Gas engine Kia Sportage 2.0
on the second and third generations of the popular crossover in Russia, they are completely different power units in design. The second generation of the Korean car is equipped with a G4GC model with a cast-iron block and a timing belt (Beta II) with a capacity of 141 hp. On the third generation Kia Sportage introduced a more sophisticated Theta II series G4KD engine with an aluminum block and a timing chain drive with a capacity of 150 hp. (although in other markets it easily produces 165 hp) Today we will talk about both motors kia sportage.
Sportage 2.0 engine device
2 liter G4GC engine, it is a gasoline atmospheric in-line, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC, water-cooled and timing belt drive. Location in engine compartment longitudinal. The engine has a variable valve timing system on the intake shaft. power unit It has hydraulic lifters, so you don't need to adjust the valve clearance. The motor has a cast iron cylinder block.
2 liter G4KD engine, it is a gasoline atmospheric in-line, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC, water-cooled and timing chain drive. The location in the engine compartment is longitudinal. The engine has a CVVT variable valve timing system on both camshafts. Unfortunately, the motor does not have hydraulic lifters, so valve adjustment is required approximately once every 90-100 thousand kilometers. Aluminum cylinder block.

replacement belt kia Sportage 2.0 must be carried out strictly according to the regulations. A broken belt will lead to bent valves and costly repairs. In the picture above on the intake camshaft pulley is not drawn actuating mechanism phase change (phase shifter), but on the second generation kia sportage it is, although it really was not on the first one.
For a more modern aluminum block motor, the timing drive looks like this. See the photo below.
If you look closely at the picture, you can see that the motor has two chains. The second small one goes into the sump and rotates the oil pump sprocket.

Computer diagnostics of the car
A car is, first of all, a system, a precise mechanism, the operation of which depends on clearly established parameters. Computer diagnostics can give an accurate assessment of the condition of the car. This procedure will help to prematurely identify hidden car breakdowns and determine the wear and tear of the car. Timely prevention can save you a lot of time and money, because it is cheaper to “treat” a problem at the time of its occurrence than when the breakdown begins to progress.
If the diagnostics of the car revealed something, then in most cases a locksmith repair is prescribed. Our experienced craftsmen can carry out repairs of any complexity at affordable prices. It should be noted that we will Kia repair Sportage at a high level of quality, thanks to the use of high-tech equipment and strict adherence to all repair technologies. The cost of services depends on the level of complexity and scope of work.
