VAZ 2114 candle key. How often do you need to change spark plugs for a VAZ. What candles to put

Welcome! Spark plugs - in all frets there are only four of them, in some cars they are connected to high voltage wires coming from the distributor ( carbureted cars), in which these wires are also connected to them, but already coming from the ignition module (Injection 8 valve engines) and in some high-voltage wires there are no wires at all, but instead of them, one ignition coil is for each candle (These are 16 valve engines) , usually with such engines difficulties arise, owners sometimes have no idea at all about how to change spark plugs in such an engine, but this is done very easily and in this article we will teach you how to do this in every engine that was installed on the Samara 2 family, and as you know, quite a few engines were installed on them, starting from an 8-valve carburetor and ending with a 16-valve engine with a distributed injection system (In other words, an injector).

Note! To carry out work on replacing spark plugs in the engine, you will need: Be sure to have a spark plug key (When you buy it, tell the seller for which engine you are buying the key, because at 16 valve engines, the candle wrench comes in a completely different and different type), as well as a screwdriver, a wrench can also come in handy in order to throw off the minus terminal from battery, thereby protecting yourself and the car from a short circuit!

  • Additional video clip

Where are the spark plugs located? If you have an 8 valve engine, then the candles in them are located on the side of the cylinder block and they are screwed straight into the combustion chamber, see the second photo below for more details, in 16 valve engines everything is a little different, no wires, as we said to the candles it doesn’t work, you will immediately need to look for coils (All four coils are indicated by arrows in photo 1), under these coils there are spark plugs that are subject to replacement from time to time.

When should spark plugs be changed? It all depends on the operation of the engine, if the engine is very worn out or if the ignition is set incorrectly and detonation occurs from time to time, then in this case the candles are much more likely to be replaced, they are destroyed during detonation (What is detonation, read in the article: “Detonation occurring time from time to time in the car engine") and by the way it will not be possible to restore them, unlike if the engine works normally and without interruptions, just when everything works ideally, a plaque forms on the candles only from time to time, which can be removed by sandblasting and then candles will be like new, if you live in a big city, then look on the Internet, maybe someone is doing this for a very small price, sandblasting a candle will literally be like new and it can still be used in your car for a long time.

Note! The frequency of replacing candles is about 10-20 thousand km. If they are clogged, the car will obviously drive worse, and it will also be difficult to start in cold weather (the spark will be weak) and, most importantly, due to heavily worn candles, the car can generally get up and don’t go anywhere else, as a rule, this case is rare, you just change them in time and everything will be fine, but the fact that there is no spark on the candles, it may be due to various factors in which either the ignition system is to blame, or the module, or some one of the four coil!

8 Valve engines:

Everything is very simple on them, besides this, you can also see if there is a spark in the candle or not, which is very convenient when the car stalls, in general, let's start, we will immediately warn you which injection system does not matter at all (The injection system can be injection and carburetor on our cars) , everything is done the same way, first the minus terminal is removed from the battery (How to remove the terminal from the battery, read the article: “Replacing the battery in a car”), after this is done, disconnect one wire from the first candle (The wire is indicated by an arrow) and unscrew it , in its place, immediately screw another (New) and connect a wire to it and so go through all four candles, when they are changed, install the terminal on the battery and start the car, the engine should start the same way as before or even a little better and faster (Due to the fact that the spark passes better through the new electrodes of the candles), during its operation, extraneous sounds that did not exist before should not appear, everything should work clearly and without interruptions, except for this in places where high-voltage wires cling to candles, there should be no spark and in general the spark should not break through the wires, otherwise install them better on candles or replace them with new ones.

16 Valve engines:

Everything is very simple on them too, but there is one big minus, it will not be possible to see a spark and understand whether it is there or not, so if you take 8 valves, then everything is simple there, if the car does not start, any one candle is unscrewed and connected to it wire, after which the candle is brought to the mass and the car starts, thus you can immediately understand whether there is a spark or not, and you already know that the problem is in the ignition, on 16 valves, usually if it doesn’t start, you can sin a lot, on fuel system, for sensors, and so on, everything is checked in it using a computer and a diagnostic connector, so such cars are more sophisticated and, unlike carburetor ones, try to make a car yourself and sit down and drive, it’s unlikely to work out, let’s get back closer to the topic, replace the candles with 16 valve machines as follows, at the beginning, in the same way, the on-board network is de-energized by dropping the minus terminal from the battery, then the bolt is unscrewed (The bolt for securing one coil is indicated by an arrow for clarity and the outermost coil is indicated by a blue arrow, otherwise it is hard to see in the photo) securing one from any coils and the coil is removed from the hole in which it is located, when it is removed, a special candle key is taken for 16 valve machines and the spark plug is turned out with it (see small photo) and it is also removed from the hole, replaced with a new one and a new one in do not forget to install the coil on it in the reverse order, the other three spark plugs, go in the same way .

Note! On 16 valve machines, which is on the prior, on the Samara 2 family, there is a screen on the cylinder head cover, you will need to remove this screen, otherwise you simply won’t get to the candles, how to remove it, read in the article: “Replacing the engine screen with Priore!

Additional video clip: For clarity, you can see the process of replacing candles in two videos, the first video shows the process of replacing with 8 valve cars, and in the second for 16 valves, our advice to you, check out both, because this operation is very easy to perform and absolutely everyone should know how to carry it out.

Candles on the VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 are an important element of the ignition system, on which the successful start of the internal combustion engine depends. The article discusses cases when it is necessary to change spark plugs (SZ), which spark plugs to put in, and also provides instructions for replacing them with VAZ 2114 and 2115.

In what cases is it necessary to replace spark plugs?

Replacement of SZ with VAZ 2115 and VAZ 214 is carried out every 30,000 thousand kilometers. If you do not change the SZ in time and continue to operate the car, then the wear of the electrodes increases sharply, this entails a drop in the power of the car and excessive fuel consumption. It is possible to determine the condition of the candle and the ignition system as a whole based on the appearance of the electrode, by the amount and color of soot on it. Brown soot is considered normal.

With long-term operation, the characteristics of the motor change. If you carefully follow ICE operation, then, based on fuel consumption, conclusions can be drawn about the state of the SZ. Knowledgeable people recommend changing candles on VAZs after 20 thousand kilometers, and in winter even after 15 thousand.

You can judge the need to replace the SZ by their appearance, more precisely in terms of the amount and color of carbon deposits, as well as the gap between the electrodes.

In addition, the dryness of the thread should be checked. If there are traces of oil on it, this indicates problems with the tightness of the system.

Summing up, we can give cases when it is necessary to change the SZ:

  • the car does not start well;
  • increased fuel consumption;
  • the engine starts to troit;
  • motor power drops;
  • exceeding the recommended mileage for replacement.

What kind of candles to put?

The choice of candles is a responsible matter. The service life of the engine, its power, fuel consumption, and successful launch depend on their quality.

When choosing, the greatest attention should be paid to the central electrode, such indicators as: heat resistance, thermal conductivity and plasticity.

The best products are candles, in which the smallest gap is 0.4-0.8 mm, made of expensive materials: platinum, iridium, palladium coated with silver or gold (video author - Avtosferaomsk).

It is important to understand which candles are produced for the VAZ 2114. When choosing a new product, you need to study its characteristics in order to choose which candles are better. A large number of SZ manufacturers have appeared on the car market, but there are several leaders whose products are in the greatest demand. SZ must work synchronously, so you need to buy them from the same manufacturer and from the same material.

From domestic manufacturers can be called DVRM candles, produced in the city of Engels. They are installed on VAZs from the factory. The quality of the products corresponds to the price, but there is a marriage, so when buying they need to be checked for serviceability. Products A-17DVRM (1.0) are produced for engines with an injector 8 and A-17DVRM (1.0) - for 16 valves.

From imported products are good Czech candles Brisk. They are in demand due to good quality. There are 10 series of these products, which differ in design. They have a gap of 1.1, there is a SZ for 8 valve injection engines- BRISK SUPER FORTE LOR15YC-1 and for 16 valve BRISK SUPER FORTE DOR15YC-1.

Japanese products are always different high quality. These candles are installed on some brands of cars directly at the factory. They have a higher price, but they also have the corresponding quality. When buying, you should beware of fakes, as there are a lot of them. For engines with 8 valves with an injector, DENSO W20TT is suitable, for engines with 16 valves, DENSO W20EPR-U11.

NGK is a leading manufacturer of SZ. They are installed by manufacturers on some brands of foreign cars. A car enthusiast claims that candles serve an average of 25-30 thousand kilometers. For engines with a 16-valve injector, NGK No. 13 BPR6ES-11 spark plugs are available.

DIY replacement instructions

Replacing candles with VAZ 2114 and 2115 is not a difficult process. This work can be performed by any motorist, guided by step by step instructions below.

Tools and materials

For the procedure, you must prepare:

  • key to remove protection;
  • a set of round probes;
  • candle key;
  • new set of SZ.

To avoid counterfeiting, you should purchase original products.

The process of dismantling and replacing SZ

The procedure for removing and replacing spark plugs must be carried out on a cold engine to avoid burns.

The process itself consists of the following steps:

  1. First you need to open the hood. Then you need to dismantle the protection from the engine, if present.
  2. After removing the decorative trim, you need to remove the protective caps with high-voltage wires that are put on the contacts. Remove the caps carefully so as not to damage the wiring.
  3. Places near the NW should be cleaned of dirt so that they do not get into the engine cylinders.
  4. Now, using a candle key, you need to unscrew the SZ from the cylinder head. You can start twisting from any side. First you need to get off the ground, and then you can carefully unscrew the SZ from the socket.
  5. Having unscrewed the old SZ, you need to wipe the thread with a rag.
  6. Before screwing in new products, it is advisable to check the clearance on each of them. For vehicles with an injector, it should be between 1 and 1.13 mm.
  7. SZ installation - the same simple procedure, like twisting, is carried out in the reverse order. New products put on seats old candles. It must be screwed in carefully so as not to damage the threads in the cylinder head or on the product.
  8. Next, you need to put on the tips of high-voltage wires. In this case, you need to make sure that the wire numbers that are marked on them correspond.
  9. At the final stage, the decorative overlay returns to its place.

After replacing the SZ, it is necessary to observe how the engine works. If it works intermittently, it is possible that one of the SZs is defective. To detect it, you need to sequentially turn off each high-voltage wire. A defective spark plug must be replaced.

Issue price

Quality products always cost more. Domestic products are several times cheaper, but the quality leaves much to be desired. Therefore, it is worth buying imported candles that will last much longer than domestic ones. At the same time, the life of the engine will be extended and fuel consumption will be more economical.

Video "Which spark plugs are better"

This video talks about SZ: device, types, which are better (the author of the video is VybratAuto - Automotive information site)

Timely replacement of the spark plug is the key to stable, long engine operation.

Briefly about the essence of the work of spark plugs

A spark plug is an ignition element designed to create a spark that ignites the combustible mixture under the cylinder piston. Their number is determined by the number of cylinders in the engine block.

They are a nickel case with a ceramic insulator, inside which a contact rod passes. Their synchronous operation is achieved by replacing the entire set, that is, 4 pieces. It is desirable that they be of the same brand and manufacturer.

Replacement time

The failure of the candle occurs due to improper operation of the car, incorrect selection of their brand, bad fuel. As a result, defects appear on the elements, by which it is possible to identify an engine malfunction.

Main malfunctions

  1. The body of the candle, the electrode are oily . Occurs due to wear of piston removable rings. The oil between the rings and the cylinder wall penetrates into the combustion chamber, flooding the electrode. A wet element does not spark regularly, and the engine starts to run intermittently, with a drop in power. There is a need to repair the motor with all the ensuing problems.
  2. Chip or breakage of the insulator . This defect, in order to avoid detonation, requires the replacement of candles.
  3. Plaque on the hull (prevents sparks). Requires thorough cleaning. The reason for the appearance of plaque is considered to be the low quality of fuel (gasoline).
  4. Chassis overheating (the presence of a white tint on it). The motive for this is high-octane gasoline, for example, AI 95 instead of AI76 or AI 92. On the VAZ-2114, owners recommend pouring 92 gasoline.
  5. Spark plug brand mismatch to the engine also causes them to overheat.

The white color of the insulator, the melted electrode indicate the use of depleted combustible mixture. This leads to the appearance of carbon deposits inside the cylinder. And the excessive length of the threaded element of the candle leads to damage to the piston.

Spark plug replacement process

So, a candle replacement is available to any owner with a candle wrench, a metal brush, compressed air (preferably from a tire pump), a set of new candles. To do this, turn off the engine, allowing it to cool.

To avoid damage to the threaded socket of the block head, the spark plug is turned out after the engine has cooled down.

If the engine is running intermittently, the candles are checked for defects. Identification of such is carried out by alternately disconnecting the wires. It must be remembered that when removing the wire from a suspicious (defective) candle, there are no changes in the operation of the motor by ear.

When to change

Even with high-quality ignition of the mixture, engine stability, candles should be changed in a timely manner. You need to do this from the appearance of his non-rhythmic work.

Proper operation of the car will provide 30, and sometimes 40 thousand kilometers on one set.

Replacing a candle is connected:

  • Bad engine start.
  • An increase in gasoline consumption.
  • Power reduction.
  • Motor troit.
  • Long mileage without changing spark plugs.

To increase the service life, it is necessary to regularly check the gap between the electrodes. The operation of a car with an unheated engine, especially in winter, negatively affects the operation of spark plugs.

Gap of spark plugs on VAZ-2114

The wear of the electrodes negatively affects the internal combustion engine and this can be determined by increased fuel consumption. Fuel consumption on the VAZ-2114 in urban operation should not exceed 10 liters.

So, large gap is better for ignition , since a larger volume of the combustible mixture passes into the contact interval and its high-quality ignition occurs. But such a situation can lead to a spark break, especially when the engine is running at high speeds.

A small gap results in a powerful but short spark , whose arc may not break. The situation is fraught with the fact that fire plasma remains between the contacts. And this leads to the failure of the short circuit (ignition coil) and long-term downtime of the car.

When installing candles, it is useful to visually check the SZ for possible curvature of the electrode or changes in other parameters during their delivery to the place.

When purchasing SP in a store, setting these parameters is not required. The choice must be made based on the brand of your vehicle.

Most motorists, owners of Samara are wondering how often it is necessary to change spark plugs. Let's try to find the answer to this and many other questions regarding such an important element in the car as candles. It seems like a trifle that can fit in the palm of your hand, but without them the car will not go.

WHAT ARE CANDLES FOR A CAR

A spark plug is a small device in a car engine that creates an electrical spark that ignites the air/fuel mixture. With the help of a spark, she creates a mini-explosion in the cylinder, due to which the piston begins its movement. The number of such mini-fuzes in . In ordinary business class cars, and in particular in cars, there are four-cylinder engines, which means that 4 copies are installed in it. But there are elite class cars or sports cars. They have six-eight-cylinder internal combustion engines, respectively, 6-8 pieces are installed.

Consider spark plugs. As mentioned above, 4 pieces are installed in the VAZ ICE. Each consists of a nickel body, a contact rod protected by a ceramic insulator. A spark occurs in the process of closing the central and side electrodes.

It is important that everything is synchronous, which means that they must be from the same manufacturer and the same brand, that is, from the same materials. It is not advisable to replace one or two candles. If it's time to change, then it's better to do all 4 at once.

DEFECTS AND DAMAGE ON SPARK PLUGS

During operation, candles may appear damaged and defective. Sometimes they are the result of improper operation, sometimes due to the wrong brand of candles. By defects on the candles, you can also diagnose engine malfunctions. What will happen if you do not change the spark plugs if defects occur, you will learn from this section of the article. The brown color of the electrodes, the absence of damage indicate that the spark plugs are operating normally, and you can continue to drive on.

Examples of defects and description:

  • Electrodes and body. This defect indicates that the removable rings on the pistons are worn out and require replacement. These rings allow oil to pass through, and candles filled with liquid give a spark irregularly, detonate. The engine needs to be overhauled. Soiled igniters should be washed from oil, dried and inspected. If there are no other defects, then they can be left for further operation.
  • Defective electrode insulation . You cannot drive with broken insulation, you must change the spark plugs, as they cause detonation in the engine.
  • Plaque on the surface of the body indicates the low quality of gasoline. You need to change the gas station that sells the surrogate, and the plaque that prevents the spark, and you can continue to drive them further.
  • Overheating of the body is indicated by white spark plugs, or a worn top electrode. Flammable devices can overheat for two reasons:
  1. You use high-octane gasoline, which means you need to change its brand;
  2. The type of plugs does not match your engine, and therefore theirs too.
  • The white color of the insulator with a smoky shade of the body and slightly melted electrodes shows the lean mixture and the formation of soot inside the cylinders.
  • Painting of the body and contact in golden or glossy color, as well as mechanical damage, indicate that this brand spark plug is not suitable for your engine. The last defect occurs due to the excessive length of the element. Incorrectly selected, long specimens can also damage the piston. Therefore, they also need to be replaced.

A worn out candle is perhaps the most correct type of malfunction. He says that the ignition process was carried out correctly, the internal combustion engine is working fine, but it's time to replace them with new ones.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS?

Your car will tell you when to change your spark plugs. Just be more careful with it. Listen to the engine. And as soon as you feel that the sound or rhythm of its work is changing, open the hood and check the candles.

If the above problems occur, or at the first signs of wear, the ignition elements must be changed immediately.. During normal operation, they must be replaced after 30-40 thousand kilometers. There are also platinum and iridium igniters, their service life is about twice as long as that of conventional ones. But they cost more. Such candles are more of a luxury for the VAZ 2114 than a necessity.

High-quality working candles will keep the engine running. On the contrary, if they spark intermittently, this will affect the power of the internal combustion engine and increase the amount of unburned fumes. . The engine itself, running on worn or defective spark plugs, will not last long.

They are not so expensive to save on them. Moreover, this savings will be akin to an eccentric who lit a 10 dollar bill in order to find a 10 cent coin in the dark.

WHICH CANDLES TO CHOOSE FOR VAZ 2114

The auto parts market provides a fairly wide selection of igniters for the VAZ 2114. Here and Russian manufacturers, and Western European, and, of course, Japanese. Below you will find out which candles for Samara models are preferred by the owners of these cars.

  • DVRM AU17 from Engels is installed by the VAZ manufacturing plant on its cars. These candles are recommended for car owners of their models. Motorists themselves believe that DVRM are good igniters for these cars. True, according to the same car owners, marriage sometimes comes across. Therefore, before installation is necessary on the bench. On average, a set of 4 pieces costs about 200 rubles.
  • Czech Brisk candles have also proven to be reliable and are in demand among VAZ 2114 owners. This manufacturer produces 10 types for different models foreign cars, including for motor vehicles. They cost about the same as the Russian DVRM.
  • Japanese spark plugs DENSO no special advice needed. Many foreign car factories install them on their car models. True, they are much more expensive than domestic and Czech brands - 350-400 rubles per set, but also longer than European and Russian counterparts.

Which candles to put on the VAZ 2114 - expensive or cheap, branded or just running, you decide. The main thing is that they match your type of engine and work properly.

HOW TO CHANGE CANDLES IN THE CAR?

Changing candles in a car is not difficult, any car owner can handle this operation on their own.

If you decide to change them off the road, let the engine cool down. Otherwise, you can burn yourself and damage the thread when unscrewing, since the heated metal is expanded.

  1. Open the hood, if you have a protective cover, it must be unscrewed and removed. Protective caps with high-voltage wires are put on the contacts. They must be carefully removed by holding the caps, but in no case pull on the wires. You can break the connections, and then you have to change the wiring.
  2. Around the ceramics from the nest, it is necessary to remove all carbon deposits and debris that have accumulated here. Otherwise, all this dirt can end up in the engine cylinder.
  3. To remove the spark plugs, carefully unscrew them with a wrench. After moving off the dead center, try to twist. Do not rush, you can damage the threads of the socket or housing. Try screwing it back in a bit, and keep turning it out carefully.
  4. Having unscrewed the old candle, clean the thread from dirt with a rag. Screw in a new one. Feeling that the thread is tightened, make a quarter turn, but do not overtighten, otherwise you may ruin the thread of the cylinder, or the element itself.
  5. Put high-voltage caps on the contacts, reinstall the casing, close the hood.

For the first two or three days, observe how your new thing works. It is possible that a marriage will get in, then the engine will work intermittently. If this happens, you can determine which candle is defective by disconnecting the wires in series. Be sure to replace the rejected part.

All modern spark plugs, regardless of which company they are made of or which features they have (for example, candles with platinum elements), have a completely identical device.

They include the following components:

  • nut-contact for wires high voltage;
  • insulator (heat-resistant ceramic);
  • faceted metal insert on the insulator, which serves to unscrew the candle with a key;
  • sealing ring;
  • side contact;
  • central contact.

Between the last two elements there should always be a working gap (for injectors - about 1 mm) - in this gap a high-voltage spark will jump, igniting the working mixture in the cylinder (a separate candle is installed on each engine cylinder).

As for the period after which it is necessary to replace candles with a VAZ 2114, it is: about 10 thousand kilometers for simple budget-level candles, about 15-25 thousand km for simple candles from "branded" manufacturers, about 70- 100 thousand km for platinum / iridium candles.

Signs it's Time to Replace Your Spark Plugs

The above figures are approximate and should not be strictly adhered to. Sometimes even a simple candle can last longer than its allotted time, and a “branded” one can turn out to be of poor quality and quickly fail.

Significantly reduces the service life and incorrect "minor repairs" of flooded candles by calcining or cleaning using coarse-grained skins.

Given all this, replacing candles with new ones should be done not according to some numerical indicators, but guided by the following signs of their wear:

    • the color of the electrodes differs from brown and does not change after cleaning (white indicates overheating, black / dark brown indicates problems with fuel combustion);
    • on the electrodes there is a practically non-removable plaque/deposit;

  • if the metal shell of the insulator is painted in a bright straw / golden color, then this brand of candles is not suitable for this engine;
  • abundant traces of oil on the candle and in the well, reappearing after cleaning it;
  • chipping of the ceramic shell of the insulator or damage to the metal lining.

If at least one (and even more so - several) of the above signs is found on the candle, then it should be replaced as soon as possible. In order to do this, you will need new candle and a candle key vaz 2114 (we will tell you about what kind of key this is below).

How to replace spark plugs?

Before considering the question - how to change the candles of the VAZ 2114, you should first talk about - how can this be done? The answer here will be very simple - a candle key.

They are produced in a variety of shapes, lengths and sizes of the working part. The most important thing to consider when purchasing this tool is the size of the VAZ 2114 candle key. It should be exactly 21 mm, no more, no less. All other characteristics, for example - length - are not so important.

We can only say that many experienced car enthusiasts and car service workers advise not to save money and purchase a more expensive key with universal joint and a pen. It is much more convenient to use than a conventional tubular wrench with holes for a wrench or screwdriver.

In addition to the candle wrench, you will also need a soft steel brush and a compressor (or a small can of compressed air).

The replacement procedure is carried out in the following order (only on a completely cold engine):

  1. Open the hood and remove the engine cover (if any).
  2. Remove high voltage wires from spark plugs.
  3. Clean with a soft brush and compressed air both the candles themselves and the surface around them (in order to prevent dirt from getting into the candle wells when unscrewing).
  4. Unscrew the candles with a candle wrench (it is best to just move them from their place with a key, and then unscrew them with your hands - this will help avoid damage to the internal threads in the sockets).
  5. Take new candles and check the clearance on them (it should be about 1 mm).
  6. Insert new candles into place and tighten (at the beginning - also by hand, with a key - only at the very end).
  7. Put high-voltage wires on the contact nut of the candles.
  8. Put on the cover (if equipped) and close the hood.

All spark plugs should be replaced at the same time. It is absolutely not worth replacing only one or two candles, even if the remaining ones seem to be “quite working”.

In addition to the rules for replacing candles listed above, a few more important recommendations should be said. So, we have already told what kind of candle key is needed for the VAZ 2114, but it is worth adding that the torque wrench will still be ideal. It is worth tightening candles with its use with a force of up to 20 N / m - it is precisely this that is optimal, securely holding the candles in the socket and not damaging the thread.

The second tip is to check the candles for factory defects. So, if after installing a new kit, the motor does not work well and with extraneous noise, then one of the candles is faulty. Find out which one you can by turning off the armored wires one by one with the engine running, and then connecting them back. During this procedure, the sound of the motor will change when the good spark plugs are disconnected, and will remain unchanged only when the wire is disconnected from the defective spark plug.

In order to replace the spark plugs on VAZ cars, you should open the hood and install a backup, by the way, not all models of VAZ cars are equipped with a backup. Latest Models cars domestic production have a plastic casing on top of the motor that covers part of the motor. Remove it by unscrewing the mounting screws that secure it to the motor.

How to remove the high-voltage wire from the spark plug on the VAZ-2114

Going further, carefully remove the high voltage wire from the spark plug of the 1st cylinder and place it on the cylinder head. It is necessary to remove high-voltage wires by holding them by the protective cap, and in no case by the wire itself, since in this case it is possible to break the contact between the wire and the cap, after which the armored wires will have to be replaced.

After that, it is necessary to mechanically clean the soot and accumulated dirt from the sockets in which the candles are installed. This must be done so that during the replacement of the spark plugs, the debris that has collected around them does not fall into the combustion chamber. Trying to wash off the dirt is pointless and unreasonable, since all of it will somehow go inside the motor, which sooner or later will give its results and cause damage piston group your car.

Replacing spark plugs on a VAZ 2114

The next step is to unscrew the spark plug using a spark plug wrench, usually a 16 or 21 socket wrench, depending on which spark plugs are installed on your car. Spark plugs are unscrewed exclusively on a stopped cooled engine, if you violate this rule, it is possible to burn yourself and damage the thread. If even after the candle is "torn off" it continues to unscrew tightly, there is no need to rush, make a couple of turns in the opposite direction and again try to gently unscrew it. This is necessary in order not to damage the threads in the cylinder head in any case. If the candle is difficult and tight to unscrew, this may be due to the fact that a large amount of soot has accumulated on its walls or rod.

So, when the candle is unscrewed, you can install a new, pre-prepared spark plug. Install and tighten it until the fingers begin to slip, then arm yourself with a candle wrench and tighten, be vigilant and careful not to inadvertently strip the thread. Excessive tightening of the spark plugs is fraught with damaged threads in the cylinder head, as well as subsequent problems with replacing the spark plugs.

The final stage. After the candles are screwed in, you can put the high-voltage wires in place, and then install the plastic casing in place. Screw it on and try to start the engine. The engine should start immediately, and its operation should be stable and smooth.
