6x6 pickups. Six-wheeled SUVs. Off-road camper on the Mercedes-Benz Zetros chassis

Dalbo Volvo XC60

Let's get creative. Imagine you suddenly go crazy, but at the same time you have 101,000 euros. And so, you decide to buy yourself a car that matches your madness. What to choose? How about a three-wheeled Volvo XC60 pickup truck from Dalbo Fordonsteknik. Six wheels, low-profile tires on chrome rims and a large cargo compartment. A dream, not a car. Oh, looks like madness is contagious...

Off-road camper on chassis Mercedes-Benz Zetros

Two businessmen from Central Asia sponsored the “Lux tuning” of the Zetros extreme truck and as a result received real off-road monsters stuffed with the latest technology and equipped in the Lux style. Both Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6x6 trucks were recently delivered to customers in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. According to sources, one businessman owns a brewery, and the second is involved in the coal industry.

Convini C6

The 2-seater Italian sports car will be hard to miss on the road, because it has not 4, but 6 of the usual wheels. Engineers motivate this particular arrangement with the lower risk of losing control of the car in case of a puncture front wheel, reduced aquaplaning, improved traction and even reduced braking distance. But the funny thing is the fact that the car took an almost incredibly long time to design.

Rinspeed Dock & Go

Specialists from the Swiss studio Rinspeed wonder why cars are most often equipped with two axles rather than three? The result was what we see now - a redesigned Smart ForTwo, which was equipped with a Dock+Go backpack on its own wheels. According to the creators, the beauty is that the “attachment”, which is rigidly attached to the stern, can be used whenever you need it. Also this luggage compartment can be adapted to specific needs. For example, equip it with heating if the car serves as a pizza delivery vehicle.

Triaxial Nissan Patrol

But this three-axle monster-like Nissan Patrol was made for one of the Arab sheikhs. Completely mediocre design

Range Rover 6x4 pickup

There are also such modifications to old Range Rovers. A poor cargo body was attached to the shortened car...

Limousine on Range base Rover Sport

Hummer H2 Ultimate Six

Very cool three-axle Hummer. Although, however, such cars have become almost widespread on Russian roads!

Hummer-Royce

Somehow you can call this miracle. The three-axle Hummer (remember about the mass appeal?) was given a front end from a Rolce Royce. Well, they turned out to be miserable...

Mercedes-Benz G63AMG 6x6

In the Austrian city of Graz, a division of the Mercedes-Benz concern created two unusual 6-wheeled, three-axle pickup trucks with all-wheel drive. The cars were called G 63 AMG 6x6. The basis for this unusual project is the ageless Gelendvagen (SUV). Mercedes-Benz G-Class), or more precisely, its AMG version. Without any significant modifications, the AMG V8 engine (544 hp, 760 Nm) was borrowed for the 6-wheel pickup truck. automatic transmission AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-tronic and front axle drive system. Scheme of two rear axles It’s also not new - 6-wheeled versions have been built before, and they have even proven their reliability (in particular, they are used in the Australian army).

UAZ-3909 with a 6x6 wheel arrangement

This is already the second project, more budgetary. The first such car was made for a specific person and immediately after the work was completed it left for Bryansk (there was simply no time for photos).

In short, I wanted the same thing (in the future I want to try it as a technique at competitions). The car has been under construction for almost a year now (because I’ve been working on it in my free time, and there’s almost NO time). Let me make a reservation right away: I tried to make the project as functional as possible, and most importantly, budget-friendly. Therefore, I had to constantly restrain the ardor of my raging fantasy. Oh well! Here's what happened:

MOTOR UAZ 6x6

I wanted 409, but at the last moment I changed my mind and left the proven UMZ 4213 (injection)
Seasoning it all with brain firmware and the right generator from the Audi A6

TRANSMISSION UAZ 6x6

I guess this is the most unique and interesting part of this car:
The wheel formula is (6x4!), one of these days it will be “six by six”

Tselenie-Gaz 53 (for me it is the most reliable)
The 4st gearbox is not synchronous (for me it is the most reliable)
Razdatka (already finishing) lowering 3.0, as well as a modified shaft exiting under the THIRD BRIDGE.
Additional Cardan - from "Partiot" with suspended support on the 2nd bridge

BRIDGES UAZ 6x6

In principle I wanted a “spicer”, but they turned out to be a bit expensive.
Therefore, another collective farm bridge rolled up.
ALL! The bridges are equipped with self-blocks.
Coercion?! Budget and budget again...

DRIVING UAZ 6x6

I didn’t skimp here: In place of the old “pig”
ADS-ovsky stood up, and at the same time they scalded and increased the low thrust.

SUSPENSION UAZ 6x6

No changes here, except for the extended frame.
Stock springs with a spacer between the axle.
Amory "Plaza sport"

BODY UAZ 6x6

The entire cabin is cut around the perimeter; the edging is reinforced with a profile
Livt-100mm
The interior is lined with aluminum
I was too lazy to make a bumper - I bought it at SPRUT
Winch-Come UP 9500

Tuning the UAZ 6x6 interior

If a car is called a “hunter’s dream,” then the interior must live up to this name.

The interior was all oiled and lined with aluminum (and I can’t stand any noise). Leather ones are also installed! seats. This is so that you can climb wet and dirty without worrying about the safety of the interior. I also installed Mayfun - it’s much more pleasant to knead mud while listening to music. There are plans to install electric windows.

Snorkel on UAZ-3909 6x6

With three bridges you can go far, and most importantly, go deep. And constantly taking in cool air from the street is much more pleasant than stale and heated air from under the hood. Therefore, the issue of installing a snorkel was not even discussed. The design uses a proven PVC pipe with a diameter of 76mm. For ease of maintenance, I left the original jar, placing it on the outside.

View from the pit on the UAZ-3909 6x6

I would like to take this opportunity to show you what we have under the frame.

How is the third bridge installed? How is the frame extended? How is the exhaust done? I’ll make a reservation right away: I REALLY don’t like how the shock absorber mounts for the third axle turned out. They DO NOT WORK AT ALL! I recommend paying attention to my mistake of those who like to install dual shock absorbers on rear axle(almost everyone does this and thinks they are right!). As soon as I gather the strength, I will definitely redo it. You will find many interesting questions in the photo:

Tuning transfer case for UAZ-3909 6x6

Now I have a free week (THAT'S WHAT I CALL A VACATION). I'll try to finish the distribution. Otherwise I keep going and trying and it just doesn’t work out. Now I’ve washed everything, bought what’s missing, and in short, the work is progressing. The photo shows the stock axle shaft (bottom) and the custom axle shaft with access to the third bridge (top):

In order to confidently turn THREE bridges in shit, you need a specific lowering. I wanted 4.2 (I had no idea how it gets up, but I really wanted it), but the Moscow hucksters charged 45,000 (FORTY FIVE!) kilorubles, thereby discouraging all desire to own this device . And since I already had a set of Octopus lowering gear 3.0, I decided to install it... The donor was Hunter's transfer case.

In order to tighten the lowering, you have to saw the rods and forks. Yes! By the way! To ensure that the lowering unit NEVER flies out, past the deepening of the groove-retaining ball, I also change the stock-shit fork of the lowering unit with a reinforced fork from a helical transfer case (you can see the advantage in the photo). Almost everything is ready: all that remains is to install the bearing and rod plugs, lock the shank nuts, etc.

For armored personnel carriers or all-terrain vehicles, having six wheels can be considered the norm, but when it comes to cars that can be seen on the roads every day, this seems incredible. However, there are at least six passenger cars and sports cars that move on six wheels. You don’t often see these on the highway, but vivid impressions are guaranteed.

1. Panther 6

The exotic convertible was created by British engineers in 1977. and was planned for small-scale production. The 8.2 liter engine could accelerate the car to enormous speeds, and the increased number of wheels increased the quality of grip on the road when cornering. However, over the entire period, only 2 orders were received, and, as a result, only two cars of this brand were created (white and black).

2. Tyrrell P34

This car is the only six-wheeler that started in Formula 1 racing. The car was introduced in 1974, and began racing in 1976, winning one of the stages (Swedish Grand Prix). For the Tyrrell P34, especially small 10-inch wheels were created that were installed at the front (the rear wheels were of normal sizes).

The idea of the creators was that small front wheels reduced drag, and an additional pair of them was installed to improve the contact patch with the road surface and provide high-quality braking. The main problem of this car there were long pit stops at the races and very expensive cost wheels (they were made to special order).

3. Mercedes-Benz G63 6x6 AMG

The basis of this vehicle is the three-axle chassis of an army vehicle. V-8 engine, 44 hp, with 2 turbochargers. Despite the fact that the car weighs 3850 kg in running order, it can travel at a speed of 160 km/h. The interior is made according to the Mercedes G63 AMG standard.

4. Covini C6W

Designer Ferrucci Covini conceived this car back in 1970, but was able to bring his idea to life only in the early 2000s. In this car, the designers were able to solve many of the problems that are typical for 6-wheel designs. So the electronic locking system and modern materials Problems solved for brakes brake system.

Ferrucci Covini believed that he had created a car with clear advantages in comfort and handling, and for sports cars that would be produced individually, design complications were not significant. Vehicle weight – 1200 kg, suspension – independent for all 6 wheels, V8 engine – volume -4.2l, power 380 hp, maximum speed – 300 km/h.

5. Nautilus Car

For the filming of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a Nautilus Car was created, which was 6.7 m long and 2.74 m wide. The LandRover chassis and engine were taken as the basis. The snow-white body of the Nautilus Car was decorated with metal figures in the Victorian style. The interior is decorated with natural beige leather. Wheels are 24 inches in size.

6. TRECOL-39394

This 6-wheeled floating all-terrain vehicle Russian production has tires low pressure and has a switchable four-wheel drive with 2-speed transfer case and a lockable center differential. Dimensions: length -5.67 m, width - 2.54 m, height - 2.715 m. TREKOL-39394 is available in both a passenger version (capacity 8 people) and a cargo version (load capacity up to 700 kg).

Most of the units and components of the all-terrain vehicle are borrowed from production GAZ and UAZ vehicles. Power units can be in 4 versions, 2 of which are gasoline, and 2 are diesel ( produced by Hyundai). Maximum speed which TRECOL-39394 can develop on the road is 70 km/h. The price of a new all-terrain vehicle (even at minimum configuration) starts from 2,950,000 rubles, which makes these vehicles inaccessible for mass consumption.
