Operating manual for Zid 50 pilot. History of ZID mopeds: production, conceptual and racing models. Price and annual maintenance cost

Plant named after V. Degtyarev, better known to us as ZiD, was founded during the First World War. It was then that the first buildings of the Kovrov Machine Gun Plant began to be erected in Kirov. Many years later, in 1946, he began producing motorcycles. Many probably remember the legendary K-125, Kovrovets and, of course, Voskhod. And the very first small-capacity motorcycle of the Kovrov plant came off the line only in the nineties of the last century. It was a ZiD-50 Pilot model.

The first swallow

The ZiD-50 “Pilot”, which appeared on domestic roads in 1995, became the first moped of this plant. And four years later, another batch with a raised wing in front was released in Kirov. It was called "Active". And although it was, like the “Pilot,” two-stroke, there was a significant difference: it differed from its ancestor in the presence of an original plastic body kit in the style of cruisers. In 2004, this version was slightly improved, creating the ZiD-50-01, which had a four-stroke Chinese engine on board Lifan brands with power 2.72 horsepower.

It is noteworthy that this model used a semi-automatic clutch, as a result of which its handle disappeared. Like the ZiD-50 “Pilot” moped, it was also intended for tourist and business trips. Also vehicle Suitable for walking on a variety of surfaces.

ZiD-50 "Pilot" - technical characteristics

It is equipped with a two-stroke 50cc engine with 3.5 horsepower. Small in size, it reaches a maximum speed of up to 50 km/h, while consuming on average up to 2.2 liters per hundred km. This moped weighs seventy-six kilograms. It was originally equipped with a three-speed gearbox combined with the engine into one unit.

Judging by the reviews, the ZiD-50 “Pilot”, which is still not uncommon on our roads today, is most suitable for short trips. It is preferred by those who like to feel the adrenaline and whistling wind. ZiD-50 “Pilot” is suitable for all age categories. It is simply indispensable for those who want to gain initial skills for riding two-wheeled vehicles with a motor.

In addition, the ZiD-50 “Pilot” is very unpretentious in repair. It is equipped with rearview mirrors and turn signals. Thanks to the cubic capacity of the engine, you can ride this legendary moped without a driver's license.

Flaws

Like any other vehicle, the ZiD-50 “Pilot” is also characterized by both its advantages and disadvantages. Its very first disadvantage is the weak shock absorption and not very strong frame, which are especially noticeable off-road and when jumping on potholes.

In addition, the headlight of the ZiD-50 “Pilot” is intended only for detection on the road. And also, according to some, the shape of the seat is not entirely comfortable: after a long ride the body becomes very numb.

Three-wheeled cargo moped ZiD - intended for use in private households. On paved roads, including dirt roads, compact cargo tricycle capable of carrying up to 100 kg of cargo. On straight sections, the vehicle reaches a maximum speed of 50 km/h, while with a load the manufacturer recommends sticking to speed limit 30 km/h.

Model ZiD 50-02 is equipped with gasoline engine internal combustion Lifan 1P39FMB-C, with fuel supplied through a carburetor. Engine cooling is carried out air system cooling. The power of a single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a volume of 49 cm³ is 2.72 hp. or 2.0 kW. And his average consumption AI-92 fuel is equal to 2.2 liters per 100 km.

The chassis consists of a welded tubular frame, a front telescopic fork with two spring-hydraulic shock absorbers and independent pendulum suspension rear wheels, also with two spring-hydraulic shock absorbers. The front fork travel is at least 150 mm along the wheel axis, the travel rear suspension, also along the wheel axis – 50 mm. All three wheels of the moped are spoked.

The tires of the front and rear wheels have a dimension of 2.50/85-16 (L-264). Drum brakes are made with separate mechanical drive on the front and rear wheels. Diameter brake drums equal to 125 mm. Torque from the gearbox (main gear) is transmitted to the rear wheels via a chain. The engine starts using an electric or kick starter. A bright headlight illuminates the road well at night.

There are 3 forward and 1 reverse gears. The gearbox is located in the same block with power unit. The driver shifts gears with his foot, and the clutch control is located on the steering wheel. The clutch itself is multi-plate, placed in an oil bath, and the motor transmission is gear-type.

The three-wheeled moped is equipped with a metal dump truck body with a tailgate. The tailgate makes loading the tricycle easier, and the tipper body speeds up unloading. Thus, the process of unloading bulk cargo, for example, sand, peat, earth, sawdust, gravel, hauled garbage, etc., is simplified as much as possible.

ZiD 50-02 is adapted for Russian road conditions. Thanks to the durable steel frame, the loaded tricycle is stable while driving and can withstand loads well, and the spring-hydraulic shock absorbers smooth out uneven road surfaces well. All major controls are logically located on the steering wheel. The instrument panel consists of a speedometer, odometer and control sensors for important operating processes.

The ZiD cargo tricycle is a light and economical utilitarian transport with a dump truck body, which is primarily intended for purchase by residents of villages, small towns and urban settlements. Mokik does not take up much storage space and is easy to maintain. Low price makes a Russian moped the most profitable purchase in comparison with Chinese and other imported analogues.

Moped - domestic development plant named after V. A. Degtyarev. This lightweight sports road motorcycle (enduro) managed to gain respect not only among many novice motorcyclists, but also among hunting and fishing enthusiasts.

The unpretentious "Mokik" Zid 50 Pilot is designed quite simply. We can say, according to the principle, the simpler it is, the less it breaks. Conventional 50 cc air-cooled engine, front and rear drum brakes, starting system - kickstarter handle.

Despite simple design, the ZID 50 Pilot moped shows pretty good results on any road surface. Light weight and large ground clearance enable its owner to move over various obstacles and curbs without experiencing any difficulties. Low-maintenance 50cc engine. See is gaining momentum quite quickly, but under one condition: ride it alone. Maximum load at 100 kg. makes itself felt.

The ZID plant engineers did not stop at developing this version of the motorcycle. Based on the Zid 50 moped, a cargo version called Mokik ZID 50 02 cargo And moped Zid Lifan. This plant also produced (currently discontinued) another version of the motorcycle - ZID 50 Active, the main difference between this moped and the Pilot is the oval plastic fairings. We will talk about these models in more detail in the following articles.

Not to say anything about tuning the Russian moped Zid 50 Pilot. Almost any part of this motorcycle can be improved, from boosting the engine to replacing the brakes. Therefore, the maximum speed recommended by the manufacturer of 50 kilometers per hour can easily be increased to 80-90 km/h without much damage to the engine. Fortunately, our engineers provided us with such an opportunity. But is it worth doing this when you can buy something more powerful, for example, from the 125cc or 125cc motorcycle category? Only you decide! But the fact that at the moment in Russia you do not need to have a license to drive motorcycles and mopeds speaks for itself.

On the Internet you can find many interesting articles on tuning this model, which will allow you not only to add a couple of horsepower to your “iron horse”, but also to achieve a more comfortable and safe ride.

History of the Plant named after V.A. Degtyarev (ZID) in the city of Kovrov began during the First World War: on August 27, 1916, the construction of the first buildings of the Kovrov machine gun plant began. In 1946, the first K-125 motorcycles began to be produced in Kovrov, and in the 50s, “Kovrovets” and “Voskhod”. Well, the plant’s first small-capacity motorcycle appeared only in the 90s.

ZID 50 Pilot (1995-present)

ZID 50 Pilot became the first moped of the plant. It first appeared in 1995 and was equipped with a 3.5 hp 50 cc 2-stroke engine. It developed 50 km/h and consumed 2.2 l/100 km at a speed of 30 km/h. The small moped weighing 76 kg had a three-speed gearbox combined into one unit with the engine. In 1999, a batch of mopeds with a raised front fender was released. In 2004, an improved version of the ZiD-50-01 appeared with a 4-stroke Chinese Lifan engine producing 2.72 hp. Interestingly, they used a semi-automatic clutch, so the clutch handle disappeared.

ZID 50 Cargo (ZDK-2.404) (1995-present)

In addition to the two-wheeled moped ZID 50 Pilot, they also produced a three-wheeled cargo model ZDK-2.404. It received the same 50 cc 3.5 hp two-stroke single-cylinder engine, but its top speed reached only 40 km/h. Fuel consumption – 3 l/100 km at a speed of 30 km/h. Weight – 112 kg. In 2004, the ZID 50-02 version appeared with a 4-stroke Chinese Lifan engine with a power of 2.72 hp. Moreover, such a moped could be supplemented with a rear differential.

ZID 50-01 Active (since 2000)

In 2000, another version of the ZID 50 model appeared, which was called “Active”. It was equipped with the same 2-stroke ZDK-50 engine, and its main difference was the original cruiser-style plastic body kit. In 2004, simultaneously with the ZID 50 Pilot, the Active received a Chinese 4-stroke Lifan engine.

ZID 50-05

More recently, the Degtyarev plant began producing a licensed copy of the Chinese Lifan moped under the ZID 50-05 brand. The lightweight and extremely cheap moped is equipped with a 4-stroke carburetor engine LIFAN, 1P39FMA air cooled. The same is installed on all other models of the “50” family. The two-seater scooter weighs only 82 kg.

ZiD-36 "Ptah" (1997-2001)

In 1997, the plant introduced its new development- a tiny folding mokik ZID 36 Ptah. Its folding steering wheel and lowering seat made it possible to transport it in a regular passenger car and store on the balcony. In 2001, the plant began serial production of Ptakh. It was equipped with a ZDK-36 engine with a displacement of only 36 cm3 and a power of 1.5 hp. Maximum speed– 35 km/h, fuel consumption – 2.8 l/100 km. The gearbox is two-speed with foot shift. The bird weighed only 35 kg. Dimensions- 1400x650x1100 (950) mm. Despite the interesting design, Ptah turned out to be economically unprofitable, and production was discontinued in 2007.

ZID 50 "Arkan" (ZDK-2.501) (2000-2003)

In 2000, the Kovrov plant produced its first scooter, the ZID 50 Arkan. He immediately became a sensation at all Russian and even international exhibitions. “Arkan” was made on the already proven chassis of the ZiD 50 Pilot moped, which has already become a bestseller in Russian market. The scooter absorbed all the most innovative things that were available at the factory at that time: battery, electric starter, neutral indicator, fuel level indicator and low oil indicator. An important detail is the separate lubrication system, which simplifies refilling. There was one “but” that distinguished the Arkan from its foreign analogues: the gearbox here was also from the Pilot, i.e. three-speed manual, not a CVT, as on all foreign models. In the spring of 2001, the plant produced the first pilot batch of mini-rollers in the amount of 50 pieces. But the moped went... In total, until 2003, no more than a thousand of these machines were produced. "Arkan" and Vyatsko-Polyansky "Strizh", although they were cheaper than new foreign roller skates, were not in demand. AND main reason It was precisely the absence of a variator in the design of scooters.

Conceptual models

ZID Alpha-50

In the early 90s, plant engineers began to think about replacing the Pilot. This is how the promising Alpha-50 model appeared with a very original design. The engine on the Alpha-50 remained the same, 50 cc with a power of 3.5 hp, which allowed the moped to accelerate to 50 km/h. Consumption remained the same – 2.2 l/100 km at a speed of 30 km/h. Weight – 76 kg. But such a moped did not go into production, and the plant still produces outdated Pilots.

ZID TURBONE-50 (1993-1998)

From 1993 to 1998 at the Plant named after. Dyagterev, along with the successor to the Pilot - Alpha-50, was developing a moped equipped with a CVT. The Mokik was called TURBONE-50, had an interesting innovative design and could become very popular. But, only 11 pieces were produced. One of the surviving mokiks is in the private collection of Nikolai Tubaev in Kovrov.

ZID 50 Arkan Prototype (1999)

In 1999, a prototype of the Arkan scooter was made with the original plastic body kit. The entire technical innovation was similar to the ZID 50 Pilot mokik.

Rusak (1999)

The Rusak custom moped was a prototype of a moped in the style of American cruisers. All technical basis was borrowed from the serial ZID-50 Pilot.

Nika (2000)

In 2000, a prototype of Nick's moped was released, which was a ZID-50 Pilot in enduro style. Mokik received an appropriate body kit and reinforced suspension.

ZID 80 Arkan (2000)

The model of a promising mokik was created by designer Alexey Bobylev. It received a five-speed gearbox, disc brake front wheel and a separate lubrication system. Was in the factory museum, after the disbandment of which it was sold into private hands. Currently in the collection of Vladimir Myachin.

ZID 80 Arkan Custom (2000)

Another promising mokik created by designer Alexey Bobylev. What distinguished the Arkan from the ZID 80 was its body kit in the style of American cruisers.

ZID 50 Arkan with CVT (2001)

As already written above, the main reason for the failure of sales of the ZID 50 Arkan scooter was the lack automatic transmission in the design. But in 2001, the plant produced a prototype of the Arkan with a CVT, which, unfortunately, never went into production.

ZID 80 (2001)

The model of a promising enduro-style mokick was created by designer A. Kabaev.

ZID KM (2002)

A prototype was created in 2002 motocross motorcycle ZID KM with ZDK-50 engine.

Quad "Double" (2006)

When things in the ZiD motorcycle production were so bad that they were ready to build anything just to get cash, comrades from St. Petersburg turned to SKB. And they asked to implement their long-standing idea - to build a double moped so that you could ride with a passenger, and at the same time not worry about maintaining balance (an ideal option for drunk drivers - you don’t need a “licence” for fifty dollars). We took the “Pilot” as a basis, using a number of components from our “Tarpan” all-terrain vehicle.

The front suspension was especially original - independent, trailing arms. No one in the world had anything like this, as well as a way to “fix” a passenger - holding onto the handlebars of a motorcycle type. The ATV was powered by a Chinese Lifan engine with a power of 2.72 hp, the same one that was installed on the Pilots. The customer took the device, called “Double” without much imagination, paid generously, and took it to St. Petersburg. The further fate of "Double", unfortunately, cannot be traced...

Reviews from ZiD 50-01 owners

ZiD 50-01, 2011

An easy-to-use moped, more like a motorcycle. You don’t need a license for this vehicle, because the volume of the ZiD 50-01 is just under 50 cubic meters, more precisely 49.9, with a power of 3.5 liters. With. With such characteristics, the moped does not develop a high speed, but quite sufficient, 50 km/h. Accordingly, fuel consumption is no more than two and a half liters. ZiD 50-01 is equipped with a 3-speed gearbox built into the engine. The moped is easy to control and maneuverable, as its weight is no more than 80 kg. The seating position is quite comfortable, the seat is moderately hard. A moped is suitable for trips to the garden (dacha), fishing, to the forest to pick mushrooms, to get to work and for other trips. For safety, ZiD 50-01 is equipped with turn signals and rear-view mirrors. The design of the moped resembles a motorcycle, and ride quality comparable to motorcycles.

Advantages : easy to operate. Simple in design. No need for rights.

Flaws : I don’t see.

ZiD 50-01, 2013

Sports-type motorcycle for individual use. You can go hunting, fishing or just drive. ZiD 50-01 is convenient and easy to use, reliable and does not require special driving skills. The plastic lining is easily replaced. LIFAN engine, 1P39FMB-C, gasoline, carburetor, four-stroke, air cooling. Maximum speed 50 km. It is economical with gasoline consumption of only 2.2 liters per 100 km. Maximum load 100 kg. In case of breakdowns, finding spare parts is not a problem; there are practically all around. If you operate it correctly, then it will not soon come to finding spare parts. You don't need a license for this vehicle - just registration and technical passports are enough. For people living in rural areas, the ZiD 50-01 is very practical, but for the city it is also well suited for driving in traffic jams.

Advantages : some advantages. Saving is the most important thing.

Flaws : no serious ones.

ZiD 50-01, 2012

ZiD-50 “Pilot” is a legendary, dare I say it, Russian unit. The design of this moped is made in the style of a classic bike. As far as I know, ZiD 50-01 is the first moped with a 3-speed transmission system. This is usually not a lot of trouble: I poured oil and gasoline into the tank, in a certain proportion, and went to drive it, either into the forest or around the city. The volume of 49 cubes allows you to ride without a license. Produced in Kovrov. Unfortunately, the quality of modern ZiD 50-01 will never compare with the models produced at the beginning of the century, because the quality of parts has dropped due to imports from abroad. The moped is quite light - only 87 kg, and is very comfortable to handle. Recently, the price has sharply increased, and demand has also fallen slightly. And so see for yourself, if you need it to drive to your dacha and back, or to drive around the city without having a category A license, then this is the one, but if you need it for traveling, then you should look at another option.

Advantages : Very stylish and easy to use. Inexpensive parts.

Flaws : weak shock absorbers.

ZiD 50-01, 2013

Frankly little power. 2.5 hp at 110 kg and 4-speed semi-automatic. Frankly a “trash can”. Chinese engine 1P139FMB is a nightmare. Runs quietly, drives quietly, crashes loudly. The fork doesn't count. The domestic ZiD 50-01 was equipped with a 4-strong 2-stroke engine with large cooling fins, high ground clearance and a peppy clutch with 3 gears. I was forced to tune the 1P139FMB to 110cc, and as a result I got a broken 2nd gear, roar, roar and rumble with vibrations transmitted along the back to the very brain. The traction became excellent with my 6 hp, the moped began to “goat”, go from any gear to get into any mud. It became very easy to overcome logs, fords, and climbs on the ZiD 50-01. But there was still no speed. Next was tuning the stars and installing the filter zero resistance. The speed increased, but the brakes remained bad. Conclusion: with the 139FMB engine (Honda Cub clone) and semi-automatic, the moped has become terrible. Too heavy at 110kg and too slow. But it is made as strong as tanks; the frame came from machine guns. Even a fall from the mountain will not end this squalor. ZID 2-stroke is definitely better than Active 4T.

Advantages : Durable frame and wheels. Soft landing. Simple design.

Flaws : engine 139FMB. Semi-automatic The heaviest weight for a moped, a teenager will not lift 110 kg over an obstacle.
