, which received a final score of 6.7 points. In almost all disciplines, these summer tires showed very poor results. This is especially true of braking and handling on wet surfaces, which is one of the main parameters of the reliability of summer tires. The Nankang ECO-2 Green Sport tires had the longest wet braking distance and the worst hydroplaning resistance of all models tested.

These tires quickly lose grip in corners, both dry and wet. The main advantages of Nankang tires are only cheap price and low noise level. However, in terms of safety and reliability on the road, the Nankang ECO-2 Green Sport tires noticeably lose out to their competitors.

12. ToyoProxes CF2

Among the test world test failures are the Japanese tires Toyo Proxes CF2 with a total score of 7.3 points. Obviously, these summer tires, despite the inclusion of a large amount of silica in the rubber compound and wide grooves on the tread to reduce hydroplaning, do not tolerate roads covered with a water film. They showed the worst handling on wet pavement, which indicates their poor grip and rapid loss of contact with the road. On dry roads, the Toyo Proxes CF2 tires are more confident and relaxed. Of the advantages of the tire - a fairly low rolling resistance and a high level of ride comfort.

11. Bridgestone Turanza T001

In eleventh place, with 7.9 points, was the novelty of 2012 - summer tires Bridgestone Turanza T001. They feature an asymmetric tread pattern with enlarged grooves and a high silica content in the rubber compound. According to Test World experts, these tires, despite the big name of the manufacturer, provide insufficient controllability and slow response to steering turns, both on dry and wet road surfaces.

Bridgestone tires were among the worst in terms of ride quality, along with the Taiwanese Nankang ECO-2 GreenSport tires mentioned above. In addition, they cannot boast of a high level of comfort. At the same time, the Bridgestone Turanza T001 showed good hydroplaning resistance.

10. Barum Bravuris 2

Tires from Germany Barum Bravuris 2 received a final score of 8.1 points. It is noteworthy that these summer tires performed well in wet road tests, where they boast excellent handling and balanced behavior. But on a dry road, the braking distance of the Barum Bravuris 2 turned out to be the longest among all the models participating in the tests. They behave somewhat sluggishly when turning the steering wheel during fast maneuvers and, in addition, inform the driver about all the unevenness of the road while driving, which ensures a low level of comfort.

9. Michelin Primacy 3

Seventh place in the Test World tests was taken by several tire models at once, scoring the same number of points - 8.2. These are, in particular, tires Michelin Primacy 3 with new, narrower sipes on the tread to increase maneuverability and ensure their minimum deformation in contact with the roadway. Summer tires from the French manufacturer showed confident and predictable behavior on dry pavement.

At the same time, the Michelin Primacy 3 experienced some difficulties in wet testing. These tires are characterized by low hydroplaning resistance, which ensures extremely quick loss of grip during any maneuvers in rainy weather. They showed poor wet handling, average comfort and average rolling resistance.

8. Hankook Ventus Prime2 K115

The Hankook Ventus Prime2 K115 Summer Tire has an asymmetric tread pattern and a predatory design that is geared towards better handling and hydroplaning resistance on wet roads. They also feature a hybrid tread compound designed to reduce fuel consumption. In tests by an independent Finnish organization, these summer tires were the worst in terms of rolling resistance. Despite the high resistance to hydroplaning, on wet roads the Hankook Ventus Prime2 K115 tires do not behave too predictably due to insufficient handling. They often lose contact with the wet road surface when braking in corners.

7Apollo Alnac 4G

Tires from an Indian manufacturer are gradually conquering the European market. The Apollo Alnac 4G features an asymmetric tread design with wide circumferential grooves to effectively wick water away from the contact patch. These tires also use a high silica compound optimized for better grip on wet roads.

Tests have shown that the ApolloAlnac 4G tires behave quite confidently not only on wet, but also on dry road surfaces. They demonstrated a short braking distance on both types of road surface, which indicates an overall good level of grip between the tire tread and the road surface. At the same time, these tires are characterized by high comfort. Among the shortcomings of the ApolloAlnac 4G, only a very high rolling resistance and insufficiently fast response to steering turns were noted.

6Vredestein Sportrac 5

In fifth place are two summer tires - Vredestein Sportrac 5 and Pirelli Cinturato P7, which received a final score of 8.6 points from TestWorld experts. The Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires are notable for having an asymmetric tread pattern that combines rain and conventional tire patterns. This rubber showed in tests the best wet handling of all thirteen models due to excellent lateral grip.

But the wet braking performance of the Vredestein tires is not as impressive, however, their relatively poor resistance to hydroplaning has become noticeable. In tests on dry roads, the behavior of the VredesteinSportrac 5 tire did not raise any complaints - they confidently hold the road even in sharp corners.

5. Pirelli Cinturato P7

The Italian Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires are distinguished by a new tread pattern with four longitudinal grooves to remove water and an original structure using modern polymers and nanoparticles. They demonstrated high braking performance, both on dry and wet roads. Test World experts also noted the excellent hydroplaning resistance of this tire, although in some situations on wet road surfaces, Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires can unexpectedly lose grip too easily. However, in general, the summer tires of the Italian manufacturer guarantee an optimal level of safety. The lowering of the overall score was largely influenced by the rather high rolling resistance.

4. Dunlop Sport Blu Response

Introduced just in time for the upcoming summer season, the Dunlop Sport Blu Response tires finished fourth in the Tes tWorld tests, only slightly behind their competitors. The manufacturer himself refers these tires to the category of "eco-touring". Inspired by Dunlop's experience in motorsports, the tires are formulated with new polymers designed specifically for racing to increase traction on wet surfaces. A new groove configuration has also been designed to minimize the amount of water collecting in front of the tire when riding on wet roads.

Tests have shown the Dunlop Sport Blu Response tire to have excellent braking performance on wet and dry surfaces. Moreover, on a dry road, they generally demonstrated the shortest braking distance. These tires have good hydroplaning resistance, low rolling resistance and acceptable noise levels. The main disadvantage of the Dunlop summer tire was the lack of grip when performing sharp maneuvers and cornering on dry pavement.

An honorable second place was shared by Nokian Hakka Blue and Continental Conti Premium Contact 5 tires (score 9.0). The tires of the Finnish manufacturer, designed specifically for the capricious and unpredictable conditions of the Russian summer, did an excellent job with the tests. They use special lamellas that provide effective moisture removal from the point of contact of the tire with the road into the tread grooves. For greater resistance to aquaplaning, in addition to the main ones, high-speed grooves on the tread were also added. As a result, the Nokian Hakka Blue tires in TestWorld's wet tests demonstrated the best driving performance, along with Goodyear tires.

In terms of dry road performance, they were generally unrivaled among all the tested models. They have good handling and hydroplaning resistance. Experts also noted the low noise level. These predictable and balanced tires, however, showed a fairly long braking distance on dry pavement.

The main features of the Continental Conti Premium Contact 5 tire are massive tread grooves in its shoulder area and special “aqua lamellas”, thanks to which water is more efficiently removed from the contact patch even when the car is driving at high speed. In TestWorld tests, they became the best in several disciplines at once.

In particular, Continental's summer tires demonstrated the shortest wet braking distance and the best hydroplaning resistance of any model tested. Plus, they are distinguished by good handling on all types of road surfaces, have a quiet and comfortable ride. The only negative is, again, a relatively long braking distance on a dry road surface.

The Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance summer tires, which received the highest final score of 9.1 points, were recognized as the test winner by the reputable Test World experts. A key feature of these tires is the use of Wear Control technology, which involves the use of several rubber compounds in the tire structure at once. The inner tread of Goodyear tires is made from a rubber compound with high rigidity and low heat generation. As a result, the inner tread layer provides a higher resistance of the tire to dynamic deformation during vehicle movement, which, in turn, guarantees a more even distribution of external pressure across the contact patch. The top layer of the tread consists of a more elastic rubber compound with a higher content of silica, which allows the tire to more tightly fit the slightest bumps in the roadway, guaranteeing excellent grip on the surface.

Tests have shown that Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance tires have the best wet performance and the lowest rolling resistance. Demonstrating a decent performance in all disciplines, they proved to be very balanced and reliable summer tires, guaranteeing predictable behavior of the car, both on dry and wet road surfaces. The relative disadvantage of Goodyear Efficient Grip tires Performance experts the Finnish organization was named only not the highest resistance to aquaplaning.
