The most popular vehicle for traveling on off-road terrain is considered to be all-terrain vehicles, swamp vehicles on tires. low pressure, which perfectly overcome all kinds of obstacles in the form of hills, sand embankments, small water barriers, swamps, etc. Transport of this type is widely used in agriculture, business, construction, laying of gas and oil pipelines, geological exploration, structures of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. A comfortable journey, efficient hunting or fishing in remote waters is also difficult to imagine without a trip on an all-terrain vehicle.

Design features

Oriented for the transportation of people, all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires can be used as cargo vehicles, and residents of the northern regions use such vehicles as a regular personal car. Such demand and wide range application is justified by certain design features of swamps:

  • Low-pressure tires have higher permeability compared to conventional tire pressure, respect the ground;
  • ATVs are used not only for off-road, but also on public roads.
  • Large wheels that can overcome any obstacles on the way;
  • Incredible clearance and softness of tires;
  • Increased area of contact of the wheels with the earth's surface;
  • Ability to adjust tire pressure directly from the cab;
  • Overcoming water obstacles due to the displacement of tires;
  • The ability to disable one or more bridges that block the center and wheel differentials;
  • Availability power unit running on diesel or gasoline;
  • Ease of construction and maintenance, high maintainability and economy in operation.

All this allows all-terrain vehicles on tires with low pressure 4x4 to drive effortlessly on sandy, viscous, water, rocky surfaces. In addition, multifunctional vehicles have a number of undeniable advantages, which include the versatility of the suspension, high cross-country ability, a variety of modifications, high power of the power unit, and cabin capacity.

The nuances of buying an all-terrain vehicle

You can buy an all-terrain vehicle on low-pressure tires in Moscow by contacting our company. We offer big choice passenger, cargo-passenger, cargo swamp vehicles, differing in size and type of construction (additional trailers, increased capacity, addition in the form of platforms, etc.).

Every car owner knows that driving on a perfectly smooth asphalt road is a real pleasure for the driver. But if the road is full of pits and cracks, then the trip turns into torment for both the driver and the car. But if you need to drive through rough, swampy or snowy terrain, then for an ordinary car such a path will surely become an impenetrable obstacle. Tires and suspension designed for city roads will get bogged down in the mud, and then you will only have to rely on the help of a tow truck. If it is necessary to travel long distances over rough terrain, then for this purpose there are special vehicles - all-terrain vehicles.

People who constantly need to travel long distances off-road often come to the decision to purchase such a vehicle that can pass through snow, swamp and sometimes even water. Most often, these people are lovers of hunting and fishing, as well as huntsmen who constantly work in the forests. Snow and swamp vehicles on ultra-low pressure wheels can satisfy all the needs of this kind of people. These ATVs are able to go not only through mud and forest flooring, but also through thick snow and swampy terrain, and ultra-low pressure tires reduce the chances of punctures due to higher ductility and cushioning.

Features of all-terrain vehicles

First of all, vehicles of this class are distinguished by the versatility of the suspension system and high engine power. The suspension in some models is designed in such a way that the all-terrain vehicle becomes an amphibious vehicle, as it is able to move not only on land, but also on water. When choosing an all-terrain vehicle, the main attention should be paid to the following characteristics.

Versatility

To ensure high cross-country ability over all possible obstacles, manufacturers often have to sacrifice something in the design of an all-terrain vehicle, reducing its speed, or capacity.

Obviously, the most versatile will be the vehicle that can pass any rough terrain, including water. But if it is known that the all-terrain vehicle will not be used to cross deep water obstacles, then it is better to choose the model that is most suitable for moving on land.

Tire pressure

Wheels are a very important part of an all-terrain vehicle, since their quality determines whether a puncture will occur during a collision with some sharp snag, after which you will have to at least change the wheel to a spare tire.

Ultra-low pressure tires minimize the chances of punctures, but reduce the maximum speed of the vehicle.

Knowing how dangerous the terrain for the wheels will have to be overcome on an all-terrain vehicle, you should choose wheels of a suitable design.

Capacity

How many people can ride in it directly depends on the number of seats in the cabin of the all-terrain vehicle. It is convenient if you can put a lot of people in a transport, but the more seats there are, the larger and heavier the whole car will be.

If the goal is to choose an all-terrain vehicle model for the huntsman, who constantly travels long distances for professional tasks, then it is better to give preference to a small vehicle with one or two seats. An ATV this small will obviously consume less fuel, which is beneficial in terms of economy.

For a competent choice of an all-terrain vehicle, it is important to know in what conditions it will be used. If the conditions for using the all-terrain vehicle are precisely known, then it is possible to choose the optimal model that will perform all the tasks assigned to it most efficiently.

If the conditions in which the vehicle will have to work are unknown, then a reasonable choice would be to purchase a universal model that can cope with any task.

Overview of popular models

Some models of all-terrain vehicles are most in demand among hunters and fishermen, as they have been tested by practice and time. Firms specializing in the production of such machines have authority in the all-terrain vehicle market, which means that their products have high quality and meets all requirements.

All-terrain vehicles "Max"

There are 3 models of all-terrain vehicles from this manufacturer: the maneuverable two-seater "Max 2", the roomy six-seater "Max 4" and the Buffalo, designed to carry heavy loads.

Being a six-wheeled all-terrain vehicle on low-pressure tires, Max is also amphibious, as it is able to move from land into water without any difficulty and move along it at speeds up to 12 km / h. This is a fairly fast transport for its class, as the speed of its movement on land is up to 75 km/h.

The Max 4 all-terrain vehicle weighs 900 kg and easily overcomes almost any natural obstacles due to the fact that each of the wheels has independent control. This model is a full-fledged snow and swamp vehicle on low-pressure tires, which is a very versatile and indispensable vehicle for those who like to go hunting far from civilization.

All-terrain vehicles "Argo"

In many countries, the most common model from this manufacturer is the 8x8 OutFitter. This eight-wheeled vehicle is also produced in a tracked model. The all-terrain vehicle moves perfectly through forests, as well as rocky, swampy and snowy areas, and at the same time it is an amphibian, therefore it is able to move on water.

A very versatile, but limited in speed, all-terrain vehicle on a caterpillar suspension. The absence of tires means that there is no need to fear a sudden tube puncture, but maximum speed the movement of such transport on land is only 45 km / h. On water, this all-terrain vehicle also does not accelerate much - only up to 4 km / h.

The cabin of the Tinger amphibious vehicle is a closed structure that can accommodate up to 5 people. Riding in such a vehicle is quite comfortable in all weather conditions.

Domestic models "Transmash"

Large tracked all-terrain vehicle, which is produced in Russia. A large closed body can accommodate a dozen people or other bulky cargo. The flotation of the track suspension is undeniable in snow, mud and other forest flooring.

The low-pressure two-wheel all-terrain vehicle is a light and reliable one-seat off-road vehicle. This model has a collapsible design, which allows you to compactly place it in the trunk of many enough roomy cars for transportation.

How to choose the best

When it becomes necessary to purchase a vehicle to move across rough terrain, every hunter or huntsman is faced with a fairly wide choice.

Obviously, for the forest you need to choose an all-terrain vehicle on low-pressure tires, but in some cases the best choice can become a caterpillar suspension. Indeed, in this case, the risk of a tire puncture is completely leveled, since metal parts in forest conditions are much more difficult to damage than rubber.

But it should be noted that all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure wheels are designed in such a way as to comfortably move over rough terrain. And often they are able to reach higher speeds than similar vehicles on a caterpillar suspension, and the probability of getting a puncture in them is actually very small.

When it is known that you will have to drive in very difficult conditions of swampy terrain, snow and swamp vehicles on low-pressure tires come to the fore, as adapted as possible to moving through a viscous bog and snow. If the hunter likes to travel alone, then there is no point in acquiring large and heavy vehicles either, since he will consume much more resources, and his additional features will not be used.

You will find a comparative test of ultra-low pressure tires in our video.

ATVs - great option for lovers of hunting or fishing. The high cross-country ability of vehicles makes it possible to reach remote hunting grounds where interesting prey is found. It is also difficult to do without all-terrain vehicles for people who live in areas with high humidity or close proximity to groundwater. All-terrain vehicles make it easier to move around swampy areas and in the spring, when a large amount of snow melts.

All-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires provide excellent flotation even in the most difficult climatic conditions, but, unlike tracked vehicles, consume significantly less fuel.

Advantages of all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires

Wheeled all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires have a lot of advantages, so they are very popular with people. Various equipment cars allows you to make vehicles with different purposes. Homemade models can be equipped not only with standard devices, but also with additional equipment that will fully meet the needs of the customer. Benefits Vehicle It should be noted:

  1. The ability to operate the car in places with weak soil. Wheeled all-terrain vehicles are allowed to be used for movement on the tundra due to the fact that the soil is not destroyed, and the fertile layer is not removed.
  2. Ability to travel on public roads. Unlike tracked all-terrain vehicles technicians with low tire pressure does not spoil the asphalt and can be used to move around populated areas.
  3. Comfortable interior, which can be retrofitted with all necessary appliances (stove, air conditioning, heaters, etc.).
  4. Repair availability. Almost all ATVs are made up of affordable parts that are easy to find and replace.
  5. Profitability. Most all-terrain vehicle models consume a little more powerful jeep, thanks to which the maintenance and operation of an all-terrain vehicle does not require large material costs.

Varieties of all-terrain vehicles

Each all-terrain vehicle has its own purpose. If all-terrain vehicles must have one design for swampy terrain, then a different type of car is needed to overcome water obstacles. There are four main types of technology.

  1. swamp walkers. Most often used for trips through swampy areas in order to drain territories. The technique allows you to do geo-prospecting in wetlands and lay various pipelines.
  2. Snowmobiles. In areas where snow lies most of the year, it is advisable to have equipment that can go through an impressive snow cover. All-terrain vehicles with ultra-low tire pressure are indispensable for residents of the Far North.
  3. Amphibians. If there are a large number of water obstacles on the territory, then a specially designed car will not only help to overcome them, but also make it as comfortable as possible. Some types of all-terrain vehicles are also capable of swimming.
  4. . The machines are designed in a special way, due to which they combine the properties of previous types and are distinguished by high cross-country ability in any conditions. If when purchasing a car there is no specific purpose for an all-terrain vehicle, then it is better to buy a universal car and, if necessary, upgrade it. Often among this category there are cars with a breaking frame. Such vehicles are effective when traveling over very uneven terrain, where the front and rear wheels can be on different planes. There are self-made all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires with a breaking frame that have increased functionality and carrying capacity.

By purpose, all-terrain vehicles can be divided into:

  1. Passenger. ATVs can carry up to 15 people, thanks to which the movement of people in difficult climatic conditions is carried out.
  2. Cargo-passenger. Typically, all-terrain vehicles that are manufactured at the factory have cargo compartment and 4 passenger seats. The machines are easy to operate and have a fairly large load capacity.
  3. Freight. Cars can only carry goods.

Homemade all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires can have different equipment.

There are small double all-terrain vehicles with a lightweight frame, which are designed for hunting or fishing trips, and huge vehicles that can accommodate a large number of people and cargo. Since the functionality of self-made vehicles is determined only by the designer and the owner, it is almost impossible to review them.

Examples of all-terrain vehicles

All-terrain vehicles that are produced in factories have their own characteristics and are presented in a large assortment. There are many domestic and foreign models that are in high demand in Russia. Depending on the purpose and equipment, the cost of vehicles can vary from several hundred thousand rubles to several million.

The domestic model can reach speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour and has 53 horsepower under the hood. The body is made of durable polyethylene and can be used in temperature regime from -40 to +40 degrees Celsius. The amphibious all-terrain vehicle has a small carrying capacity, therefore it is designed for hunting, fishing and nature trips.

TREKOL 39041

An improved version of the UAZ, which has a high cross-country ability due to wheels with low pressure tires. Unlike a homemade all-terrain vehicle on low-pressure tires, the model is characterized by increased strength and reliability. The all-terrain vehicle can be supplied with petrol or diesel engine. The car has a speed of up to 70 km/h and can accommodate up to 450 kg of cargo on board. The disadvantage of the model is its cost. IN standard equipment an all-terrain vehicle costs from 1,950 thousand rubles.

TREKOL 39445

The fiberglass body has additional insulation, thanks to which the machine can be operated in a temperature range from -60 to +60 degrees Celsius. On the ground, the machine can accommodate up to 700 kg of weight on its board, and up to 400 kg on the water. gasoline engine ZMZ - 40905.10 is 2,630 thousand rubles, and on a diesel engine Hyundai D4BH 3,060 thousand rubles.

The famous American amphibious all-terrain vehicle, which is designed to freight traffic. Under the hood, the all-terrain vehicle has 300 horsepower. An all-terrain vehicle can cover up to 500 km without additional refueling.

Ask anyone and they will tell you that there are two main types of ATVs: wheeled and tracked ( air cushions, auger cars and other exotics do not count). With the individual or small-scale creation of such equipment, aimed at purely civilian use, cars with wheels are more common. And vice versa: models mastered by industry, including for military needs, are more often tracked. However, there are samples that, according to my classification, are somewhere in the middle. We are talking about wheeled vehicles with an onboard turning principle. To change the direction of movement, the right or left propellers are slowed down or completely blocked - everything, like in tracked vehicles. Equipped with wheels with ultra-low pressure tires, such all-terrain vehicles do not leave behind ruts-scars that do not heal for decades. And at the same time, they have high maneuverability, because they are able to turn around literally on the spot. One example of such equipment is the Sever all-terrain vehicle by Mikhail Balboshin from Severodvinsk.

In order for the "side-turning" machine to change direction, its wheelbase should not be too large, so that the resistance to turning is not excessive. Therefore, in the "North" the distance between the outer circumferences of the wheels is noticeably smaller than their diameter. However, first things first.

The all-terrain vehicle has a steel load-bearing body-boat, the upper part is assembled from aluminum panels made of D16T alloy

This machine uses tires "Trom-16" with a dimension of 1650x570, designed for the Surgut eight-wheeled all-terrain vehicle of the same name. Thanks to their outer diameter of more than half a meter (one of the largest models in the industry), they have earned well-deserved popularity among amateur designers. In the original, these tires have often located transverse ribs that work as lugs, and also come into contact with the drive roller, which transmits torque to them. It is this solution that is used on Troma, which we will describe in detail some other time on the pages of the magazine - although it is not home-made, it is really curious from a technical point of view. On the “North”, the drive is more traditional, through the axle shafts, so the tread can be “thinned out” a little. Remove part of the transverse ribs, more precisely - through one. The tire will become lighter, which will have a positive effect on cross-country ability, because when building a machine designed for operation on weakly bearing soils, they fight for every kilogram.

It should also be noted that Trom-16 is not the only possible variant"shoes" for the "North". At first, it was equipped with Sherp tires, distinguishing feature which are the most powerful lugs about 100 mm high, and the name of this rubber unequivocally refers us to an all-terrain vehicle that has received wide popularity in certain circles of "rogues". Moreover - at first glance, the "North", due to a similar layout, is perceived precisely as a "Sherp". For those who are not in the know: this is the name of the car created by the designer from St. Petersburg Alexei Garagashyan. He began his activity and for many years acted as a do-it-yourselfer (the first mention of his work is all-wheel drive motorcycle for travel, was in the magazine "Modeler-constructor" in a report on the show "Motosam-90", see No. 2-1991). However, recently his extraordinary ideas have interested those who decided to put the production of all-terrain vehicles on stream. As a result of such cooperation, Sherpas are now mass-produced and even find their customers, despite the greatly inflated (this is not only my opinion) price.

But back to the "North": how did it happen that outwardly he is practically the twin brother of the "Sherpa"? Everything is simple. Garagashyan did not make a secret of the project, and Mikhail Balboshin took the appearance of the St. Petersburg all-terrain vehicle as the basis for his own. And the design of both machines have a lot in common. However, there are also significant differences.

There are only two seats in the car, the control is carried out with the help of levers.

So, on the sides on the right and left are huge wheels. How to organize the entrance of the crew to the passenger compartment of the car? It definitely won't work on the side. In the “North”, the driver and his neighbor-passenger - and the all-terrain vehicle, in fact, is a two-seater, since it has only two seats - get inside through the sash in the front of the body. To do this, you must first take up windshield. If it is warm, there is no rain, and hordes of blood-sucking brethren do not hang in the air, waiting for their prey, then it is pleasant to ride with the “visor” thrown back. In bad weather, it is covered, of course, and there is even a wiper blade. And in the cargo-and-passenger compartment, which occupies the main volume of the cabin, you can find yourself climbing over the backs of the seats, or use a separate entrance arranged in the rear board. It is much wider than the front one, and is equipped with a ladder door. True, fellow travelers, if any, will have to sit on the lid engine compartment or sit on things sketched in the back.

Of course, there is no familiar steering wheel in front of the driver. However, tracked vehicles also meet the steering wheel automotive type. But here everything is the old fashioned way: two levers, and which one you pull, you turn in that direction. The more you push the lever towards you, the sharper the turn. And if you pull both at once, the all-terrain vehicle stops. As you might guess, this is a brake replacement. Interestingly, the clutch can not even be squeezed out, since the transmission will be disconnected from the engine in the onboard turning mechanism.

Each control lever is connected cable drive with its own - right or left - side clutch. Here lies one of the important differences from the Sherpa. The control system of the latter uses a hydraulic drive, and in the "North" it is completely mechanical, but also quite light. It is equipped with a modified on-board turning mechanism of serial production from the GT-SM GAZ-71, popularly affectionately referred to as a "gas engine". This circumstance favorably distinguishes this car from many other similar schemes built by amateurs. The vast majority of do-it-yourselfers, when designing "side-turning" vehicles, use a conventional conical automotive differential. (By the way, Garagashyan also started with it.) Brakes are put on the axle shafts and ... that's it - the transmission is ready!

However, using a differential is not the most the best way, since this mechanism divides, as is known, the torque supplied to it in half, distributing it along the semiaxes. Accordingly, when turning an all-terrain vehicle with such a device in the design, a loss of power is inevitable: part of it will be unproductively extinguished by the brake mechanism, and the thrust on the movers of the incoming side will decrease. A full-fledged onboard turning mechanism, which first opens the drive to the axle shaft, and only then slows it down to a complete stop, this significant disadvantage deprived.

The torque from the engine is converted into five-speed gearbox from the VAZ-2110 with a standard cable-operated gear shift. Instead of a differential, there is a blind shaft, so all power is transmitted to only one drive. The box is rotated 90 degrees, because the engine - a turbocharged diesel Kubota V1505-t (44 hp) - is installed longitudinally.

The power unit consists of a Kubota V1505t diesel engine with an HP 44 power. and a five-speed gearbox from the VAZ-2110 The torque is transmitted to the wheels by open chains, there is a simple automatic tension mechanism.

All of the listed set of units is placed in a sealed boat body with a steel frame and steel lining. From below, the thickness of the sheets is 3.2 mm. And from above, for the sake of relief, the body is assembled from D16T alloy panels riveted onto a spatial frame. The bottom of the car is absolutely flat, which is very good for off-road driving - if you catch any obstacle, you will slide over it like on a ski.

The wheel drive is also hidden inside. Having removed the raised floors in the cabin, you can see powerful open chains stretching along the sides. Through them, each wheel, more precisely, the drive shaft of its onboard reduction gear, borrowed from the same GAZ-71, is connected to the axle shaft of the corresponding side.

At one end, it is connected through splines to the onboard clutch, and at the other, it rests on a bearing mounted on the side wall of the body. A pair of chain drive sprockets sits rigidly on the shaft, rotating the front and rear wheels, respectively. Spring-loaded shoes provide the necessary chain tension. Of course, long open chains rewinding inside the body do not contribute to the creation of acoustic comfort in the cabin, but both the engine and transmission are inside a solid, protected and sealed capsule from below. So, we can hope that all the vital units of the all-terrain vehicle are invulnerable to the misfortunes of serious off-road.

The motor is located approximately in the middle of the car, it is cooled by antifreeze, which in turn is cooled in the radiator, placed on the starboard side and covered from the outside with a decorative grille. Since there can be no natural airflow with this arrangement, the electric fan almost always works.

The power unit and transmission are under raised floors made of thick waterproof plywood, so the interior of the all-terrain vehicle has a neat, residential look inside. Closer to the back, between the floor and the bottom, so that useful space does not disappear, a capacious locker is equipped, in which you can put a lot of camping equipment, and it will not fly around the cabin - the all-terrain vehicle does not have suspension, and only large soft wheels amortize the passage of bumps . Having stood up with your feet in this “underground”, you can straighten up in the car to your full height, which is also not bad. And lifting its covers up, to the level wheel arches, and fixing them on the lateral support skids, we get an excellent flat bed measuring 2300x2200 mm. Bulky things remain below, and wide shelves above the arches, separated by low partitions, will take care of all sorts of little things. You can spend the night together on an impromptu bed with exceptional comfort, and if you make room, then the three of you will succeed. Even in winter you will not freeze, because the car is equipped with autonomous heater Webasto with a power of 2 kW. Additional comfort is promoted also by a covering of panels by a heater 20 mm thick.

The wheel inflation system deserves special mention. She is extremely original here and her authorship also belongs to Alexei Garagashyan. It is obvious that it is not an easy task to “stuff” such voluminous wheels - a very efficient compressor or low pressure pump is required. But Aleksey came up with the idea of pumping into the wheels not air, as everyone does, but ... exhaust gases from the engine. To do this, you need to press a small pedal to block the exhaust tract and direct the exhaust to the wheels. And in less than a minute, because the section of the pumping hoses is as much as 38 mm, it is possible to raise the pressure in all four wheels (their volumes are constantly combined) from zero to working 40 - 60 g / cm2. The control of such insignificant values is carried out by a medical manometer, fixed on the left pillar of the cab in front of the driver's eyes.

At first glance, the idea is rather controversial, even crazy, and many immediately have a question: are exhaust gases harmful to rubber? All our knowledge suggests otherwise, and it is difficult to answer unambiguously. Aggressive gases certainly do not benefit her, shortening the service life - this is a fact. The problem of removing condensate from the propulsors, which probably accumulates inside them, also remains unresolved. Also, the system in which their volumes are interconnected casts doubt on the survivability of the machine in the event of serious damage to any tire. Once I witnessed a situation when, having propped a wheel on a sharp root, the driver of the all-terrain vehicle did not waste time, but drove on, turning on the exhaust pumping. As a result, the hose warmed up from hot gases quite quickly was simply torn off the disk of the damaged wheel. I had to stop and patch the tire. However, one must be completely honest: not a single real case of tire damage from such “bullying” has been recorded either in the “North” or in the “Sherpa”.

I will not argue that wheeled all-terrain vehicles with an onboard turning principle are widespread, but do-it-yourselfers turn to this arrangement regularly. Everything is explained by the relative simplicity of the design, which does not require steering and controlled drive axles. It is quite easy to implement the formula not only 4x4, but also 6x6 or even 8x8, which have very enviable traction characteristics. The "North" has only four wheels, but what! Today, the opportunities for fans of self-construction of vehicles "for themselves" have expanded many times over. You can buy anything! Although no - Sherp wheels, if you do not have such an all-terrain vehicle, they will not sell you. But "Trom-16" - please! You can’t call such a budget purchase, of course, but here everyone is free to decide on their own, it all depends on the presence of ideas in their heads. And Sever, in my opinion, is one of the worthy options for investing funds for its intended purpose. The car really worked.

For confident movement through the swamps, you need to adjust the pressure in the tires. On the "North" ego occurs quickly thanks to the original system for pumping exhaust gases to all four wheels at the same time. Operating pressure 40-60 g/cm2

Today, in many programs about hunting, travel, tourism and extreme recreation, you can see a unique vehicle - all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires.

This technique is easy to recognize huge wheels, incredible ground clearance and unique cross-country ability. This is the best option for moving on sand, sticky ground, rocky surfaces and water.

A bit of history

The first all-terrain vehicles were presented by the Christie tank. A few years later, on the basis of this model, more high-speed versions appeared.

Their advantages include versatility and excellent cross-country ability. Such a technique felt confident on a hard surface (wheels were connected to work), and off-road (caterpillars helped).

But time has shown that tracked vehicles are far from the best option.

Motorists have noticed that when the pressure inside the tire decreases, the area of \u200b\u200bcontact between the wheel and the ground increases. As a result, the cross-country ability of the vehicle increases.

For example, on some trucks(Urale-4320, GAZ-66 and others) the driver can adjust the pressure in the wheel based on the situation on the road.

Sometimes SNDs with a special tread are used, which improve all-terrain qualities.

The peculiarity of special tires is their greater width and softness when compared with conventional tires.

Today, ultra-low pressure tires are becoming more and more popular. But there is one big downside. Installation of such wheels is possible only on special equipment. If you want to put them on your car, you will have to make a serious alteration.

Main types

Depending on the scope, design features and purpose, all-terrain vehicles are of several types.

They show themselves well in swampy areas and find their application in agriculture when draining wetlands.

In addition, such devices are very useful in the construction of roads, oil and gas pipelines, as well as geological exploration.

They do well in snowy areas. These are reliable helpers for fishermen, hunters and travelers. They are suitable for the transport of goods and replace personal transport residents of the northern regions.

Able to overcome any obstacles. For them, dirt, stones, snow and even shallow rivers are not a problem.

“Sharpened” for overcoming deep obstacles, even under the condition of complete immersion. For example, amphibious earth-moving machines are very popular today, which cope with their tasks in any terrain.

Design features

All-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires have a unique cross-country ability, primarily due to an unusual approach to the design and lower pressure inside the tire. In this case, the contact patch is one third or one fourth of the entire surface of the tire.

By increasing the contact area, the load on the soil is also reduced, which is very important for agricultural equipment.

When inflating tires, it is necessary to be guided so that the pressure difference (between ultra-low and low) is about 0.3 MPa.

As for amphibious all-terrain vehicles (we have already mentioned them), their floating properties are provided by special fillers in tires.

At the same time, the bottom of such cars is absolutely sealed. If it is necessary to increase the speed of movement, wheels are connected to the case, but, of course, water cannons are more effective.

In addition, all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires have a special articulated frame.

This design feature allows the wheels to take any position relative to each other (it all depends on the characteristics of the machine itself).

The use of articulated frames allows you to improve the maneuverability of equipment and minimize the likelihood of its overturning.

All-terrain vehicles on wheels may have two or three axles. In the first variant, all wheels are driving. Moreover, in each of them there is the possibility of blocking the center and interwheel differential.

Another feature of such systems is the ability to disable one of the bridges. If you need a large cross-country ability, then it is better to give preference to three-axle cars with a 6x6 system.

Or four bridges with an 8x8 system.

As for the main unit, all-terrain vehicles with low-pressure tires can have both a carburetor and a diesel engine.

The diesel version is more suitable for medium and large-sized vehicles, and the carbureted version is more suitable for small all-terrain devices designed for hunting or fishing enthusiasts.

Types of all-terrain vehicles on low-pressure tires

All-terrain vehicles with SND differ in their functional purpose.

They are:

  1. Passenger. This technique is designed to transport people in the amount of up to 15 people;
  2. Cargo-passenger. The peculiarity of such all-terrain vehicles is that they can accommodate both passengers (up to four people) and cargo (a special trailer, platform is provided for these purposes);
  3. Freight. They have their own trailer and a special platform for transporting various goods.

Domestic and foreign models of all-terrain vehicles

Today on automotive market all-terrain vehicles with low-pressure tires are presented in many models. Let's look at some of them.

Automotive market of the Russian Federation.
